I and some friends had a table booked then we found out the place was closed and they didn't have the decency to inform us

We visited as our Grandson was playing football at Trafford FC. Lovely friendly pub with the team & locals warm and welcoming. We had three carveries with Gammon, Lamb, Turkey & Beef with wide range of veg including Leeks & Cauliflower Cheese, roasties, stuffing and very tasty gravy. Only £10.95! Wow. Wide range of beers on tap. Great food, atmosphere & free parking.

Boothroyd making his first ever visit to Urmston. I have been once before to The Steamhouse just after it opened. A lovely conversion of this station building. Sadly only two real ales on sale now and on this visit the Lancaster Blond was off. This left a very disappointing pint of Black Sheep bitter. Not on top form. Has a pool table, TV and sells food.

Meat & Vetetables was cold even after I mentioned to staff and they replaced Vegetables they were still cold. Gravy was Burnt Told lady and nothing was done x It’s a shame as it all looked good £70 for 4 adults 2 children wasted

Great little pub. Lovely fresh home cooked food and friendly staff. Had mothers day lunch here, would highly recommend

Excellent value, we had the chicken burger and actual homemade chips £4.95, it was hot, fresh and delicious, will be returning very soon

Called in at around 3:30pm for the Sunday roast. The chef asked us to wait whilst he cooked some fresh veg for us explaining it had been a slow day and what was on display needed refreshing, kudos to him.Three meats on offer, all nice and moist, roast potatoes were home made and nice and crispy. A good choice of vegetables too. As always a good selection of beers. Pleasant surroundings, lunch available 12 to 5pm.

Visited this pub yesterday with my family..24 06 2023 i ordered one shandy one lager,and two cokes,,payed the bill with my credit card ,the time was 16 22 ,,,£17 60 was taken from my account ,i know i should have looked at the amount before i left the bar, but it a lesson learned not to visit a put were thief's work behind the bar ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,zero stars,,

Downstairs disabled toilet AKA where you go for a line of sniff Steady stream of people going into the downstairs disabled toilet then leaving to head upstairs to the conventional toilets. When I went to go into the "empty" disabled toilet, the door slammed shut. Go figure Shame this is taking over in Urmston

If you want to spend over £200 for an annual mother's Day lunch, steer well clear! My partner and family didn't complain at the time out of courtesy to their mother. Home now, so here goes... Lumpy mash, undercooked parsnips, overcooked carrots, rock hard Yorkshire puddings. Spending that sort of money, you expect a certain standard which you failed miserably to achieve. Kitchen staff still paid? They must be laughing all the way home. Hopefully, it should be sorted by next year; sadly we won't be there to witness it. In the catering game you only get one chance, sadly you've had yours and failed miserably.

Warm and welcoming platform public house - solid selection of ales and other drinks, with a changing range of food options. Pet friendly - though I can’t promise the handsome dog who greeted us on our visit will also be there when you attend ☺️ A range of parking options are nearby, but it also sits directly on Urmston train station if you prefer to keep your options open. Add in the pool table with a dedicated sports TV in the back (which helps keep the rest of the place quiet) and it’s an ideal place to just pop in and chill out.

Only had a drink, but lovely staff, and very helpful. Seating is limited inside, but a very cosy atmosphere. Saw food getting delivered to a table opposite, and looked stunning, so that is definitely on my to-do list.

The steamhouse is a really good place to go and have a few pints and maybe a bite to eat. With friendly and helpful service.

No idea how I missed this place for so many years. That's some good venue with some proper lager, good cask options and a gentle and not overly loud music. Cool place to catch a breath and enjoy a few pints with your friends.

Great local pub. The staff are very friendly and the choice of drinks is good. The food is very good with a limited choice but all the usual suspects are there.

Terible two kids meals 1hour wait .when nobody else was eating in the pub ..disgracefull .food was wrong when actualy did come ..

Another good pub in a busy town that has time for its locals and travellers who maybe passing by with sound atmosphere with people from all walks but be careful with prices in this one it can get a bit expensive but the overall a good shout next to the train station stay safe

Carvery no where near as good as it use to be, definitely does not justify massive price increase., use to come here often but will not be returning.

Not the greatest of service! Wet seats and when asked if they had something to dry them with was told the blue towels were wet? Had to sry them with our own tissues.

Zero covid precautions. No staff wearing face masks. No safety screens for the staff. Such as shame.

Terrible service, place was dirty. Walked out after waiting for service for 20 min even though we had booked a table for Sunsay lunch. My children (aged 6 and 7) were harassed by a group of paraletically drunk men - it was 2pm in the afternoon - right in front of staff who said nothing. Very disappointing!!

Bar staff very pleasant and helpful. Social distancing didn't appear to be a problem. Only concern was log book for track & trace was on open display at the end of the bar for anyone to view.

Very nice little pub in the converted station buildings. We went there on a groupon deal for lunch. Very friendly staff, nicely done out. The reason for the four stars rather than five is that our steaks were very overdone. But other than that lovely.

Urghh, went for the carvery owing to the good reviews; genuinely, what a mistake to make! Meat was being carved/butchered (has the guy carving ever cut a slice of meat in his life?) next to an open rubbish bin, people leaning over pots and pans to serve themselves, food luke warm (& that’s being generous)..... Also, the staff seemed very unhappy - not sure whether it was just a bad day but we most certainly will not be going back. Only saving grace was that we only spent £25 in total, though we could’ve made a decent roast for that!!

