The Station Restaurant in Powys

A pleasant meal with excellent service but very quiet, i suppose thats usually to be expected in January. Probably the nicest salmon we've had with a scrumptious cheese cake to follow and lovely white wine too. Waiter had a good sense of humour and kept us entertained on a quiet night and said "don't forget us on Tripadvisor" so here it is! Quickly cooked and delivered to our table with genuine warmth and a smile. Better than our first visit last summer but we don't like to make a fuss as it seemed full of holiday makers and a little short on waiting staff we hope you enjoyed your after work pint Johnny, Dean and Jenny x

Mediocre at best Service was over the top and almost creepy. Food was ok. Just. We all had just one course. It was very cold in the bar area where we ate as we had a dog with us.

We don't usually leave reviews but feel this must be said, first things first: service, started incredibly well by an enthusiastic guy who sat us at our table and served us some drinks. This was followed by our food order essentially being thrown down in front of us with little interest. This is for feedback and not to be nasty, the food was awful. Beef that had the texture of someone's shoe, gammon that, for a salty steak, might as well have been bathed in salt with a bit more salt. The guy who sat us was summoned by the indifferent waitress and he managed to bring our spirits up again and arranged to compensate our bill. We all left smiling but sadly I have to meet in the middle, 5 star service from the guy, 1 star for the food. All in all 3 stars. Beautiful, clean restaurant and we will be visiting again, all deserve a second go

Normally love the Station Grill…sorry not today. My sister wanted to treat my husband and I to a pre Christmas lunch. It was terrible! We all had to send our beef back because we couldn’t even cut it. It was tough and my sisters was just fat. They changed it to the turkey but by the time it came out the rest of the meal was cold. The cauliflower came and the sauce was so watery we were not sure if was a cheese sauce or a tasteless white sauce. The saving grace was Johnny who apologised and gave us a drink on the house as compensation. The waitress was lovely and a little ray of sunshine. The bill, with drinks was a £100 plus pounds would have expected better. ‘Cheese board was average’.

Good atmosphere with a full sitting. Service quick and friendly especially from the older waiter. We all had roast lunches, one mixed with both beef and turkey and the others beef, all generously portioned and well cooked. The cauliflower and brocolli's cheese sauce was a little watery but still delicious. We're glad we didn't have a starter since we were given so much food but the options looked good from what we saw. We will be returning, fingers crossed for a nice christmas dinner. If we had one little gripe, the music was a bit loud but didnt really affect how much we enjoyed things

We visited this place in the summer and was disappointed then, so tonight we thought we’d give it a second chance big mistake, Ordered pate for starter and my wife had the muscles, plenty of pate only to be served with 2 pieces of bread the size of a ritz cracker and as for the muscles don’t ask, I ordered for main the mixed grill £20 when it came 2 things were missing, the rump steak and black pudding I told the waitress about said missing items she said she was sorry and would rectify it so 5 minutes later my steak and black pudding turned up on another plate, there was a piece of pork on my plate which smelled like Jeffrey Dahmer had cooked , when paying the bill which I paid in full I told the manager about the missing items and her reply was it’s human error and we all forget things which is funny because the first time we visited this place the staff were rude and forgot things,

ordered the chicken pie . no chicken in the pie very disappointed The prawn cocktail was very good and the service was excellent

We found The Station Grill by chance while travelling home and wanting somewhere for dinner. We received a warm welcome on arrival and were shown to our table. The restaurant was bright and clean with amazing views of the countryside. Every staff member we spoke to was lovely including the waitress and owner who served us. Both of our meals were lovely (chicken burger and lamb burger) and although stuffed we found ourselves tempted by the pudding menu. The roulade and sundae didn’t disappoint! Two course and a drink each came to a really reasonable price. Will definitely visit again if we are ever in the area.

We have just had the most amazing meal to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary with our family. The service was professional and friendly and the food was stunning. Thank you everyone at The Station Grill fir making our evening perfect.

Friendly staff. Clean & bright surroundings. Stunning views. Food was cooked fresh to order so had a wait but it's always worth it for good fresh food. We all thoroughly enjoyed our chosen meals & desserts

Just ordered a children’s cheeseburger priced at £4.95 The quality of the meal is appalling leave well alone this is my third visit and last disappointed every time it’s the quality of the food. My previous I ordered fish and chips, fish burnt. homemade chicken and leek pie burnt served with beef gravy.

