I hope you’re not a fan of choice, because if there are four or more of you, they’ll force you to have the “taster” menu, which is actually just a subset of their menu and you need everyone to agree on what menu items you get. God forbid anybody have allergies or intolerances, because they will not be catered to by this, good thing there is a McDonalds near by. Their excuse for this is their “small kitchen” - if only tapas famously came out when ready so they could make full use of their space. The menu, when given the correct one, was still different on each card. The food, despite the small kitchen, arrived quickly. Too quickly for the table, turned into a game of Tetris very quickly. Mediocre is the only way to describe it. It’s fine.

Been waiting to go here for ages, and went with friends so 6 of us on a Saturday night at 8.30pm. Boy oh boy was it worth waiting for. Superb food and we took advantage of the sharing menu at £29 per head. Plenty of food, amazing flavours and a memorable meal had by all. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The beauty of this small but beautiful restaurant is the consistency of both the quality of food and service. Every time we go the food is excellent and service is exceptional. Highly recommend for a experience different from any other restaurant.

Food amazing, atmosphere amazing, service and explanation of menu good. Be clear if your a vegetarian as it confused them and they weren't sure what they could offer us at first from the set 7 course deal but this might just be an individual staff member.

This place is amazing! From it's industrial-chic bar area with counter seating to the Aladdin's cave secret dining room with flying Aztec carpets on the ceiling, it's a super cool place for an intimate dinner with someone special or cocktails and tapas with friends. The menu is fantastic; a wide but not overwhelming range of veg, fish and meat plates, which, as our waitress explained, are served in the order they appear on the menu. I found it really tough to choose because they all sounded exciting. The pace of service was perfect. We were never left waiting for the next dish to arrive, or with too many plates on the table. The waitress explained everything as she served it to us and the dishes themselves were out of this world. The aubergine was the best I've ever tasted in my life. The calamari in polenta was perfectly tender. The cocktail menu is equally excellent and hats off to the mixologist, he really knows what he's doing and could rival his peers in the big city bars. One thing that struck me was that none of the diners were on their phones! Everyone, including the staff, seemed to be engaged in the experience of being there, and there was a lovely buzz of conversation. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely be back. You know it's going to be good when the customers leaving basically force you inside to try the food. It did not disappoint! Really delicious tapas, excellent portion sizes and a really great bloody mary to boot. If i lived closer I would be in here all the time!

If you are ever in Ulverstone I highly recommend to have food in Lal’ Chrrasco. Book in advance. We had the Tapas Taste Menu. This way you can try so many things and come out with full stomach. The food tastes great! Very polite service. I highly recommend to try ‘El Fuego’ cocktail. I am not a massive fan of Tequila but this one tastes amazing!

Came here for a meal with my wife. Incredibly helpful staff, wonderful atmosphere and the food was incredible.

Poor value for money as most dishes are tiny even for tapas. For example the charcuterie board had a handful of super wafer thin cut of cured meats for £10. I've never seen salami sliced so thinly in my life. Some dishes like mackerel were very bland which is quite an achievement for such a flavourful fish. The calamari was good with great aioli but again tiny. The service was good. Spent £35 per person on food alone and didn't feel full. If the dishes had been uniformly tasty I wouldn't have minded so much but I left feeling I'd been fleeced. I won't be going back unfortunately.

£36 spent on a round of drinks. We ordered a Jack Daniels and Coke and we were seved diet coke. We asked for it to be changed and we were told by the bar man that a diet coke was ordered and that we would have to pay again. His word against ours but we are sure we ordered the right thing as my partner never has diet coke. Isn't the customer always right? End result is 6 people who won't be coming back.

Great little restaurant in Ulveston, it has a small bar on one side where you can enjoy pre meal drinks. The food was fantastic and is made up various tapas dishes. Great value and would gladly book again.

