All round great experience here. They were short staffed when we attended but the staff were very polite and attentive. The food was top notch too! Had fish and chips, with brownie for dessert, which was delicious! Would love to visit again.

Beautiful pub and food, fab ambiance and this was my 2nd visit. Wee bit disappointed with the waiter, a young boy who seemed to be too busy cleaning cutlery instead of overseeing the customers. We had to call out loud for his attention to order more drink and desserts

As someone who is gluten intolerant it can be a challenge to find suitable items on a menu. Unfortunately the menu at The Swan Inn was almost impossible. I was faced with a steak as my only main course choice…..not even a salad! (Which is the ‘get out’ choice for unimaginative chefs!) Nowadays there are over 7 million people who are gluten sensitive and over 30 million vegetarian/vegans. About time menus changed. My family all had reasonable ’pub’ meals, as in chips plus! Apart from the lovely location I really cannot recommend this restaurant

Food is absolutely excellent. My only disappointment were the chips and the quality although edible did not go with the standard of the rest of the meal.

Our party was two couples. Initial impressions are that the building and decoration is beautiful and lots of car parking. Quiet when we arrived, which was lucky as they were unable to find our booking. Menus were provided quickly and staff friendly and helpful. We all ordered the Sunday roast, one beef and three mixed meats. Drinks slow to arrive. Food was hot, portion sizes very different despite ordering same thing - dry chicken, grey beef and although pork was nice only a tiny portion. Dessert menus were quick to arrive and then we were left waiting for ages. Although we had all decided to have coffee and dessert the long wait time made us all decide to not bother in the end. Overall, nice venue, average food, friendly staff with slow service.

Visited here on Sunday 25th to celebrate a family birthday. Haven’t been for a few years and was pleasantly surprised how the restaurant now looks. Lovely interior, good choice of food and drinks and more importantly lovely friendly staff. The restaurant also had a lovely atmosphere. We were looked after by Angelina and she got everything right. We all had the Sunday roast and were not disappointed. I will defiantly be visiting here again as I can’t wait to try out more of the menu options.

The person who served us was very patient and helpful with my dietary needs. I’m sorry I cannot remember her name. There was a mix up with my pudding and she sorted it with no problem and with a smile. The food was good and we all enjoyed what we ordered.

I like this old fashioned pub with a restaurant attached. They look after their beer and currently serve my favourite, Sharpes Jubilant. You can drink in or out and plenty of parking

I visit the Swan regularly because of the amazing staff, friendly atmosphere and excellent service. Angelina served me today and as always, served me with enthusiasm, professionalism and an ever glowing smile. Would recommend this place to anyone.

We went to the Swan for dinner twice in the last couple of weeks, each time to celebrate a family birthday. Both evenings were absolutely fantastic. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely (midweek, but not too quiet). As always, the staff were attentive and super friendly, made us feel so welcome. We like to have a nice slow dinner, and they made sure that the kitchen knew that and spaced out the courses nicely. They surprised my daughter by bringing out a little brownie dessert with a candle, singing Happy Birthday. It is all those little things that make dinner at the Swan special for us.

Can’t recommend dishes as most of them weren’t available , no steak, no chunky chips no fish n chips , despite booking for a birthday meal for 6 in advance as a favourite go to restaurant felt very disappointed & let down haven’t been back. (When this was raised lack of response was poor)

I don’t usually bother to review unless I have a strong opinion on something 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 This pub is exceptional in every way, a glimpse into the past, with exceptional aesthetics and seating-indoor and out, friendly staff, and (Brit lifer) some of the best thrice cooked English chips I’ve tasted, bar none (chunky fries). Please give this place a try and make it your local, or at least see how it can be in todays version of a stellar local ❤️

I've been there for a midweek out with friends.I have found the place very cosy with helpful and friendly staff. Rear garden will be perfect for anyone who wants to be surrounded by nature.due to some circumstances we didn't have had chance to try their food but I can say with no doubt that from the kitchen from time to time was there a very tasty smell coming out. I strongly recommend to all who pass these premises to not hesitate to stop to dine in of for a quick pint 😉

The food here is reliably good, the service is excellent and the prices are relatively fair despite being on the high side for a village pub. I will always recommend the burgers and the fish and chips, and there is always a good selection of beers on draught.

My family and I popped into The Swan last minute without booking. We were greeted by an extremely cheerful staff member Craig who seated us and served us throughout our visit. Food was excellent and Craig made our visit even more enjoyable as he was very attentive.

This is a great spot with an amazing atmosphere. The blonde… Caitlin, had exceptional customer service and made me feel irrefutably welcomed. Management and all the staff were a testament to what great customer service should look like. This is a truly special place.