Always come here for a daily meal or date night, and always blown away! Girl on the meet and greet first time ever very rude! Service very poor even though it was very quiet asked twice for drinks top up! Dessert always look forward to them but 2nd time visiting not homemade first still frozen, tonight was definitely brought in cheesecake not nice! And overcharged on drinks we didn’t receive due to service! Disappointed as always great

We used to love this pub when we had a caravan in Llanymynech but that was 6 years ago and this time we were dissapointed with the food the chips were realy bad and the noise from the kitchen playing loud music was awful the only thing that was good was the young girls that were serving on the tables we want be going back .

Whilst driving around this beautiful part of Powis and visiting Lake Vyrnwy we were looking for somewhere for lunch and came across this establishment. A lovely quiet setting, with local history ( converted Railway Station), a warm welcome from friendly and efficient staff and very pleasant atmosphere. An excellent and varied selection of meals and snacks, drinks if you are not driving with various special offers at very reasonable prices. We were pleasantly surprised at just how good the meal and the whole experience was. Based on our visit we can only recommend 100% - superb!! keep up the good work!!

We had a roast dinner and dessert. We went for lunch on a Monday. The food and service was very good, the restaurant was light and airy. Everything was clean. Will happily go again.

The station has always been a popular place for a Sunday lunch but this visit was really disappointing. The staff were busy but quick and took the order. Starters were fair enough although the Brie ‘Bon bons’ (breaded Brie balls) were dry and over cooked. The main was the disappointing part, small portions of meat, two small roast potatoes and Yorkshire that tasted like they were cooked hours earlier and left aside … you had to have good teeth to chew through them! Some kind of mashed pumpkin and carrot that was watery and tasteless. Broccoli and cauliflower that were hard and covered in a watery sauce. Overall very bland. A few of the family risked puddings which were tastier but the waitress then spilt a coffee down my sisters back, didn’t notice and walked off. Overall won’t be revisiting. Not sure if it’s new management or new chef but wouldn’t bother to revisit.

Booked a table for 7-00 pm but we were running late so we phoned ahead to let them know we would be 15 minutes late.On arrival we were met by Lady we had not seen before as this was a regular place of eating out, she asked if we had a table booked and I said yes and we had phoned ahead to say we would be late and she could not find the booking. She eventually found the booking and proceeded to blame a member of staff. I enquired as to where Julie was and she told me her name was D and that she was the new manager. She showed us to our table and gave us our menus and took a drinks order. She then dispersed. When the waitress came with the drinks came my wife’s was the last to be served and there was a wine glass left on the tray she then asked who the wine glass was for I said it was for my wife and she replied oh we don’t normally serve bottled fruit cider with that type of glass?We were In a restaurant what did she expect my wife to do drink out of the bottle.I was then spoken to by a young waitress that we have known for some time as we were regular customers before lock down for both meals Christmas Dinners and New Years Eve.She asked how we were and if everything was Ok and I proceeded to tell her how we had been treated on our arrival and that I was not happy with the service from the knew manager, she went on to say that I was not the first person to say that and went away without asking if we were ready to order.She must have gone straight to the manager and told her what I had said as the manager came to the table to she was sorry if she had offended me and asked if we were ready to order. We said yes and she took our order. When the food came to the table it was not to the usual standard that we have been accustomed to from the Station Grill. When we finished our main meal a waitress came and cleared the table and went away, we then sat waiting for someone to come and ask us if we wanted a desert no one came so we asked for the bill. During this time the knew so called manager was sat outside smoking with a customer from in the bar,when she eventually came to the table she asked if everything was Ok so I told her that I was not happy as we had waited for half an hour to be be asked if wanted a desert and that no one had bothered to come to the table.To this she replied would you like me to get you the desert menus and you can have them complimentary to which I replied that we just wanted to leave and pay the bill as the whole evening had been a very u pleasant experience to which she just put the bill down and walked away. We sat waiting for someone to come with the card machine o on came so we got up and went to the reception to pay were upon 4 members of the waiting staff were stood around talking and the new manager D was no were-to be seen.We paid the bill and left. Unfortunately the people on the next table to us had similar experiences.So all I can say to Julie Gibson is get back to been front of house and in control like it used to be or she could see her bussiness going down the pan.