Been a couple of times with friends and both time, this place delivered. It delivered on service, quality, taste, ambience - the full package. This is a 'small plates' type eatery so every dish ordered comes as it's ready so there aren't really any courses. So you have to firstly be ok with that and also be ok with sharing as the dishes are primarily made to share. Every dish we had brought something new and exciting to the table combining seasonal and local tastes/ingredients with Mediterranean ones. It certainly made my tastebuds sing! Dishes I would highly recommend are the Pork belly with the meat so juicy and crackling perfectly crispy, the prawns with their garlicky and buttery sauce utilising the bread provided to soak it all up, the chorizo which was the perfect combination of salty savoury flavours with the sweet and sourness of the caramelised onions. There are soo many more dishes that I'd like to discuss but that would just make this review too lengthy. Just try as much as you can - you won't be disappointed!! Oh and they have an excellent drink's selection too, give one of the cocktails a go while you're at it.

We stopped by on a Friday night with no reservations. The staff were exceptionally helpful and were able to seat our party of 4. It was our first time there, and we loved it. The food was fabulous. Looking forward to going back!

Very atmospheric, beautiful food. Tapas came gradually so not overfaced. Every course was delicious and i mean delicious. Well priced, quality food in lovely surroundings.

We visited while holidaying in the area and had a really tasty meal here. They were very accommodating of our 3 year old and all the food we ordered was delicious. We also had 2 of their non alcoholic cocktails which were very tasty and inventive too. We had the bread and dip board which had 3 very tasty dips and some oil and vinegar, olives (served warm which is something I've never had before and were extremely tasty), falafel which were served on a bed of pickled vegetables and were delicious, pulled pork with mojo rojo - absolutely gorgeous, wrinkled potatoes with garlic sour cream (divine) and chorizo with red onion which was melt in the mouth. All the staff were lovely and very helpful. My only constructive feedback would be that the menu is very limiting for vegetarians. I am not vegetarian though prefer to not eat meat but my parents are vegetarian and I would not bring them here as their options are very limited, especially as my mum is unable to eat chillies (and at least 1 of the 3 vegetarian options had chillies in it). I did ask whether the vegetarian offering was ever expanded on and was told that they've never had a problem with vegetarians but I suspect that's more because vegetarians choose not to eat there having seen the sample menu rather than anything else. It's unfortunate as it would be very easy to add a few vegetarian options (a cheese board in place of charcuterie for instance, a good old Spanish tortilla and some grilled vegetables etc.) and I think it would make it easier for people who are vegetarian or have vegetarians in their party to choose to eat here.

The best tapas restaurant I have been to. If you live or are visiting Ulverston in Cumbria I highly recommend that you visit this restaurant.it serves really delicious food.

Amazing dining experience, I come to Ulverston for my birthday every year and come here without fail each time. Highly recommend, and when visiting enter with an open mind and try each meal in the taster menu.

Arguably the best restaurant in town as far as quality goes. If you're after a tapas style evening there is no where better. Cocktails are stunning also. Better book in advance though!

Popular smallish tapas type restaurant with pleasant staff and good food.

From the breads and spectacular dips to the lamb meatballs everything we ate here was wonderful. The food was outstanding, so flavourful, and presented beautifully by the knowledgeable and lovely waitstaff. Absolutely without fault. If your first-time visitors from London could come back every Saturday evening, we would!

Sunday lunch isn't on every week, but when they do it, its done with their usual style and panache. Superb beef and vegetables that are prepared in a fashion that makes you question just how good can the humble carrot taste because they take it to a different level. Can't wait for our next visit!

Best food we've had in ages! We ordered 7 dishes off the tapas menu as recommended by the staff as the perfect amount for 2 guests to share, we loved everything and was just the right amount of food. We cleared every dish, so much flavour and beautifully prepared! So glad we found this place and will definitely come back next time we are up this way!

Great food, but used to buying tapas in Spain, also I Liverpool in Luna, so they are excellent but expensive in L'al Churasco

One of our must visit restaurants in Ulvaston the food is always great and it's the perfect way to end the weekend. For some reason we've never tried their cocktails before. We tried them last night and they are genuinely some of the best cocktails we have ever had.

