Meal was very nice. Service not so good. Took ages for drinks, they eventually came with the meal, asked for mint and horse reddish, was nearly finished the meal by the time they arrived.

Our family of 4 had Sunday lunch here today, and without doubt, found it to be a great experience. Fantastic tasty food, huge portions, and great service. Will definitely be back

Lovely high end food at reasonable prices

Overall enjoyable with a disappointing desert , rhubarb and custard tart mainly consisted of an extremely stale and soggy pastry case which tasted like it had been made days ago and just a tiny layer of custard I couldn’t scrape from the pastry rendered the majority of it unpleasant , icecream was very poor too not at all creamy. If I’d been asked at any stage how the food was I’d have mentioned it but while service was efficient no one at any stage asked so just asked for bill and paid. Other negatives were the dishes used for starters are awful , rough coated pottery which sets teeth on edge with the sound and feeling of cutlery making contact. Overall experience ok but not sure I’d rush back , might try Sunday lunch.

Walked out of here twice now so won't be back, the staff just seem like they don't want to be there or serve you, was only for drinks so stick you in the back and has hotel lobby music playing, better places in Morpeth than here

Friends chose this place having been told about it by their son. Having checked out the menu on the website beforehand I was a little sceptical as although it was a fixed price menu, the majority of things came at a supplement. But at £30 for a 3 course dinner we decided that wasn’t bad. The staff were very attentive without being overbearing. The menu offered a nice choice of food, each with a suggested wine pairing of which you could have a small glass of. The portion sizes were small but beautifully presented. And it meant that we could all have 3 courses without feeling overly full. I wouldn’t say it is your average Friday night meal out as it turned out a bit pricey with the wines and supplements but if you are looking for somewhere nice as a celebration then I recommend it.

Had lunch twice here in the last month, it was absolutely delicious and well presented, and I am sure it wont be the last visit for us.

We went for Sunday lunch. First time we've been here but will definitely be back. Food was really tasty and you get loads! We ordered 2 sides aswell, not sure 2 was a good idea with the amount of veg you get anyway. Meat was lovely, Yorkshire was big and Gravy was tasty. Service was also good. A little bit pricier then what we would usually pay but worth it. Will definitely be back.

We visited The Townhouse to try their new afternoon tea. Service as always was fabulous, Florian giving impeccable service. The afternoon tea itself was very well presented with loads of food. Too much for us. We took the left over cakes home. It was excellent value for money at £18.95 each. We can’t wait to go back and do t again soon.

The Town House provided an excellent dining experience, with attentive service from Lazlo, Adam, and Conny. They served perfectly cooked scallops and steak, and were flexible in adjusting our order to suit our preferences. The staff clearly take pride in their work, making the evening even more enjoyable. The waiters were all super friendly and seemed like they genuinely wanted to be there. Myself and Zoe ordered the fillet steaks which were incredible. We had the pina colada panna cotta and sticky toffee pudding to finish and also tried out some cocktails. 10/10, it was all insane! Highly recommend. On the pricier side but you are paying for quality.

After listening to a number of highly recommended reviews, we thought that a Sunday Lunch would be a good option to try the Town house. The building is very well presented and the service is excellent. Unfortunately the food was the worst part of this experience. I ordered a prawn cocktail which was basic and uninspiring, it's probably the worst prawn cocktail I've had for a long time. Shredded lettuce 5 prawns with a dollop of Prawn Marie Rose source, that was it, nothing more. We ordered loin of pork and additional cauliflower cheese. The meal arrived and it looked Instagram worthy , but that was the turning point. The plates were hot and the food was luke warm at it's best. It was as though the meal had sat for 20 minutes and it was also tasteless. The side vegetables weren't even warm they were COLD, the cauliflower cheese was cold sitting in a pool of cheese water, fit for the bin. Within 2 minutes of receiving the food I asked for the waiter to present the food hot and the meal was taken away only to return at the same temperature. This is a basic ask and a fundamental part of a cooked meal. We asked what time the chef went home as clearly this was cooked hours and hours ago and plated up to order. The yorkshire pudding looked fantastic but was soft & lifeless. How do you manage this with something oven cooked?. Despite the razzmatazz I would give this a generous 2*, if you can't present cooked food hot, don't bother. When given a second chance to warm it up , I would expect it to return hot and refreshed. It didnt, I believe it was placed under a hot lamp for 5 minutes and again it was just warm. The Town house failed to redeem themselves, the basics of hot food couldn't be achieved. I don't know whether we experienced the end of day service but it was very poor. I would say that the potential for a nice meal is there but nobody wants to eat cold food and pay a premium for it. The waiter said you can take it home , I almost said so I can use my microwave instead. I cannot recommend this experience. Service from arrival to end was brilliant, such a shame the food didn't live up to the same standard or reviews.