We booked a table at this restaurant On arrival, we saw a notice asking us to 'Wait to be seated' Fair enough!!!! The only problem there was that members of the restaurant staff walked past us several times without even appearing to notice our presence and after the best part of 10 minutes we had to approach the bar area and tell them we were there. We had a starter and main meal. The ordering of the meal was sluggish to say the least with a server going off to find a pad which again, took the best part of 10 minutes. The starters were OK (ish) apart from the neatly cut bread and butter accompanying the prawn and crayfish dish was stale. The main dishes were a very different story - One rare steak was ordered - it was gristly and certainly not presented rare. My sea bass appeared to still be swimming - unfortunately it was in an oily lemon tasting substance surrounded by capers and a few bits of pepper. It came with a separate portion of chips, which I thought was an unusual form of potato with sea bass. The third member of our party had a king prawn pasta dish - they were the smallest king prawns I have ever seen and the whole dish had five prawns in it. The unfortunate recipient of this dish complained and after a lot of faffing about we were told the 'Chef' would be out to speak to us. When 'Chef' arrived she immediately informed us that she was also the owner of the establishment and that no one had ever complained about the food before. Her whole demeanor was aggressive and slightly intimidating. She said that the King Prawn dish had been costed out and that 5 prawns was the norm - She insisted that the prawns were of the 'King' variety, which I seriously doubt! She talked over us and totally failed to listen to what we were saying. She may well have been the owner - BUT, I think the title 'Chef' was stretching it a bit! We all hear that hospitality is struggling during the pandemic, but, come on!!!! This is not the way to re establish your restaurant business. There were only four tables occupied in a large restaurant area. I think both the service and the food should have been a little better that that.

Based on reviews thought this would be a good place to eat after arriving on the first night of our holiday. Bit put off on arrival as a young girl asked for table for one and was prepared to sit outside and she was told they were fully booked, but there were plenty of tables even allowing for social distancing and plenty outside. Felt quite sorry for her. Anyway sat down and ordered and young waitress decided not to write down our order, we came to wine and asked for the Pinot noir, pinot grigio she said, no we said, the pinot noir, which we then had to show her on the menu, by this time she had forgotten our order. Some 5 minutes later another girl came over and said there was a problem with our wine order and asked us what we had asked for. This time it came and was very nice for the price. Our starters were OK, mains not so great, my crispy duck salad was drowned in hoisin sauce so much so it could have been any meat! The other main was presented and we waited for the chips and veg to come, in the end we asked and was told abruptly yes they are coming! The chips were more like mini roast potatoes and the veg OK. The homemade honeycomb cheesecake sounded different and interesting for dessert but was bland and gelatinous, it did look good though. So an indifferent evening for £80.

Very disappointed with visit today. I never write reviews but though I had to on this occasion. Sunday lunch bland and small portion. 2 tiny slices of beef and 1 new potato cut in half. Waited a long time to order so in the end went up to the bar to order ourselves. Ordered second lot of drinks but never arrived so had to order again. Didn’t risk the puddings as didn’t want to spend any more money there. Sunday lunch can be hit and miss at restaurants but this was definitely a miss!!!

We recently had dinner in this restaurant with a couple of friends. We felt perfectly safe as the tables were a social distance apart and the staff were wearing masks all the time. The food was excellent and well presented. The manageress appeared to have the place running very smoothly

Went for a meal, majority of the staff were lovely. Ordered Gins to which they came and didn’t taste like gin to the slightest and asked for them to be adapted to which the barman was arrogant and rude saying “well what do you want me to do” and was extremely unhelpful to which we complained to another staff member that his colleagues behaviour was unacceptable. The rest of the meal continued and the manager was extremely lovely and checking everything was okay. As we left, we said Thankyou to the manager and as walking out the door another member of staff shouted “....... is the best bar tender” at us. We found this extremely childish and disgraceful behaviour coming from bar staff! Disappointed as it would have been a great experience was it not for 2 specific members of staff!

Each visit we have been very impressed with the very friendly and enthusiastic staff who always ensure you have everything you need. Great food again tonight. We called in after travelling back from Criccieth!

6 of us ate here and I have to say it’s the best pub food we ate on our trip. The place is lovely,staff all very friendly and helpful,a little diamond called Niaomi was our server. She made our visit to be honest,lovely and friendly,very helpful and chatty and a fantastic personality. We will definitely recommend to friends when they visit this area .

