Bella Amalfi in Dover

Booked Saturday morning for 12 people (we had an unexpected guest arrived) in the evening so 13 in total, orders were taken first course arrived all together, same with main, very good service all round. Highly recommended.

Our host, presumably the owner, was absolutely wonderful in every regard. Unfortunately the food didn't really measure up. My wife had veal, which was a little tough and chewy, although had good flavour. My pizza was good without being anything special. Value for money was okay and because of the fabulous service, we will give it another chance in time.

Food was delicious. Reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and attentive, great sense of humour and very polite. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is due to the fact the restaurant is quite small, so due to it being busy it was difficult to hear my partner sometimes, who was sat opposite me. However, it is a Friday night, so this can be expected. Wasn’t a fan of the decor/lighting. Think the decor could be more authentic and maybe some warm lighting. I would eat here again, and my partner said the same. I have recommended this restaurant to my family :) also, the tiramisu was so good! Was my first time trying it. Thanks to the staff for being in good spirits and being very smiley, always makes the experience so much better!

Food was brilliant and have no complaints about it, staff are lovely, attentive and smiley but venue is quite small which in turn makes it very loud, I felt like I had to shout to communicate with somebody sat opposite me, but this would not stop me from going again and I would highly recommend it!

Really disappointing, food was awful. Scallops were wrapped in a large piece of fatty bacon, no pancetta in sight, and not cooked. Mushroom bruchetta awful and too much. Aperol spritz had so much soda it tasted like fizzy water. Cancelled rest of order and Walked out.Italian is synonymous with good food, not here

I am an italian and I think this is one of the worst italian restaurant I ‘ve ever eaten in the UK. Stay away from it!!!

Went for an early meal, service was excellent, food was perfect recommended the Tuna and Red Snapper.

My wife and I had lunch. She had the Eggplant Parmesan and I had the Risotto with Courgette. We shared the Caprese Insalata with Buffalo Mozzarella. The service, the atmosphere and the food were amazing. Took a chance since we were day tripping and are from Tampa, Florida. Excellent choice we made and would return and recommend. Grazie

We absolutely loved our visit to Bella Almafi, the food was first class as was the staff. The gentleman in charge (owner?) made us so welcome - especially our 8 year old grandaughter, we felt like we were actually in Italy ! 🇮🇹

Myself and a big group of friends booked a dinner at Bella Amalfi. Unfortunately we were really disappointed with how the owner treated his staff. We saw him shouting at the poor waitress who was trying to be helpful to us, being very aggressive towards his other staff, he even snatched the £20 tip we gave the waitress off her. On top of this most of our food was ok, however my pizza was very burnt and i had to cut around the black pieces because it was so charred, this made it taste quite unpleasant and for the price i paid I expected better. Very disappointed and i will not be visiting again unfortunately.

We enjoyed our 2 attentive polite waiters, the italian music and the food we ate here overall, although a little on the pricy side. Nice prawns and pasta dishes. The garlic bread i thought could be improved to taste a bit nicer, very thin and a bit burnt in places. Our experience was tarnished as after our meal, people burst into the restaurant with a supplies delivery, let a cold draft in and noisily chatted whilst dumping off tins and tins of tomatoes etc on the table next to us. This man then proceeded to take our empty plates away! At least be a bit discreet with your deliveries to be curtious to your diners! and dont take our plates away if we've never seen you before, even if you own the place or work there, its wierd. Restaurants like this need impecable service and atmosphere whilst customers are dining, the delivery pair today need to remember this.

Food well below average, had a soggy pizza, staff looked like they didn't want to be there.

Was visiting Sandwich again after some 20 years, and came across this very friendly, welcoming restaurant. Owner and staff very hospitable. Food is fresh, and excellent. Good value for money. Will definitely go back again.

Worth a trip for the Calzone Fritto alone. Delicious!

We went to the Bella Amalfi whilst visiting This is an amazing restaurant and difficult to think that you would experience anything better in Italy. The food was sensational and very authentic.The wine was brilliant and the starter, main course and sweet fantastic. The owner and all the staff were very welcoming and friendly and really made us feel welcome. If you are staying in Sandwich then this is an essential visit. Not only great food and wine but the ambience, building and service were exceptional. Treat yourself and enjoy 😁🍾🇮🇹

Beautiful Italian restaurant, staff and owners are so lovely, great atmosphere. Food is absolutely fantastic, I can highly recommend the calamari, best calamari I have had in the UK. Definitely worth a visit when visiting Sandwich.

Very rude , didn't have table my husband had actually gone in and booked ! Squashed in and constantly knocked from walk way we were seated in , won't return Birthday meal ruined !

A lovely family-run restaurant with an authentic Italian atmosphere.

