The Sun is a stunning quintessential British pub tucked away in the quiet village of Wheatley. The Pub has a warm, cosy and traditional feel throughout, with exposed brick and beams. The garden is expansive and great on a summers day! The manager Dimi and his team are welcoming and friendly.

Great beer/drink selection. Good music, but not too loud to be distracting, lovely beer garden, and although we didn't eat, the food looked and smelled great. Dog friendly too!

I was visiting my parents nearby on the bank holiday and this pub had really loud band playing in garden area it's not a proper venue at all ? It was seriously messing with local neighbours peace and wellbeing for almost 6 hours it's bad and very inconsiderate with so many houses and residents so close by in a quiet environment.

Eaten here a couple of times, it is usually food vans so not a reflection on the quality of the pub itself which is fantastic. One was literally reheated oven Pizza... don't think I need to elaborate 😬 Also had a very expensive and underwhelming roast (veg option literally a slice of roasted cauliflower for the same price as the meat roasts, with an optional side of not great cauliflower cheese at £5) but that was over a year ago now so possibly no longer relevant. Some of the vendors might be excellent though so I will keep trying!

Great selection of beers, cosy atmosphere, lots of locals. Dog friendly and kid friendly in the day and early evening. Food from trucks parked outside. Landlord a really nice guy.

Stopped over on our way home and were blown away by the cosy atmosphere. The cakes and hot chocolate are delectable.

Haven't tried the food but the pub has a wide selection of beers on tap and many alcohol free options. The logfire is very welcoming and the sunset views are some of the best of the region.

The Sun, top end of the village (well lets say the Oxford end), is a nice friendly pub, with a nice garden that does get a good sunset glow; visually busy decor inside (which i like) and relaxed atmosphere a credit to those who work there. Like the other pubs in the village, I fear very much use it or loose it, and be grateful it made it through COVID! Did not get chance to try the food, but will be back soon to do just this....

Great pub for an evening sat outside and with the bonus of pop up food vans outside that you can get food and take into the pub to eat.

Very relaxing place to have a nice drink

My wife and I stumbled across this place on a drive out last Sunday. Lucky for us they was still serving roast lunch at 4pm. I had the roast lamb and my wife had the roast beef both served with fresh veg, crispy roasts and lovely Yorkshire pudding all was delicious. We was pleasantly surprised. They have a good selection of drinks and beers on tap. We sat in the garden and enjoyed the evening live band. We will be returning again soon!

Good choice of beers. Friendly staff. Nice garden. fire place and comfy chairs etc… Pub parking is slightly limited. Food is good however not in-house. Has a business turn up each night serving different cuisines.

It's ok, nice staff, quick service, nice interior but Sunday roast was a bit disappointing. Tiny burnt Yorkshire's also pudding choice was a bit limited. They didn't even have ice cream for kids.

Dimi is always very welcoming and it's very family friendly (used to be a café). Reasonably priced and very cosy.

Our first visit based upon a recommendation, and we will be back. A friendly and convivial atmosphere, attentive service, tasty small portion meals, and cold beer - all with a view in a pleasant garden veranda setting.

Back as a Proper Pub with new owners since Dec '22 - Great choice of drinks, no food served, just drinks, but food vans often parked outside for takeaway.

A great cafe and bar with chocolate box garden with great view over Wheatley, great Sunday roasts and homemade pizza night draught lager cider and bitter and wine selection. One star missing for opening hours on certain days and size of car park.

Lovely family pub, food is always scrumptious and the staff is always welcoming and kind. Children are always welcome. Always happy to go there with my family or friends

Quality over quantity, but I didn't go away hungry. Ok, a bit pricey: £13 for English breakfast & tea. But good quality grub! And a lovely place, clean, friendly, nice toilets.

Cute outdoor space to the rear of the building that is a haven for breakfast on a summer morning. Great selection of tasty food, well prepared by friendly staff. Will visit when in the area.

Nice breakfast good choice meat vegan and a pile of pancakes with date butter that my 7 year old loved. great find 5 mins drive from the Ramada hotel at the services much better than subway or whatever rubbish is there.

Hidden gem of a cafe / bar. Food was excellent the garden in the back is beautiful and has lots of places to sit with chairs to lounge on as well as tables to eat.