Ordered Roasted Vegetable Paella with Sun Dried Tomatoes because although I'm a meat eater now I was vegetarian for 20 years. I fancied something meat free for a change. The rice was flavourless as were the aubergines, courgette and mushroom. I was expecting some big flavours. I hoped the tomatoes might boost it. It was difficult to find any tomato. What was there looked as if it was one chopped and added as an afterthought. I tried adding condiments to flavour it but eventually gave up. My husbands Crispy Shredded Duck was packed with flavour. I shouldn't have had to question my own taste buds though. I drew this to the attention of waiting staff but had to approach them as nobody had come to check if we were OK. The waitress did deal with me promptly and offered an alternative but as my husband had neay finished his I declined the offer and requested not to be billed the £12.50. Left rather underwhelmed.

Had my Birthday lunch here on 6 June. I've been here a couple of years ago and was very impressed then. Happy to say that they have the same high standards. From the minute we arrived to when we left, the service was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and well presented. A really nice atmosphere too.

Great Sunday Lunch, excellent service. Well spaced out tables and plenty of outdoor seating. Dogs welcome outside and in the bar (not in the restaurant if you choose to dine in there). There is a secure play area for children. Food is really lovely, have been here a few times and it always delivers. Doesn't look too inviting from the front, it being next to a supermarket, but don't let that stop you driving past. plenty of parking out front, inside is very nice and welcoming, outside is peaceful with lovely far stretching country views from the terraces. Will definitely come again.

Visited as a group of 6. 5 adults and one child. The restaurant tables are very well spaced and everywhere is well sanitised and clean. All the staff we encountered we very friendly and helpful. The food was served quickly and was hot and absolutely delicious. We all had different meals and everyone is us commented in how good the food was. The menu’s are not extensive but there is a good choice of starters, mains and desserts for every palette. Definitely will be returning in the future and would highly recommend.

Visited many times- Excellent food, service usually very good but please please please improve the ambience with dimmer lightening and or candles in all areas- way too bright, would really benefit from a more cosy atmosphere.

We were recommended this place by the owners at Cyfie Farm and we're glad they did. The place and food were lovely. The staff are really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Good selection of beers as well. We will definitely return next time we are in the area.

Absolutely the very best food that we have had in a very long time. My wife and I popped in here on the off chance. She had fish and chips and I had pork belly. Both were superb. I only wished that I lived in this part of the UK to eat here frequently.Most highly recommended.

Really disappointed as this was the first dining out since lockdown began. Prebooked table for 6pm - four adults and two children. Waited over 20 minutes for drinks service and then longer for taking taking order. Then waited nearly an hour for the main course. Reason given - too busy as it was the last day of the Government scheme. Waitress was extremely shouty when defending the timescale to us and continually interrupted the speaker so the whole restaurant heard we were not happy. Provided complimentary drinks when the second party member went up to complain about the timescale - again told it was because of the scheme - although the tables had clearly been reduced in number and there seemed a fair amount of staff on. This was my second visit - I had hoped the first visit with delays in serving was just a bad day but it seems not. We didn’t bother with pudding - we went to the Spar and bought some there! Such a shame and so many similar reviews stating the same issues.

To start with the positive points, the food was once again excellent: tasty, well presented, hot. The menu is broad and varied. Unfortunately, and we’ve eaten here many times and normally the service matches the high quality of the food, last night we were really let down. The mitigating circumstance for the long long wait for our pre-booked table could be that the “eat-out to help-out” scheme attracted lots of diners but when you book a table you expect to have a table! It even took a long time to be asked for our drinks order which then after another long wait, arrived incorrectly. It just felt like they had bitten off far more than they could chew. It is no fault of the establishment but I will say that the number of flies inside was a real irritant when trying to enjoy a nice meal. With good weather and the doors open this is understandably unavoidable and would happen anywhere. Not reflected in overall rating. The four stars given consider the need for them to get as many people through the door to make up for the lost trade in lockdown as possible. I’d rather they stayed open so they can return to their normal 5* service!

Booked Sunday lunch for a party of 9,requested outside table to accommodate children. Got a lovely table on the decking,over looking the play area. Excellent service,Julie was particularly attentive but all staff were great. Delicious food. Highly recommend.

Amazing customer service and fantastic lunch. The Station Grill was very busy but this did not impede on the high standards. We will be back again and again. Pre warned that it is advisable to book for Sunday Lunch, Childrens portions were generous and more appetising than usual pub grub. Spotlessly clean.

