Visited today and also last time ,when the Artisan market was on.I was treating a friend to lunch .We both opted for ploughman’s .When it arrived ,it consisted of Two tiny wedges of cheese , two slices of ham, with lettuce and tomato. Two tiny tubs of coleslaw and branstan pickle and sliced bread. We had already waited over 20 mins .After we had started eating we were each given a bag of crisps ,recently bought from a local shop.Disappointed

Went for lunch today. The vegetable soup and corned beef hash were delicious and homemade. The cakes again were all homemade and lovely, gluten free options available for lunch and dessert. Would highly recommend.

We visit Sweet Vintage usually at least once a week and absolutely love it there. The staff are absolutely amazing and will try to accommodate anything you may need. They are welcoming and friendly. The decor is lovely and I always look forward to seeing what cute China set I'll get for my pot of tea. My children love going there and not just for the ice-cream! I always recommend people to go here and make sure I bring my friends and their families. It really is the hub of the market square.

Enjoyed our afternoon tea during the summer holidays (on National Afternoon Tea week). Paying a deposit up front wasn't a problem and the new normal rules explained well. We both had the afternoon tea. Everything tasted very good from sandwiches to cakes and scone. Its a traditional country cafe style afternoon tea as opposed to more refined affair but I enjoy both types. The crisps, salad and pie a nice touch. A selection of teas would have been nice but till the standard tea was good and plentiful in cute vintage china. I finished with a sundae which was fine, the ice cream had slight ice crystals though. The price was fair, maybe a touch high for the area.

What a lovely place it is. The food is excellent and because I am gluten intolerant, I can eat my lunch in confidence that I won't be ill. They do ordinary food food as well, for people that don't have a problem with gluten, and do vegan food as well. And its decorated really well, like a proper old English tea room. Brill. There should be more places that cater for people with different food requirements.

came for the brass band festival, and found this place, where you could get a decent cup of tea or English coffee, lovely hidden tearoom with homemade cakes and sandwiches, the beef ones were Delicious and the lemon cake so moist and light and full flavour, they also sold old fashioned sweets so that was another inch round my waist walkers treacle toffee plus icecream and tables outside we had a wonderful day in Darren and this place was so handy, friendly and no rush, more sweets to take home look forward to next september

We have popped in for lunch on a few occasions and always been very happy. We had the lemon drizzle cake on Saturday and it was EXCELLENT. We are lemon drizzle cake aficionados and this one is the very best we have ever had!! Shame we shared a slice - next time it will be a full on slice each!! See you soon!

The Sweet Shop & Vintage Tea Rooms is one of the gems of Darwen. I go in regularly to buy pear drops mainly. There's a great selection of cakes and drinks. If you fancy some old fashioned sweets there is also a sweet shop part of this establishment, keep it local don't go to the likes of Ye Old Sweet Shop and pay ridiculous prices, get yourselves to The Sweet Shop & Vintage Tea Rooms. Had a fantastic cup of tea here last week and the service is spot on.

We were attracted by the situation at the front of the market hall, It is based in an old fashioned sweet shop with lots a big jars of sweets. We were greeted by the owner Rebecca, everything is really pretty, well presented and very tasty. There is good selection on the menu and at very reasonable prices. We had the Ploughmans lunch, it was well worth it, really good ham, creamy Lanashire cheese, salad as you want it, cole slaw, sweet pickle(Branston), luxury potato crisps and choice of brown or white bread. The coffe is real, not instant and the tea is loose leaf made in a pot just for you. Loads of cakes to choose from and afternoon tea too. We will be back next time we are in the area.

It was a Friday night at 9.30pm and Euro 2024 was on when we went in. We expected it to be packed with the Friday night crowd watching the football but to our amazement there was only our party of 4 plus one more chap in there!! There were 2 ladies who served us who were very pleasant. The beer was decent, the room is clean & well decorated but let's hope it has busier times than this through the week, otherwise I fear the worst!
