I would highly recommend the Korean BBQ chicken burger. It was delicious!

Well, here we are on a lovely Sunday evening so the wife and I decide to go to the Swan at Newtown and have a drink and a bite to eat and take the dogs its a beautiful evening why not. So I rang the pub to just ask what time does the kitchen close only to be told in 5 minutes so basically 7pm !!!!! Well, I ask you, what sort of pub is this? Normally when I go there the food is pretty good and the service is the same but on a Sunday evening at 7pm its still 28 degrees outside and people are pouring in for food and drink and you want to close the kitchen! What type of business people are you?? You must be having a laugh between the hours of 7pm and 10pm you probably would have taken another £1000, if not more, are you totally stupid or what I must ask?? I get it, in the winter time you close early because of lack of trade but a night like tonight shame on you. I used to come once a week with my wife if not twice and spend between £100 and £150 every week. Well my friends not any more. I think you are pathetic and have no idea how to run a business successfully but then Ive heard this already from others that have been in and that actually drink in the pub that the owners attitude stinks and they haven't got a clue so I will not be coming in anymore and I will be telling a lot of others the same and if you knew how influential I was you would realise that you really need to leave the pub trade altogether and get jobs. To sum it all up your a JOKE!!

Great little pub hidden away. Food was absolutely gorgeous! You can sit outside next to the brook and it's very picturesque. Good food selection and fast service. It was unclear how you order food however, there were no menus on the tables and when I went up and asked a waitress (who was talking to her collegue) I was told I'd have to wait in line at the bar to get a menu from there. It wasn't the end of the world, but a very minor annoyance. Other than that, great little spot for food and a drink!

We had dinner with friends visiting from Mexico, staff were attentive and the pub clean and tidy, although the food was nice it was not exceptional. We would visit again though

Never seen so much sauce on a chicken burger. Quite disgusting.

It's an easy place to find, just south of Newbury. It has a nice garden with a small stream running through it. It is dog friendly and SE facing. I went on a Sunday so I had beef, it was a very large portion @ 17.95. The menu has all the usual pub classics as well. I will go back again.

Stunning place by the little river

It's a very cozy place, I can only recommend it. 500-year-old building, historical atmosphere, delicious food and drinks. It fits very well into the world of rural England. I really liked it. The service is very nice and friendly.

We had a lovely lunch. The food was delicious and we couldn’t fault the service! The only criticism was that we found it a bit expensive. We will definitely be back though!

We were stuck out of the way and service was terrible, forgetting what we ordered, 20 mins to get a beer, we gave up and went to the bar to pay, but I suspect we should have just walked out as I doubt they would have noticed! There are better pubs around for food and service.

I've been to the Swan Inn a few times and it was lovely food and great service. It seems in the last year since our last visit the ownership has changed and there is noticeable change, the portion sizes for roast dinner are massive! I struggled to eat everything on the plate which in turn creates a lot of food waste, which is probably why everything there is now so expensive. Just two drinks and two roasts and the price was £52 including a "service charge" which always irritates me as tips are a gift not a right. A lemonade are £4, I mean come on guys that's just daylight robbery! Then we get to our table, my Mum was sat outwards and complained to me quietly about the staff passing her and constantly bashing into her chair, due to the kitchen being nearby. We then had a party group seated opposite us who were incredibly noisy and gave me a headache which is why we decided to just have our food and leave. Sorry to say it but I won't be returning here anymore if that's how the new management want to run things.

Another visit ... Seems the ownership has changed? Certainly menu is very different. Choice was somewhat limited, especially compared to previous menu. Three pig burger was nice; filling were good, fries were fine, but the burger was pink ? ... however as had been pointed out, it does have chorizo in it, so that could be the pink? Not good especially as its pork ... seriously thinking of sending it back 🤔 For me, a brioche bun is not a good choice for a burger, it falls apart when you pick it up 😕 Staff mainly friendly & helpful.

A great pub, excellent service and good food for adults and children. The staff are understandable too and happily changed the kids ice cream at no charge when they had a melt down and wanted the chocolate instead of the vanilla!

Lovely waitress, environment is lovely and clean, food is yummy (roast pork dinner), overall highly recommended!

We had an excellent impromptu lunch here. The menu had been refreshed since our last visit which was lovely. All freshly prepared and the service was superb. We came in for food after a long drive. The staff were friendly and accomodating and the food was amazing. I had the 3 little pigs burger and it has to be one of the best burgers I've ever had. Not one complaint about the food or the service. Shame its such a long way from home otherwise we would definitely be coming back.

