The Station Inn in South Lakeland

Paré aquí mientras salía con mi amigo en moto, decidí parar para tomar algo y fueron recibidos por el gerente Andy, han tomado grandes precauciones para que todo esté sucediendo en este momento. Nos sentamos en nuestra mesa y nos entregaron un menú, ¡así que no pudimos resistirnos! Inmediatamente nuestra camarera Liz se acercó y tomó nuestro pedido de bebidas, poco después de que pedimos nuestra comida, que era porciones estupendas y un precio muy razonable. Ambiente encantador en el lugar, comida deliciosa y bebidas deliciosas también. ¡Qué más podrías querer! Definitivamente recomiendo venir aquí :) daría una calificación más alta si estuviera permitido.

Las comidas eran tan abundantes que no pudimos terminarlas. Muy sabroso y con una buena relación calidad-precio. Las mesas estaban bien espaciadas. El personal fue amable y eficiente. Mi única preocupación era que el personal no usaba máscaras. Hay un campamento al lado de la posada, por lo que estaba bastante ocupado afuera.

Comida y servicio absolutamente fantásticos. La mejor carbonara que he probado en mi vida y un bistec con cerveza brillante y un pastel de champiñones.Los postres también eran geniales, con la tarta de manzana fresca y la tarta de chocolate fudge igualmente agradable.Los baños estaban muy limpios y toda la experiencia fue excelente, superando con creces nuestras expectativas de lo que WR pensó que sería un pub normal.¡Agradecimiento a todo el equipo!

Situado en el medio de la nada, bastante bonito por dentro y la mayoría de las mesas reservadas, ¿te imaginas que la comida debe ser buena? Mal, el chef es un aficionado que parece arrojar salvia en todo lo que cocina. Mi esposa pidió risotto de pimiento rojo asado que no era comestible debido a la gran cantidad de salvia que se había agregado. Las camareras fueron todas muy amables y cambiaron la comida por una lasaña sin dudarlo. Aunque una gran mejora, la lasaña era insípida, carecía de tomate y ajo, ¡pero tenía salvia! !¿Yo mismo comí pastel de carne y cerveza? con puré que estaba bastante bueno pero extrañamente vino con una jarra de salsa con sabor? ? . . si salvia ?.

Al final de un hermoso día en Lake District, nos detuvimos en The Station Inn para cenar. Un buen menú variado, comida deliciosa y excelente servicio. Comimos afuera en los espaciosos jardines que rodean el pub. También hay una gran zona de juegos para que los más pequeños se diviertan.

Good meals and very friendly service lack of lactose free deserts but had soya milk and caffeine free coffee

This was a decent pub with good service and menu choice. I had a pint of the local bitter, which was nice and hoppy. Unfortunately I wasn’t that impressed with the food. I had the Posh Fish Finger sandwich. It was two huge bits of battered fish in ciabatta with a little basket of chips. It looked lovely. However the fish fingers were way too greasy and the batter was not pleasant. I left half of my food, and have been suffering the after effects of all that oil the rest of the day. I’d like to think it was just that one dish as the service was good and it is a nice pub.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch for our extended family. There were 16 of us and so we were asked to pre-order and the menu was extensive. The food was delicious with plenty of fresh, perfectly cooked vegetables.

Had a lovely lunch in the outside area. 2 kids meal deals which were excellent value for money. The chorizo risotto was lovely and the prawn cocktail was the best I've ever had. We will definitely be back as the play area was an added bonus.

Excellent meal and service. Salmon dish really tasty and seafood with sweet potato chips an amazing dish.

We stayed at a local bed and breakfast and ate here both nights. The menu was varied and offered lots of choice for everyone. All beautifully cooked and staff very friendly.

Came in for a few drinks and some pizza with friends, great quick service and yummy food. Great deserts too! Despite it being busy didn’t have to wait too long. Highly recommend

Visited this pub for evening meals on several occasions. A simple but impressive menu. Amazing fresh vegetables!David and his staff did us proud. Will definitely be returning.

