Really helpful and friendly staff. Visited for a family meal to celebrate a birthday. With several dogs (one very nervous) and a wheelchair user we find it difficult to go out! Staff accommodated us considerately, even moving us from our initial table when they could see that we would be better seated elsewhere. Decent food. Issue with one meal - very quickly replaced. Will definitely return for a more relaxed meal soon!

We visted on 1st Feb, struggled to see a free table as multiple tables were in use for bigger parties. The Girls managed to squeeze us in and explained their was a wait on food. Bar staff and waiting staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble considering they were rushed off their feet. Definitely need more staff on days like Saturday 3 isn't enough.

This is a better than average, local cheap as chips pub chain type establishment so as long as you go in with that expectation you will be happy. The staff are always happy, helpful and friendly and offer brilliant service. We had particularly great service from Stacey & Alisha this evening Theres a good range of food on the menu and its all pretty tasty with decent portions. Its your basic pib food type offerings but theres plenty to choose from and a few more interesting bits too. Food comes out relatively quickly and all was piping hot and well cooked. If you have a pooch at home they are a dog friendly place with a doggy station for blankets, water bowls and treats however for those who dont want to eat around a 4 legged friend the dog friendly seating area is sufficiently seperate from the main restaurant area. Tables and seats are comfy and well spaced out so it doesnt feel cramped Overall its a great place to have on our doorstep and a favourite of ours when we want to pop out for a quick and easy dinner that we know we will enjoy but won't cost the earth Can reccommend: The ultimate burgers, mac and cheese bowls, chicken kebab and the thai veg curry. All some of our favs.

We were a party of 9 (6 adults, 1 teenager and 2 toddlers), it was a family get together meal as 3 members of the party were traveling home the next day after spending 2 weeks celebrating Christmas and New year. The three ladies that we had that took our order and served us with our food and beverages were absolutely amazing, there is a couple of picky eaters in the group. The ladies were pleasant and friendly and extremely helpful. The only downfall we had was that the chef didn't read the food order ticket correctly and made mistakes on 2 meals, we know the waitress had taken the order correctly as she read it back to us before we paid. The waitress even noticed the order was wrong when she brought it out and brought the food to us to show us and said she will get the meal cooked from fresh. Overall we had a lovely time together and were looked after well by the waitress's.

Living in Birmingham for many years I’ve been meaning to go to this place, essentially at the gateway to the Lickey Hills Country Park, for a long time but what with one thing and another had never got around to it. But last Monday, the day before New Year’s Eve, we’d been to the park in the morning, felt like lunch out rather than at home, and this seemed like the ideal opportunity. We arrived at 1pm, and considering it was lunchtime it was quite quiet — good, we thought, since that should have meant a minimal wait. My order was for a medium sirloin steak, with the rest of us ordering hunter’s chicken and fish bites and chips. Time passed. And passed. The pub started filling up, and time continued to pass. 45 minutes after placing our order I decided to go to the bar to see where our food was — not least because we’d almost finished our drinks. The barmaid went into the kitchen, and then came out with our food and took it to the table; after placing it down I asked if we might have some complementary drinks to eat with our food, since we’d just about (after getting through them as slowly as we could) finished the ones we’d bought on ordering. She said she’d have to speak to her manager, and went; whilst she said she was sorry for the wait, I didn’t get much of a sense of genuine regret from it, more that she knows that what you’re supposed to do in that situation is say sorry for the wait. It was then when I started eating my food that I gained an insight into perhaps why it had taken 45 minutes to cook, for my ‘medium’ steak was very much beyond medium, it was indeed far beyond what the steak levels of doneness meme has as ‘order the chicken you steak-hating b-yard’. It’s also a good job there was a proper steak knife because it was so tough to cut — and to chew — that I might have needed a power saw to cut it. I believe there were some mushrooms, though the brown spheres on the plate which I suspected of being mushrooms could have been more or less anything. And the chips had something of a background taste and odour of barbecue sauce about them, which was especially annoying because I really don’t like barbecue sauce. Fortunately for my co-diners their food they declared as being yeahwa’evs average. All the while I was getting my jaw exercise eating the steak I was thinking another glass of wine might have made it easier to go down; eventually after 20 minutes just as we were finishing our food those free drinks to make up for the 45 minute wait I asked for eventually arrived, which on the one hand, at least they eventually arrived, but on the other hand it did mean we ended up staying longer still than expected to drink them. When I was standing at the bar asking where my food was, the two people stood behind me said ‘oh dear, that doesn’t bode well, we’ve only just arrived’; as we were leaving I went over to their table and said ‘pro tip, if you’re going to ask for a free drink ask for it at half an hour if you want to stand a chance of it coming whilst you’ve still got food to eat’. ‘Oh dear, it looks like we’ve been waiting 35 minutes’, they replied, just as their food arrived.

