Gone downhill somewhat. Bacon hard and dry when we mentioned to the staff we were assured the bacon was cooked this morning! There lies the problem it was reheated. Woman was very defensive

We visit Sundial Cafe every week for breakfast, and it never disappoints. The food is always fresh and delicious, and we often stop by for coffee and cake as well. Their carrot cake is simply the best we’ve had, and the scones are equally fantastic. What really stands out is the warm and welcoming service. The staff are always friendly and make us feel right at home. Highly recommend for anyone in the area! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Standoffish and unwilling to step up to codes of conduct in exemplary customer service, adopting a surly and dismissive attitude and giving off an unfriendly vibe right from the outset. The younger server in particular seemed like she was going out of her way to do us a favour. If someone asks for a specific bakery slice, 99% of staff would oblige rather than grudgingly say 'I'll have to dismantle the tower" to get to it. And you just DON'T roll your eyes as you are serving a customer, absolutely unforgiveable and despicable in open sight of the customer. I'll be taking this up further as this particular member of staff is patronising and a blatant liar. The responses to others demonstrate this attitude, 'damaging to small businesses to post negative reviews' and other nonsense. Well, clean up your act then, as you deserve to leach customers and go to the wall if you continue with this behaviour.

As a vegetarian who loves nothing more than to go out for breakfast, I have eaten a lot of scrambled eggs and drunk a lot of coffee in a lot of different places and I can honestly say that the Sundial is at the top of the tree for both. If you are a fellow veggie going later in the day, the coronation chickpea is delicious. I always look forward to my regular visits here and to the warm welcome I know I will receive. Highly recommended.

Sorry to say this but although we enjoyed our food, the cafe, including the toilet needed a jolly good deep clean. There is dust everywhere and the basin in the toilet had embedded grime on it. I sent a private email to them late last year after our visit letting them know of our hygiene and cleanliness observations but clearly no action has been taken. Very disappointed when it is clearly a thriving business.

My mum and I went into the Sundial cafe for lunch today. I had the 'Ham, Swiss cheese and apple' grilled sandwich (without the apple) and she had the 'Mushroom Melt' grilled sandwich. Both came with a side salad, coleslaw and crisps. My mum had actually visited the cafe the day before aswell with my Stepdad and ordered the same thing :) I had a cinnamon latte, then a caramel latte and my mum had a cappuccino then a regular latter. We finished the meal off with her having a blueberry danish pastry and me a chocolate brownie. No complaints at all the food was lovely and the ingredients were obviously fresh and high quality. The coleslaw was homemade and very tasty. My mum thoroughly enjoyed her pastry and the brownie was one of the best I have ever had. It is a lovely, quaint cafe with a nice atmosphere. The spiral staircase is a lovely feature in the upstairs section which is where we were sitting. I was facing the window and could see the sea which was very relaxing. The waitresses were nice and friendly, and everything was served quickly. Will look forward to visiting again!

I went here for breakfast and thought it was an okay place, very over priced in my opinion for what it was. The coffee was lovely but the food was quite boring. The menu I found to be quite limited and instead of set meals, you had to add on items bumping the price even further.

Warm and cosy as stove was on , nice on such a cold day .Ordered two coffees and one freshly made fruit scone with butter and jam , lovely , but quite pricey at £10.50. Main thing for me was that there was no engagement with two staff other than , you okay guys .I admired the design on the coffees and presentation , mentioned it to the girl and nothing . Shame ,as place is nice , and food good though pricey .Sorry but there are other places where the welcome is a bit warmer .

Been here a few times, its set in a picturesque, building which is welcoming. Really like the coffee, service and choice available on the menu. The Cappuccino comes with the signature Sundial chocolate pattern on the top, a very nice touch. I had the fruit scone which was very well presented, fresh and tasted great. Three of us arrived in late afternoon, barely half an hour before closing, but got a warm welcome. Three different drinks and excellent scones appeared smartly, well-presented and served with a smile. The price was very reasonable, and the treacle scones to take away were a real bonus. After walking the Queesnferry crossing we were looking for a bite of lunch. We arrived at the Sun Dial at 3pm to be told that only cake and drinks were available. We were very dissapointed as we were looking at about 20 ciabatta in a bag behind the counter and some salad in bowls in the counter fridge. The staff were very pleasant but more intent on cleaning up and finishing up for the day. The 4 drinks, scones and brownies all very nice, but soup or a ciabatta would have been so much better. After an amazingly well organised and friendly crossing walk showing Scotlland at its best, our hospitality trade let us down. Given the close proximity of Limekilns to the bridge and with the crossing before no open to so many visitors on the Saturday and Sunday, it was an opportunity missed.