Beautiful restaurant serving the best seasonal tapas dishes you'll taste - very authentic and always have great cocktails on their specials board too! Book ahead to avoid disappointment as it is smaller premises and very very popular.

This is a really nice restaurant, serving high quality food. Probably the best calamari I’ve ever had.

Every option on the menu was excellent and the food was amazing! The place is great for parties of 4 or more as they do an option where they give you a selection of 7 random dishes making it great for trying new food (you can request a dish from the menu as one of the 7).

Nice Tapas place towards the centre of Ulverston. Nice decor with space enough for a few tables at the moment. We booked ahead as we knew it might've been busy. Food there was very tasty and arrived in a good amount of time. We were told in what order food would arrive to make sure we didn't get confused by what came out when. Good range of vegetarian food, along with seafood and meat. Really liked the place and the food but on the expensive side of a meal, £75 for 3 adults, one less dish than recommended and only a couple of beers.

Exceeded all our expectations. Superb service with each wonderful dish presented and explained. Try the Rioja :)

I eat low carb to keep my diabetes in remission. Tapas is always a winner. After reading all the brilliant reviews we booked l'al Churrasco. We were not disappointed. Greeted with a warm welcome. Shown straight to our table. The restaurant is very atmospheric. Really love the vibe. Candles lit on each table. I especially liked the ceiling decor. All adding to the wonderful ambiance. Our waiter was friendly, informative, talking us through each dish, and very efficient too. We ordered 7 dishes to share. Each one tantalising our taste buds. Sublime. All were amazing but our ultimate favourite was the belly pork with crunchy, crispy crackling. They didn't rush us. Just one tapas at a time giving us enough time to savour every course. We went for the rioja red wine to accompany the food. Great choice. And my husband finished off with one of their speciality cocktails. One of our best tapas experiences and highly recommended.

Reminds me of home, Portugal. Lovely food and even better cocktails, went last night for a few drinks and some nibbles, couldn't be better. Staff are lovely, great atmosphere! Can't wait to be back. Obrigado:) Ah and best coffee in England!

L’als is always a firm favourite, I love tapas and I love the dishes they have to offer but they also do a BANGING roast dinner! Great value and super yummy!

Best restaurant within Barrow to Ulverston, undebatable!

I have reviewed this place before, but it has been a while.... so this is my honest opinion of the current menu. The food was sublime, literally amazing. I am not easy to please, work in the industry, have eaten in some spectacular places around the world and the food here was perfect, delightful, interesting, the best bits are the garnishes and sides that enhance everything perfectly ... balanced mouthfuls of deliciousness. Drinks were fantastic, knowledgable friendly respectful staff. Ulverston is so lucky to have this place, quite frankly my favourite place to eat out.

I've waited for ages to eat here, great reviews etc, im now down £100, started great, dipping bread etc, then the the main course venison stew came out luke warm along with the luke warm sprouts, .... sorry but pants!! then a block of potato that was served from the fridge...Cold and i mean cold, the refreshed potato was then served with the cheese board, the cheese board .... the cheese boards butter was that hard the crackers exploded.... what's going on Harry, have you took your foot of the gas as that was poor, if i served that in my restraunts my boss would explode... im so sorry as we looked forward to this for so long, and that was a celebration meal, your staff only seemed half bothered, and if the Chef takes half an hour to re heat his cock up and serves it with his cheese board, what else do you want me to say.. as a chef that's very disappointing... Thanks im down a £100 and was treating my partner.

Big takeaway double-header this weekend “L’al in a Bun” on Saturday with a fantastic King Prawn and Avacado bun and a Confit Pork Belly bun. Both amazing, but blown out of the water by the Honey & Harissa Wings! Followed it up with a last minute Sunday Roast. We had the unbeatable and favourite Pork Belly, and a juicy slab of Brisket. Great staff, great menu, great ingredients, did I say great staff? Doing a real job this year guys, but can’t wait to get back in there and enjoy that atmosphere again!