Sólo logré volver aquí recientemente para descubrir que han cambiado los menús, hay muchas opciones disponibles mi esposa disfrutó de un tajine vegetariano que ella disfrutó muchísimo y yo tenía un rissotto de gambas y champiñones que se cocinó a la perfección, el servicio fue tan bueno como siempre definitivamente uno de nuestros lugares favoritos para comer

My son and I went for a meal and it was beautiful. I had scampi and my son had a pizza, they were both gorgeous meals. The service was amazing! My son loved the play ground. Such a stunning place, would definitely return.

Me decepcionó mucho con la comida y el servicio. Esta comida era muy básica y sosa. El panini de cerdo tirado estaba seco al igual que mi queso. Los precios eran demasiado altos para lo que tienes. El personal estaba demasiado ocupado parado detrás del bar hablando y tuvimos que llamarlos. Por lo que teníamos, que debería haber tomado diez minutos, esperamos 45 minutos. mi hija pidió un zumo de naranja y me dieron calabaza en un vaso alto que era adecuado para un niño de 2 años. estuvimos allí tanto tiempo (más de 2 horas) tuvo que hacer arreglos para recoger a su hijo de la escuela. Pensamos que los dulces estarían bien, pero esto tampoco era mejor. Una pequeña cantidad de esponja en el fondo de un vaso con helado y crema en la parte superior. Esto fue sobrevaluado por al menos 2. 50. No es de extrañar que estuviera casi vacío. Recomiendo conseguir un cocinero adecuado y bajar los precios. . We had family up from down south whom we hadn’t seen for quite a number of years and we booked a table for 10 here.

Called in for lunch today but left without eating, their prices have risen and there are no vegetarian choices on their menu, unless you want a sandwich, which I didn't and only 1 thing on the specials board which did not sound appealing. The waitress offered no alternatives or to speak with the chef. Very disappointing as up until around 6 months ago we loved this place.

Just back from a two night stay at The Station Inn.

On the whole I would rate this as very good, apart from some of the service which let it down. The rooms were fine in general apart from a small issue (one had a small leak from the shower in the room above) but that can happen. We all enjoyed the evening meal (the service there was great) and breakfast. What was disappointing was the service at breakfast and the bar, we just felt we were a nuisance rather than they were pleased to have us there. It wouldn’t totally put me off from booking again, but the service means I would look at the alternatives, where my initial impression was that we would definitely return.

The staff are amazing, ssooo friendly! Fantastic atmosphere and great food as well!!!!! Great Halloween effort!!!!! A+++++

Estuve aquí un promedio de 5 veces al año durante los últimos 3 años, normalmente no puedo criticar el lugar, pero hoy en día no fue nada bueno, el pollo y la comida con verduras al vapor de mi hijo vino solo con pollo y zanahorias. ! ! Sin papas ni judías verdes.

Comida decente con especiales interesantes y una buena selección de vinos.

Esta fue la peor comida que he tenido en mucho tiempo. Uno de mis hijos tenía espaguetis a la boloñesa que consistía en picar espaguetis, definitivamente no es una salsa boloñesa para ser visto. Mi otro hijo tenía hamburguesa y papas fritas, que era una hamburguesa de carne de res picada muy seca y sin sabor en un bollo seco. Mis hijos comen verduras y realmente no cuesta nada agregarlos a una comida para niños, así que me sorprendió mucho que no hubiera nada más con la hamburguesa y papas fritas. Mis maridos y mi comida estaba sin sabor y hecha. Probablemente no he tenido una comida tan mala desde los años 80. Me quedé muy sorprendido y no volveremos.

El pub estaba ocupado y había un buen ambiente. Nos saludaron y nos llevaron a nuestra mesa en un lado de la habitación, que era bueno, ya que teníamos nuestro propio espacio.

The station in is 1st class alround for food and service.we had a smashing meal and the service was great.