What a delightful little place, the cramped location in Wheatley doesn't let on to the space inside and outside this lovely little pub. The food is great, the drinks are cold, the cakes are huge and the service is fab. Highly recommended 🙂

Probably would have been 5 stars earlier in the day. £15ish roast was well presented with plenty of gravy and veg. Meat was wonderful (though pork a touch small). However the roasties, Yorkshire pud and crackling were stale and tough. I suspect that they were cooked for the 12pm sitting and so when we got there at 2 had been sitting for a couple of hours. Sticky toffee pudding was great, if a touch pricy at £6. Service and atmosphere were great.

This is such a beautiful place. In a small little Village it has such a relaxing feel to it. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The service is good and the staff were attentive. The food was very good. It was served nicely. We had a Sunday lunch , there was a Yorkshire pudding, and meat and then you had vegetables and certain side dishes served separately. The portion was just right. The place itself was clean and decorated so beautifully to make it cozy. You could also sit outside. The toilet was quite big and looked very clean. Really enjoyed this place.

Great Cafe and bar. Don't be fooled... Looks like a pin, and you can get drinks here, but the Cafe is great.

Went there for breakfast. Food was very good and presented very nicely. Nice atmosphere inside. Waiters very nice. We had a bit of a problem with some of the other guests that didn't like our dog, despite the fact we booked in advance a dog friendly table. That poisoned the experience unfortunately.

Well presented food. Prices a bit steep we were charged £2.95 for a single slice of toast. I had hot chocolate milk alternatives were offered and charged extra. Advertised as dog friendly that might be the establishment but certainly doesn't apply to some of the customers.

Lovely coffee and cake, friendly service

The welcome was spot on - I was met as I entered and asked where I would like to sit. When I said that I was meeting a friend his name was recognised at once and I was taken to his table. The service was friendly and the atmosphere relaxed: many customer groups included several generations and the general impression was of a place where families gather for a meal and coffee or coke, while at the next table friends meet for a snack and a pint. There was no loud 'music' and no large screens! Parking is restricted, and could at times be difficult. But a short walk back after hunting for a parking place would be well worth it. This enterprise is an imaginative adaptation of a one-time stage-coach inn to today's social habits.

Fabulous hidden gem! We stopped in for brunch on the way home, after a local parkrun in Horspath. The staff are spot on; friendly, attentive and engaging. Great pot of tea, tasty breakfast plates, and a welcoming and pretty outdoor space to enjoy it all in. (Lovely loos, too!)

Nice enough venue but nothing special, friendly staff but the food cost really let the place down. The website offers a 'hearty breakfast' but I wouldn't consider a slice of bread, a sausage, a bit of streaky bacon with a mushroom top (no stalk) and half a tomato to be hearty. The only hearty thing would be the profit from the 9.95 I had to pay for it. Restrictions had ended but I now understand why they were still wearing a mask behind the till.

Delicious breakfast with friendly service.

We stopped here for a morning coffee and pastry on a bicycle ride. They have great tables outside in their garden with some very nice views. They even have a place for bicycles inside a gated area. The pastries were fresh and the coffee excellent. We are looking forward to coming back here.

A great reboot of a beautifully idiosyncratic pub a few mins outside Oxford with good service and impressive cocktails and beers.

Went for an outdoor lunch in mid-December (thanks covid!) and we sat in the super cozy outdoor seating area, where we were given blankets and heaters to keep us warm so it was really lovely. Excellent, friendly service and delicious delicious food. Highly recommend 10/10

We've been visiting The Sun for years and it's changed ownership a few times. Stopped by for some lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Covid safety measures in place and comfortable seating inside and covered outside space with heating. I thoroughly enjoyed a huge bowl of tomato soup with fresh, soft, light muffin and my husband had the Cypriot lamb kebab. Looking forward to another visit soon.

Delicious & charming with a friendly team ! Chicken caesar wrap with bacon was devoured quickly. Wine is fresh and tasty and cappuccino was perfectly strong and foamy. Will definitely be back to enjoy more from all menus! Thanks for a great experience.

Beautiful, clean and welcoming. We were trying to find a coffee while traveling and google took us here. So glad it did, part old English pub crossed with and old English tea room we were quickly tempted to eat. Husband had a breakfast while I had a vegan sweat treat which were both delicious. Large garden to enjoy the sun. Friendly staff. What more can you want