We had a booking today for Fathers Day at table 74, 4 people at 1pm, and I just have to leave this review for the sake of the staff. First of all, we were running a couple of mins late - called ahead, and the staff were very accommodating. We had a lovely time, food was a tad slow (but it was Fathers Day, and a Sunday, where EVERYONE wants Sunday lunch!) Drinks were quick and we could order at the bar if we needed. Atmosphere was lovely, even though the staff were clearly slammed, and my impression was they were a couple people short today; not their fault. When we arrived, we couldn’t be met and seated right away, but only because some entitled prong was bullying the lady on host for so long, she couldn’t physically leave the conversation. From what I could gather, he had been given a table, but this absolute melon did not LIKE the table he was given. I heard every word of the exchange. He said he was going to ‘hang around’ and ‘give her a hard time’. He berated and belittled the poor staff member so much that she was near tears by the time she got to us, and when she was saying sorry to him , multiple times, this human manifestation of an ingrown toenail shouted ‘no you’re not’ over his shoulder as he stropped out the door, saying ‘you’ll be hearing from me’. I need to make it clear - if you do hear from this idiot - he’s chatting garbage. The staff could not have been nicer today, on a day where things were very difficult (and I believe a system glitch had occurred with bookings too??). Not only had they been able to give the guy a table, they’d managed to do it where there was no table to give, according to the broken system. The lady was nothing but professional and apologetic about the situation where frankly, the guy was acting like a complete child. I do not want this lady dragged in a low review where is it not deserved at all, I wish I had her name but she was wearing a blue shirt, and she had come in today when she was supposed to be off. She seated us at table 74 very quickly, offered water straight away, and was a joy to speak to when we were leaving. Props to her, and her colleagues who were all working so hard today. No one deserves to be bullied in their place of work. Thank you Swan Inn for another lovely experience. Myself and my family will always come back, your staff do an excellent job and the food is great, even on the busiest days of the week.

Cosy, historic village pub. Good food, nice choice of beers from BrewPoint and the people working here are great.

We were a party of six and we meet up about 4 times a year for lunch. We were unimpressed with the menu choices and the specials. We all agreed that compared to other local venues the food was overpriced

Poor service, gone downhill and doesn’t respect regular, local customers. As the table said next to us as they left their table to find their own cutlery: “be careful, they might give you a job” whilst their two waitresses chatted and sat on their phones. I’m a business owner who has brought my staff to this restaurant regularly for the last 2-3 years. We have come here for the last two Christmas meals, birthdays and a summer event, as well as being here at Christmas with friends and family. Today we visited and was completely embarrassed as one of your new waitresses refused my 23-year-old lad a beer with his food because he didn’t have ID. This person didn’t know the law and had to go get the former bartender but now manager, to come over and explain why he can’t have a drink. The manager did not care that we were regular customers who spent £500 at Christmas on a work dinner, nor the sheer logic of using your brain that a boss taking his team out isn’t buying 15-year-olds their first beer at lunch. Unfortunately the pair of them were in Computer Says No mode, repeating “Challenge 25” like anybody in the 10-15 years that has existed, has ever used that whilst asking a 23-year-old for ID with a pub lunch. The word I believe is jobsworths. Aside from that extremely frustrating and outright ridiculous experience, the service has gone completely downhill in six months. The previous manager has left, the newly promoted bartender is out of her depth, and two replacements are more bothered about their nails and phones than serving customers (over an hour for some burgers and 30 minutes for our first drinks). I hope the owner reads this and understands first and foremost how important local customers and businesses are. For us to explain we was here at Christmas and you served our lad a pint, last summer, and the Christmas before, and yet you simply do not care and essentially call us liars: seriously?! It’s one beer. I will never return to this pub again unfortunately. A shame considering we spend around £1,000 a year with you. Have a word with your waitresses and the explain that using that brain sometimes goes a long way.

A beautiful pub in lovely rural surroundings just minutes from the busy main roads of MK. Rather a hidden gem. A lovely welcome, looked after throughout our visit, by Abi with a permanent smile. Everything was really enjoyable, will be back & totally recommend.

Lovely little pub. Had the chicken burger, which was nice, my only complaint about it was the amount of actual burger was miniscule compared to the amount of bun.

Really good food and lovely country pub feel, right in the city. Only minus was that we couldn't get dessert because of cut off - we would have ordered early if offered.

A wonderful experience all round for my husband and I with very attentive and helpful service from Angelina! Especially liked the seafood risotto with sea bass on top.

We’re local to The Swan and have supported them all the way. The new head chef and kitchen team are doing a fantastic job, the gravy with the Sunday Roast was delicious! A big thank you to Craig and Angelina who served us, they both were attentive and knew when we needed anything without being obtrusive. The staff always find time for a chat and are committed to making The Swan a great place to visit. We’re looking forward to the events happening in the future and delicious food and drink!

Lovely pub, delicious meal and wonderful service from our waitress Leigh (I hope I got that right) who made a special effort to make our night memorable.