Went there being recommended for the food. The service was as fast as a snail with a limp after waiting over a hour for food and waitresses walking past ignoring tables and even wouldn’t help as We were told they were going on there breaks also glasses being left on tables with a waitress dumping a drink on the table and leaving the empty’s and walking off it felt like they didn’t want to be there. Staff let’s the hard work in the kitchen down as the food was nice. There was only two members that looked bothered to work and friendly and polite. Won’t rushing back!!!

As a family of 12 we were excited to get together after lock down for a belated 90th Birthday at the Station Grill that had to be postponed due to Covid 19 and coincided it with my sons Birthday in August.We were asked to PRE-ORDER our meals due to the group number and booked for 6.30pmWe were warmly greeted by a lovely young gentleman who allowed us to have a drink outside to wait for the rest of the party to arrive, the evening was very warm!Our starters arrived all adequate but all extremely small and overpriced.Then disaster struck, all our meals arrived a different times, with side dishes, veg, sauces and garlic bread all staggered, which made our already 'Luke warm' meals rapidly become cold, we explained to the waitress our dissatisfaction that 4 risottos and braised steak were cold and sent back to the kitchen and promised they would be made again from fresh. I discretely asked for the manager away from our table as i could see how disappointed my son looked, who aggressively told me she had probed our meals on returning them to the kitchen and they were 65 degrees which is adequate! at no point was any apology offered on behalf of the kitchen staff.The risottos (some with sea bass) were returned, yes HOT but even more bland and very little ingredients that were promised in the menu and my husbands braised steak was returned with a thick skin on the gravy that was clearly just blasted in the microwave totally unacceptable for £14.95, in total 5 meals were left uneaten.The manager came again to see if our meals were satisfactory and was surprised to see so many uneaten meals and offered us all complimentary drinks, however complimentary deserts would have been a better option (as some members were still hungry!) When she returned with the drinks she asked what was wrong with our meals we explained the above and she became very agitated, aggressive and extremely defensive, the discussion became heated and her voice became raised, we asked why was there any need to shout as we wanted to resole our issues amicably , she replied she could shout as SHE OWNED the restaurant! this drama left a very bad atmosphere and our family feeling very uncomfortable and embarrassed.Thankfully the inedible meals were removed from our bill.If a pre-order was requested there is just no excuse for any timing issues in the kitchen.But as an owner/manager if you cant take criticism or provide good customer service its sadly time to hang up the pots and pans !!!

For some reason Wales is still shut! there is hardly anything open in this area. We haven't been to this restaurant for a while and feel a bit ashamed that only lack of choice resulted in us using this place again. We were not disappointed with our limited local choice. Lovely food with a great selection of veg on the plate and a side of cauliflower and broccoli in cheese sauce ...our favourite! The roast beef was perfect for me it might have been a little on the rare side for some. puddings were great, good choice and great ice cream choice. I had warm sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. Everyone agreed......WE WILL BE BACK.There is a new glass fronted deck attached to the dining room to sit and have a drink. Lovely .

The place was busy, but socially distanced , the staff were very attentive and the service was good . The meals were served well and adequate, the Roast Pork was great . Lovely to see Julie again.

Do not go to station grill. We went as a family to be together for the first time post lockdown. Four of the risottos ordered came luke warm or cold; when handed back to staff we were told they were temperature checked and were ok but a ‘fresh’ one was being done - I highly doubt but Hmmm. One ordered chorizo risotto...we were still to find chorizo in the dish.Additionally, sauce and side veg did not arrive with the main meals and by time they had arrived the mains were cold. Garlic bread was missing from the risotto ‘replacements’ and had to be requested and waited for. When mentioning to the owner (I believe) about our dissatisfaction we were met with an attitude that I would not call ‘good customer service’ at all! We were offered complimentary drinks but the overall rudeness ruined the evening for us. Will not be returning to the station grill any time soon. RegardsA very hungry customer.

Had a meal there beef was very nice but the veg was too hard to eat .The desert although it was very tasty was quite small for the price.Cant fault the staff who were very pleasant.

We have been to the grill on numeours occasions and without doubt its the best around. Steak is always perfect.

