Today my friend and I enjoyed a lovely breakfast at the Swallows Nest. I would like to say thank you to the chef for the great food that was freshly prepared and the gentleman who looked after us who was professional and really attentive. We will be back.

Food and service excellent. The staff are very friendly and courteous, the bar area caters for those with dogs and there is also a separate dining area for those who prefer a more personal service. Food menu is varied and of high quality. A great place to eat and relax.

Pleasant staff and surroundings. Extremely dog friendly, more dogs than patrons so good if you want to take your dog.

Excellent service. Just left and had to big them up.

Refreshingly there are unusual items on the menu. Plus Aspalls on draught

Lovely experience couldn't fault it until was asked to move sears at 8.40pm cause a 12 year old parents want to sit in the bar area next to a group of lads

We came in for a family breakfast for my mum's birthday today and without booking ahead we were able to get a table without any issues. The service was friendly and they were able to accommodate a few minor requests around the kid's breakfasts which was appreciated. Sausages and bacon were all nicely cooked and the hash browns and grilled tomatoes were good. The drinks were good and for me personally one of the better cappuccinos that I've had in a pub. Sadly then we come to the negatives. Firstly, in a virtually empty pub, 10 of us couldn't be seated together so we were split across 2 opposite tables which made it feel like we were in 2 groups rather than 1. There was no room to be able to combit the tables so we were having to physically move between tables to speak to each other. Almost all breakfasts were ordered with poached eggs, and not a single one amongst us had even a remotely runny yolk. One of the reasons I would always order a poached egg over any other kind is because it's usually easier to guarantee the runny yolk. My wife and sister both ordered the avocado on toast and I honestly don't know what was going on with it but it was disgusting. I can only imagine that the avocado had been pre-portioned out and frozen to be thawed to order, because the texture was just wrong, the colour was off and it was bland and watery and managed to taste nothing like avacado. And for the £11-12 price tag, you would expect at least fresh avacado. My wife would normally polish a dish like this off, but are less than half of hers. My sister also left a lot of hers uneaten too. Most of the dishes came with toast which was not great. It was quite thin and with very evenly golden brown all over which is unusual. Not quite sure how it had been prepared but it was incredibly dry like a Melba toast. Even the portion of butter provided couldn't save it and it was tough and chewy to eat. Again texture wise everything was just off. Unfortunately, of the 10 of us that dined today, none of us actually had a meal without issues. It was nice to get together with family, but the food and overall experience was not great and not one we would wish to repeat so we will likely not return.

Absolutely fantastic experience. Booked for my daughters hen meal with nannies etc. (before onward bound in to Birmingham). Staff were so attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. I didn’t get the name of the young man who served us but he was so thoughtful and attentive. Food was fabulous and all hot even though 19 of us. Would absolutely recommend. Thank you for my making my daughters day one she will never forget ❤️

Booked for lunch and had the seabass dish which was very tasty. However, the ribeye steak was chewy and undercooked for the preference chosen - we were compensated with a free coffee/tea by the plesant manager. Nice atmosphere in the dining room.

We had a lovely time celebrating our anniversary. Becky served us and she was lovely and attentive. Food was beautiful would highly recommend

Great Sunday roast. This is the meat trio. Perfect sitting outside. Was driving so unfortunately couldn't sample the beers. Can't wait to get back.

I should imagine that it would be fab for a bite to eat. The table set up is lovely. I was just there for a beer or two 🍻 yesterday & must say that the outside seating area is fabulous. But the view out ways everything. Just stunning. Value for money was better than I expected. Recommend for anyone to try. I came back last Sunday to take out my Mum and Dad for Sunday lunch. The meal was lovely as was pudding. The service was also excellent. Definitely be back.

Food was excellent. Chunky chips were probably the best I have ever had. Steak was cooked perfectly. Will definitely be back.

We have always enjoyed visiting and the food has been good. This visit the food was average and over priced. Slow service. The staff however were friendly but slow.

Cosy little country pub / restaurant. Food is always good ,they do always run out of things on menu though . Staff always very helpful and friendly, and puddings are to die for .

Quiet disappointed after travelling fm the other side of Birmingham to try out this restaurant. Firstly we ordered a bottle of wine which we would have expected the waitress to pour for us but only to be placed there with a tissue which was soak in the ice bucket. The food was ok but the prawns that was ment to be in garlic had non as it tasted like it was just boiled and put on the steak. Then when it came to the bill we had paid and left it the table as no one came to check as they were busy talking to eachother behind the bar. Only to be flagged down as we were setting off in the car to ask if we had paid😔.. quiet embarrassing to be honest. If you had checked the table or us then you would have known it was there in the first place .. we wont be returning

Lovely food, friendly staff, the roast was fresh and portions plenty.