Like everything about this place. Been 3 times now whenever I visit my son in Newcastle we drive up to Morpeth.

After reading a great review in our local newspaper we decided to try the Townhouse for lunch and I'm pleased we did. The food, service , decor and atmosphere were spot on. We opted for the lunch / early bird menu at £21:95 for three courses and we were very impressed with the quality and presentation of the food and will be returning soon. Beautiful Sunday dinner. Al dente veg and a choice of our beef to be served rate or well done. The service was impeccable. The staff couldn't do enough for us. There's a choice of three floors but best to book. We don't have anything negative to say. We will go again and take family. Highly recommend.

Been tonight for my partners birthday. We chose the two course meal as can never finish three. Really good service & friendly waiter, it was pretty quiet at the time we went however food was lovely and we would defo come back.

Visited here for a meal with two old and dear friends and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely place - we had travelled from Washington, South Tyneside so we came a fair distance. Friends live in Morpeth. We find places taking turns choosing for the lads driving and the cost of petrol. Good excuse to meet up and keep friendship going.

Had a beautiful Sunday dinner here today, the pork dinner was beautiful and they worked well with my intolerances. Lots on the plate and the crackling was impressive. Great Value for money. It came to about £20 per head with drinks. We had a range between pork, lamb & beef and everyone said their meal was lovely. My niece had fish & chips from the kids menu. My only complaint was that it seemed to take a while to get seated despite having a table booked and it was almost an hour before anyone took our choices. It was busy though and we were a table of 8. Once ordered food came swiftly.

Definitely give this place a try, we had Sunday lunch (Fathers Day), it was busy but we didn’t wait long for our courses. The food was delicious and well presented, desserts have that special attention to detail & good choices. The staff were attentive and proficient and knew the menu if you had any questions. We will definitely come back, a hidden gem.

My first visit here and I was very impressed. Food quality, service and ambience were all excellent. I had the vegetarian carrot and parsnip nut roast and it was very good. Sometimes places try to make them too fancy with dried fruits and it ruins them. This was perfect with the veg, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Sticky toffee pudding was also excellent.

We dined last night as a table of 5, we were celebrating my birthday! The food and service were excellent. Great size meals and very tasty. The restaurant looks really nice too! Thank you for my birthday plate and the lovely food!

Just had the three course meal for £18.75. The salmon starter wasn’t lacking imagination with the green jelly cubes and a raspberry confit thing but it had no flavour. My main course, ribeye steak was cooked medium rare as I requested was a good portion but it was really tough. The table is glass and so you had to put a napkin under your plate to stop your plate sliding off the table as you attempted to cut your steak. Sticky toffee pudding was excellent. Loads of people I know have raved about this place but I found the service unfriendly (no smiles, no greeting when we came up the stairs, no attentive staff servicing table and there was only 3 tables in use and three servers). It was just really underwhelming. Not a bad price but sorry, but just don’t rate it which is such a bummer as I really want to rave about my local restaurants.

We had lunch at the Townhouse after our wedding. It was simply amazing. From the moment we booked the service was excellent. So professional and accommodating. They made us feel very special. The food is fantastic. Would highly recommend.

