The Swallows Nest in Bromsgrove

I came here this evening to dine with two other friends. We ordered our drinks and at 08:10pm I went up to the bar to order our food, the person behind the bar told me the kitchen was now closed; even though other diners were having food bought to them and the table next to us had ordered a couple of minutes prior. At no point when purchasing our drinks did a staff member alert us that the kitchen was closing, we’ve ordered later than this at your pub in the past. What an utter waste of an evening, let people know in future as we would have dined elsewhere!

Don't know if they were short staffed but our groups meals arrived haphazardly had Togo find our own cutlery. I had the pork belly and found it dry only saved by a good gravy. Veg was good but included 4 roast parsnips and 1 carrot.

Really nice and friendly dogs welcome too

Group of 18 ,all got our food served within10 minutes, food great staff great ,ok slightly pricey but was worth it🏆

We visited here tonight and had an amazing meal!! We preferred the food and atmosphere to the higher chain of Mitchell and Butlers. All the food was outstanding. My husband had fishcake to start, for main he had the lamb rump with triple cooked chips and pineapple salsa and the lamb was melt in your mouth! Absolutely beautiful! I had the duck and hoisin pizza which was amazing and not stodgy at all. For desserts we had a tiramisu and a brownie and they were beautiful. The waiting staff were so so friendly and the manager Ben was really welcoming. We will 100% be returning ! Dog friendly in the bar area too! Although on this occasion we didn't take our Labrador and dined in the restaurant. Thank you Ben and team at The Swallows Nest!

Location: From outside (or from the conservatory) there are great views of rolling fields and parts of Birmingham - excellent. Ambience: A very cosy pub, beautifully decorated with plenty of very comfortable and cosy seating areas. Service: Excellent staff. Food: Very good menu but...it's not cheap for what is, after all, a pub. On the other hand, if you're treating yourself and you don't mind paying that little extra for all of the above...well worth a visit.

A friend and I met here for lunch on Thursday May 8th. It was such a lovely experience in every way. The location was in a lovely village and the inside of the property was so nice. The staff were lovely and the food was so good. The toilets were also very clean, which is important to me! Absolutely wonderful experience and I would recommend a visit to anybody. 👍👍👌

We booked a table at the last minute on 05 May whilst travelling home The restaurant was not busy when we arrived Orders taken quickly, starters out very quickly and very nice Mains arrived in equally quick time Slow cooked belly pork for me Nom nom nom My wife had the Beef bourguignon, I didn't get to try it but she said it was lovely Overall, excellent food, quickly brought out, excellent service Thank you

Good quality food In a nice relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating but guess it gets busy weekends.

Was lucky to get a table last minute Easter Sunday, The Belly Pork didn't disappoint, The Service was great as always Cam ( wearing bandana) was attentive as he usually is, such a lovely genuine person, nothing is ever too much trouble. Will be returning very soon.

We were served by Steph and she was such a happy, bubbly waitress who made mine and my friend’s lunchtime get together enjoyable. Steph was easy to talk to, very accommodating and always had a smile on her face. Food was delicious and served fast along with drinks, will be back again

Quite nice inside. Excellent beer garden with views over the black country from Romsley Hill. Friendly staff, good selection of beers.

My husband and I visited the place to celebrate an special occasion on the 8.4.25 We were so pleased with the whole experience, The fillet steak knocked Miller and Carters food out of the park! Cooked to perfection "Topped with a chefs kiss" The starer was outstanding, and the dessert was equally delicious. We will definitely go back, and recommend to all our family and friends. Lovely last minute lunch where we were squeezed in last minute without booking. Despite it being a busy Sunday, we were accommodated and greeted by a lovely friendly and helpful man - assuming the Manager. All staff we had contact with were friendly, helpful and we felt very welcome there. Our meals arrived very promptly and our request to have two sides as a main for my child was accommodated with no problem at all. It's been a while since I last visited but it won't be the last. The only comment I would make is that the toilets were not as clean as they could have been but that may have been between checks/cleans during the day.

Lovely little pub/restaurant. It's cosy inside and has a lovely outdoor area with great views. The staff are lovely, polite and helpful and the food is amazing. It's definitely a place I'd return to regularly.

My favourite place, the food is always lovely my favourite is the Sunday lunch and puddings. The staff work hard, pleasant and always will accommodate your needs. The place is so clean, lovely views in the distance. I'd always book in advance as can get busy, but we have just turned up once and still got a table for two.

Lovely festive meal in a beautiful setting

Arrived for a 18:30 Mother's day booking a table for 11 we were shoehorned into a room only suitable for around 9. Starters required were off that we wanted. Told we still had to select from a set 2 or 3 course menu despite most items being off. Then told that if ordering one course there's also a £7.00 supplement! Even though it's there fault the first course was off! Shocking performance from management and kitchen. Only redeeming feature was waitress service, she was embarrassed and apologetic. Never coming back, never recommending to anyone. Three Moms all very disappointed ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️

The pub is lovely and welcoming. Staff are very efficient and friendly. Food is cooked well and beautifully presented Starter - calamari, main - slow cooked belly pork with trimmings. Advise to book as its a popular pub.