Visited for lunch today with my husband and brother. The place was very busy but we were always given attention by the serving staff. Our server in particular was very smiley and chatty without being imposing, which was nice. The food was delicious and generously portioned. Good value for money in a tastefully decorated restaurant with a beautiful surrounding backdrop of countryside. Will go back. 🤗

Very nice place indoors and out. Just called for a couple of beers.

We were very disappointed at the lack of items available from the menu. I ordered the king prawn skewers. However when they arrived I could not eat then as they had not been "cleaned" correctly. We ordered 3 mini desserts which took quite a while. Two arrived and then after another 10 minutes we had to ask where the other dessert. Staff were pleasant and tried their best. We were reimbursed for one dessert as an act of good will for the prawns. Overall a very disappointing experience. Sadly, after all the years of going tonthe swallows nest and after a third consecutive disappointing experience we won't be visiting again.

Had the set lunch time menu, 2 courses for £19.50. Good sized portions, tasty and great value. Lovely outdoor seating area with a lovely view of the countryside.

My second visit to the swallows nest. Pub and service are good but not the signature burger. Main burger meat was tough and slightly burnt. Supplied sundries ok but wouldn't recommend it if this is the normal standard.

Came on a Saturday lunch time, plenty of room as we could choose outside or inside. They've got a good range of gins and plenty of choice on the optics. I had a passion fruit gin with regular tonic which was lovely. To eat I had the grains and greens salad with king prawns and a side of halloumi fries. I was amazed when the prawns came out, they looked like something you'd be served on holiday! The meal was really tasty. We've been here a few times, it's always been a good pub to visit, it's clean, the staff are very friendly and there's plenty of parking. Highly recommended.

Ben and all the folk at Swallows Nest were brilliant. My wife has various medical problems and needs assistance. Everyone was super helpful, friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. It's becoming our Go To place. More power to them all. Check it out, you'll love it.

Great place to have a spot of lunch. Good range of beers and spirits. Friendly staff clean and prompt service. Dogs welcome. Car park is standard but can get busy. Highly recommended

I’ve been here many times and enjoyed it. This time the service wasn’t great at all, we had to keep trying to get people attention to be served a drink as no one checked back. Also it took ages to get the bill they left it there and didn’t take payment for ages. Shame we were willing to spend more money. Not sure if it was a one off but staff were just standing around talking and up the bar.

Obviously the restaurant was not fully prepared for people with discount vouchers as a large number of items were not available on the menus and even after ordering we were told items woul have to be exchanged. Meals were relatively small and one of the four ordered was cold in places.

Good food nice polite staff but lacked in atmosphere because there weren't many customers but it did mean that we got served quickly.

Was booked as a party for 8 , we called numerous times in the day to say we had 2 extra people but our calls were never answered so they weren’t aware of the 2 extra people we brought along. Because of this they couldn’t fit us inside on our original table, which is fair enough as it was unexpected. However we then went outside where there was a lack of attention and service. The food arrived cold and each dish arrived 10-15 minutes apart. Our server - cam was lovely and very apologetic about the service however the meal was very unsatisfactory for the price and we are still hungry. We won’t be coming back!

Beautiful country pub, I just had a quick pub lunch but will definitely be back again to try the rest of the menu. Charlotte and the team were fab.

Terrific lunch at one of our favourite establishments. Drinks as usual were superb as was the choice of food on offer which catered for all tastes. The service standards were excellent. Looking forward to our next visit.

What lovely staff you have so warm and friendly. We enjoyed our meal very much, competitively priced.

Been here several times as one of our locals but today's meal was disappointing. Scallop and tempura prawn starters poor, tiny scallops and greasy prawn cracker thing not nice. Both had roast beef , meat great but the vegitables and yorkies were cold. Inconsistency of food quality now putting us off. Time to try elsewhere. Shame as we use to like it there. Went again on 12 th June half the menu unavailable, ridiculously poor needs someone to investigate what has gone wrong.

Things seem to have improved since my last review. The lamb skewer and salad was quite nice but the purple tortilla was like an after thought and total unnecessary addition to the meal. I had the lamb because there were no chicken or orange skewers left.

Excellent dinner at the Swallows Nest in Romsley for my wife’s 40th birthday. Between 10 adults and children everyone loved their food. And the service was excellent. Steph couldn’t do enough for us. Lovely pub with a great outdoor area. Will definitely be back.

Thr staff were very friendly and helpful. Place was clean. My reason for giving 3 stars was the cost for the quality of food. Nearly £18 for a hard pie , a small dollop of mash handful of green beans and half a carrot that had hardly been cooked. I did think this was very expensive for what it was. We Orderd out your daughter a kids meal. The plate came out boiling hot , she is is only 18 months so could of burnt her. £8.50 for a dry chicken burger with a choice of one side. I think for £8.50 you could offer 2 sides such as chips and peas or beans. I don't think an extra handful of peas or beans is alot to ask for to go with that really

Lovely evening at The Swallows Nest. Service was on point, food came out surprisingly quick considering it was busy. Both the starters and mains were delicious. The service was great, Chelsea looked after us. The atmosphere was great and even had a live singer which was very nice. Will definitely return and will hopefully get to try a dessert.

