No volveré.

Expensive 44GBP steak, not tasty. Potatoes are dry. Staff does their best to not look you in the eye when they walk by so they won't have to help you or get you salt and pepper and they hope somebody else from the staff catches your attention. They show you the sauce as a side and charge you £3.00 for it. Rip off. One beer, some bread, the steak and sauce cost total of £65.--

Staff friendly my friend and I ordered the Sunday roast beef meal. Unfortunately the 2 slices of beef had more fat than meat. Mentioned it to staff and service was removed from bill as she could see the issue. It spoilt a lovely day which was my birthday treat . We will not return.

I went with my partner, they had the smoked chicken and I treated myself to a Fillet Steak. The Steak was good, though not on my top 10 of all time steaks. I tasted the smoked chicken and wished I had chosen that instead.

We were in the mood for a real meal in a real restaurant, something filling. We were also interested, at that moment, in some traditional English food. Beef, yorkshire pudding ( which we did not know what it was, at all, it turns out ), etc. Liked atmosphere, dark and light at the same time - very hard to carry off. I enjoyed just sitting there. It was pretty quiet, as we were there close to closing, the clientele limited and we had chosen a spot away from it all. Though modern, it had the feel of a traditional restaurant. Sedate, probably too boring for the young, in crowd, but perfect for someone who wants to just sit and savor the meal with no distractions except the wife you love in front of you. The meal was good, varied and ample. While not at the very top of the scale and somewhat expensive, we thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience. The staff was attentive and friendly, as should be. If I return to London, I will come here for the Sunday roast night dinner, which seems to be the thing there. I am sure I will enjoy it.

Made reservation from concierge at local hotel. He told them that it was my wife’s birthday. Arrived and first was tried to be seated in the middle of a noisy room., despite reservations. Both wife and I ordered ribeye steaks. Tried to change salad included option but was told I could not even if I was willing to pay the difference. Steaks were ever small but cooked ok. Steaks lacked any seasoning. Tough and chewy/cheap. Price was not. After paying over 100 pounds I would have expected better. Chain restaurants like Outback and others are better. THEY NEVER EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED MY WIFES BIRTHDAY. I would avoid at all cost. Service rushed us to finish wine before we were even done. Very disappointing

Whilst the quality of the meat was beautuful, unfortunately there's lpts of room for improvement elewhere. The welcome was almost hostile, giving our name 3 times, then asked to see the confirmation. Didnt make us feel.welcome until the lovely new manager took over. Additionally and most importantly, i advised our waiter that i was gluten free and in spite of this, they served a yorkshire pudding that was not GF. This is dangerous and i would implore this restaurant to quickly make amends to the way they handle food intolerance. I leave feeling shocked at how lax your approach is to fpod allergies, which cqn have huge impacts. Thank you to the new nanager for hearing us and promising action on this matter.

We visited for dinner prior to a theatre show. We didn’t book but were received with a very warm welcome and the service was very attentive throughout our visit. We decided to eat from the A La Carte Menu. The food was ok, our briskets were on the chewy side, tasty just but the whole dish was just about warm hence the average score. I guess food wise we could say it’s overpriced but then that’s London and we were grateful to get a table somewhere cosy and warm.

Visited last night for a drink before dinner. Our drinks order was taken quickly but then very slow to arrive. After about 10 mins we asked where our bottle of champagne was we saw some movement and it duly arrived and was poured. However it was warm and at £120 I don’t think that is acceptable. I pointed this out to the server and she said well it was in the fridge! She then took it away to put it in the fridge for us which was a bit too little too late. I then pointed out when we paid that our champagne was warm but no discount or even apology was offered

Mediocre food at best at high prices. Poor service Went here for a work "do", about 20 of us. There were name plates with the pre order on them, everyone had one except me. I was assured I would be fed, however as some of the meals come with side and others you have to order separately , my main meal arrived a good 15 minutes after everyone else and didn't have the potatoes on it and the side I had ordered had been claimed by someone else, I went without. the mains are in the range of £18 to £40, I would expect a pie which is not a true pie, a bowl with a pasty lid would come with potatoes of some description but not, so a £20 pie. sides are in the region of £8. Desserts, disappointing, I must have pulled faces whilst eating as my colleagues asked if I enjoyed my dessert. then came their own opinions, not one of them good. Service - takes about 20 to 30 minutes from ordering to receiving a drink. flagging down a member of staff was really hard partly due to the fact that we were shoved into a corner of the restaurant, which was a squeeze for 20 people. the rest of the restaurant was quiet and we could have had more room. I pitied the poor women who were in the corner hemmed in by us bunch, on leaving on of them banged her head on a shelf that was difficult to see because of the lighting and crowding. I discussed the whole experience with my colleagues and they all agreed the food only just met the ok standard but was overpriced and the service rubbish. at the end of the evening I was still hungry and really couldn't find a nice thing to say about it.