Use this pub regularly. Good for cheap pub grub. I regularly use the sizzling app for discounts which usually goes wrong! Be warned check the discount has come off your bill correctly because it probably hasn't!!

Long Bank Holiday weekend with a visit to Highclere, after travelling 350 MLS we fell on the Swan en route. First night we had Exmoor sausages, mash and onion gravy, just what the doctor ordered. So we came back the next night to the delights of their steak pie and Korean chicken burger. What a treat! Special mention in dispatches to Darcy who was delightful, in fact the whole team is a joy. Highly recommended.

Lovely pub that does it all, cosy in the rain with seating for drinks or food, and an amazing outside area surrounding a small stream for when the suns out. Some lovely beers, great food, and always really friendly service. All facilities clean and kept well, plus they have treats for dogs, so always made to feel welcomed. Oh and they cater well for gluten free

Visited the pub after a trip to Highclere Castle. Sunday lunch was great, although the portion was huge, so we left a fair bit. Compared to some prices nowadays the meal was good value. Would recommend.

Dissapointing. We booked up for lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary and made the mistake of not checking the menu first. Up to the recent change in ownership, the food had been consistently reliable. Unfortunately, the new 'fusion' menu only had a couple of items that we fancied eating. We would have had the pie but it had sold out so we ended up after a long wait with two watery Thai curries. The experiance was not enhanced by the strong smell eminating from the toilet next to our table every time the door opened. While the food was poor, the staff were friendly and tried to be helpful. To be fair, when the manager saw how upset we were by the whole experience he didn't charge us for the food.

In desperation to get out of terrible holiday traffic we took a turn off and vowed to stop at the first pub we saw. Thankfully it was the Swan Inn! Lovely location, with ample parking (including enough space for a campervan), excellent service and a solid pub menu. Outside has a lovely stream and seating that would have been nice on a slightly warmer day.

Gorgeous food, really lovely service and a nice atmosphere. The vegan options are really lovely, and they feel like they are well considered and not just an afterthought. We would absolutely come back!

Family get together for Sunday lunch. Staff were very attentive and welcoming. We had roasts which were huge and tasty. Pork was fatty but the other meats were fine. Plenty of gravy and cauliflower cheese was one of the nicest I've had. Steak and Ale pie was lovely too. Thanks to Sam our waiter, we will be back.

Best Sunday roast you will find. I travel 25 miles every other week for the Sunday roast.

Just attended a Cheese & Beer evening at The Swan, with Jessie and Carl, and Mark from the Woodhouse family brewery giving a fun and informative chat on the brewery's beers. 5 different bottles of beer to taste and plenty of cheese to accompany each new brew. Really enjoyable night and only £10 too! Highly recommend.

Absolutely disgusting meal ! The meat was pure fat the veg was hard . The staff were very rude slamming drinks on the table didn’t say thank you as we left, was also told there was no cauliflower cheese and then they brought one out it was cold and wasn’t cooked at all . Wouldn’t go back ever again very disappointed!!

Went for Sunday lunch with my Granddaughter. Really friendly staff, great food, enormous portions and good service. Dog friendly, good value. Will definitely return.

Overpriced food and soft drinks, portion sizes were bad. £3.95 for not even half a pint of orange squash. Table service was excellent though.

We had an Xmas dinner there recently. The food and beer was very good indeed. Staff very friendly and efficient. All served without due delay. Compliments to the chef.

We just had the best Christmas Day experience here. We had fantastic warm friendly service and Darcy made it even better.

Had a family Christmas meal on Thursday. Great staff, food was lovely (we all ate from the festive menu) and the portion sizes were generous. We just picked The Swan as a random meeting place for a far flung family and glad we did. Absolutely recommend it and will return. Very well organised and didn't wait long for our food.

After finding out you had a festive menu for a decent price I booked a table for myself and a friend who came up from Bournemouth. We were both looking forward to our lunch but when we arrived we were told the festive menu had to be pre-booked, this was not on the website or the festive menu which I downloaded. We were both obviously very disappointed and left to eat somewhere else. Really think in future that the festive menu should mention food needs to be pre-booked.

Me and my partner booked a table for 2 for Sunday lunch. We arrived on time and were promptly shown to our table. Unfortunately this is when things started going a bit wrong. It took 25 minutes and we had to almost grab a member of the team to get them to come to our table to take any form of order. The gentleman who did eventually take our order did apologies for the delay and our drinks came quickly then This wasn't the end of the issues though sadly, our food arrived and was very tasty but the side order we had ordered did not follow until 10 minutes after everything else. We also asked for some sauces but these never arrived. It's a shame the service was so painfully slow and any time a member of staff came to our table they just dumped things and ran away as quickly as they could.

