Popped by on our hike along the Tyne valley and found this little gem. Lovely coffee and cakes to die for. Served with a friendly smile by a lovely lady. Was one of the little highlights of our week away in Northumberland. Supporting lovely little independent businesses like this a real privilege.

This quiet café beside Riding Mill railway station is a real find with quality products and homemade scones, cakes and bakes etc. There are pods for outdoor eating and blankets if it's chilly. Lovely staff and good service. We queried being charged £26 for two coffees, two scones and a piece of cake and it appeared the previous customer's bill hadn't been cleared. Phew! Train lovers will enjoy the simple station and passing trains. Definitely worth a visit.

Owners - please train your staff to use tongs or at least plastic gloves to serve your takeaway scones! Quite unhygienic for staff to simply grab a scone with their bare hands right in front of the customer - not once but twice 🤮 I didn’t see the staff member wash their hands… I was in a rush so couldn’t wait for another!

Just called in today when in the vicinity and looking for somewhere for a snack. Had a lovely soup and hot sandwich, followed by cake, plus a coffee. Food was good and there is also a good selection of local produce and other items for sale. Friendly service and it is right next to Riding Mill Railway Station, so handy for rail travellers. Would definitely visit again. They also mentioned having an evening opening on the 2nd and 3rd Wednesday of the month, which may be something to look out for.

I'vejust been robbed...First time in Riding Mill.went to your coffee shop and got charged £11.50!!!!! for 2 cakes and a dozen eggs. Having lived in France for several years I am used to paying high prices for quality food but in comparison your prices are unjustified even though your cakes are homemade and lovely.

I love the station coffee house. It is a hidden gem and I hope everyone uses it. I love how it is also a little shop for the locals. The service is 100% from the lovely staff. I love the outdoor hut seating arrangement. I visited with my mum and dad. I had the lentil and bacon up with a bread roll and it was so thick, tasty and warming. My white hot chocolate with all the trimmings was a nice treat. I had room for a little tasty cake it was a spanish tarte thing and it was nice. I learnt that it was curry night in the evening aswell 430 till 730. Think they have a food night on every Wednesday? Anyway this is truly a hidden gem :) I reccoemend a visit.

Went here in the late morning on a drizzly day. Surprised to find that it was busy, obviously it's well known in the local area. It's very small, and has an outdoor seating area, it works well for takeaway. The hot chocolate was amazing and lovely on a damp day. The sausage roll and caramel shortbread were well baked and tasty. Nice place to go to, will definitely consider again!

We initially visited the Coffee House when it first opened, trooping in when our rambling club finished a walk in Riding Mill. We took the opportunity to call in again on a journey back home from the Ayrshire Coast. Dismal wet afternoon but we were made to feel very welcome in the snug cafe. Coffees, sausage roll and custard slice - all enjoyed. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, despite the depressing weather. Will call again.

What a fantastic coffee house , coffee is absolutely amazing , freshly made and full of great taste I had an Americano full of strength and just right to set my day off. Whilst I was there is sat in the lovely garden area and ate a freshly prepared cheese and chutney sandwich (NOT pre-packed what a blessing !! ), which was very very tasty. The ladies who run this little coffee house are so friendly and have a great attention to detail , the whole coffee house gives a charming , warm and welcoming feeling . I would highly recommend this business and the high levels of food , drink and customer service they provide.

We ate here last night for my birthday. We’re staying in Northumberland for a week and had been recommended. I am vegan and often feel I get short changed compared to my carnivore husband. But not here! The food was delicious. Tasty and beautifully served. Also being a couple of meters from the kitchen was fascinating and made it even more special. The staff are attentive, very professional but also friendly. I loved how everyone got involved coming over to bring dishes out.

First time here and we loved the food. The set menu was tasty. Hubby had the crayfish to start and I had the curried potato and parsnip soup, both got full marks. The star of the show was the turkey main dinner. Gravy and roast potatoes were so tasty and the turkey was juicy, topped with a Yorkshire pudding. What is not to like. I managed to force myself to have the sticky toffee pudding, it had to be done. Just off the A1 so ideal for a stop for lunch or dinner.

Went for the 2 course lunch menu. The food was very tasty but the portions were measured to say the least. Then we made the mistake of opting to finish with Turkish coffee without checking the menu for its price. At £9.20 for two thimble-fulls it was a sobering experience.