The place is modern, spacious and promising. Though our waiter was "not in the mood" that day, we brought enough energy to the table to make it work. The food is a bit toppy on price - £35 for a modest Ribeye that will have cost them £5 at most. With service at £14, the bill for 2 Rib eyes and 2 pints was £101 - Too much for a quick lunch. If they could tame the prices, electrify the staff then this place would be a winner.

The food here was very disappointing. I had the smoked chicken and roasted potatoes. The chicken was dry, only a hint of smoke. The potatoes were flavorless. Oddly, the server, even though she was mainly facing me (age 67), would only interact with my niece (age 34), The only time she made eye contact with me was when she asked what I wanted to order. At the end of the meal she gave the check to my niece as if there was no question as to who would be paying. Odd, since I'm totally active with no disabilities or anything else that would indicate that perhaps I was the one who might be paying, which I was. No additional tip for her due to this inconsiderate and rude manner. Seemed ageist, as I can't imagine any other reason. If you're not sure who is paying, just put the check in the middle of the table and let the customers handle it.

Service was fine, food arrived promptly. Everything else was poor. Vegetables were cold and very salty. Chicken and bacon pie had the thinnest pastry crust I’ve ever seen. There were three pieces of chicken and a few small strands of bacon in a very runny liquid. Heavily overpriced. We were totally underwhelmed.

Went in for cocktails this evening during happy hour. Friendly waiter although focussed a bit too much on one member of the group for too long. We had several cocktails during the happy hour, however as an infrequent drinker, I and others in the party would have noticed the effect of gin fizzes . I firmly believe that the measures were very short or non existent! Hence a very expensive evening of mainly soft drinks!!!

Cosa dire ... avoid , goodbye

Sunday roast left a lot to be desired my freind Ed said the same, the porn star martini was more sobering than innebriating they wanted us to share three potatoes amongst two of us. Well at least the waiting staff agreed with me that this was piss poor. My advice to all comers is, don't bother

The food was lovely but just not enough, we got the sharing roast for 2. It was £64 and we got one and a half carrot and 5 potatoes. You got a lot of chicken but not enough for two of the other meat. There was a spoonful of veg but yes not worth the money whatsoever. Our food also came within 10 mins but was a bit cold in places so you could tell it was prepped in advance. And our drinks came within 25 minutes, so we had our food first and no drinks. Mac and cheese was £8 extra. Overall wouldn’t recommend or go back

This place deserves more than Five stars! Amazing atmosphere, great vibe, fantastic staff and the most amazing food!! My steak was cooked to absolute perfection. Soooo tender and flavourful for a rib eye. The dessert (apple crumble) had flavour profiles that were out of this world. The vanilla ice cream was like I’ve never had. Staff were super friendly and overly attentive in a NOT overbearing way. They were always scanning but not in any way obtrusive. For sure, this is a future destination for us. The best meal we had in London in 2023 bar none!!

The Newman Arms, dating back to 1730 in Fitzrovia, is a true London treasure that blends authentic old-world charm with exceptional food and service. My visit was elevated by the warm, historic atmosphere—think rustic wooden beams, exposed brick walls, and a cozy fireplace, all steeped in the kind of literary lore tied to George Orwell’s *Nineteen Eighty-Four* and *Keep the Aspidistra Flying*. The white tablecloths, a rare touch for such a traditional pub, added a refined yet inviting feel, making it perfect for a memorable date night. The fish pie and beef pie, crafted by Chef Carlo, were the stars of the show. These are proper old English pies—flaky, golden pastry encasing rich, flavorful fillings. The beef pie, infused with Truman’s Runner ale, was hearty and satisfying, though some might notice a slight tomato tang that tweaks the classic recipe. The fish pie, paired with creamy mash and seasonal veg, was equally outstanding, showcasing Carlo’s mastery of traditional British fare. Our waiter, Oliver, was an absolute delight. His spot-on food recommendations made the meal even better, and his sharp sense of humor kept us laughing throughout the evening. His attentive, friendly service turned a great meal into a genuinely memorable experience. Sipping Pol Roger Champagne at just £70 a bottle—a steal for Central London—was the cherry on top, adding a touch of luxury without the hefty price tag. The drink menu also impressed with Truman’s cask ales like Runner Best Bitter and Swift Golden Ale, alongside craft beers and fine wines, catering to all tastes. The snug basement and first-floor dining room enhance the intimate, historic vibe, though the small, closely packed tables upstairs can get a tad noisy. Still, it’s a minor quirk in an otherwise stellar experience. The Newman Arms, with its rich history as a former brothel and literary haunt, Carlo’s incredible pies, and Oliver’s warm, witty service, is a real gem of a pub—a must-visit for anyone seeking authentic British charm in the heart of London.
