The Tavern At Hale in South Lakeland

Held and moved our original booking with the same rates as I couldn't go in May due to health reasons but worth the wait. A truly beautiful place to stay. The room was clean and everything we needed in it, the bathroom was something you'd see in a mansion a hughe shower and an old fashioned Victorian bath tub. The bed was warm and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Id like to give a special mention to Brooke for her outstanding customer service, she's a credit to the company.

I was very reluctant to stay in a B&B but saw its good reviews and chose to stay at The Tavern. I never regretted my decision as the stay was terrific. The best part was the service, especially Sam. She was the best. She never made us feel that we were outsiders and helped us in every way possible way. She is a sweetheart. The rooms are quite good and the bathroom is modern. The breakfast was quite okay, as I am not a big fan of English breakfast. The location is very accessible and just a five minutes drive to the nearest town. Overall, it was a very nice stay and will definitely stay there again.

I visit during the week and find the staff pleasant. However, we are becoming frustrated with staff using the customer seating for their own items leaving an already small bar very restrictive for seating. Please allow customers to choose where they prefer to sit.

Great food and staff and a lovely atmosphere highly recommend

Cleary been refurbished recently..but odd, sterile vibe. Staff full of superficial friendliness but offering poor service at the same time. 1 craft beer....everything else from the big brands. Very average food....but it had been heated up very well. Came here because it was close to our Airbnb. Wish we hadn't.

The staff are very welcoming, very well managed, and the perfect combination and will fulfil your requirements. Breakfast is served at 9 as I and my colleague were working and had to be on site at 8 am Upon there half they was more than happy to accommodate our breakfast by leaving us a contenetal pack up And as we were working close by, we also had full cooked breakfast made and delivered by one off the staff Absolutely wonderful staff really made my stay comfortable and relaxing

Second trip to the restaurant. First time was a 5* experience with a warm welcome, attentive service, and a really good food experience. This time the staff were friendly but we had to ask for desserts after a long wait. The mains were pretty good despite a little slip with one of the mains (took the wrong one out of the oven) but that was replaced promptly. The onion rings came as an afterthought and were huge pieces of onion with most of the batter missing. The savoury dishes are generally really good but the desserts do not match the price and do not have a home made vibe. Good quality. Only one order of profiteroles available and a couple of the mains dishes missing for others in the restaurant too. Will go back if in the area but not on a Monday night.

Go here! An absolute gem of a place in beautiful surroundings. The food is unbelievable, everything on the plate is fresh and the portions generous. Highly recommended.

I vacationed in the neighborhood with my husband for three days and we ate here every day. The food is VERY good and the service is SUPER friendly!!! A visit is ABSOLUTELY recommended!!

I dont normally leave reviews but I feel like I should! We called here for food on our way home from the lakes and it was absolutely gorgeous! The portion sizes are massive! The staff also were so nice! I think she was the Manager, I didn't get her name but she was so friendly and welcoming and even gave us some chicken curry to bring home for the girls, as they loved Grandma's dinner! Would 100% recommend. Thank you 🫶🏼

Booked the tavern for 1 night as we were picking up our puppy the following day and we were a long way from home..Greeted by the lovely Sam and her team on arrival .We were showed to our Rooms by sam who went through everything we needed to know .Rooms were very nice .Bed was comfortable and clean and a nice powerful shower and roll top bath to.Enjoyed a few drinks in the afternoon at the bar meeting and chatting to the locals and staff ,everyone was super friendly .We ate dinner in the restaurant and must say it was absolutely delicious (This was our 3rd visit to the lakes in 6 weeks ,by far the best meal at the tavern )Whole pub /restaurant tastefully decorated .We had full breakfast the next morning which again was perfect and served by a nice friendly chap.Would definitely look to stay again when we are in the area and highly recommend this place for either food/drinks or stay .Thankyou Sam and team (Pete and family )

Went in for a Sunday lunchtime. Great staff and service. Made us very welcome. Went for the fish goujons starter which had lovely home made tartar sauce. Beef Roast - great portion. Nicely cooked veg and excellent potatoes. Just let down a little by the beef being a bit over cooked for me.