My first time at this restaurant the food was really really good nice starter good portion size but I have to say the main course was amazing I had a pork cider pie off the Specials menu and it is one of the best pies that I have ever had. The filling had pulled pork which just fell apart but it was still really moist and it had lots of flavour. The pie came with kill colcannon mash which was really nice and some cabbage and carrots which were really tasty as well, and for dessert I had a treacle tart which hit the spot as well. In addition to this the design of the restaurant was really nice and the staff were friendly. Would highly recommend.

Delicious food and great service. This was a last minute dinner decision with some colleagues. Ramona made us feel welcome and wowed us with her local beer knowledge. Will definitely return to try more of the Bedford Stout.

We haven’t been to the Swan for a few months even though this was our local as our last visit in December was disappointing due to poor service , but we decided to pop in and give it a go again . We are so glad we did . The food was fantastic and the service exceptional especially from Angelina . She was so attentive and even though she was looking after many customers we never felt that we were ignored. We had a lovely chat with the new manager and it was nice to hear about the recent changes which can be clearly seen in both the service and food. Thanks again and we definitely be back very soon . It was also lovely to see a week of events to support mental health week in May which we will be back to support.

The food was first class along with the service. When we arrived our table was ready but we were not rushed and had a drink at the bar. The menu was small but I would say that was a plus as it was a good well balanced menu with all the favorites.The food was well cooked and a lot of it we didn't wait long to be served and we were given plenty of time between courses. There were a few groups eating but we felt that the waitress was focused on our table and made sure we had a good time. We will defiantly be going back.

A very nice pub in Milton Keynes Village. Went there for a birthday, 2 adults and 3 kids. - Starters were surprisingly small for their price. A single small kofta for £8?? - Main course food was really good all round and felt like great value for the sizes and quality. The beef brisket in pasty was awesome. - Desserts didn’t blow us away. The apple pie dessert felt like it had just come out the freezer with some cinnamon dusted over it, but the rest were good. The pub itself is nice and feels traditional, yet with a gastropub vibe. Overall, worth a visit and would like to try other dishes.

We had family celebration with our children & grandchildren at The Swan on 13th April. Excellent food, service & atmosphere. A special mention of our waitress, Angelina, who was particularly helpful in going through the menu with our son in law who has allergies & looked after us well including taking a group photo for us.

Cosy gastro pub, very homley good food and drink choices.

Food below standard and service very casual, lots of staff just chatting and inattentive to bad food supplied. One of the four meals ordered, we sent back, fish and chips not a challenging English dish to get right. But lots of bones in the fish and bits of plastic. One meal Thai green curry, lacking flavour and tasted powdery maybe from the sauce base mix. The sausage and mask looked like cheap supermarket packaged sausages. Not sure who is running this place, but very disappointed, won’t be returning.

Lovely food, great atmosphere and fantastic staff. So kind with my elderly mother. The only niggle was the beef wasn't pink which it said it would be on the menu.

Pretty average and overpriced for the quality of food. Our server informed us that the Sunday roast lunch extras had already ran out and that the lamb was dry and tough. So I ordered the chicken roast which was also very dry and underwhelming. The stuffing balls were very bland and artificial tasting. The staff were very good however, and there was a nice atmosphere in the pub.

Had a great night with my Canadian friend and was served by 2 lovely ladies Caitlin and Josie! We all had a great time chatting about our travels!

Great food, great service even though it was a very busy Mother’s Day

This is a regular haunt for me to meet up with friends when visiting Milton Keynes. It’s consistently good - lovely service, delicious food, interesting menu and very attractive decor. It’s a pleasure to eat there!

Really special Mothering Sunday lunch, lovely food and great service.

My Mother felt so special fir her ‘Mother’s Day’ meal at The Swan Inn, staff were amazingly and sincerely kind to us - and giving Mum a free ‘Mother’s Day’ cocktail was a lovely start to our meal. I noticed that every table had the first name of whosoever had booked the table - such a nice touch - but best of all was a Happy Mother’s Day card from the staff. All guests received these welcome gestures, not just us. Most important was the food, which was astounding - innovative presentation of excellent ingredients cooked to perfection. All in all the best restaurant experience for many years.

Food very good, service average, drinks prices ridiculous pint of Stella over £6, really? Had the lunch set menu, some items not available, most hilarious was the fact that out of the dessert options only ONE was available! You can choose a dessert from the main menu, at extra cost! Overall rather disappointed at the lack of choices on offer. But, as I said above, quality food.