Having had no luck in llanfyllin or Bwlch y Cibau to find an open restauran a Tuesday lunchtime, we drove on to the tried and tested Station Grill. Nice people, restaurant overlooks open fields, etc. But I'm here to talk about the risotto.. I mean, I'm a fan anyway but this one was above and beyond. Never thought of having it with sweet potato! Creamy, delicious, filling and the goat's cheese ensured it Wass nutritious. I tried to create it at home but only half succeeded.A talented chef. I must ask his name next timd. Reasonable prices too

A very testing time for all of the staff as we arrived in a power cut. The lady in charge was very friendly and helpful with Gluten Free options. It was a tough time for all of the staff and the kitchen and I think they dealt with it excellently. Our food was excellent. The Monday Pensioner’s special was very popular. All of the serving staff were helpful and attentive. It’s a very welcome stop for us en route to our holiday on the coast. We’ll definitely return.

Booked table for four, very busy and good atmosphere. Shown to table, drinks order taken and menu given out. Table service was first class. Food enjoyed by everyone. But what stood out for me where the staff, all very efficient and friendly.

We absolutely love coming to the Station Grill. Julie and her team are amazing and always make us feel special and the food is consistently outstanding. My one fault is it's a long way from where we live and we can't visit more often. It's well worth the journey and having to have a designated driver. Thank you everyone.

Sunday lunch was excellent, service was good, always good to see Julie helping at the tables . We intend try the Pensioners day meals on Mondays or Wednesdays.

Went for a meal with friends lovely place to go to , staff nice . Food was really good lots a flavour really enjoyed it and good menu choices .

The whole evening was lovely. Food was gorgeous, plenty of choice!! Especially as I am vegetarian. Came hot and well made. Fantastic attentive staff, and great setting. We even spent time after our meal in the bar. However I left on a downer as the lovely lady who has served us for part of the evening, decided to use my contactless card without asking or showing me the amount she'd put through. She had told me what was to pay, but I always like to double check. And because she didn't advise that I could use contactless, I gave her my card because I thought she would need to put it in the machine. No one ever gives receipts anymore, so I can but hope that she didn't make a genuine error and input the wrong amount. Such a shame, as the evening was perfect until this happened.

The Station Grill is an excellent restaurant. The food is always really tasty and the staff very friendly. The views to the rear, the patio area and play area are also very good.

Visited the Station Grill with the family to celebrate a birthday. Food was excellent as was the service. Apparently there is a new chef at the premises however the food was still of excellent quality. Five star service.

Great food great service as usual . We have been here for food several times in the past couple of years and it never disappoints. We will be returning.

A lovely Sunday lunch . Excellent food, served quickly by friendly and attentive staff. The restaurant lies off the main road through the village with easy parking and good access for all. We were made to feel very welcome. Although the staff were attentive they did not overdo it - the balance was just right. Whilst we were there the restaurant became very busy, but the service remained excellent. We will certainly be returning.

There were 3 adults and two children in our party booked in for an evening meal at 5.30 on Saturday. The menu had a good choice and was reasonably priced. My grand-daughters has the chicken burger and chicken nuggets with chips and beans. The chips were proper home made - nice and chunky. I had the pork medallions with onions with leek and cheese sauce. This came with carrots and broccoli and I opted for the chips. The meal was very tasty and very filling. Couldn't manage a dessert! My son had a huge lamb burger and my daughter-in-law had chicken skewers. They both thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Service was quick and the waitresses were very attentive and checked twice to see if all was well with our meal. The view from the restaurant was lovely - overlooking fields and while we were there the tractor was out cutting the grass. It was mesmerising just watching the grass being cut!!

We visited this pub two nights out of our 3 night stay in the area. Good food. Loved the goats cheese and sundried tomato risotto, also the goats cheese and beetroot burger. Sadly this place still uses PLASTIC straws and drinks stirrers

We have eaten at this restaurant many times before and the food is always delicious. However last night (Saturday 14th September 2019) we were very disappointed at the service.

We had read the reviews on your website and decided to have our first meal out of our holiday here. Four of us. The menu was so good we had real trouble deciding.

Greeted as soon as we came in, we were sat down straight away and presented with menus. We ordered drinks which arrived quickly and ordering for food taken promptly too.

We had a good Sunday lunch served well by attentive staff. We both had the Sunday roast which was tasty.we both had sweets and the bill was reasonable.

We have a caravan near by and came in this evening for dinner. Service was lovely (I should add it didn't stay lovely) and we were seated promptly.

We usually eat at The Station Grill a few times during caravan season and always look forward to it as a real treat. Tonight’s meal was fantastic as ever, and I can’t praise the staff highly enough. Always very friendly, service is spot on and the food is fabulous. Highly recommended!