Party of 5 went for lunch , four of us had the £10.50 two course lunch I had apple cider and onion soup it , was like a bowl of boiled onions in a stock cube , tasteless, my sister had the creamy garlic mushrooms with a burnt ciabatta bread so hard it was inedible , we did mention it to the waitress ,but an alternative was not offered , for main course two of us had the blond witch steak and ale pie which was dry and tasteless , the pastry was so hard we couldn’t eat it I think it had been warmed up and the meat was hard on the edges , my friends both had the fish and chips , the batter was terrible , as were the chips , the best part was the mushy peas , we thought the fat/oil was dirty and needed changing , my mum had the pork and stuffing ciabatta which was so hard she couldn’t eat it , the standard overall was very poor , service was slow but the waitress was very pleasant , so disappointed with the whole meal , very poor quality couldn’t wait to leave , shame as we have been a few times before and it has been good ,wouldn’t go again .

Has a new menu and is just awful, only ordered a few bits, half was cold, pizza is on cheap ready made base, things missing, really disappointing, has gone down hill. Used to go regularly, will not be going again...avoid.

Wonderful little pub, great beer garden for kids. Selection of ales, quality food. Intend to try Sunday lunch.

This is the second time we've stayed at the Station Inn and it was just as nice as it was a couple years ago. The rooms are big, the breakfast is lovely and the added fun of seeing the Alpacas and playing mini-golf before bed was well worth it. We'll definitely be back next time we need a stop over in the lakes.

Perhaps Lake District is not a good option if you like to colour your trip with good (at least decent) food. Perhaps this is good for Lake District, otherwise I don't know what to make of these reviews. Food here is so bad, how hard it can be to cook chips?

Stopped locally overnight and walked to The Station Inn.

booed 2x evening meals for 10 people. food was good but have to say for me, the puddings were a let down. service good though and would have no problem reccommending to others and indeed eating there again.

This is a great family pub with a big dining area. They also have a very good play area outside for children. Food is excellent local British food.

Meal was ok. Went as a family of 10. Was discusted they said Gravy was an ‘extra’ on a roast dinner?! ..didn’t fork out another £3.50 just ate it without. Was a frozen food type of meal.

Lovely Pub at the foot of a hill and close to Oxenholme train station.I recommend Blond Witch Steak & Ale Pie washed down with a few pints of the same. Outstanding Food

Had 2 meals at this restaurant. Both experiences were excellent. Delicious food; brilliant service and very friendly atmosphere.

What can I say ? Exemplary service and Divine cuisine .I had the bbq hunter chicken with various side dishes that came with it the chips were lovely and fluffy inside and the chicken was cooked to perfection. It had traditional decour and had a great cosy homely atmosphere.Would highly reccommend this restaurant

Popped in to have a quick supper before my daughter took the train. Friendly bar staff. Food arrived freshly cooked, beautifully presented. Recommend the coleslaw and honey dressing on the salad. Chips were chunky and very tasty. Excellent choice of drinks - both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, including the local Kendal Mint Cake Liqueur. Definitely would return here.

We called in at this pub by chance just looking for somewhere to have lunch before returning home. Lovely little country pub with a real log burner. We ate from the 2 courses for £10.50 that they serve at lunchtime. Everything was homemade and absolutely delicious and the service from all the staff was excellent. Spot on.