A surprise birthday treat for my wife that definitely didn't dissapoint. The Restaurant is beautifully decorated and the subtle laid back Jazz in the background set the mood for a chilled lunch. When it comes to the food I can honestly say it was beyond expectations, beautifully presented and full of flavour. The service was unobtrusive and super efficient,as a whole the Food,service and ambience were all impeccable.

Second visit and will not be the last! Having experienced the size of the portions before we opted for the smaller. Ample food and still great value.

Fantastic in ever way - a truly memorable meal, and one of the best I have had in recent years. Totally unpretentious, but so very, very special. The service was wonderful - attentive without being intrusive, and we felt like we were the only ones in! the food itself was exquisite, and I cannot wait to come back and sample the other dishes on the menu. So reasonably priced, too, given the incredible quality. Thank you so much - we will be back.

This restaurant certainly lived up to recommendations, Morpeth does need some good local restaurants and this certainly fits the bill. The decor is tasteful and interesting, lovely ambience and charming, helpful service. The food was excellent, plenty of options, although as the Sunday lunch is enormous you can possibly skip the starter. Good range of drinks and terrific value for money. Ideal venue to take guests to hopefully in the not too distant future. Will try a weekday evening on the next visit.

A magical venue, ideal for special occasions and for ordinary occasions made special. Food was amongst the best I've had; amazing. The service and ambience was so friendly and professional it's exceptional, you feel it as soon as you walk through the door. Thank you for a great evening. Can't wait to return.

Good and if he spends right. The restaurant offers tasty dishes with fresh ingredients and a welcoming atmosphere. Staff are courteous, although wait times can be slightly longer during busy periods.

I will keep this short but very sweet. The service was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. Starter, Sunday lunch and dessert all incredible, each course was delicious, so pleased I somehow found space for the lemon meringue cheesecake dessert! Beautiful restaurant with lovely decor. We were there last night as a party of four and could not fall it , bar one minor niggle , the chairs were digging into my legs , but other than that PERFECT

6 of us had the early bird menu. Food was lovely as has been described in previous reviews. The service us to a point was impeccable. About 1 hour and 45 mins into our meal and just finishing our desserts we were told we had 7 minutes to vacate the table! We had just ordered more wine and were still eating. The staff were very insistent we leave and said it was in the t&Cs of our booking. I made the booking and have to say there was nothing that brought the fact our meal was time limited to my attention. Even if they had mentioned it when we sat down or maybe with 20 mins to go but they literally bustled us out of the restaurant and made us sit downstairs to finish our drinks. I get that they need to have the table back but I think they were sneaky, given that they waited till we ordered more bottles of wine,and rude to us when we protested we werent finished our meal, some of the party still eating their cheeseboard desert, the whole thing could of been handled better. The starters took good half hour to be served after we sat down so their slow service didn't help. So be warned if you have the early bird menu you better eat quick!

We had the pleasure of eating at this little gem the other evening. It was a Saturday night and the restaurant was busy and vibrant with a wonderful buzz that complemented the whole ambiance. From start to finish the staff were friendly and very professional. The food was excellent and in my view extremely good value. For me, this is the #1 restaurant in Morpeth, and is probably one of the best in Northumberland. Thank you for a lovely evening and we will definitely be returning soon.

Ignore the charts! This is by far the best place to eat in Morpeth! Why they aren’t number one I have no idea. All of my friends and local residents know they are outstanding in this area. They’ve got everything right: the venue and decor are lovely, the menu and pricing are just right, the staff and maitre d’ are friendly and professional, and above all the food is excellent. Another great meal tonight. I’ve been many times and never disappointed. I just hope they can keep going in a very competitive market and difficult economic circumstances. Well done to you all

Absolutely amazing, the food is like something I've never had before

Visited here on Friday lunch time with family,all the reviews are spot on. The service was professional,the decor and most importantly the food was excellent. We all had mains and a dessert each,clean plates all round,every one agreed the food and quality was outstanding. There is an excellent buzz in the restaurant with nearly all the tables full. This is a quality restaurant a true gem in Morpeth. Thanks to all the staff. We will definitely be coming back 👍