Generally left feeling disappointed. Meal was, at best, average and rather overpriced. Ordered grilled cod on a bed of samphire. When it arrived I could see straight away the samphire looked poor – thin and dark instead of plump, green and fleshy. One mouthful confirmed it was totally inedible, little more than a pile of woody twigs. I told a sullen waitress whose response was that 'samphire is sometimes woody'. No apology or offer to replace it with another vegetable. When the bill came (£60 for two of us, no starters or coffees) I spoke to what I assume was the manager and said that since a key ingredient of my main course was totally inedible, I would have thought that should be reflected in the bill. Her reply was: Well there's not much I can do about that. I'll knock off two quid for the cost of the samphire! I turned down her rather insulting offer, paid the bill in full and will not be going there again. The chef should have checked that the samphire was OK before serving it and (first rule in the restaurant business) if it isn't OK, you don't put it on the plate and send it out to diners.

We ate here on Sunday 21st July as a family of 10. Food was cooked to perfection and great quality. The lady who looked after us was very pleasant and helpful! (we ate at 4pm) the cheese board I had for dessert was amazing, will definitely return!

We’ve been here a few times now and food is always spot on, well presented and good value 6 of us went on Friday night and all way great except my meal come out wrong so had to wait for it to be cooked which they did quickly but wasn’t as well cooked as my partners who had the same but still was nice so I’ve not been put off and would highly recommend trying here would have been 5 star if my food was sent out right but these things happen.

Visited here for Sunday lunch after hearing good things. The meat on roast was very tough and covered in fat and gristle. Asked for refund but manager was very rude about it. Really bad attitude.

Met friends for an early evening meal. Good choice of wine/beer. Service was efficient, staff friendly. Menu is varied and cooked to order. One main course was not to my friends liking and this was changed without hesitation. When we left the restaurant was becomming quite busy so if we would recommend booking a table.

We Had Sunday lunch here today as a family of 8 and Everything was perfect,the best roast we have had out in a very long time.The food was so good,perfect portions,plenty of gravy and veg,clean plates all round.

We called in on our way to Lake Vyrnwy and, because we only wanted a snack, we were sad that we couldn't order everything on the menu as it all looked great. What we did have we delicious. Soup and great chips for my wife and I had a Brie wrap. Service was excellent. We will be back.

Dined here a few weeks ago with the other half and the parents. Was really easy to get a table even at peak time (Saturday evening 19:00). Plenty of spaces in the car park and on arrival were quickly shown to our seats. The menu is quite big and contains a wide spectrum of meals available. My gf is gluten free and this was catered for excellently, with all the staff very aware of which meals contained gluten and which didnt. I couldnt fault the length of wait, quality and portion size of food and finally the price reflected the product. We all had 3 courses plus coffees. The general cleanliness of this place is very good, from the restaurant to the bar. The bathrooms are exceptional. Would absolutley dine here again.

Had a lovely birthday meal here for my husbands 50th. We had a really lovely evening with excellent food, lovely views and the staff were very attentive. I am lactose intolerance and was able to choose 3 courses from the vegan menu. The meals were all delicious , well presented and the price was very reasonable. The venue was busy and had a good vibe to it .Will definitely be returning.

Visited the Station Grill for a seniors lunch but was disappointed with the quality of the turkey meat it really let an otherwise good meal down. The service is brilliant and the setting lovely I hope you can improve your meat supplier in the future.

Our second birthday meal visit to this restaurant this time six of us. Our starters were lovely and my friends all found their main courses really good. I had the Chicken Ballsntine I had it on my previous visit. The chicken was very moist but the bacon was barely cooked and the cheese in the centre did not seem to be cooked? In addition they served up a very small portion of vegetables and when I queried it they said that was the serving for four people very disappointing. I won't say it's my last visit but it will be a good while before I venture back there.

We were not intending to eat here, but having had a dreadful journey of over 6 hours, we decided to stop and have something to eat.

The station grill is one of the nicest places to eat in and around Llansantffraid.. The staff are so professional, yet very friendly. The manager will go out of her way to make you feel welcome. Lovely decor, great food, lovely patio areas at the back and a children's play area. Perfect for family meals or summer afternoon drinks. Can't recommend enough!

We had another excellent meal from Julie and her team, highly recommend the food, with efficient and friendly service.