Food delicious can not fault it. Service bit slow we had to get up a couple of times to ask for drinks then waited a while for them. Shelley who bought our bill over was lovely made us all laugh and interacted really well with one of our party who has Tourette’s . We will be returning.

We have visited this pub before and always enjoyed the food, so we chose it to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing this time. The steak was overcooked and dry, and the burgers that the rest of the family ordered were also lacking in moisture. We raised our concerns, but I decided not to request another steak to avoid further disappointment. The service was fine, but there are clear issues in the kitchen. Our meals arrived at different times—food for two of us came out first, with the rest arriving about 10 minutes later. It would be beneficial for management to address the food quality, as it felt like our meals had been sitting out for too long. This seems to be either a kitchen issue or a capacity problem, as they clearly are inable to handle the number of diners. Sadly, I won’t be returning for food here again.

A cracking experience. A party of 6 adults plus a highchair called in for Sunday lunch and everything was spot on. Great food with no complaints from anyone. I had the slow roasted pork belly as my main and it was truly delicious. Great service too. Highly recommended.

Went in for a Sunday lunch. There was no one to meet and greet to show you to a table. There was plenty of staff however I was ignored as I stood there for 5 minutes. And there was two members of staff one whom looked like a manager right in front of me. I walked out and went down the road to The Sun. The staff were very welcoming and friendly.

Lovely place and great staff but the food not great for a premium price,had the steak burger,the burger was nice but the fries were poor some were overcooked and the beer battered onion rings seemed like they were straight out of a packet for the price not good quality get better from there ember inn pubs which are cheaper won't be going back shame

Came here for Sunday roast with the family, upon arrival we waited at the bar and grabbed a drink before being seated. Staff were working very hard on a busy Sunday and stayed professional which was amazing to see. Our waiter Steph was very caring and considerate to the wait time and was all round amazing and polite, definitely coming again very family and dog friendly and is a very beautiful venue to come after a long week at work, thank you

Country pub with excellent interior. We were seated in the conservatory room at the rear. Lovely light airy room with excellent views. I ordered the halloumi skewer with feta salad. This was tasty fresh and very enjoyable. Service was good very friendly helpful staff.. Would definitely visit again. Thank you swallows nest.

Lovely pub with nice food and our server Sarah was really good. The pizzas are really nice and so are the Sunday roasts. Plenty of parking and the views from the outside area is amazing.

We were a group of seven ladies who enjoyed a lovely lunch in the private area of the Swallows Nest today. The food was very delicious & the staff were lovely. Our waitress (Steph?) was very helpful & accommodating & all the food was served served efficiently. It was the perfect venue to meet up & we hope to visit again soon.

Came here with colleagues for a meal after an important meeting. We were served by Steph who was friendly, accommodating and her service was brilliant! Food and venue was 10/10, would highly recommend to anybody!

Two of us visited on a very busy Sunday & had THE best Sunday lunch ever! Portion sizes were extremely generous with a giant Yorkshire pudding, trio of meat, 4 different vegetables & half a dozen roast potatoes! Staff were all friendly & attentive, especially Chelsea who looked after us very well. Will definitely be back.

Had a very lovely lunch here yesterday, the skewers and salad were delicious. Our server, Steph, was really friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Really pleasant experience.

Second visit to the pub and as disappointed as the first by the food quality. We went there for a family birthday and will not be returning! Burgers were tasteless and overcooked. Mash on pork belly not warm. Beef with lumps of fat in. Really a shame as the location and ambience nice. The prices charged here are steep anyway for a pub meal are not justifiable by the food quality. They really need a good chef.and they should be able to afford one with the prices charged!

Lovely food and well presented one meal not as hot as expected. Chicken skewer was excellent. Glass filled with ice for a coke was off putting for a January evening and glass selection for a bottled cider was really unsuitable. Otherwise nice evening and would go again

The "burger sauce" was the worst yellow goop that has ever entered my mouth. Chicken burger overcooked twice. Neck oil beer was off. For £20 a main we expect a lot better than burnt yet raw. Starters were pretty decent but overall a big let down in the food quality. Having paying customerS waiting cause the boss needs their coffee in their massive sports direct cup.

After recent events this was Our first meal out in a long time which was an enjoyable evening meal out food was good service was good looking forward to a revisit soon

We've been here a few times now and I've really enjoyed the atmosphere, feel and quality of the place. Recently we went for a pre-Valentines meal. We were served by Stephanie who was welcoming, polite, friendly and gave us a great service. Even when she accidentally dropped a glass behind me she was fine, joking with us and straight into making the area safe. The House Burger is something I highly recommend. The toppings and quality of the beef is ace. One of my favourite burgers of recent years, and even made my wife order it when she is usually fixed on the Fish and Chips. Long may the great experiences continue.