Had a drink in the bar down stairs and were served by two lovely ladies. Went upstairs to the restaurant and were shown to a table at our allotted time. After waiting over twenty minutes I eventually attracted the attention of one of the waiting staff enquiring if it was possible to get served. My wife ordered a bottle of champagne and then I was asked what I would like to order!!! Not impressed with it at all and decided to leave. Spoke to the manager who was visible at all times flitting around, he hadn't even noticed us. Can't comment on the food as didn't get the opportunity to try it. Shame as it had been recommended. If you want to be pretentious at least have the staff who know what they are doing.

Fantastic food, lovely staff, child and dog friendly. We booked for 5 adults, one child and a dog. We were given a table on the ground floor at the back of the bar, almost a separate room. It was spacious, clean, next to the loo and they provide dog beds and a water bowl. We all ordered 3 courses, the blue cheese mousse was delicious, then the belly pork which arrived with fantastic gravy, hispi cabbage and mash. The confit beef was fab and our friend who had the chalk stream trout loved it. For pudding we had cherry and pistachio creme brulee and lemon meringue cheesecake. We enjoyed it so much we've booked to go again.

We had a gorgeous Sunday lunch here. On arrival we had a very warm welcome by all staff and this excellent customer service continued throughout our meal. We both had a fresh and delicious salmon starter. This was also beautifully presented. Followed by huge roast dinners that tasted wonderful. Great choice of cocktails too. Thank you to all the staff - they were great. We will be back!

Absolute gem, the quality taste and presentation of the food was far beyond the price of the 3 course early bird deal, service was excellent everyone we dealt with was friendly attentive and knowledgeable. We have booked to come again in March. Would definitely recommend.

We took a chance as we found this place just by chance and we are so pleased we did. The food was exceptional and so well presented too. There were 4 of us and each starter, main course and dessert was beautiful. The price was so reasonable too - we have paid a lot more and not as good food at many other places, We will definitely be back.

Absolutely stunning sounding menu, that promises a lot... surely at the price (for either 2-course or 3-course) the food can't possibly deliver what it promises! Not only does it deliver, it exceeds!! And boy does it exceed? On presentation, quantity and taste. I'm never lost for words and I'm a big fan of superlatives but they fail me. It's stunning, the décor is quirky and stylish, the service is top notch, polite, friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We've already booked another meal this coming week and now I feel it'd be daft to go elsewhere!

A great destination for couples, excellent service, great food, very reasonable and plenty of atmosphere. This was our first time coming, based on a friends commendation - definitely a gastronomic experience and somewhere for a cultivated meal with my wife.

Absolutely fantastic food, and service and great value. The food was beautiful, good size portions, very well presented, and good quality, even good for vegetarian option. We had Northumbrian broth, and beetroot starters, fish, venison and mushroom wellington for mains and chocolate torte and a cheese board for dessert from the set Xmas menu. The wine was great and brilliant cocktails. Staff were very attentive and even took our coats away and had them hanging above a radiator so they were toasty warm when we left, would highly recommend and can’t wait to go back.

Well, where do I start? A fabulously smooth Argentinian Malbec set the scene, followed by a fantastic meal including the best melt-in-your-mouth roast beef I have tasted in many years! That was accompanied by no fewer than 9 different veggies! Wonderful service too. I’ll definitely be back!

This is an elegant restaurant in the heart of Morpeth. We ate here with friends for dinner.The service was impeccable, and the food was outstanding. Good choices and great prices at approx 21£ for 2 courses and 24£ for 3. The food was so delicious...

The restaurant is definitely worth visiting. The service was 5* and food was out of this world. It is definitely the value for money and they accommodated our dietary requirements without hesitation. Lush... Just lush... Will be coming back soon 😁

Food was absolutely delicious, service brilliant and the overall experience was looking lovely. Some of us paid extra for the beef dishes, but still excellent value for money.