Heard some good reviews for this place as we are now less than a mile away thought we should give it a go, called to make a reservation at 16:55 told there would be a table available. On arrival greeted by friendly staff and shown to a table this restaurant is huge lots of tables great view at the back. Waitress seated us and fetched menus explained the specials and took our drink order, drinks were delivered by another member of staff also very friendly and funny (we like this in people) Starters we had prawn and langoustine cocktail and venison scotch egg food was very well cooked and prepared, mains we both opted for the Welsh rump steak cooked medium rare (more on the rare side) both meals again cooked and presented well. The sweets were lovely. All in all a very very good meal an enjoyable experience glad we visited we may have just found our new holiday home local. Well done to all the staff thank you..

Decided to call in for lunch and found they did a Seniors 2 course meal on Mondays and Wednesdays for £8.95. As it was Wednesday thought we would try it. There is a smaller menu for this which had a good selection of dishes including roast of the day. The portions weren't too big but ideal for us. You could also select anything from the Dessert menu. The food was well cooked and presented and the staff were attentive and friendly.

We went to the station Grill on Friday, the 26th of April for a family celebration when we arrived The staff were very friendly and welcoming and showed us to our table.

Called in on speck one Saturday evening staff found us a table very quickly Wonderful food excellent service vey reasonable price extensive menu food arrived fairly quickly considering they were busy and was well presented can highly recommend

Went here years ago and it was dire. Lovely visit today, good mix of bar and restaurant . Delicious food and mostly friendly staff, one young waitress clearly inexperienced . Will definitely go again

Three of the five of us had fish and chips. Lovely crispy batter, perfectly cooked chips and nicely minted peas. I'd definitely order it again although my granddaughters burger looked very tempting and she did say it was one of the best she'd ever had!

I hate giving bad reviews and after reading what others have had to say I can only think that maybe the chef who'd cooked their meals must have had a day off! The establishment is spotlessly clean, staff efficient and polite but the food we were servedwas tasteless, meat tough and portions small. My friend and I chose the Seniors' Special, gammon, egg and chips and chargrilled chicken. My broccoli was overcooked and my friend's gammon was tiny and very tough. However, the puddings were tasty and well presented. We wouldn't chose those meals again should be decide to visit once more and we both commented that we should have had two puddings instead!

What a lovely lunch we had today! Great food, big portions (choc fudge cake, wow), lovely setting! We are already planning our next visit and hoping to sit outside on a sunny day to enjoy the views along with the lovely food. Thanks very much!

Recently visited with a friend and choose from the seniors menu it was excellent. Food was delicious staff were very friendly and accommodating nothing was too much trouble. Very reasonable priced for a mid week lunch.

We decided at the last minute to go out for a meal when we stayed with my sister. She had spoken enthusiastically of The Station Grill and I wanted to see if her experiences weren’t just ‘one off’ ocassions.

Lovely views from restaurant. Sunday lunch was smashing and one of our party had a burger from the main menu. No complaints from any of us. Nice to see more unusual starters. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

The menu looks really good but the food didn't live up to expectations. The crab cakes didn't taste much of crab, probably because they were over cooked. The chicken needed more sauce and the braised beef gravy tasted more of bbq than Stonehouse ale. The prawn and langoustine cocktail was good as was the fish. The wine was very good as was the service. The staff are very friendly and polite.

Earlier on today we took my daughter to llansanfried to perform at a children's party while waiting for her we spotted a restaurant called the station grill we decided to go and have a Sunday lunch there what a great decision that was the staff on our arrival were so friendly and welcoming a lovely man called Johnny showed us to a table and soon came to take our order although the place was rather busy my husband had the beef roast dinner and I had beetroot pie both with veg cauliflower cheese and red cabbage both meals were superb ive rarely enjoyed a meal as much I even managed a sweet I just could not resist the lovely treats on the dessert menu we will definately be going there again great views and a lovely outside dining area highly recommended

Went as a couple at lunchtime, service was excellent and the food plentiful, hot and both presentation and taste were superb. Beautiful views over the countryside while we ate.

Visited today with my elderly mother who was accommodated for brilliantly, and looked after by a friendly waiter called Johnny who was lovely. It's rare nowadays to be greeted by a smile but to be seated "by a radiator since it's nippy out" too was a wonderful caring touch for us. I had the butternut squash curry and my my mum had the cod & chips which were both beautiful, though the portions were a little too big for us. Not even room for dessert! Only downside is my Shiraz tasted like it was from a bottle that had been opened a while but the only negative in an otherwise lovely restaurant. Nothing to fault, especially with a dedicated vegan menu which is so rare to see nowadays. Superb
