Lovely pub right along the front of secluded beach in St. Lawrence. Bar staff are friendly and welcoming, always playing 60/70/80’s music. Pool table, dart board, dogs welcome and if you’re hungry there is a curry house on the side or Fresh Seafood stall in the garden area. Not long moved close to the area and will forever be returning to this little gem!

Newly open Seafood shack is great. Good value, great food, top views from the south bank of the Blackwater looking over local moorings and anchorage across to Tollesbury and West Mersea.... where seafood has queues, food more expensive, and the dressed crab here better.

We popped in for a drink and some Sunday lunch. Nice looking pub but they don’t serve food at all. There’s an Indian Resturant next door that we were referred too, but they don’t open until 5pm! So in summary, nice little waterfront local for a drink but don’t go to eat unless you want an Indian meal from next door.

Called in for a drink and hoping for food. Nice tidy clean pub with friendly barman. Did ask for coffee but you needed the café which was next to the pub to be open. He didn't know if was opening that day or not. No menus or anything about food around so we just had soft drinks. This pub is in a beautiful setting on the riverside so maybe we just picked the wrong day. .

Old style middle of nowhere pub, friendly staff, clean pub decorated nicely. Food was very good, service was decent enough and was busy for a Monday mid afternoon with a mixture of retired types, diners, contractors and families.

Since the take over the decor is a lot brighter. Furniture still a bit dated.they seem to be putting more events on and food is improving with choice and opening times.parking is an issue but seeing as no one police's the double fellows I wouldn't worry too much. Work in process but heading in the right direction

The Stone Inn is well placed right on the coast of the Blackwater Estuary. It has been newly refurbished and offers generous seating both indoors and outside. Although I only visited to for a drink on this occasion, I have eaten lunch here before and the experience was pretty average. I wouldn't call this a 'must visit' pub - despite the fact that it is clean and well presented. As a stopping off point for drinks while on a seafront walk - it is absolutely fine - but as a place to head to for a delicious lunch, I would suggest there are probably better places to eat within the locality. It's a shame also that the outdoor seating area is well below the level of the river, therefore missing the opportunity to enjoy the great view while sipping your drinks. Not a bad place by any means - but could be even better.

We were out and went to The Stone Inn for lunch. After asking for a menu we were told we can only do baguettes, as they don't do food at lunchtimes. It appears no chef again.👎We walked out in disgust. Well they have lost us as customers. Why is it that places that were once very good, now don't make an effort? I know they have changed hands a few times over recent years but they don't seem to be trying to attract or keep customers! Lots of potential but they failed.👎

Nice friendly pub where we would have sat all afternoon, but there was a limited selection of drinks, only one white wine and no tonic water. If the weather is nice they have a great seating area outside looking out to the water.

popped in here with my hubby and kids last weekend. all i can say is im surprised this place is still trading. The bar area has obviously been upgraded but the restaurant (if you can call it that) that overlooks the sea is frankly disgusting. The tables are dirty, chairs are old and the carpet is filthy. We asked for about 5 different meals only to be told there was nothing left in the kitchen!! We were told that their delivery had not arrived which is strange as this was the excuse we had when we went there about 2 months ago. Its a shame as this is a prime location and could make a lot of money but it seems as if the landlord has just given up. it should be closed down. We defintiely wont be going back there anytime soon or ever.

Saturday lunchtime in the rain, lovely welcome by friendly staff, ordered our food and watched the world go by. Well used pub, comfortable and down to earth. A traditional space where there was no 'click' just relaxed normal people. When the food arrived ( which was delayed due to a fryer malfunctioning) it was hot, tasty and well presented. A very nice respite from the rain, and a lovely walk along the waters edge after.

We were driving around in the Southminster area & decided to drive on to St. Lawrence Bay & came across the Stone Inn right down by the river Blackwater estuary & decided to stop for some refreshments. We received a warm welcome fromthe landlord & his wife & ordered some drinks & went & sat down in their restaurant. After perusing their menu we ordered our choices which arrived shortly afterwards, the mains were well presented & of good size. It was apparent that all the items on our plates were freshly cooked & they tasted very good indeed. The service we received was excellent, the food was good & all at a very reasonable price.

I booked a table here a week in advance for a table of 11, upon booking was NOT advised that they only serve Roast Dinner on a Sunday. So upon arrival to say I was pee'd off would be an understatement! The parking is a JOKE where this establishment is situated, we had our 90 year old great aunt with us who has difficulty walking as it is, so we pulled up outside to let her out and then proceeded to find somewhere to park afterwards, which resulted in snotty locals groaning because we dared to stop to drop her off. Ignorant. Will not be returning.

Sunny, Saturday afternoon ruined by rude bar staff and understaffed, fair food. We waited 1/2 hour just for a drink and ended up walking away because the bartender argued that I had been the next to be served. We then waited over an hour to be served McDonaldesque food. Never again!

Sunday lunch was great. 6 of us booked in advance and we were not disappointed. The potatoes were new fresh roasted and the Yorkshires all home cooked. The choice was beef or pork and both were delicious. The ales also were good and the staff were very friendly and had a giggle which made it a very pleasant experience. Katie (I think that was her name) behind the bar was a little dynamo. Lovely smile and remembered the drinks round after one visit to the bar even though the pub was packed. Well done you.

The Stone Inn has recently been taken over and re-opened 14/03/14. The service within the bar has improved already with the staff being cheerful and serving you with a smile. The restaurant is called the Stones Throw has also been franchised out and this re-opened the same day. The franchisee was welcoming and spoke of his aspirations and was happy, cheerful and again served us with a smile. The menu was good and with varied options and well-priced. The menu on a Sunday was also very good and there is an option to book. We had a ham baguette and a Tuna baguette both were served with a garnish salad and crisps, both baguettes were full. Had they had a salad option on the menu I would have scored them higher.

On the 5th October a group of us were booked for a meal at the Green Man: we had booked by email a few days before and the day before we phoned to confirm and change the numbers from 8 to 7. We were told that would be fine and no problem. On the day we arrived and were told they had no record of the booking because it wasn’t in the book. The bar staff said we couldn’t have booked by email or it would be in the book. We said we’d phoned the day before and were told that would be fine: the bar staff said we must have phoned the wrong number. We used the same phone and pressed redial: the staff said we should wait a moment as their phone was ringing. We pointed out that proved we’d used the right phone number: the bar staff said she’d no idea about that and we couldn’t have made a booking because it wasn’t in the book. Her attitude throughout our discussion was extremely off-hand, bordering on rude: she gave no hint of an apology and no indication of what could have gone wrong with their system for taking bookings. Even when we’d proved that we’d phoned the right number, she refused to accept that we’d contacted you at all and simply said you were too busy and couldn’t give us a meal. It was made very clear that she just wanted us to go away. Luckily we were able to make a booking on the spot for the King’s Head, who in complete contrast to the Green Man were very helpful & gave us an excellent meal. It is a great pity that their standard of service and politeness has deteriorated so much, since we as a group regularly sail to Burnham and have used the Green Man for many years; however we shall no longer trouble the Green Man with our custom since it is clearly not wanted.

This is a lovely little tea rooms and garden coupled together with an antique shop. You can either sit inside amongst all the antiques that are for sale or sit outside in a very pleasant cottage type garden. It is a little like stepping back in time with hot drinks served in bone china cups and saucers. Reasonably priced and well worth a look if in the area.