This is a popular eatery, which attracts good businessthroughout the week, even though it is a little out of the way.Sited a short stretch uphill from Oxenholme Railway Station, this establishment offers lunch and evening meals all week. It is quitespacious inside with a sizable Restaurant area.The Bar offers 3 lines of well-kept hand-pumped bitter, and a full range of other alcoholic beverages, including quite passable wine by theglass.The menu is Up-market Pub Grub, with a good variety of dishes, from starters to mains, with desserts to finish. There is also a Specials Boardson offer.Service was timely, friendly and efficient, with our food orders delivered hot to the table. Portions are quite generous and everything we triedon the 3 days we dined here was tasty, well cooked and attractively presented.Last orders for food in the evening is 2100Hrs. The Bar Area is Dog Friendly. As for value, it is not budget food, but the price is reflected inthe quality of fare. There is a 2-course lunch offer available.Altogether it can be recommended, even if you need to travel to sample it.Ample Car parking is provided to the side of the Inn. We had pre-arranged a table for 3 early on a Sunday evening. Went to the bar area to let them know we had arrived and was totally ignored for some time, despite the area not being too busy. Shown to our table in the restaurant, sadly there was food all over the floor not cleaned up from previous users, nice atmosphere and well decorated. Order taken fairly quickly but then had to wait 2 hours before our food arrived by which time we had gone beyond feeling hungry. Food however was warm, well presented and reasonably priced. No apology for delay or any update in between.We decided not to have sweets having watched the table next to us have their sweets served over such a long period of time the first person had finished before the last person had started.Disappointing visit and didn't go backMore customer care needed as there were plenty of staff who just appeared to walking around doing nothing

We had a shocked reaction to the refusal of the restaurant chef who would not serve the 'three sausages' choice of meal unless you took exactly the three on the menu. No swapping or dropping the Stilton sausage as our family member does not like cheese to one of the others. Why? Are they frozen and he has an OCD problem!!! I suggest if you wish to leave your customers feeling they have had a pleasant meal of their choosing within reason. Then a bit of flexibility would be a good idea.

Only pub in the village , over priced, lovely location but wouldn't recommend purely because its so expensive

Friendly staff in a nice restaurant and bar. We had 2 pints of lager, 2 hot sandwiches and a side of coleslaw and onion rings. Didn't really need the side dishes as the sandwiches came with a salad and fries so over-ordered really. Table service which is good in a pub. One dessert between us and a bill for £34. Cant complain.

Recently visited the station with family - 7 altogether, the food was great, with a wide selection to choose from the regular menu plus the specials. Will definitely be returning, the only issue was a dispute regarding 2 drinks that apparently were not put on the bill, but we paid for them separately at the bar - hence the 4*, the issue was soon resolved when staff were informed, and we were not questioned further.

Very disappointed as it is one of our local eating establishments and would use it more often if we had had a better experience. My son went to the bar to let them know we had arrived after booking a table, the woman just stared at him then quite abruptly said "name" then told us where our table was. I then asked if we should go to the bar for drink or if we could order at the table, she said you can do either and walked off. After waiting a considerable amount of time no one came to take an order so we went to the bar for our drinks. There were 7 people in our party and ordered a selection of dishes. My lasagne had hardly any meat in it, nearly all pasta and cheese, the surf and turf consisted of a nice steak topped with 5 very small prawns a tomato,2 onion rings and chips no veg or salad. No one asked us if we like any thing else to drink throughout the evening and later when the waitress asked if every thing was ok, I told her and showed her the lasagne had very little meat in it, she apologised and asked if I would like another one. I didn't fancy another of the same, but wasn't offered anything else and no deduction was made from the bill. The bill was paid and some time later as we were ready to leave, a waitress came and asked us if we would like dessert! One thing I would say is that in most cases you did get quite a large plateful and ok if you go for quantity, not quality or good service!!

