Recent buffet lunch provided after the funeral service for Malcolm was excellent. Food superb, atmosphere great and service caring and welcoming on such an occasion. Thank you for making the end of our sad day lovely.

A Great pub with a right good atmosphere ,

The only reason I gave a 4 for service was the long wait for the food, probably because it was Father's day. However as it's a carvery can't comment on other options that may be available during the week. Several different areas you can sit in, so if it's a bit noisy in one area you can easily move to another 😉

Brilliant local pub, has been for a number of years

Met my grandaughter and her friends there, it was very busy. We sat outside as it was a lovely day. It's also dog friendly 😁

As the night went on, in crept a smell worse than a morning round in hospital - our friends blamed the man near us. In his defence i disagreed, as with every breath it was getting worse. Worse than festival toilets on the last night. My husband visited the gents (with caution) but no stink there. The "young" bar men had their mouth and noses covered, as it was too much - then the culprit was found - the disabled loo had sharted its contents all over the loo wall and floor - where theres muck theres money 💰🤑

The landlord , I believe they call him Hebby was so welcoming funny and overall a clown but a good clown :) the banter was flowing aswell as the carling Will return thanks

Found this local by walking cross country from our campsite. Great atmosphere, very friendly. We're told that it had been recently taken over and the food was good. We had the burgers (chicken and the Sun burger) very good, tasty and freshly cooked. As we're the deserts. If we were staying longer, we would definitely go again.

Went in this afternoon and was stunned to see live weasal fighting in the middle of the bar. Asked for a pint of Carling and was told by a regular that this wasn't a soft pub and he gave me a chinese burn. Ended up having a gallon of Old Rosie Cider. Plugged my phone charger into the wall and a member of staff removed it at pace and threw it out of the front door shouting "Energy Crisis" ... Great pub, lovely atmos, can't wait to go back.

Rare trip to The Sun. Always seems awkward to get to the bar with the way the pub is arranged. Couple of casks on which were ok.

Unfortunately they dont do food on a monday night, but it's a good 'old fashioned ' pub.

Went for Sunday lunch & it’s one of the nicest places to eat in York. Beef was so tender & everything came on the plate, without the need to add veg from a separate bowl! Loved the simplicity of how quickly it was served. Two clean plates, from two happy customers!! We will be back!!

Excellent pub with a touch of comfort and old world charm. Beer garden is great.

Stopped in here at a family members recommendation just for a drink and to check it out, ended up staying for a couple hours and enjoying their fantastic roasts after seeing a few come out. Honestly unbelievable value at just shy of £9, or £10 for one slightly larger. They had a larger group in that made their wait times a little longer, but we barely even noticed as we were enjoying just drinking and talking. Really enjoyed our visit, this is definitely going to become our new local as we live only a few minutes around the corner. Proper pub, decent beer, competent staff, tasty food. What more do you need!

My wife and I went to The Sun In on Sunday for lunch as we have fond memories of meeting my mother in law there regularly. Unfortunately, the food took an hour to arrive and, when it did, tasted like microwaved mash potato. Neither of us really enjoyed the food but it was hot and filled a hole. Would we return again? Not so sure when there are other places that do a nicer meal

I like the Sun. It's a nicely presented old time local. They've created a lovely outdoor area out the back. All set for a great summer. But for me there's one problem. They don't keep real ales well . The same beer in other pubs is much better. They need to sort this I've based my opinion on numerous visits over 5 years. There's obviously a demand for good beer in the local area. The success of the crooked tap proves that. It's time to take real ales and craft ales seriously. Great pub. Sort out the beer.

Very atmospheric setting with beautiful and very well decorated and maintained garden beer. I didn't have a meal there only drinks but I'll definitely go back and I strongly recommend it.

Love this pub. We have recently been a number of times after moving back to York. Great to get tucked up by the fire and stay for hours. Owners are great people too, very welcoming.

Everything I look for in an old-skool boozer

We were in the village for the weekend and visited for food, the food was good and prices were great too. No well known drinks like strongbow dark fruits, Carling, fosters ect though. Its a no phone zone and they had bar games which was a nice touch it made it much more entertaining and we had a really good time! They had a real log fire which was very cosy and the bathroom was very nicely decorated

El personal del bar es completamente miserable, ¡totalmente antipático y completamente despectivo si no eres un habitual! No me malinterpretes: si eres una cara conocida, ¡parece que todo está bien! Pero si tu cara no se conoce, eres un paria simple como. . . En consecuencia, obviamente está exento de cualquier tipo de cortesía o cortesía. Llevo más de un año viviendo en Acomb y he frecuentado este pub en varias ocasiones. . . ¡y debo decir que nunca un miembro del personal o un apostador me hicieron sentir bienvenido! El ambiente es que si no eres un habitual, el pub quiere que te sientas tan incómodo y tan desagradable que avanzarás rápidamente, y esto es totalmente exudado tanto por el personal como por los lugareños por igual en cada ocasión. he estado en! ¡Este es un ambiente horrible y hostil lleno de personas malhumoradas que desprecian a cualquiera que no sea un habitual! Nunca me he encontrado con una cara sonriente y un "front-end" profesional por parte del personal del bar. . . De hecho, ¡es alarmante la expresión de asco y asco del personal del bar cuando tiene el inconveniente de tener que servir a un "no regular"! ¡Qué pub tan horrible, una experiencia aborrecible que insto a cualquiera que no haya estado bebiendo allí durante los últimos 5 años más o menos para evitar! ! ! ¡No entres! No se desprenda de efectivo. . . pubs como este merecen salir del negocio. . . ¡y sinceramente espero que este pub tenga un control de la realidad y sucumbya ante los apostadores que votan con los pies!

Llamé a almorzar el domingo con mi esposa, pedimos nuestras bebidas y comidas a la llegada y pagamos en el bar. una hora más tarde, nuestras comidas llegaron, mi esposa comió cerdo y yo comí carne para casi 9 cada una solo para las comidas, obtuvimos carne rebanada barata, una papa asada, un pudín de yorkshire y los guisantes, zanahorias y un trozo pequeño de coliflor. casi ninguna salsa la casera es arrogante y muy grosera, como descubrimos cuando otros clientes se quejaban. No lo usaremos de nuevo.

So, friends and I wanted to try out the new Indian nearby so after 2 drinks elsewhere we called into the sun Inn, big mistake, I was accused by 2 neanderthalic 'locals' of drug dealing "apparently because of how I dressed " And if that wasn't enough I was physically threatened and THEN thrown out in the most bizzare encounter I have ever seen, please avoid like the plague if You are not REGULAR awful experience

A truly wonderful experience. Alan & Judy are a delightful hostess team. May i just add the beer is great but the late visit of David & Anc (french bulldog brothers) really set the seen. Acombs best pub bat non and a lovely evening had by all. One certainly to get involved with. 👏👏🙌🙌👏👏

Decent old style boozer. First door on your left takes you to a quiet room (good for actually being able to talk to people without TV / sport blaring in your ears).

A Gay bar but very welcoming to straight people good prices and fantastic entertainment. With excellent staff.

Great little local pub. Always got a bit of sport on but not a bit of 'lad culture' shouting nonsense. Always get a good pint poured too.