Had a booking on Saturday for 7pm, Groupon voucher. 1st it's not a restaurant it's a lads pub. We stood at the bar completely ignored for a good 10 minutes to be then told someone had crossed our booking out. Granted the man & lady running it were busy but we were the only 2 stood waiting it's curtious to at least acknowledge customers . Shown to tables at 7.10. No settings, no menu, very sticky tables. It's a pub feels like it needs a good clean. The steak was required medium to well done. It came out with the blood coming out and very red with what I think we're left over warmed chips. We spoke to the man eventuallty as he was busy who took it away and it was 're cooked, came back with fresh chips which were lovely and hot. I picked 2 mayonnaise bottles up both empty so asked for some. Was given a full bottle with the seal still on. Needless to say we were back home to Manchester for 8.15pm. Wasn't worth the drive.

Top drawer pub. Live music. Great crowd. Awesome staff and a really surprisingly good selection of beers. Especially the German lagers. Also the food is decent. The carvery on a Sunday is excellent value. Has a kids play area. It's got everything you're after in a pub this place.

So we planned to do the day after valentine's Day to celebrate as why would you want to pay the extortionate priced they charge for the day itself when the day after is a Saturday and we can relax and enjoy it more. So we saw a deal in Groupon for the steamhouse in Urmston for a hot stone steak meal with a glass of wine and we thought it would be a lovely way to celebrate the day. All I can say is from entering the building to leaving the service was exceptional. We were shown to our table which had been reserved for us in a nice secluded area of the pub, our order was taken, within 5 mins they were back with our order all I can say is OMG it was cooked to perfection for us both. Even though it was a large enough portion we still had room for a pudding which was as good as the main. All I can say is if you haven't been here yet, why not?? To all the staff I have to say thank you for how you made us both feel comfortable we will definitely be coming back again, Groupon deal or not. The place isn't just around the corner for us but it's worth the travel to come here. I hope everyone who reads my review comes and has as good a time as us. Happy valentine's Day everyone x

Reserved to eat a steak and I must say it was delicious. The atmosphere and stuff are friendly. Will definitely be back! If you eat there, you can reserve a table and the space is quieter compared to the rest of the pub.

Great pub in Urmston. We had steak on a hot stone, it was sizzling and a great meal.

Went on a Groupon voucher. It was good value although we couldn't swap the wine for a bottle of beer but could swap it for a pint of coke which seemed a bit odd.The meal was very nice but I thought it would be a restaurant not a pub.

Bought a Groupon voucher for a hot stone steak and glass of wine for two at the Steamhouse. The Steamhouse is situated by Urmston railway station hence the name. We arrived showed the voucher to the bar staff ordered our drinks and when we were ready to eat were asked "how do you like your steak cooked". We found a table to sit at in the back room, the pub/restaurant is undergoing refurbishment at the moment, so is a little cramped, but should be fine when complete. The steaks arrive at our table on a hot stone so we could finish cooking our steak to our exact liking. The steaks, chips and accompanying salad were very tasty and well worth the money and the travelling distance. The Sunday lunch looks appetising so will visit again to try it.

Not sure why people are saying this is a nice place? The staff were nice but everything else wasnt. The pub is cold, old fashioned & laid out very strangely. The carvery is supposed to start at 1pm but they were taking so long to bring all the veg out in oven dishes that everyone in the pub were waiting until 1:30pm before we could even line up to get the food. The food was OK but most of it ran out quite quickly as so many people were waiting all at once for it to be ready that most of it had gone! Plus the knives and forks werent much cop as they couldn't even cut the meat properly (or the cauliflower or broccoli as it was hard) Definitely won't be going back there again. Sorry.

Friendly wee pub situated next to the station platform when arriving from Manchester. Good beer, wine,and spirit selection and helpful, friendly staff. Stopped and had a drink alone whilst waiting for a friend to arrive and was perfectly happy sitting alone in a back room. Restrooms were up stairs but were clean and plenty big enough.

Family held a couple of last minute get togethers here, always a good spread at very competitive prices. A great pint also with a friendly welcome.

22 of us were looked after by the staff at The Steamhouse on Saturday. The set up of the tables and the reserved area was well thought out and we were greeted by all staff on our arrival. Thomas and Claire were perfect hosts and the food was amazing - a hot buffet with turkey, veg, potatoes and pigs and blankets. Our vegetarian friends were well looked after with huge portions. Thank you to all for making our night a memerable one.

Staff were great, food was excellent, even the chef brought our steak to us, oh and real home-cooked chips!

If you eat here, be sure to make sure you don’t want a late night. Actually impossible to order off the menu after 8pm as they close the kitchen. After all it is a bit late on a Saturday ! With so many choices in Urmston, a short sighted choice. A pity, as it’s a nice pub with nice beer, but we won’t be back.

The Sunday roast dinner here, which is a carvery, is well worth the £8.49. There’s plenty of vegetables to choose from and sauces such as cranberry, horseradish, mint and apple. Home made Yorkshire puddings, choice of two out of three meats, I had turkey and beef, both were done to a very good standard. The only problem is someone had a big dog, and it wasn’t a guide dog, queuing up with them, right next to the food being served. I don’t think this should be acceptable. I noticed the dog shake. I just wonder, being so close to the food, whether any dog hairs could have contaminated the food. I really enjoyed the roast dinner. It’s a shame that dogs are allowed so close to the carvery area. This should be stopped. I’m not against dogs, just don’t let them near the food area. I’m leaving a rating of four out of five because the food was really good.

Had the steak and wedges from the Groupon offer portion size wasn't that big left still hungry but food was good

Sunday carvery is superb and great value .

A lovely Sunday roast today. Service was excellent and the veg were cooked to perfection. What always impresses me is the veg choice - cabbage, cauliflower cheese, peas, sweetcorn, green beans and broccoli to choose from. And of course a perfect Yorkshire pud. Couldn't ask for anything more!