While we staying outside the center we have not much option, either we drove to the center or just walk 2 minutes from where we stay. The Station Inn is a hotel, bar and restaurant and right next door to our guesthouse.We came around 7pm and we don't know that they have two entrance - one at the back and frontside. We came-in at the backside we thought was the main entrance as where the parkings are. When we came inside it was fully occupied. So we asked one of the girls who serves around if they have table for us, she went look around, and while we waited in the pub between those drunkards lol :-). She came back and said to us if we don't mind seating in the pub tables, well it was fine for us as long we can eatWe got the menu card and she also showed us the suggestions on the board. There were enough choices of local food. For me I order Ploughmans pork- a local food in the area, so I'm very curious, Didier had a Steak Pie. As it was very busy takes a while before our food served, but inside they have free wifiWhen the food came I'm surprised of the serving that is big. My order is complete new to me - serves in a cutting board and it consist of: two different slice of cheese, two slice of cold ham, two pie filled with pate, two slice of bread, a small bowl of salad with coleslaw on top, three different small bowls of sauce- chutney, pickles, onion. Is really tasty, the cheese were so goodFor a total price of 32,50 pound with guiness drinks is that an affordable price for a decent meal. The service is good, those girls they're doing their best to serve quickly as they can, but the food is made in the kitchen, they must need extra helped in the kitchen when is very busy

on a quiet mid week evening one was hoping for better!! A starter of GARLIC mushrooms served with a very bland luke warm sauce MINUS any shred of garlic.A main course of scampi and chunky chips , the chips were hard ( probably from over cooking them) and the scampi rubbery. The accompanying salad had clearly been made a while as the coleslaw was congealed -once again a advertised ingredient was missing - home made tarter sauce. whilst both concerns was addressed the waitress was surly and could not bring herself to smile !!

Called in for lunch , a large party was in but not a problem. I ordered a ploughmans , my husband gammon & egg with chips & peas. Served quite quickly, my ploughmans was delicious a proper plateful . A couple of gripes with my husbands the chips were like quarter potatoes not very tasteful, his egg was hard . He did say the gammon was tasty. Friendly staff except the lady behind the bar when he went to pay , to busy talking to another lady to be polite .

We booked at the last minuet, they found us a table for four on Easter Sunday which was very good , the place was full the waitress was very good and helpful. The food was very good, burger and chips, fish and chips and pie and chips, my 3 year old granddaughter had sausage and fries. My only criticisms is the chunky chips were more like quartered potatoes,much to thick it spoiled it for me, and maybe thinner sausage for children , but the food was tasty, I must say there were other ways for the potatoes to be cooked but that was our choice. We would go back.

Went for Sunday lunch and had turkey as they did not offer chicken, food was okay and cooked just right but not enough for the price. Was expecting so much more from the main meal. Pudding was absolutely spot on, sticky toffee pudding with ice cream defiantly filled me up. I would recommend.

Visited today with my wife, the food took a very long time to arrive and my order was mixed up. However the girl waiting the table was very polite and professional and sorted the issue quickly.

I had looked at the menu on line prior to visiting and there are several different items and some prices that are different to the actual menu available. There is actually a lot more on offer, including gluten free items, and there are daily specials on the blackboard.When we visited there seemed to be a large group spread over several tables and, despite ordering our food whilst they were still eating their main courses, it seemed the kitchen held off on starting our order before the large group had their luminous pink cheesecake and teas & coffees served. It was still some time after their desert was served before our meals actually arrived. The food was all well presented, piping hot and the service was friendly. The only slight complaint is that the kids chicken goujons say breaded goujons but they, unfortunately, arrived battered. This makes a huge difference to an incredibly fussy child but everyone else was perfectly happy and well fed.Nice variety on the menu, good value, well presented, nice place.

Whilst visiting family in Kendal we decided to have a meal here on a Saturday eve. We have eaten here many times before but this time it was not up to standard. My mother in law had the catch of the day battered hadock with chips although she liked the fish the chips were not so good some bad some not even cut or pealed properly and all over cooked, Wife had beef steak in red wine with mushroom and garlic mash the meat was dry and over cooked despite being in a gravy the garlic mash seemed to be mash with raw garlic added just before serving (not nice) I had the pan fried Salmon with dill sauce and sweet potato fries. The salmon was over cooked the dill sauce bland however the sweet potato fries where good, service was average but they seemed understaffed so that may be the reason. Total bill was £60.00 for the 3 main courses two glasses of red wine and two pints of larger shandys must say we have had far better elsewere for less

Had a meal here with friends & chose the Festive menu. Sorry to say that the soup (vegetable and red lentil) was over salted and over seasoned, I left most of it. The main course of turkey and trimmings was hot with a good portion of meat and a selection of vegetables and was tasty. The sticky toffee pudding came with a butterscotch sauce, which was the best part about it, I found the pudding itself to be much more stodgy than is usual but it was a generous portion and the sauce helped.Throughout the meal the staff were very attentive.

