We were visiting as a special treat for our sons birthday. The service from the waiting staff was very good and the food came out nice and quick. This is an expensive restaurant, expect to pay around £50 a head just for the main meal so I was expecting good quality food. However, I was very disappointed with the quality of my piece of steak. I always order rib eye and I fully understand this is a fattier cut of meat compared to say sirloin or fillet but the majority of the meat was inedible due to sinue and thick, white fat, the type that is never going to melt when cooked resulting in chewy inedible meat. I did bring this to the attention of the waitress who then asked the manager to come over. She did apologise but then went on to say that it was just my ‘bad luck’ due to the cow! She went on to explain that all cows have different levels of fat and I had just been unlucky! This is no way to talk to a paying customer and more so, insult my intelligence! I am shocked to have experienced such bad customer service from a very respectable restaurant. On their website it says their philosophy is, I quote : “Prime is built upon our passion for delivering both an excellent service and the highest quality of food.” On this occasion, the service and quality of food did not meet their so called standards and I have been left feeling very let down and angry. When I received the bill, I had still been charged full price for my steak which I was surprised to see as I hadn’t been able to eat it. I paid the bill including the steak because it was a family meal which didn’t want to spoil it and thought I would express my disappointment formerly. I did email them but they never even had the decency to acknowledge my email hence why I am writing this review.

We popped in after visiting the cathedral. The wine and food were superb and the gentleman behind the bar was really helpful and friendly. I would definitely return.

Excellent food and service. Not cheap, but worth the money if you want to treat yourself occasionally. I like how you finish cooking the steak yourself at the table. So you can get it exactly how you like it.

Our food was divine and our server explained how to best use the hot stone to cook our steaks. Desserts were delicious and lovely personalised message for our anniversary. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and just really lovely! Can’t wait to go back.

May i say that we were there last night had an amazing time food was fabulous, tasty and really enjoyed.  Your staff are just so friendly and welcoming from the moment you walk into the door to the time you leave.  They could not do more for you if they tried.  We just lightly mentioned that two of our party had got engaged and the next thing we knew out came a beautiful brownie with congratulations written across the plate and it hadnt been ordered either.  What an amazing gesture of kindness it made our couples night and made the experience magical we will definitely be coming again.

By far the best restaurant in Norwich. Our server Patryce is awesome. I love going just to talk to her. She is incredibly friendly. That is just the beginning. The steaks are fantastic, and if you are from North America you will appreciate the quality of the meat. The duck is probably my favourite dish but the rib eye or sharing a Tomahawk is always a great option. The desserts are home made and to die for. If you are staying only a night or two in Norwich and don’t come here you are crazy!

First off, nice place. The restaurant is above the bar so you get a great view if you get a window seat. As others have said, mains a lot better than starters though. I had a mackerel starter which was pretty bland. Shame as the mackerel was charred nicely but just needed seasoning and the accompanying salad could have done with the same. But hey. The steaks are the main attraction! I didn't really know how it all worked but the waitress was there to explain so no worries. I actually managed to cook my ribeye to perfection, possibly down to more luck than judgement! It turns the meal in to more of an experience and I really enjoyed the whole concept. The chips were excellent to but the small side salad was more of a token effort. Some nice field mushrooms and a better salad would have made a big difference. We did have a side of mac and cheese between us, and that was delicious - tasted like there was some blue cheese in there and it really elevated it. Wife had the Prime Burger which she said was excellent as well. Didn't manage a dessert as the steak, chips and mac totally filled me. Next time! Good selection of wines to boot. Overall, great fun and good food. Would definitely return.

With 17 of us dining out and getting drinks before the meal, Patryece, Barry, Joel and Sofia absolutely smashed service. We wanted for nothing and they read every want and need before we could even ask for it. We will be back every week and we hope the service lives up to what the standard has been tonight! Massive shoutout to Patryece and Barry! Super happy and impressed!

I booked ahead as we are a group of 13 people, and it was for Sunday evening. No payment was made but a no-show of £10/head was made clear. We got here anyway so no problem. We were given a room upstairs to ourselves, great. Our hostess (sorry, lost the note with your name, was it Polly?) was simply brilliant. nothing was too much, all done with a big smile, superb humour and genuine friendliness. She did everything all by herself and deserves a mention. The food was superb. Everybody enjoyed the good quality food, great quantities and decent prices. For me, the hot chicken wings followed by the seared duck breast was the best meal I'd had in a restaurant for some considerable time. The steaks and sea bass were also favorites around the group. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Everything was excellent quality, great service and we all had a brilliant evening. Best restaurant in Norwich? I don't know, but few will be better

We Came here to celebrate a friends birthday, we booked a few months in advance as its hard to get in here. Service was good throughout, they kept on top of our drinks, starterd were all big in size. The steaks were all cooked perfectly amoung us all to how we liked them. Never let down when you come home. Deserts were also very good.

I visited Prime at Edith Cavell for lunch with my very elderly aunt. Nothing was too much trouble - service with a warm welcome and smile. We had fillet steak which was cooked to perfection. I asked if they could do a soya latte. They did not have any soya but sent someone to a nearby shop, no luck, but the chef then went to one of his friends and acquired some. Where else would you get that sort of service. Can’t thank them enough.

Steaks at Prime are cooked on a lava hot stone at the table. We've only ever seen this used outside the UK, so it was great to find a restaurant of this type. Perfect steak, plus friendly/helpful staff made it a great evening all round. If we lived locally this would be one of our regular places to eat. (Your could not have asked for a more helpful team than this restaurant. Friendly to perfection with any help necessary given on how to “cook” your steak at the table. We also had problems getting a taxi back to the hotel, and again they could not have done any more to help).