Excellent meal with good service

I’ve been here seven times for drinks which has always been pleasant, especially as it’s very dog friendly. We came on Sunday for dinner and it’s was very nice, we all really enjoyed. I would really recommend coming here for food and drinks!

Sunday lunch was disappointing had the beef and a vegetarian option. It was fine no complaints just had much better at same price point elsewhere. Service wasn't great we left and plates were still on table although we were eating in the bar. If passing would use again but wouldn't go out of our way.

I thought the interior/decor/ambience was nice. Service was good and didn’t have to wait too long. Staff very good and friendly. I thought the food could be better quality. Disappointed in the Sunday roast I had. Roast potatoes very poor quality, no taste. Loads of carrots, far too many. Would have preferred smaller amounts and more variety instead of a plate full of the same! Also, not value for money, I thought it was overpriced!

We ate here on a Saturday day time in the outside gardens, ordered lamb and chicken skewers, steak and beef brisket and all came well presented and tasted really nice. Quick service and generally good from start to finish. Definitely be back.

Welcomed by a friendly guy who made us feel so welcome especially the children! Service very quick, food (lamb and chicken skewers) were cooked to perfection. Views on a warm day to the rear are stunning. Thank you for a lovely evening 😀

The quality of the food was atrocious. Portions of meat on the mixed grill were tiny and shrivelled and sausages were luke warm at best. A disco karaoke was also starting while people were trying to talk and eat.

We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. Chelsea was our waitress, she was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. the ordering system worked very well, at the food was beautifully cooked, and delicious. Billing arrangements were fine. I have no hesitation in recommending the Swallow's Nest, and we certainly look forward to our next visit.

The only negative, was a bit of a wait to be seated, for our booked table. The menu is varied, and I really enjoyed my pizza. The choice of drinks is good , it's nice to see a varied choice of soft drinks too. I think the desserts are slightly over priced but they were nice. Good table service too.

We visited with a dog and a toddler and we were very warmly welcomed. The service was very good and food was most enjoyable. Hot and timely.

Visited here last week for dinner with a friend. Our server - Chelsea was probably one of the most knowledgeable and friendliest servers I've come across. She took time to explain parts of the menu to us and kept checking if we needed anything. The food was also very good. Would strongly recommend. If you download the app, there are offers and discounts to be had.

Less cheese on starters, we felt like the cheese drowned the flavours of the other ingredients, overcooked prawns on starter and skewer main course. Dessert was nice

However many times you end up smashing a glass or a plant pot, the staff always make feel welcome at the Swallows Nest. The most dog friendly pub I have been to!

Five of us enjoyed a really memorable birthday lunch here on Thursday. We were made to feel really welcome, and enjoyed superb food and five star service from our waiter Ben, who went out of his way to make sure that everything was perfect. A real credit to himself and the establishment. The food was faultless, and served really hot on spotless tableware. We will certainly return. Many Thanks

When arriving for a booking of 12 people we were greeted by 2 separate tables. Initially staff were quite defensive, explaining we would have been informed about this upon booking. I explained this hasn't happened as I booked online. They told me it was impossible to book for such a large party until they checked the system and I showed them you could indeed so this online by going to the website abd nowhere does it state table arrangements. As tables couldn't be moved we had no other choice to use 2 tables. If I had known this I would have booked else where due to it being a social evening and spending well over £300. Despite this, food quality was amazing. The fillet steak was cooked to perfection 👌 There was a couple of mistakes with orders but these were quickly corrected and is expected with such a large party. Serving staff were polite and we still had a good evening. Everywhere was clean and tidy and the lighting and decor was beautiful.

Came here with family to celebrate my 70th birthday tomorrow. Food was fabulous,can't comment on value as I didn't pay for anything. One thing I would like to say is that service was wonderful,the lady who looked after us(in the conservatory)was so lovely.

Food excellent, staff helpful and informative and polite, allowed changes to the meal with no problems. Now come regularly. Only complaint is meals to big for me, but never mind boyfriend always helps out!

It was lovely, the food was amazing, the service was top class. We asked to be moved and this was done with no issue. Chloe, who looked after us, is a real asset. The first person I've seen take a photo of our phone, rather than take the phone away. A much better way of handling a gift code. Please pass on our gratitude and keep up the great work.

New sticky platter much worse no sticky chicken just dried chicken pieces with Cajun spices tipped on nothing sticky as it used to be no flatbread just not appealing at all