I love local to this pub. It's average food,no pool table or darts board. Me and my girlfriend went for dinner one Sunday, there wasn't a lot of people in and yet we waited just over an hour for food,wouldn't of minded but the quality of food was poor. Wouldn't go again,would rather go to the punch bowl.

Once again a fabulous meal with family for my daughters 30th birthday, all food was excellent and staff couldn't do enough for us,Will definitely be going to The Station Inn again.

This was better than I expected , rooms well furnished with private bathroom and tv - the food choice was great and delicious . They look after you and the pub is quiet enough to enjoy a relaxing evening

Nice place inside but the menu is a bit hit and miss. The mushroom dish we had to start looked great, well presented, a bit bland but not bad. However my wife was served a few lettuce leaves with some prawn skewers thrown on top. The prawns weren't hot and they weren't cold, but they were definitely rubbery as hell. It was pretty much inedible. Naturally I wasn't prepared to pay £6 for that but to their credit they gave me no trouble when I asked them to take the item off the bill.Our main courses were better to be fair but I don't think we'd go back to be honest, the staff weren't especially friendly and the food was average at best.

We had heard good reviews of this place.We were left sadly disappointed...The only way i can describe the feeling we were left with was that there were 2 chefs that had designed the menu and 2 different chefs cooked it...My wife and friend had the mushroom dish which came on a grey slate with a nice sauce, crusty seasoned bread and a nice leaf salad.I got a small plate with 5 chipolatas and a bland red onion jam. Very weird.But the real dampener was my friends prawn skewers, warm prawns on a stick and a little bowl of seafood sauce and a big lettuce leaf that was not fresh and a little wilted.The mains were "O.K";;. good portion and tasty scampi and the chips were top draw but thw problem came when trying to eat it... a basket of scampi. Bowl of chips. Little flat plate of salad and slaw. They'd put so much into making it look nice they had forgotten about how to actially eat it. If it had all just bern served on the big wooden board that would have been top drawer.The burger and Fish&Chips were again "O.K". The mushy peas were as good as the chips.Its a shame as it is just obviously a little confused, perhaps in transition between country pub and gastropub?I think perhaps shrinking the menu and trying to bring some heart would be a good move.Shame as the atmosphere and surroundings were nice.

Upon entering this establishment we found the atmosphere to be extremely icy. We were made to feel that we had invaded this space and were a hindrance to the rude and inexperienced staff who were unfortunate enough to be employed there.Upon asking if we were to order at the bar we were coldly pointed in the direction of a greasy table with chewing gum remnants on the underside.Our order of chicken korma skewers with salad was an insult to our palates. The chicken was well described as unseasoned, tough, gristly,welded to the skewer and of minutiae portions. The accompanying salad was completely lacking in any vestige of imagination, minus any garnish or seasoning, and sadly wanting for ingredients..ie. Unexciting leaves thrown on the plate.The order of Cumberland Sausage was ordered with some expectation from us of better to come. However, this dish required a steak knife to dissect the once frozen rope-like substance in front of us. The watery gravy slid off the sausage into a sad pool to the edge of the cold plate.The mash and broccoli floret was very good. The main event ...hugely disappointing

Dog friendly pub having a good standard menu and interesting daily specials. The bar is cosy and busy with a good atmosphere. Friendly staff serving well presented, tasty food. Good value for money.

Very nice food and at a good price will definitely b going back. Sunday lunch is also very good bin a few times and it get better and better on bad thing was the wasn't enough waiting on staff on but she cope very well and we didn't mind waiting for good food.