Friday 01/03/2024. Just arrived home after a very disappointing experience in your restaurant. Arrived at 13.25. Young lady came to take our order. So far so good. But then we were told there were no lamb shanks, plus two other dishes not available.(can’t remember what they were) so we both ordered Beef pie and mash. Not the most suitable meal on our 56th wedding anniversary. When it arrived the plate was cold as was the food, so we complained and the waitress then exchanged them for two more. The plates were cold again but the pies and mash were hot. The pudding menu had 2 items missing, so we settled for apple crumble and treacle tart. It was at times rather cold in the restaurant, but it did warm up when sun shone through the windows. The final bill comprising of 2 glasses of wine, 175/125 ml half a shandy 2 pie and mash, 1 whole grain mustard and 2 puddings came £66.88, although the waitress did deduct £8.00 for the bad experience. Total bill £58.88. Not the best wedding anniversary lunch we have ever had, So we will not be back for our 60th. James Goff

After a change in the kitchen and a new chef we were so pleased our local was back to its old high standards. We both had the lamb shank special roast and it was delicious. We’d hoped we might have had room for dessert but we were too full, maybe next time. Service was as usual brilliant. It was lovely to see it busy in both the bar and the restaurant.

We had a lovely meal at the Swan and the waitresses Angelina and Catlin were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble they really looked after the four of us and made a very pleasant evening. We will definitely be back and hopefully we will be served again by Angelina and Catlin 😊

We always find that the Swan is a great choice for a meal out and our latest visit (five friends for a 60th birthday celebration) was no exception. Thanks to Caitlin and Craig for great friendly, attentive service, despite it being a busy Friday night. The food was delicious as ever. The layout of the restaurant is very relaxed and welcoming, and we didn’t feel at all rushed at the end of the meal. Always happy to recommend!

Wow. What a great meal. The food was just fantastic. It has improved no end since my last visit. Craig is just so attentive and fabulous. Honestly give it a try the change of chef has made such a difference.

Me and my husband visited this restaurant yesterday evening and it did not disappoint. We were seated by a lovely young lady who we didn't get the name of, but was brilliant all throughout the service. We both had starters and mains and they were absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere was exactly what you would expect on valentines evening, the table was set with rose petals and a lovely candle in the middle. The service, food and atmosphere was on point. We can't wait to return.

Celebrated a birthday with our friend who hadn’t visited before,our Sunday roast was as always fresh,hot and delicious. The staff here are always friendly,the bar and restaurant comfortable year round and our chosen for consistently great service!

Food, service & atmosphere was exceptional..... First time visiting & had Sunday lunch. I had the Nut Roast which had replaced normal veg Wellington & my friend had the pork belly. BEST NUT ROAST I had tasted in a long time. When we can, we like to treat ourselves to Sunday lunch. So have been to a few pub/restaurants around MK over the past year & have to say this is now one of our top 2.

This is our local pub so when my Dad turned 80 last week we went for Sunday lunch as a family. We were asked to pre-order, sent several links with different menus due to IT issues. Arrived to be told 2 people couldn’t have their choice of main as they had no more pies. Starters were lovely Mistakes with mains as special instructions were not read. Ran out of vanilla ice cream Another mistake with one of the desserts There were lots of apologies and alternatives offered but on one occasion we felt the lead waitress was passive aggressive with her approach almost making us feel that we were in the wrong for the mistakes that were happening. Also I noticed an eye roll after one discussion with my dad with our waitress. We did get a complimentary something off the bill but all in all our experience could of been so much better.

£18 for 2 yummy courses from set lunch / early evening menu. As we tried each other dishes can thoroughly recommend the Sea Bass and seafood risotto and the pulled pork bonbon (1 with dauphinoise and 1 with gorgeous chips). All 3 desserts tried and shared and couldn't decide best - though sticky toffee pudding with coffee bean caramel sauce followed as a close second by salted caramel creme brulelle probably right order (but very close). Not a fast service but as cooked to order more than acceptable! Great staff

Went for a family dinner on a Tuesday night and ordered 2 sea bass risotto, a sirloin steak and 2 burgers. We are local and we have been trying to convince ourselves that it would get better. It hasn’t. This is a Gordons Nightmare in need of a major makeover in the kitchen. The risotto was swimming in grease and totally inedible. Steak was overcooked and truffle fries were covered in cold cheese … it was pretty bad. We really wanted this to be good but it wasn’t. Last time we went the steak was again overcooked but the chicken burger was pink - that’s the first time I’ve ever sent food back. I’m done now - we wont be coming back for food unless it starts to get better reviews. Next time I think the Wavendon Arms or the Carrington Arms - they really know how to do good pub food.

This spot used to be lovely but our experience was really poor. In the middle of January the heating wasnt working, there were sporadic heaters around but they really didnt keep the place warm. They were short staffed, our food was late and we watched the waitresses at the pass touch the meat on every plate to check how warm it was. Totally unacceptable. Our roast dinner was mediocre, only the slice of roast beef and the yorkshire pudding were nice, everything else on the plate was undercooked. Very disappointed. Will not be coming back.