Absolutely delicious meal and service was excellent. Front of house was rushed off her feet solo but owned the service she was that good. Friendly, attentive and knew the needs of the guests without being flummoxed. Food arrived in good time, fresh and a lovely atmosphere with guests staying over and families just visiting. Will be back. Ps play park handy if you have younger children too.

Welcoming staff, nice dog friendly accommodation, and good food.

We stayed overnight when attending the Heron theatre nearby. A light meal was served up quickly in the limited time available and was just what we needed, and the breakfast was excellent too. Our room was comfortable and well equipped, and the staff always welcoming and friendly.

Would like to thank Brooke and the staff for a lovely 2 night stay, room was lovely warm and clean. Family enjoyed the food. Service was amazing friendly and nothing was too much. It felt like a home from home since we was 600 miles from home. Many thanks and much appreciated to us. Keep up the good work x

Dinner was outstanding! Delicious food and superb choice with real attention to detail. We stayed the night and had booked the double room with the roll top bath, which was a real treat. Unfortunately the room was very cold and the staff member was unable to make the radiator work. We had to ask for an extra duvet to keep us warm.

What a good find, The Tavern was recommended to us and this place exceeded our expectations. We brought an elderly Aunt out for lunch who had just lost her husband. It was pouring down when we arrived. The landlady Sam, dashed out of the pub with an umbrella! How thoughtful, such a nice touch! Food was beautiful and we cleared our plates. Sam also showed us the rooms for staying over, very modern with everything you’d need. Also one room is dog friendly! I’d recommend this place and we will definitely return. A good place for a pit stop , quaint, food & drink are inexpensive. Friendly staff , carpark to the rear . Saw a few dogs inside so dog friendly too. We visited whilst on holiday at Morecambe so didn't stay over night

My partner and I booked to stay at The Tavern as a last-minute mini break to the lakes. The location is ideal, not a lot going on in the area but a close drive to more popular main towns and villages. It’s a great option when choosing somewhere to stay in the lakes as it is priced a lot more reasonably than most places, especially with it being the bank holiday weekend. We were greeted by a lovely member of staff, unfortunately we didn’t get her name, but she was so nice and helpful throughout our stay. The room was on the smaller side but cosy, modern, clean, comfortable, and tidy. We had breakfast included with our stay which was great value for money and offered a good variety. We also chose to eat here for both nights during our stay, which surpassed our expectations, it was fantastic. The only slight downside to our visit was the poor service from some of the waiting on staff and the noise in the rooms during the night and early morning. But other than that we would definitely stay again.

Bar manager was excellent, serving staff were feckless, clumsy and useless; borderine rude. Beer was as good as usual and the food was acceptable. Staff must be hard to fine but I'd suggest that you'd be better of without then to suffer such mediocrity

Fabulous food and service at the Tavern. Luckily the Restaurant Manager found room for 3 of us to eat on the Thursday before Easter. I couldn't decide what to order, but she recommended the chicken supreme special, which was absolutely fabulous. Probably the best meal I've had for some time. Well done to the Chef and staff.

Stayed at The Tavern for a couple of nights whilst visiting some friends in the Lakes. Rooms were loving and clean and tidy with plenty of space. Bathroom was very modern and a good shower. Breakfast was very good using very tasty local produce. The interior of the pub was great as well. Obviously, as an old coach house located on the A6 the traffic could be heard but the location made sure this wasn't an issue.

Superb food for all! Sunday roast was amazing and Thai green curry was authentic and delicious. Lots of locals eating there which is always a good sign.

Amazing experience,stayed 1 night enroute to Scotland and it was that good we left Scotland 1 night early for a return visit, Sam could not of been a better host, kind, friendly welcoming and treated our doggie her own.very clean comfy and the service and food were second to none, one of the best meals I've ever had.breakfast choice and quality was excellent.will definately return especially Ash.dog is sulking at leaving Sam .thank you so much

Best roast we had in a long time. Compliments to the chef who prepares the ever so crispy roast potatoes in the morning! Just gorgeous. Service was incredible, we stopped by with our Labrador for an early dinner and we felt like coming home! Luna had lots of cuddles and her own bit of roast all plated so she didn’t feel left out! Honestly, couldn’t recommend enough. 10/10 for both FOH & BOH. Thank you for looking after us. ❤️

Cant really say anything about the rooms. But we had one of the best Sunday Roasts ever here this last weekend. Wish we'd gine before now seeing as it's local to us. Returning from a shopping trip saw the Tavern and decided to drop in for a bite to eat. Never been here before but we were warmly greeted by Sam. The decor is amazing and the place is immaculate. Menu was good and the zero alcohol San Miguel ice cold from the pump was gorgeous. Sam who looked after us is an ideal hostess and a credit to the business. We will definitely return if only to see Sam!