We have been visiting the Station Inn, when in South Lakes for our annual visit, for two years now.Always found it good value.Visited as a family group of six this evening.Although not exactly busy, the staff were struggling to cope, they were pleasant enough though.The meals were adequate, however the chunky chips were just that, too chunky.Decent value, good selection of beers.However the menus were tired (shabby really) and unenspiring, the whole place could do with a spruce up.All that being said, the experience was average.

We stopped here for lunch whilst on holiday in the area, and were glad we did. Very friendly staff, good home-cooked food (the pastry for the home - made pies just melts in the mouth!) and a large outdoor seating area together with a separate secure play area for children makes this a great stop- off point, whatever age you are .

We visited as a family on a sunny evening. Our youngest enjoyed the excellent play area whilst we enjoyed the sunshine. We all enjoyed our meals, we visited on steak night, so had delicious sirloin steak with chunky chips, homemade onion rings, mushroom, tomatoes and it was wonderful. Our eldest had a half pound burger and our youngest had a burger from the children's menu. The children's menu was particularly good value with good choices and the burger was a good sized meal. All the meals were excellent quality.

Located on the corner of Hayclose Lane and B6254 in Oxenholm which is a bit south and not actually in the heart of Kendal. We stayed for two nights at Station Inn. Our room was on the ground floor which made it easy with cases.It was a very spacious room, not the most modern, but clean; the Inn is old. It had all facilities such as kettle, tea, etc. and TV, hairdryer. The bathroom had a shower over the bath. The rooms were at the back of the pub. Meals were excellent and very generous. We paid 11.25 BGP for lasagne and 16.95 for rump steak which was very tender. All came with veg. I cannot speak more highly of them.The breakfast was the same. Full English and wonderful service from the staff. Everything is cooked to order - as per the board - so that may account for some people finding it "slow" but we personally did not have a problem with it. Price was expensive for only a double room. 92BGP per night. Parking was at the back of the buildings and free. It is quite a drive to Ambleside if one is going to Beatrix Potter world.

This is a friendly real ale pub that serves great food in a very comfortable dining room.Apart from the printed menu there was a special board with quite a few interesting choices.

We went as a family on a Sunday lunch, the service was terrible and whilst my food was fine others in our party did not have such a good meal. The waitresses were not on the ball at all and we had to wait nearly 2 hours for our main course.

Excellent food and a real fire on cold days.Would recommended this pub [with meal] after walk along the Helm on the opposite to the road.Outside play area for the young at heart

Where do you begin when world class service, food and ambience falls at your feet?Whilst all the rooms have comfortable beds (waking up feels like leaving a relationship that was never meant to end) you will always envy the occupant of room Kentmere and the lucky occupant of the single bed adjacent the North West window. No bed in my living memory has cared for me so well during my journey through the slumber between day and night. Service can only be best described as centre of excellence for customer service. The team at Station Inn are ever mindful of those visited before and forever using the comments left behind to better the experiences of those to come. Food… I could go on but I won’t… simply put. Fish and chips undeniably best in class, Sliders, for those not familiar with more than you can eat platter of your finest burgers ….. Just too much… and too tasty to stop when you know you’re done. Burgers… well I dare you have it all. I was defeated by volume but utterly enjoyed the all on everything challenge. Lastly for today and most certainly not my last stay here. The surf and turf….. What can I say? Having travelled the world and met many menus along the way I was amazed beyond belief the veritable feast that was presented in this simple dish and I look forward to trying the remaining menu items yet to be discovered. Truly a world class all round experience not to be missed!

We ate here as a family some weeks ago, food was average, meat fatty but I enjoyed mine, the female member of staff, didn't care, just plonked it down and walked off, we had to ask her for sauce, and even vegetables which she wasn't bothered about bringing, shame as the food is nice, if you had better managed staff it would do better

Visited this pub on two consecutive evenings, the first was not bad, the food was ok butthe service was a little cold. The second evening was a Saturday and we thought it would be packed but not busy at all, this should have told us something !Different staff on duty, positively icy service, food arrived quickly but was luke warm when we told the waitress she really wasn't bothered and no action was takenso we paid and left. This is sad as it could be a fantastic pub.

