The Sugar Loaf in Melton

Popped in for a mid week lunch. Both the lasagne and chicken off the specials board were delicious. Friendly service as ever. Definitely worth a visit if you're passing.

Came in here after a trip back to Nottingham from Corby past the place a few times but decided to go in for a bite to eat Staff were polite and friendly food was really nice Will deffo go back

The pub is in need of a little TLC. The beer though is well looked after and nice I can't score food as I didn't try anything 😍

We stopped here for lunch and it was absolutely delicious. A great pub serving proper homecooked food, generous portions and a lovely atmosphere.

I came for a birthday celebration and had pie and pudding. It was absolutely the best pie I have eaten in a long time. I had the steak and Stilton, the chips were fabulous too. Treacle sponge and custard for pudding, what a treat. Great service, great atmosphere, great value, would definitely recommend

Great staff food very good will definitely be backsoon

Not been here before I had the carvery. Potatoes not very crispy veg was served separately which was nice had to ask for cutlery and for salt and pepper. Would be better if tables laid with these already on. Table was sticky. Had the cheesecake for dessert which was lovely but just didn't like the presentation as it came in a jar. Nice little pub though and reasonably priced

We stopped here for lunch in the conservatory and we were really impressed. The food was homemade and delicious (including great chips!) and the friendly service was excellent.

Booked for a sunday roast, waited about 35 mins then chased only to be told they had run out due to loads of walk in. Not happy, more so as others who arrived later were served. Extremly disappointed

Lovely roast with plenty of vegetables brought to the table to go with it. Dessert was also very nice, I had the sticky toffee pudding with custard.

Eve and Paul and great hosts, we really enjoyed the fantastic wine today. We've not been up in a while due to Anne having knee surgery . We enjoyed the same great welcoming smile and greeting xxx Have a fantastic 2024 both, and we'll see you soon x

Good atmosphere on Friday night. Food was quite good but not exceptional.

Sticky table. Carvery was OK. Cooking vegetables to order was a nice touch. Not bad but not great either. Would go back again, eventually. Updated Sept 2023: It's improved. Veg a little under but otherwise a very nice meal. Much cleaner surroundings and will be back more often now...

Lovely food and a nice setting. All the young girls were really polite with a great attitude. We will be back when we come and visit again.

Molly performed exceptionally well serving me my guiness. Friendly local country pub located not too far from Melton Mowbray. Staff are nice and cheerful and the other patrons seemed to be pleasant.

Very friendly welcome, excellent service. We stopped for lunch mid week as we were passing through the area. Very tasty, generous portions and the handcut chips were fantastic - they are definitely worth calling in for!. They even provided a smaller appetite menu for my friend's elderly mum as she doesn't eat such big meals these days. Would call again if I was in the area.

Lovely pub good food and service

Booked a table to eat here as a stop off on our journey to Lincolnshire. This is one of those places you wished you lived closer to, what a lovely pub with fabulous hosts, as for the food well all I can say is amazing, prawn cocktail was very well presented and delicious served with fresh warm farmhouse bread and butter (gluten free option available) my wife had the rump steak and I had the sirloin both were cooked to perfection and both were melt in your mouth, as for the chunky chips that accompanied them well I actually think they were the best chips I've ever eaten, there was a Portobello mushroom and half a grilled tomato along with a side salad too, all very well presented I must say. We will definitely return in the future even if it means driving the 30 miles from home just to eat here again.

Just had the most delicious carvery at the Sugar Loaf pub well worth a trip out. Its a great pub with great service and great food. Definitely worth a 2nd visit.

One of our go to pubs. Never had a bad meal yet with the current owners. Always pleasant and they can even guess what we’re going to eat 😀 highly recommend.

We went for my birthday and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The food was beautiful and the service fantastic. A lovely place to eat and friendly locals too. We'll, they were when I shared my cake 😂 would recommend.

We popped in briefly on a journey home. Needed a. Rest and some refreshments. It was quiet as it was quite late on a Thursday night and the road had been block off for road works. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We sat in a nice corner and played a few games if cards then ... Off we went. I would like to go back again during the day as, although on a busy road, this looks like a warm welcoming pub that I'd like to frequent.

Really friendly and helpful staff and gorgeous food! We only visit occasionally because we live nearly twenty miles away but would definitely come here more often if we were closer.

Haven't been to this pub for many years, but as we were passing, went in at lunchtime. They do smaller portions if you wish, i had lovely lasagne and very fresh salad in small size, hubby had lovely chunky gammon steak. All very hot and fresh, will visit again.

Ok a bit of back story, 2004 was the last time I was in the Sugar Loaf. It was my Nans funeral, when she was alive we used to come over just for a bowl of chips. So 18 years later I bring my children who are now 8 and 2 to enjoy the same bowl of chips I used to enjoy. Pint was lovely chips were even lovelier. Thank you sugar loaf for feed so many brilliant memories. 5 star

Lovely Sunday dinner with my family

Atmosphere was great, service was good, Wellington was not as described was more mushroom than anything else. Steak was cooked very very well, and chef was able to provide garlic butter as well.

Loved the pie night on Wednesday. Great steak and Stilton pie and fish pie with fresh vegetables and chips. Great value for money.

Really nice lunch there. Catered for 11 of us. Very pleasant staff. Highly recommended