I’m not going to speculate on the extent to which the people running and staffing this pub care about the experience they give customers for whom it will be the first, and perhaps only, pub they see on arriving at and leaving the park. I’m also not going to speculate on the staffing level, since there were three people serving at the bar on that quiet lunchtime. I expect food in a restaurant to take a little while to come, and indeed in a gastropub. I think the only other times my food has taken over 45 minutes to come has been the occasions I’ve eaten in Persian restaurants, because the nature of the food is that it takes a long time to cook. Whilst I’d expect a little bit of a wait at lunchtime, as I said, it really was not busy when we arrived, though it was getting busy as we left. It certainly does not take 45 minutes to cook a medium steak and chips, and frankly I suspect the hunter’s chicken was probably to a high degree pre-part-cooked rather than having been butchered there in the kitchen on order. Whilst I’m not going to deny I’m the sort of person who’ll never miss an opportunity to try to get a free drink, this is not free for the sake of trying to blag a freebie — any reasonable person expects to pace themself with their drink when they go to a pub for lunch if they’re not expecting to stay for a sesh, half the drink whilst waiting, half with their food. I think the request for a free drink both in recompense for the wait and to have a drink to eat with the food is a perfectly reasonable one, not a Karen move, so it was adding insult to injury that it didn’t come until we’d nearly finished our food. In short, don’t go there to eat; if you’ve spent a morning or afternoon in the park and want to eat out straight afterwards, get Google Maps out and find a nearby alternative.

An excellent meal from the festive menu. Lovely freshly made tomato soup, followed by a turkey dinner with all the trimmings and a nice dessert. From the off, we were made very welcome (we had already reserved our table in October). Our host was Sophie and she greeted us with a smile taking us directly to our table. Every where was clean and well presented and the waiting staff couldn't do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble. Although I chose the tomato soup as my starter my wife had the pate, which was equally just as tasty and enjoyable. The main had a variety of vegetables, succulent turkey (not over cooked & dry) and the biggest Yorkshire pud (lovely & crispy). I had ice cream for dessert but the missus had christmas pudding with custard, which she couldn't fault. Since this pub has changed hands it has improved a lot. The service, the food the decor. If you are in the area and you fancy some nice pub grub and a pint give the Oak Tree a go. Thank you again Sophie for being a great host.

We contacted the team to see if we could book dining for a large party of 30 adults and children. Craig, the Manager was very accommodating and provided us with the conservatory area. We were asked to provide menu choices in advance which was easy and even when a few ppl dropped out last minute it was no problem for the team. The pub is lovely, clean and well decorated. All staff are friendly and helpful and the food is incredible. We ordered lots from the Sunday Lunch Menu, along with childrens meals and I enjoyed the lasagne. All freshly cooked and generous portions- not one complaint! The Manager Craig communicated well throughout and the kids absolutely loved him and his challenge of eating all the peas they could! Despite us being a large party and making the place busy they remained calm and professional and made our celebration lovely. Thanks Craig and the team, we will def return if you will have us!

One of my favourite local pubs, mainly for theses facts: 1. It has absolutely idyllic views over the canal and countryside in the summer (from the beer garden across the road). 2. It has a separate quieter area (my preference) at the front of the building where you can sit for drinks or food that feels cosy in winter. 3. Service at the bar is always prompt and friendly. Haven’t eaten there in a good while so won’t comment on the food - but I’m sure I’ll sample it again soon enough (hopefully there’s more than the usual one or two choices for vegetarians that seems to be the norm for British Pubs🤞🏻).