Lovely place to meet with friends. Very accomodating, and dog friendly. Everyone enjoyed the evening and the food.

Went here for a birthday meal. Won't visit again. 10 on the table. No drinks order being taken. Took 30 mins to take food order. Yorkshire puddings were rock hard. Not enough gravy had to ask for more. Wasn't offered sauces again gad to ask. Waited 30 mins for plates to be taken away asked for tea and coffees. Took 30 mins to make then didn't bring milk or spoons had to ask for them. Just a main meal Took 2 1/2 hours. Rude staff who are not attentive at all.

Sunday lunch was excellent. Excellent roasts. We felt that we were dining in a library as there was lots of old books with in reach. One roast was forgotten, but quickly fixed. We will return

Very friendly and helpful staff, hospitable too. Lovely log burner going. Had Gamon/Egg/Chips with pineapple too, very mmmmmm. 😋 Have also had a fab Caesar salad on last visit.

This is our "local" and has recently been taken over by new people. You never know how that will go! Luckily they are great. Very friendly and welcoming, as are the serving staff, who are also very efficient. Happy to spend time here. I can't comment on the food as I'm not a food person, but I've heard it's good. Great range of Badger beers . Very cosy, without overpowering music or TVs ruining the atmosphere, a problem in a lot of places. I'm lucky to have this as my local pub.

I, and many others I know, used to drive an hour to come here for the halloumi fries. Best in the country by miles. Unfortunately we won't be going back until the halloumi is. No disrespect to the team, especially the chefs, since I was informed it was the new managers doing.

Lack of dietary/allergy care. Cheese on a dish requested as vegan for allergy reasons. Was met with some hostility when questioned. This is the most important thing for a place that sells food. Otherwise, an absolutely stunning place- outside seating in the sun was divine with the little creek right next to us. Cozy interior.

Great welcome as soon as we stepped through the door by the new owner. Service was cheery and fast. Portions were generous, and the food was wholesome and delicious. Wish we lived closer in order to be able to visit again. Good space for parking, clean and pleasant surroundings too.

We just had a wonderful three course meal at the Swan. The man and lady who served us when we got there were so attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, lots of options to choose from and incredibly good quality. It's great that they serve food all day and they're really dog friendly which was so nice.

Went to the Swan last night and after looking at the reviews and menu, we were expecting a great experience for our anniversary. Unfortunately, while the service was great, the food was dreadful. I get that it was midweek, however when you’re serving clearly frozen starters (squid) and a beef bourguignon that was microwaved, dry and with claggy and lumpy mash potato, thrown on the plate with zero care, you have to question what’s going on in the kitchen there. It’s the first time I’ve ever sent back a meal and left a restaurant. Just for the chefs info, we went to the Cote brassiere after this and had a fantastic bourguignon for the same price that looked like the attached photo instead of something that looked and tasted like you don’t care about the food you make. Note also that the couple next to us had one spoonful of their dessert and quickly left, it was clear it wasn’t just us that were experiencing a poor show last night. It’s a shame as the front of house staff were great and the pub has huge potential.

A good place to visit for a nice drink and good food

Very disappointed we booked for 5.30 pm on a Sunday to treat ourselves to a Sunday Roast as previously advertised on the website. We arrived and no sign of a Sunday roast in sight, handed a regular menu and when we asked about the website advertised Roast dinners were told they had run out. Had we have known they had stopped doing them we would have not attended, instead we eneded up with food we did not really want. Since checking the website on our return home no sign of Sunday Roasts. We won't revisit

Visited this lovely place for lunch recently. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious and good portion sizes. We felt this was really good value for money. Service was fast, we didn’t have to wait long for anything (not that it mattered too much as the ambience of the place was good). Everything seemed tidy and clean too which was good. They had a picturesque outdoor area and dogs are welcome too which is a bonus. I think the dog areas are separate though, if you aren’t keen on being around them. We will be returning again for sure.

Popped in for an early lunch with a buddy, her baby and dog, after a walk on Greenham Common. Staff were very accommodating, good beers, excellent food. Very lovely beer garden. Would recommend and come back.

Fantastic ambience & service let down by missing menu items and somewhat underwhelming food & coffee. Very good toilets, easy parking, cracking ale on tap plus a wood burning stove. I'd still go back, especially as they don't restrict their opening hours! ❤️
