The Sun Inn in Mendip

Great local pub which has some amazing bands on sometimes.

Not the sun I knew but still welcoming and somewhere still a little bit Frome.

I could see that the locals were enjoying themselves when I visited but it wasn't to my preference. That said I'm not going to mark it down because of that. If you like a loud juke box (Deep Purple, Genesis....etc), pool and singing this is the place for you. The garden was pleasant and well appointed. The range of drinks was good. Bar staff were polite.

We went when the Wise Fools were playing. Loved the band, the atmosphere and the patrons. A good old fashion pub concentrating on customers not trends.

A stark interior, No cask ale available, several ciders from the Thatchers stable.

Apparently under new ownership and they haven’t go off to a good start waited 1.5hrs for food and that was only after asking a few times if we had been forgotten. Thais was a pre booked table as well. And the menu was reduced.

It's a shame they don't let dogs in! a friend of ours went to join us but as they don't let dogs in all 6 of us left & went to 3 Swans, Archangel & The George as they take dogs. The Sun lost out on & we won't be back!

Really friendly pub, both from the staff and regulars. Really great atmosphere.

I lways seem to have a great time here, the bar staff are great, everyone seems happy and when there is a band on, it is probably Fromes best party pub.

Good pool table. Speed cloth and responsive cushions. Halloween was fast approaching so the decorations were out. I couldn't see any ales on draught so I had a lager.

A great night out is always had at The Sun.

Straight out of hot fuzz. Terrible beer, but at the heart of it. People who generally hate everything except cheap cider. Banter is also plentiful

Great Pub but it’s no place for the old, Brenda had a right job getting up that cobbled hill. Needs a funicular or a shuttle bus.

New Garden is fantastic. Amazing place to drink in the heart of frome.

Good selection of ales, largers, ciders and wines and spirits. The staff are friendly and there is a pool table and outside seating.

Great old traditional pub in a great setting and serving a really good selection of ciders. Well worth a visit.

We didn't stop for a drink, but the young woman who saw us sheltering from the rain yesterday helped us book a taxi. That's worth 5 stars.

Standard sort of local but its got great value for money. Its got a proper locals sort of decor to it. Barman was extremely friendly and welcoming. Outside beer garden is the best feature of this pub, the outside beer garden has a television to watch sport on.

Really very nice upmarket county pub. At the gastro end of things. Food nice, but you pay real money for it. They do cheaper small portions which is laudable. Beer selection limited, but 4 cask ales of varied styles.