Have always loved Lal Churrasco, their pork belly and halloumi is legendary in Cumbria! Just had the Sunday roast takeaway and it was sublime. Huge portions of unbelievably tasty food and great value. Lal seeing us through lockdown 2.0 🙏🙏

Utterly AMAZING - I’m not quite sure there is a good enough word that can be used to describe lals, everything about it is just amazing, the food (exceptional) the cocktails and the service! The best place around, Even through this crazy time they have absolutely pulled it out of the bag with unbelievably good take out food, you won’t get takeaway like it else where, thank you lals for providing us with taste sensations in a drab and dreary time to enjoy at home with easy ordering, and completely covid safe collection!

Placed our order 3 hours early, drove 16 miles to collect. Paid £64. Once home one of the three main courses was missing causing huge rows at home. Completely ruined our meal. Wont use again.

We had a takeaway, it was the best food I have ever tasted. My 10 year old loved it too. There was something for everyone on the menu and a lot gluten free. We will definitely be back.

Me sorprendió la delicia de cada plato y creo que las tapas del futuro tendrán dificultades para superarlo. Ojalá viviera más cerca para poder disfrutar de la experiencia más a menudo. ¡Recuerdos duraderos de comida fabulosa para morirse!

¡Un poco decepcionado! Fuimos con amigos que no habíamos visto por un tiempo, pero encontramos la música tan fuerte que no podíamos oírnos hablar. Las porciones de cada tapa eran muy pequeñas y caras. Ciertamente no es una buena relación calidad-precio. La noche anterior fuimos a Manor House de primera calidad, pero la comida aquí resultó ser más cara.

Si usted y su grupo están planeando una gran noche de fiesta, depende de usted asegurarse de haberlo planeado correctamente, ya que deberá desocupar su mesa después de 90 minutos / 2 horas. El personal usó mascarillas y desinfectante de manos disponible en todas partes.La comida: como se mencionó, es la primera vez que volvemos a L'al desde que comenzaron a reintroducir lentamente su menú y fue increíble poder probar algunos sabores nuevos nuevamente. Soy vegetariano e intolerante a la lactosa, pero nunca me hacen sentir como un "cliente quisquilloso" ya que hay muchas cosas para comer.Teníamos panes planos con salsas, remolacha, zanahorias tradicionales, patatas; El marido también tenía panceta de cerdo y lubina. Cada plato fue perfecto.Personal: Sarah, Lucie y Will nos cuidaron anoche; son brillantes, saben exactamente de qué están hablando y pueden responder cualquier pregunta que tenga sobre el menú o la enorme lista de bebidas.Anoche fue genial para nosotros, ya que es la primera vez desde que comenzó el encierro que ambos sentimos que estábamos disfrutando de una comida normal y relajada. Food is exceptional, really great service and a cute atmosphere. We go every time we're back in the area. Pork Belly is the absolute winner, also the beetroot salad and the best haloumi I've had anywhere.

(p. s esta es la única foto que recordamos tomar ya que estábamos muy emocionados de disfrutar de nuestra magnífica comida)

¡Comida increíble! personal fabuloso! ¡Gran noche!La comida salió muy rápido, lo que significaba que podíamos disfrutar de nuestra noche antes del toque de queda. Hay una deliciosa selección de bebidas para acompañar todos los deliciosos platos. Todos y cada uno de los platos son sabrosos y muy diferentes y nada que puedas conseguir en ningún otro lugar. El personal era muy amable y divertido y se aseguró de que tuviéramos una gran noche.

Vamos con bastante regularidad a este restaurante y siempre lo disfrutamos, ¡pero nuestra última visita fue la mejor hasta ahora! Nos sentamos en la ventana, lo que resultó en una experiencia gastronómica realmente informal, que se adaptaba perfectamente a la comida. Una velada indulgente y divertida, todo rematado antes de las 22 h. No podría recomendar este lugar lo suficiente y no pasará mucho tiempo antes de que volvamos de nuevo :)