We were recommended to go here by the owners of Molland House, the B&B we stayed at, and it helped that we got a 10% discount because we were staying there. The hospitality was fantastic, the vibe was vibrant. We both had swordfish which was beautifully succulent. Recommended!

Amazing food and service, the owner was very friendly and helpful with helping me choose a dish as I fancied something different, First time trying swordfish what was lovely. Portion sizes where very generous and well priced! Will definitely be returning very soon!

Out with friends. Prompt service as restaurant was quiet. Really fresh ingredients on my pizza. Strawberry sorbet was delicious. Easy parking outside. Will go again for sure.

You can always judge an Italian by their service and their tiramisu - and this restaurant was exceptional for both! Wonderful friendly staff and superb food with big portions - this was an absolute find in Sandwich and we loved spending time in such a traditional Italian family-run venue. We can't wait to come back!

Lovely very authentic Italian food and good service. The place was a bit cavernous, and noisy though. All in all I would go again.

My family and I recently visited Bella Amalfi for a birthday celebration. We had a lovely time. The food was delicious and the restaurant was full. Can definitely recommend this restaurant to anybody thinking about visiting.

Welcoming atmosphere, perfect hospitality and the best Italian food around. I've waited 15 years to find a calzone as good as the one I last had at Bella Amalfi, when they were on the Quay. Sadly, I've never found one better anywhere else. Well done to Marco and his staff!

Had an amazing meal here with my family celebrating my birthday. Made to feel so welcome, lovely relaxed atmosphere and a fantastic host! The food is superb and we will all definitely be returning very soon! Watch out for that Grappa!

Popped in during the Folk and Ale festival. Lovely little restaurant,very obliging and friendly staff. The food was amazing,portions just right.It was a bit warm inside but they had a small fan going.Would definitely return again as prices were ok.

We had a lovely 3 course meal. The bottle of house red was very quaffable. The service was great and the staff/owners very friendly.

This is our second lunch here and same as the previous meal it was delicious. It was quieter than usual but we were well looked after. The restaurant is ideally situated in the centre of town.

I've been here a few times since it rebranded and it's always been an enjoyable evening. Unfortunately on my most recent visit with a friend we felt as if we were in the way (which us strange as was virtually empty in there!) and certainly not valued as customers. The owner was so enthusiastic to move us on he even tried to take our wine glasses and a half full bottle of wine along with our empty plates after the main! Food was OK ...ventilation not brilliant as both of us came away smelling of cooking. To be honest, the negative experience has probably put me off returning

Dropped in for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Marco and his brother made us very welcome, served up an excellent pizza for my wife and I had a very fresh plate of fritto misto. A real find in Sandwich and we will certainly return.

The service was fantastic, friendly and welcoming staff with prompt service. For starter, I shared a cheese garlic bread which was lovely, for main I had Scaloppine al Limone which personally wasn’t my kind of thing, the dessert I had was banoffee pie which was nice and a good portion size.

What a fabulous restaurant! We came in with our one year old and from the moment we walked in the door they were so accommodating. They made space for our buggy and service was great. Food was brilliant and a lovely atmosphere and busy for a Monday evening! Would defo recommend! Thank you for a lovely meal.

Second visit and as amazing as the first. The food is excellent, the best ragu sauce I've had outside of Italy. The staff are lovely and friendly and make the whole thing a relaxed time.

Lovely owners and staff, seriously let down by the quality of food served. We have been to Italy many times and this did not replicate authentic cuisine. All dishes were below average, bland served with/on unseasoned, undressed shredded iceberg lettuce. Compare this to Luigi’s just round the corner, a rocket salad with olive oil, balsamic glaze toasted pine nuts and parmigiana shavings. I don’t think I have been to an Italian restaurant where we have not been offered fresh black pepper or Parmesan as the food is served. It is these small offerings that make up the experience of dining out. We are local and would not return, a shame as the location is good. “margini di miglioramento”

Great food and service with a smile!

As I am from an Italian family I know authentic Italian cuisine, however bella amalfi representation of authentic Italian cuisine was to a very poor standard, the ingredients were cheap the owner was very loud and overbearing. I wouldn't eat here again.

Fantastic, unbelievable food and service, it was so good I even had dessert washed down by a selection of shots provided by the owner. Marco and Marie know their stuff and provide a fabulous experience with the food and service here.

Fantastic night out celebrating our daughters exam results, if you want an Italian night out in sandwich then this is the place to go, brilliant food atmosphere and service, family run and we were all made to feel welcome, a real slice of Italy in sandwich. Haha 👏♥️🙏👍🏻

Average pizza, dough too thick, cheap ingredients but pizza express prices. Seafood on the menu which looked good but expensive. Basic tables and chairs, the plates kept slipping as there's no table cloth etc and the pizza is hard to cut.
