The Stanley NR3 in Norwich

Wonderful little pub. Great cosy atmosphere, friendly staff and punters. Tacos there fantastic too. Can’t go wrong.

Not the best beer pub in NR3, but the new tacos courtesy of the chefs behind Bodega are absolutely fab. Generous portions and good price! Will be back to try the brunch options too

I've been to The Stanley a lot of times and it's always been great, Last Sunday I went there with some family and tried the tacos from FuegoNorwich, they were the best tacos I've ever had in my life, I had the beef brisket birria tacos and I also had the papas a la diablo which were amazing, 10/10!

Reopened with a new look, lost some of its spit and sawdust charm but still a lovely spot

Just are at Stanley's pub / fuego tacos, the food was amazing, I highly recommend it.

Lucky enough to be there for new kitchen residents first evening. The pub was lovely and the bar staff so welcoming! The food was amazing! The people behind BODEGA have created FUEGO… expect tacos and nachos and all the good things. Make sure you try those toasted potatoes and the BIRRIA! Order an extra pot of the beef broth no matter what you are eating! Can’t wait to go back!

Guinness was perfect. Other customers made a fuss of my dog. Decor easy on the eye.

Recently visited The Stanley at 33 Magdalen Rd, Norwich and was absolutely delighted! This place is perfect for a cozy evening out. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive and the service was top notch. The atmosphere is wonderful - warm and inviting, with a nice interior that creates a cozy feeling. The menu pleases with a variety of dishes and drinks, and the quality of the food exceeded all expectations. I especially recommend to try their specialties - it is a real gastronomic delight! Separately, I would like to mention the affordable prices and excellent value for money. If you are looking for a place to relax and have a good time, The Stanley is definitely a great choice. I will definitely come back here again!

Nice pub. Usual modern trendy shit. Nice beer served at London prices. Good environment to meet pals in, have a date, or even bring family. Would recommend.

It’s re-opened (as of 26th July 2018) with a great new look, new beers and a whole different atmosphere. Now a lovely place to hang out. Currently kids aren’t allowed past 8pm Mon-Thu and 7pm Fri-Sun

Under new management, beers kept in good order, excellent food, pleasant welcoming atmosphere. Loads of outdoor seating,covered back garden area!!

Excellent selection of alcohol free beers, including my favourite Erdinger

Updated review (August 2024): We had a really great time here, amazing pasta and pizza from Yard, good beer selection and the services was excellent! Have been back since and second time was equally as great. Third time: The Stanley is dog friendly, but isn’t baby friendly. No changing tables and time restrictions on when families can be in there and enjoy a meal out. Which is a shame. Unsure we’ll be heading back for a fourth time.

Had dinner with 5 friends, highly recommend 👌, food cooked by the Yard amazing, and staff very attractive, will definitely be visiting very soon

Had high expectations after visiting the Harper in Langham, which is affiliated with The Stanley-we were very disappointed by the food-neither the pasta or the accompanying sauce appeared freshly cooked ; pasta was cold and rubbery. Staff appeared uninterested and unengaging with customers; sadly, will not be returning

Always a great place for a few pints, lovely pub with great service and atmosphere. They have a reasonable sized food menu and it all looks delicious, but not many vegetarian options (not many with vegetarian cheeses) and unfortunately the pizza isn't fresh so cant ask for something to be added/taken off.

Ah! The Stanley! Flying the flag and finally linking NR3 together into one gloriously exciting pathways of excellent independent bars and restaurants, it cements Norwich of the Waters' status as a fine place to live, love and laugh! YARD pasta and Pizza dishes are available for dinner (and very fine they are too) and the bar itself carries a glorious selection of beers, wines and spirits. It's a very fine bar. Wear a wild hat, try that new jacket, rock out in your 110s and have a grand and glorious night.

Our favourite. One of our regular locations for drinks with friends. Also excellent in house food from Yard and Brick...we've eaten here many times and are always impressed. Visited this weekend for a table of ten for my son's birthday and despite being incredibly busy, everything was perfect. Waiting staff are top notch, many of us are excited catering and often state these staff would be our first poach if we were ever to start again Bar staff are friendly, good drinks selection

I always find the staff a bit standoffish in here but the other day, we had a very nice waitress so that was a welcome change. You can get pizza and pasta in here on some days and it's a very cosy homely pub.

Very popular pub with lots of seating both inside and outside and good choice of drinks, including real ales. Food is outsourced to Yard (best pasta in Norwih) and Brick (best pizza in Norwich) - mains £8 - £13.

Food by the Yard, Amazing pasta night. Can't fault it

The Yard at The Stanley makes pasta dishes that are sublime. You can't book a table so timing of a walk in is everything as they're reputation makes them busy. Worth a wait though.

NR3 is a postal code area in Norwich, which covers various neighborhoods and locations in the city. Moreover, The Stanley is a pub within this area. I like it and the staff there are always nice and it's in a good part of Norwich.

It's a nice enough pub, pleasant staff and Clientele, toilets need sprucing up.

Nice city pub. My first time there. The staff were extremely pleasant and friendly. I really enjoyed my meal of sausage pasta. It's dog friendly which is always a bonus. I would happily go back again. Reasonable prices too. Lovely bread and salad . Great deserts. Tiramisu and croissant 🥐 with different fillings and ice-cream. I enjoyed the heritage tomatoes and Charlie's leaves.

Really starting to pick up on a Friday teatime. Great selection of beers and a really friendly clientele, and bar staff. Functional toilets, and great convo during which I was informed that the food is amazing, but I'm only after cheap and nasty. 😂 My only negatives is that the toilets are hard to find.....you have to pass by a doot to Narnia! 🤯

Nice pub with good mainly HUK draft with positive vibes. Not too many seats if you just want a drink, but relaxing outside space at front. As part of a smarter pub crawl with other nice pubs nearby it fits the bill

Came here for dinner on a friday. The pub was packed but we likely find a table free. The food was excellent! Amazing pasta al dente, which is rare in the uk. A must-try if you like authentic italian food. Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Will definitely come back!

The pub was a nice place to drink and a nice atmosphere but my night in here was spoilt by one of the staff/barmaids who would walk around and no matter where I stood she would ask me to move or say I was in the way. One time she just pushed me into the table I was standing at and said it as she went by. It was a shame because as I have said the pub was nice, the atmosphere was nice but the whole experience was ruined by the staff member.

Went for food, was okay but limited menu but nice enough. Would suggest more vegi options

Very nice place, friendly staff, lovely to hang-out, recently improved garden space. A surprisingly poor (and seemingly unchanging) beer selection given what's going on in the rest of NR3.

Lovely pub changed a lot since last visit

Stopped by for a couple of drinks on way into city. So quiet.

First visit, recommended by my daughter. Food excellent, reasonable price, large portions. Good selection of drinks. Staff very pleasant. Sat inside, but plenty of outside seating too.

Great, stylish pub. I’m dropping a star because I feel like the food offerings are overpriced compared to other offerings in the area. However that doesn’t subtract from the lovely pub in what I think is a lovely area. Would recommend to anyone, I’ve never had a bad experience in this pub.

I have been to several Norwich City of Ale Festivals, but this my first time here. I liked the place, considering the walk here a good investment of my time. There was a sufficient choice of ales and the three of us thought they were in really good condition.

Very friendly!! Great cocktails!! Child friendly made my daughter feel like a valued customer she is 8 and felt really grown up!! When they are not serving food they don't mind you getting a takeaway and bringing it in all they ask is you tidy up after yourself!!
