The Sugar Loaf in Central Bedfordshire

We brought our sister for afternoon tea whose birthday is approaching. It was a shame that despite the regal surroundings and beauty of this hotel a the tea was underwhelming in many aspects. The sandwiches didn’t seem that fresh and had strange fillings!!! We were given a very small table and had to constantly rearrange the crockery. The sandwich ‘tree’ couldn’t fit on the table so they had to bring another table last minute!!! The cakes didn’t seem that fresh either. The service was poor. The girl took our plates away while my sister was still finishing her sandwich. The waitress was nice but not that well trained and the whole experience had no ambience atall

Good old fashioned proper pub..

Stopped in for a tea, coffee and scone for the first time this weekend as we happened to drive past. It was all lovely and reasonably priced. However it is disappointing that a venue in such a prime countryside location doesn’t at least allow dogs inside somewhere. I imagine their foot traffic would increase substantially if dog walkers could come in for a post/pre walk refreshment.

This place could be amazing but it is lacking atmosphere and the food is very ordinary. It needs a total overhaul. Everything feels dated and they need to look at other restaurants/brasseries in other area. It always seems half empty. Wouldn't go back again.

Had my late father's wake at the swan ❤️ my thanks go out to Stephanie and the staff and kitchen girls the food was fabulous and 😋 yummy catered for the fussy eaters the vegans the vegetarians and was careful that there was no nut products I praise everyone for the lovely lay out buffet cannot fault anything would recommend any Avent at this pub 🍻 thankyou from bottom of my heart to all ❣️