We normally stay just up the road and we've nipped in for drinks here quite a few times however have never eaten in the pub. We decided we'd try the burgers and wow are we glad we did! They were hands down the best burgers I have ever had, and I'm a total burger lover, the meat was beautiful and full of flavour so serious compliments to the chief. I have to say we asked the bar staff numerous times to compliment the kitchen however I'm unsure if that happened due to their vague look and sarcastic retort so if you're reading this, keep up the good work! Its a shame that the bar staff didn't mirror the quite outstanding food but hey, who cares? we did still leave happy!

Visited Station Inn on Tuesday. Two staff on duty Hannah and Kim.Two excellent bar staff, pleasant, and efficient with a sense of humour. No waiting to be served, they were alert and aware of what was going on and willing to engage with customers. A class act!!

A little more attention to quality instead of quantity, with service being very basic with staff not taking too much trouble when taking your order. Sadly Never again.

The food in here is excellent. However, the friendliness of the staff is a bit hit and miss. Still definitely worth a visit though.

Left waiting at the bar, no acknowledgment, no warm feeling of welcoming from any staff. Food ok, had a burger did come with some tasteless sauce. Food came with wrong chips , which isn't an issue was changed quickly enough, but to be bluntly told no you ordered those chips no need. Positives good selection of beers , large and spacious bar area. That's where I struggle. It's a shame I work in hospitality I hate giving poor reviews. Though the entire time I just didn't feel like we where wanted. Which in turn put us off our food, had the atmosphere been better I bet we would of all enjoyed the food more. Would I return no.

We visited the station today for a family meal which we had booked in advance,the service was very slow even though it wasn't very busy .The waitresses were sullen and most looked as if they would rather be anywhere but where they were.We found them to be rather rude and abrupt when we asked them about the food,and when we ordered coffees they were put at the end of the table for us to pass down instead of put n front of the people who ordered them. The only way we'd visit again is if the staff were retrained in how to serve people and also taught how to smile.

I always head to the Station Inn when visiting family and relatives who live in and around the Kendal area.The food is always good value, hot and generously portioned.Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is always good.There is a purpose built restaurant extension for more formal dining but I usually prefer to eat at one of the bar tables which is never an issue.It has become something of a tradition that my wife and I visit the Station Inn when we go to Cumbria - about three times a year - and I don't see any reason to change or try anywhere else.

Very nice place to eat. Friendly staff, good service. Food was good but we ordered a steak which was too fatty. We would visit again but ask for a better steak or order something different.

We booked as a last minute booking and wow. The food was beautiful & tasty. The staff were very friendly & made your visit fabulous. Highly recommended and will be visiting again.

Well worth a visit , big carpark, good beer even though a bit pricey , food very nice, all in all a typical country pub

On initial appearances a fairly standard Lakeland pub, so was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food - I ate a perfectly steamed piece of salmon on some very good dauphinoise potatoes. A vegetarian chilli and ham, egg and chips also got the thumbs up from our group.Decor ranges from a smart conservatory to a modern, cosy pub area with a fire to a jaded back bar area, so I would guess this is a place in the throes of being upgraded. It is great place to go with kids: 1. Not everything on the kids menu is deep fried and the steamed chicken with mash my toddler had disappeared quickly. 2. There is a great play area with wooden climbing frames in the outside area; and 3. There are hens and llamas walking aroundA great find and a good spot if getting on or off a train at Oxenholme, the mainline station for the Lakes which is just down the hill from the pub.

Despite the reserved notices on tables, places are found for customers. Excellent selection of fresh dishes. Quick service and polite staff. Some innovative dishes, well presented. Sometimes feels crowded.
