My husband and I went to the Summit Inn (Littleborough) for a few drinks and a meal. It was a couple of years since we last visited. Straight away we noticed things have deteriorated, one young lady behind the bar and another serving meals although the pub was very busy. This is not a complaint about the staff as it was obvious they were run off their feet. We were warned of a 40 minute wait for meals which came and passed. When the meal arrived it was a disgrace. How the chef let this meal leave the kitchen is a bad indication of his/her ability. One of the meals contained a baked potato and the skin was rock hard, impossible to cut into. The cheese and onion pie had collapsed into an almost flat mess. The beans were okay. The second meal was chilli with chips and rice. It arrived at the table with a skin on top. It looked to me as if it had been stood for a long time and then microwaved and served. Chatting with other customers outside the pub it sounded like this was quite common. This used to be a good pub with good meals, not any more. We won't be visiting again under this management.

Popped in for a sandwich and a coffee. Two doorstops pieces of white bread, no butter and the ham was grissly. Don't knoow whar they did to the chips but they were greasy. I am sure they can do much better but very disappointed on that visit

Absolutely disgusting, fish had no flavour , my pie was raw. Took over an hour for food to come and too top it all off it gave me food poisoning which ruined my weekend as I was meant to be celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday. Definitely won’t be returning

Had a nice meal here with friends, the people who run it (especially The landlord Daniel) are very customer focused, helpful, and could not do enough for us. When I went there was hardly anyone in the pub I ordered a drink and a hot sandwich, the sandwich took over 1/2 and hour to be served , in this time I had to go to the bar twice to ask about it for a not very busy pub I can't think why it took someone to make and serve a hot sandwich

If I could give 2 and half stars I would. The food is OK/good - pricing, quality and quantity is in line with others. However the wait for food is appalling. We waiting over an hour for our food to arrive with no updates or notification that food would be so long. They advised they were busy but they only had one table inside of two people and 6 tables outside. Ourselves being on if the largest at 4. We were told they were just plating up the food when chasing for the second time, however 10 minutes later still no food. We were 2 minutes away from requesting a refund and walking out. We even had to chase up knife and forks. This isn’t the first time I’ve been, I’ve been two previous times with the family and service was slow and again not been busy. This was the last chance and unfortunately failed. Good for a quick drink coming off the canal as the bar staff are pleasant, but unfortunately that’s all I would advise.

I can't give a thorough review because I was only in there for a drink after a long walk over Crook Hill. It was comfortable enough and the Thwaites beer was tasty and hit the spot. Ordered a couple of beef burgers, one with chips and one with fries. The burgers were relatively expensive at £13 yet they were very underwhelming. The beef patties were thin and the cheese was scanty. The serving of fries were far from large and were soggy. Can't comment on other items off the menu but I'd certainly avoid ordering a burger.

Called in for food on Saturday. We couldn't complain about the food, it was hot and tasty. The reason it only scored 3 is because the place was filthy. Carpets needed a good clean and both the disabled and ladies toilets were awful and didn't look like they had been cleaned for a long time. It was only lunchtime so couldn't have been used by many. Will definitely think twice before going again

Service was poor, waited ages, came at different times and then tabled not cleared. First and last time avoid. Thank you for your response but not interested in excuses, you should have shut if you didn't have the staff to provide the right level of service. I agree the pub was being run by teenagers as assuming owners were out enjoying themselves, as you say it was Xmas eve and most people work hard and should be appreciated but I would offer some advice, you might want take a better lead on managing your staff as I agree they cannot be blamed for poor management. In terms of how busy you were ? No busier than normal plus our group had a total of 4 people and we ordered all 4 at the same time so not sure what you are trying to insinuate? Obviously you were not there and suggest you check again and get your facts correct ? Just to confirm we will not be coming to your establishment again and good luck in the future, you will need it 👍

Unfortunately I ordered Chicken and Tarragon pie but the sauce was like water and there was not a hint of tarragon, in fact it was tasteless. Took it back and explained the situation. The two young staff were very apologetic however the manager made no appearance or offered an apology and left it to her young waitress, the waitress gave me a refund. Not impressed with the food or the manager- and I should add have had really good food in the past. We chose to go to the Summit for lunch today with our friends because we know the food is good, there is parking at the door and no steps into the pub. One of our party walks very hesitantly using a frame and can become very anxious due to suffering from vascular dementia. As soon as she arrived our friend became very anxious and agitated which she expressed very loudly. We had chosen a table with plenty of space around. By the time our friend reached the table everyone in the place knew she was there. As she was sitting down our friend knocked over a pint of lager which spilled everywhere. At this point she became acutely distressed and her husband was mortified. The waitress was amazing, speeding into action with a mop and bucket reassuring our friend that it was nothing that couldn’t be sorted. Our friend became calm. We ordered our meals which were excellent. Although the restaurant was quiet when we arrived it filled up as we left. There were a few more tables to negotiate as we made our way to the door. We met nothing but patience and kindness. Our friends had a lovely lunch and thoroughly enjoyed their few hours outside their home. I can’t thank the Summit staff for making us feel so welcome.

1/10 only good thing was the bottle of old mout cider. Dog friendly but people moving away from us (sausage dog who sat in silence) steak ciabatta came on a bread roll and was a like a tough dry piece of beef rather than any kind of steak. Food also came in around 3 minutes which tells me it's was all just heated up.