We had no idea how they managed to cut it without it falling apart we imagined them using a cheese wire . Novelle cuisine is all well n good and there's market research sats that say people will pay more for less ; well maybe , sometimes , but not when it comes to afternoon coffee n carrot cake .

Loved it and the food was great - with old favorites done to perfection - we enjoyed the daily special and the old favorites with a pint or two

We went here after a walk along the coast. They serve soup, paninis, and lots of cakes/pastries. Was a good menu and tasted really good. Was worth the money and serivce was friendly. The side salad with the panini's was surprisingly good.

Had the Alba panini and cup of the roast pepper soup. Panini was very good and accompanied by a tasty side salad and crisps. Soup was also very good, although I felt it could have been slightly more seasoned but was still tasty. First visit to this lovely little cafe and will definitely be back.

Have visited the Sundial a number of times over a couple of years now and it still remains one of our favourite haunts for breakfast or a light lunch. Went for breakfast this morning with friends who were over for the weekend and as always the coffee's are spot on. Was a little disappointed to see the options for breakfast filled rolls has been reduced to bacon and/or scrambled eggs. Bit strange there's no sausage or fried egg choices anymore. However, the standard of food is still good and the scones/cakes on offer are tremendous. Really great looking venue and one of the coffee's you'll get anywhere!

This place is lovely. Tucked away behind the main street in Limekilns, it's a very cute little cafe with a small but very nice lunch menu and cake selection. They do great soups and paninis, which are different all the time and fairly reasonably priced. They also have an ever changing selection of cakes and sweets - I can highly recommend the carrot cake!

Very atmospheric in a side street location of ancient buildings. The service was excellent and we had a tasty light lunch of home made soup plus a delicious cake. There are only a couple of tables downstairs so if disabled or find difficult in climbing stairs this could be a problem but i am sure the staff would help.

Because I live close by, I don't often indulge myself by going into this lovely wee cafe. Each and every time I do visit, I wonder why I don't do it more often! Scones are to die for (treacle ones are my favourite).

My husband and I had just been on a good walk around Limekilns and Charlestown, and got back to Limekilns at about 2.20pm on a Sunday. With the Ship Inn full, and the Limekilms Bistro finished serving, we popped into the Sundial and were so pleased we did. They were happy to serve us with whatever was left from the deli, including an excellent lentil and bacon soup, and a toasted ham, goats cheese and chilli ciabatta, followed by an utterly delicious treacle scone all washed down with a nice cup of tea. Relaxed atmosphere, prompt and friendly service, and lovely food. Can't ask for more than that.

This is the best coffee shop in St Andrews - but only in terms of the coffee and the food. I love the drinks and the bagels especially are *french kiss* but I would love to be able to come and sit, and enjoy my bagel at a table. The issue is that the already limited seating is taken up by students who have pretty much always finished their drinks. I really think it would be a good idea to have maybe half of the seats reserved for people who just want to come and sit for 10 minutes to have a drink because the shop itself is so nice and clearly very well finished. As a student myself I know there are plenty of study spaces in town so a study free area surely wouldn't meet much resistance? I for one would visit the cafe much more often, instead of just for takeaways. That said, the staff are amazing and the coffee is superb.

My husband and I visited here today and ordered a cup of spicy lentil soup and a sandwich cost £10 each. The food arrived and my cup of soup was only half full and my husband's 3/4 full.I took my soup back and was told you only get one ladle.I said it should be a cupful as stated but was told no.I went back to my seat but was livid as I hate to be ripped off.I asked for the manager and the guy on the till said I will give you more soup which he did.The soup was lovely and the sandwiches also good made with lovely bread. The guy came over to take the plates and said he was sorry he upset me and I said you didn't upset me and I had been annoyed at being done.He apologised and offered me a free lunch.I advised I am only here for the day.The next thing he was back with 2 sweets in a box with forks and napkins to eat later.I thanked him for the cakes. We had them with coffee later on and delicious. I don't know the guys name but you have restored my faith in humanity and the cafe.We will visit again and encourage others to do so also.Thank you for your understanding.

Fabulous find on our way from East Lothian up to Dundee. Lunch was delicious. I had the Light and tasty batter on the Haddock. Great chunky chips and peas. Very friendly staff and customers. Wish this was near our wee golf course in Musselburgh. 😉 Will stop by again if we are in Ladybank for sure. Thanks Kirsty,Phil and Theo.
