A cute pub in an idyllic setting with friendly staff but the roast was extremely disappointing. We had the pie and all the trimmings which were clearly Aunt Bessie & frozen veg/pre cut and heated again. We didn't stay for pudding and won't return to eat. This is not home cooked food.

Always been a good pub but back for the first time in a few years and love the new spruced up look. Unrivalled location near the canal with great beer garden views. Come here for one and you’ll stay for hours. Pleasant staff, reasonably priced pints 5/5 didn’t eat but menu looks good!

Had a fantastic vegetarian Sunday lunch at this lovely pub last weekend. Not our first visit and we are never disappointed. Very friendly atmosphere, great service with a smile and delicious home-cooked food. Very generous portions. Great choice of desserts too. We had delicious apple and blackcurrant crumble. Also a variety of options for non-vegetarians. We will definitely be returning. Thank you to the chef and all the staff at the Crown.

Arrived mid afternoon on a bank holiday for a meal. My fish and chips was ok but my partners ham, egg and chips was very disappointing. Also told there was no bread left for bread and butter sides and all sandwiches were off. The ham was obviously cheap supermarket breaded ham and the eggs were burnt. Maybe it was a bad day in the kitchen but our experience wasn’t pleasant.

Only been to The Crown a couple of times and each time was a great experience. Both occasions had food which was freshly cooked and delicious. Nice to have a small menu knowing it’s all cooked fresh unlike other places. All the staff very friendly, pleasant and polite and it’s a great pub to visit. Reasonable selection of beer to choose from, nice interior and great location on the canal. 10/10

The meal was so bad the half chicken advertised wouldn't match a quarter of chicken size, gave it another go just the same but also burnt, there is hardly any drinks available, customers are limited to what they drink, no lagers, ales, ciders. No snacks of any sort. The bar staff are lovely and try their best while the so called 'manager' sits on his backside drinking with his girlfriend leaving the girls to change barrels, sort out any issues both physical and verbal, they have their family as escorts as they are left to lock up on their own very poor management really can not believe how he has let this beautiful inn go down the pan and the brewery not doing anything about it. Advertises on the canel path for the people on barges food every day lucky if you get food 3 times a week

The staff were lovely and the pub is gorgeous.... But .. We ordered steak sandwiches and oh dear they weren't great. Really quite dry - the bread and the steak. Minimal garnish, nice chunky chips though. Asked for some mayo and got a teeny portion in a little dish .. really needed butter on the bread at least. They are dog friendly inside and out, and there is a nice canal walk to be had from the car park.

Stopped after popping in to see some friends nearby and was met be a very nice pub on the canal's edge. The staff and locals were all very friendly and its a wonderful place to enjoy a couple of beers before returning to Birmingham. There is substantial outdoor seating in the back, out the front and across the road (mind the sheep!). The Guinness was excellent as was the Lonadlord.

Very disappointed! Went in and stood at the bar hoping to get a couple of drinks. Someone was making coffee another was taking food out. No problem. I'll wait a bit. So I waited and watched without being acknowledged in any way by way of eye contact or words to say be with you shortly. Girl came back from taking food out and walked past me, again no acknowledgement and proceeds to help the other person making coffee. A 3rd girl walks up the bar and begins watching her colleagues making coffee whilst conversing with them instead of acknowledging anyone was waiting. Eye contact was almost aggressively avoided by all of them. This all took around 3 minutes. Nobody else at the bar. Totally ignored me. I guess they either only like a certain type or just have no clue about customer service. The Barnt Green Inn was more than happy to look after me. Worked out for the best in the end.

As a regular visitor to the canals and narrow boating we are no strangers to canal side pubs, we have visited the area before but never ventured near The Crown. Canal side pubs are much the same, some have waterside gardens, some have children’s outside play areas this has neither but do welcome dogs. Generally a boater is a captive market and in rural areas without a car you are a captive market and many cash in on this fact The Crown is just another not particularly bad but neither does it stand out from the crowd. The local “click” have their corners, and the drinks priced the same as the rest, to recover lock down losses as soon as possible. So in a nutshell not bad but certainly not memorable.

My husband and I had lunch here, very pleasant, greating by the barman. The food was nice enough, if not a little, on the small size. Unfortunately the waitress decided as we were eating it would be a good time to rearrange the tables which were noisy and distracting. Then we decided we would like dessert the waitress was then distracted again by the arrival of her friends because of this I had to call the barman to take our order. I was pleased to see a Sunday menu with a vegan roast on. If a dish on the menu has a VE next to it you'd like to think that dish was going to be vegan. HOWEVER it wasn't a full roast due to items on the dinner not being vegan because I had to ask! I asked the waitress if the Yorkshire puddings and gravy were vegan. I also ordered the Soup of the day with a VE next to it which i was told was tomato soup. When the waitress came back from the kitchen I was told the soup had milk in it and the chefs didn't know if the Yorkshire puddings had egg in or not!!! HOW could you not know, unless the food wasn't fresh which to me screams that it wasn't homemade. I also had no 'vegan pigs in blankets' on my plate. So payed £14 for dish with half the items missing. Don't put a VE next to a dish on the menu if it isn't VEGAN! Some people have allergies for dairy! I couldn't have another option to the roast as the other menu available wasn't being served on a Sunday. Garbage food. The waitress however was really lovely.