So we had a fabulous meal tonight at the Swolllows Nest. Craig was amazing trying to meet our needs with tinescales. Also staff were so pleasent and efficient.

50% off vouchers on January when you register. Food was nice- good range to choose from with decent sized portions. Perhaps a little over-priced but with the voucher well worth it.

Having paid many visits to the Swallows Nest over the years, this pub never disappoints. Every time we visit the service and food is excellent. In the summer its location and views make it a perfect spot to schedule a lunch stop when exploring the local area. In the winter it’s a homely retreat with its open fires and cosy atmosphere. Definitely one of my favourite local pubs. Cheers 🍻

Overall a nice experience the service was 1st class, the staff made an effort to welcome us and attend to our every need. The food was very tasty with a nice menu and vegan/vegetarian options which was appreciated. I felt the atmosphere was a little bit older and I'm not sure about having dogs aloud in a good serving place but it didn't take away from the venue.

Had a January offer of 50% off main meals.went for lunch and all was excellent. I would definitely recommend

Lovely warm welcoming cosy pub serving good food

Lovely meal, comfortable, warm & welcoming atmosphere. Our server Steph was very friendly, polite & informative.

Party of 10 Seating area was wedged into an alcove which clearly wasn't big enough Starters did not come out together One starter was recorded as a main and once sorted came after all other starters were finished The starters were good once arrived One main was incorrect- ordered sirloin steak (even asked about how they liked it cooked at point of order, rare medium or well done) yet what came out was sirloin of beef Sunday lunch. Mains did not cone out together. No sauces offered until half way through meal. Yorkshire puddings shattered when cut into (clearly been in a warmer for an extended time) Roast potatoes were terrible (clearly been in a warmer for an extended time) Not enough gravy and due to where seated couldn't get the attention of any staff to request more Server wanted to clear table before all had finished eating Bill came out wrong Split bill requested which took an age to sort Server couldn't provide a pdq receipt so had to retrieve receipts from the till between each split of the bill. Burgers, fish and chicken skewer all very good. Sunday lunch not good at all except the meat which was excellent.

Regularly use this pub for lunches and evening meals with friends and booked the last 3 years New Years Eves. Food and Service, as always was wonderful but the entertainment last night (New Year'sEve) was terrible. Every song sounded exactly the same, just screeching, the guitar was so loud the girl had to screech just to be heard above it. Conversation stopped on most tables around us as you couldn't hear yourself think let alone talk. Not sure if the management put this act on just to clear the pub and finish early. People left in their droves within an hour of her starting her session, 2 tables around us were discussing where they could go at such a late time and on a new years eve so they could enjoy their evening. The whole thing was such a shame, she was not suitable for the venue or the occasion, the only respite people got was when she took a break. Had we not had a few taxis booked at gone midnight which were prepaid, we would have left about 10 pm ourselves. I don't think we will bother again on a new years eve after this, it spoilt ours and many of your guests evening. By 1150pm on the evening and on a new years eve you had the singers 3 friends and just us left in the pub, surely you could see how people felt, the previous new year had been terrific, perhaps you'll learn ?

Had lunch with a few friends and we all loved the food and enjoyed ourselves. The service was excellent considering how busy it was.

Food was very good. New server was good ..score for Atmosphere is lower because we were in a very small room on our own.

Another fabulous meal at the Swallows Nest this evening. The ‘Sunday lunch’ Roast beef and Trio superbly cooked and enjoyed in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Special thanks also to our server Chelsea…..brilliantly cheerful, polite and helpful every time we visit. 👍👍

My wife and I chose this restaurant for our first meal out on Boxing Day due to my wife's illness over the past 12 months. Due to my wife having a Wheat Allergy, we reviewed the menu on line to ensure the menu was appropriate. As this restaurant is owned by Mitchell & Butler ( where we have eaten in many of their restaurants in the past) there has always been Gluten Free alternatives/Menus. Unfortunately the menu on the website for Boxing Day, differed to the menu on the day. We advised the waitress of the wheat allergy, but unfortunately they do not have a separate GF menu. We were then provided with the Allergen Advisory information, which is of no use, when you know what foods to avoid on the menu. We managed to choose a Starter and Main course from the menu but there was no GF desserts available. Therefore my wife's only option was ice-cream/sorbet. I chose the Baked Vanilla Cheesecake for dessert but when it arrived it was still frozen and inedible however I was offered an alternative dessert. We were aware that this is a dog friendly pub but the table next to us had a cat sitting with them throughout the whole of their meal!! Its a good job someone with a cat allergy was not sitting near them or spotted by one of the dogs!!

Visited for lunch with a friend, I had lunch here two weeks previously with my husband and friends; on both occasions the food was good and the service prompt. Would recommend despite a staff member telling a local cat who had been sheltering in the entrance that "he was banned". The hostelry is however dog friendly apparently.