Me and my partner stopped for a meal on our way back from IKEA today. The staff were excellent and really attentive. We had coffee when we first arrived and it was lovely coffee. And the only way to describe the food is amazing. I had fish and chips and my partner had the lamb. Both meals were cooked to perfection. One of the nicest meals we've had out in a long time. We will definitely be making a journey just to go there again. Thank you

We popped in for a drink, some lunch and a break before a family event elsewhere. They were welcoming, accommodating and kind. We were offered a room upstairs to get changed which was really appreciated; the rooms were lovely.

Lunch at the Tavern today. The air temperature indoors was cold, too cold to be comfortable and relaxing. The food was also on the cool side of warm. We asked for tea/coffee to end with (to warm us up). We were told that neither was available as the machine was broken!!! A kettle would have made a hot cup of tea!!! Very disappointed.

Really bad meal - food fried in oil that tasted old. Pate grey and tasteless. Brown salad. Expensive and staff were rude when politely complained. Avoid!

Our party of five enjoyed one of the best three course meals we'd had. We are definitely coming back.

Took a day trip out to silverdale cove, then a walk upto the fairy steps. Googled 'top rated places to eat near me and 'The Tavern at Hale' came up number 1 so we decided we'd try it out. Great place, nice decor, very friendly staff especially the lady that took our orders and chatted about our tattoos. I went for a smaller plate of pulled pork and cheese melt with cauliflower soup (& a pint of course). The Mrs had a tuna mayo sandwich and chips. The food was amazing and for what looks like a smallish plate of food i was stuffed ! The tuna mayo was packed with filling and the chips were nice and crispy. Highly recommend and will definitely be going back. 👌

We have just had a three night stay at this brilliant Hostelry. The food ie breakfast/ dinner was excellent. Our stay was a positive experience and we would like to highlight the superb service provided by Lauren, who from the initial welcome, went ‘out of her way’ to ensure our stay at this lovely Tavern was enjoyable. We will definitely be staying here again.

Brilliant pub for a night away.

A nice little pub right on the A6 between Carnforth and Milnthorpe. Can be very busy at times, but on this occasion it was quiet, clean, and easy to find seating. Service was ok, but not the chirpy talk you would expect to find in a pub. Kids had a nice play area outside which give the adults a bit of free time to chat. Plenty of poarking and a good over-flow parking for larger vehicles.

10 out of 10...what a gem of a pub/hotel..we had 2 nights there..the rooms were spotlessly clean,the TV takes some working out but had all channels and add ons..the food is very nice and plenty of it..Breakfast was superb.The barmaid/waitress/host Lauren is worth her weight in gold..nothing was to much trouble for her,she told us what was worth visiting in the area and made us feel really welcome.

Had a Sunday Roast, today, it was absolutely delicious , it was our first visit, thoroughly enjoyed it, Well worth a visit.

Stumbled upon The Tavern after not being able to find many places open on a Monday in the area. I'm glad we did though as the food was tasty and hearty, just what you need on a cold and rainy night. Very friendly and cosy, suitable to take children and dogs. Everyone is well looked after.

Only went here to deal with a patient for the ambulance service, so no idea about rooms, food or drink

Wir haben 2 Nächte auf der Durchreise hier verbracht. Zimmer Nr. 1 geht nach hinten raus, so dass der Verkehr von der Hauptstraße nicht stört. Das Frühstück war super. Der WC-Sitz war leider so locker, dass man sich kaum setzen konnte.

The staff are very friendly and their food is wonderful. I was slightly disappointed bt the noise from the road. The windows could be opened, but the noise from traffic was too loud. I thought it was too bad there wasn't a sitting area in the room, as it was big enough.
