I am writing this review to remember this place because it has earned a place in my heart! It is located in a beautiful building, the outside garden is really idyllic, with very cute tables and a totally relaxing atmosphere. Thanks to the afternoon sun, I spent two very pleasant hours here. It is very picturesque and really special. If you come here, I think it is a must. If I ever return to these places (and I hope so because, in general, I love them) I will definitely return and I hope also for lunch/dinner, to taste something.

Update! Food is being served again!! Great pub, run by John and Kerry. Unfortunately they no longer do food due to a decision by Mr Smith senior. Very shortsighted in my opinion as their food, especially the fish and chips were excellent. Humphrey you really need to have a rethink! Also children are not allowed in anymore as they don't sell food.

Great pub with great price for drinks but food a bit expensive. It would be better with a bit of background music to give it a bit more atmosphere but I know this chain of pubs don’t do that. Shame as would be a great asset to the place. Some outdoor seating but again this could be made to look a lot nicer and more inviting.

It’s a lovely Sam smith boozer and there’s some gooduns oancheater. It’s actually the best Sam smith in Manchester. All the staff are lovely and the food is worth up to twice what you’d pay for it. The landlord and staff look after the taps like prodigy footballer. They keep it on the straight and narrow and it produces the goods. If only they had something to do with Gazza or Best. Float down and drink on deepest, darkest Manchester 👍

We have just returned from having another lovely meal here. My husband always has the fish and chips, which is John's signature dish. I had the scampi and chips, which was very nice too. There is a good range of dishes on the menu, including small plates for children or folk with a smaller appetite. The pub is homely with wood burning open fires and John and Kerry are fab hosts with a great team of staff.

Lovely Sam Smiths pub in Burnage. Really nice interior.. Bar, lounge and snugs(no pics of lounge as too many patrons and Sam smiths no phone policy) it's had a refurb and it's done tastefully. Big outside area. Serves double 4 and a light mild on draught along with the usual. Serves food and has a dartboard . It's a sam smiths establishment so cash only, no phones, no swearing.. recommended 🍻

Apparently the decor is wonderful (allegedly cost £500k) and the food I'm told is great too. There is even an accessible toilet. How marvellous. The only thing is there are STEPS at every entrance. You can't even sit in the garden as there is a kerb to climb to get onto the grass. My friends moved a picnic table onto the car park so we could have a drink. The Disability Discrimination Act was enacted in 1995, some 26 years ago. Frankly, it's just not good enough. Do the owners of this pub chain not realise that the spending power of disabled people in this country is £200bn pa. Given the current situation post-Covid wouldn't it make business sense to tap into some of that? In the meantime I'll be taking my custom elsewhere.

Haven’t been to this pub for ages but popped in with my daughter for drinks. The landlord and staff were absolutely lovely, especially Sammy behind the bar and the drinks were reasonably priced with great service (although there’s no choice of wines). I could just about cope with the no phones/tablets rule (though it’s a bit strange in 2020) but to my disappointment you can’t use cards at all. My daughter had to run to the cash machine up the road. Not only is this inconvenient but it’s putting staff and customers at risk of Covid because cash is phenomenally dirty (NHS worker here) and you’re doing yourself out of business because we left early rather than go for more cash and although I’ve heard the food is good I wouldn’t want to have to bring cash to pay a large bill. Would love to come back as this pub is much improved but get a flipping card machine please Sam Smiths!

We booked a table for teatime and on our arrival filled out the trace and track form because of the the current conditions. We both decided to have a pie , I had chicken, ham and leek and my husband had the steak and Sam Smiths ale pie. We also shared a portion of onion rings. We really enjoyed our meal and were glad to know the pub is taking part in the 'eat out help out scheme. Would highly recommend the food here and we saw someone have the fish and chips which was massive!

Lovely small and old style pub. Sits in its own grounds with nice garden. Nice food and beer. Not expensive and good value for money. No loud music or TV blasting away. Hard to believe you're close to a busy city. You'd almost think you're in the lake district national park 😊 especially in winter with the roaring fire.

My aunt came to visit my mother from Scotland and we decided to have a family meal at the Sun. I had the liver and onions, my husband had the beef and ale pie, the sisters both had the smaller portion of scampi, my daughter had the beef burger and chips and the twins had chicken nuggets. All the meals came out together and piping hot. We all enjoyed what we had and the twins had ice cream for dessert. We will be back now that the pub is back open after lockdown.

A different experience: some of it good. The real fires are welcoming. The beer is cheap and I like Sam Smith's beer. But I ordered a coke and it was definitely not the real thing: tasted extremely cheap. I don't expect the real thing but even for catering cola this was not great. The digital detox idea is nice, helped by having newspapers lying around and some pencils for kids to draw. Food menu was cheap but didn't have time to try it. The blanket ban on swearing is also a nice idea. I'd go back there.

The barman was friendly, the lady behind the bar was a bit of a grinch as she told me off for taking my phone out to send a text. Apparently their is a no phone policy, which I thought was Boll*x but I couldn't say that out loud as there is a no swearing policy too 😂😂. Popped in here last Week, had a great time with the family, we all ordered different things as there is so much choice. Was served by a member of staff Dan I think his name was, really lovely guy friendly and welcoming and helpful with what we should order and I must say he made geat suggestions. 10/10 for service 10/10 for food and a 10/10 for Dan on the suggestions, the tiramisu hot pocket was a great shout. Just come in again for another visit and must say really enjoyed the food we had, I tried a cookie dough waffle this time and a Ferrero Rocher thick milkshake. Was served by Dan again nice to see his smiley face welcoming us back 10/10 once again
