The service was very pleasant and helpful, and the place is clean and comfortable. There are mementos of the place's former incarnation as the Mustard Shopwhich adds interest. I thought the food was decent, but not exceptional, and perhaps some thought could be given to the presentation. Still, it is well worth a visit.

I love visiting Mustard with my colleagues on lunch, the service is fantastic - theyre always happy to see you and give lots of info about the specials. The foods amazing, they've always got something new to try and always willing to chop and change things to suit your needs. We love going here because it's so friendly, welcoming and they offer such a great selection. Be more mustard!

We came across this coffee / tea rooms in Norwich. Very nice and pleasant staff, tea and cake also good, just that there is no on-site toilets, you are directed up the road to a department store, this is a letdown. Had we known before hand that there were no toilet facilities we would have gone else where. A coffee bar with no toilets deserves a zero rating, not clean when you cannot freshen up after a bite to eat.

A wonderful place to stop for lunch or a quick coffee and cake! Staff are so friendly and patient as we often changed our minds given the array of choice. I had a cherry hot chocolate and I would come again just for that! My friend said it was the best coffee she had ever had. The prices are ridiculously reasonable and there was a good selection for my veggie friend. Since going we haven't stopped talking about it and are desperate to return. Lovely little place!

This cafe is in Bridewell Alley close to the Museum of Norwich. The coffee was excellent and different from what you'll get elsewhere since they roast their own. The cafe also specialises in teas and hot chocolate. We took some time to decide between having a soup and scone for lunch or having a sandwich. We chose the soup and had the choice of brown or white bread. This cafe, on the site of the original Coleman's Mustard shop, has a friendly staff who were keen to chat. The only problem was that cafe didn't have a toilet. We were advised to use the toilets in Jarrolds store which wasn't far away.

Our first visit since a change of ownership. The same quality coffee is served by friendly, knowledgeable and charming staff with a tempting array of cakes and treats on view, (we managed to resist; this time). There is a choice of seating either at tables but we plumped for the ultra comfortable arm chairs. Our varying drinks arrived quickly and they were all piping hot and my espresso really hit the spot. There was no pressure to leave once we had finished it being a completely relaxed atmosphere. It really is a hidden gem so allow yourself time, whether you are visiting, living or working in the fine City of Norwich, to have a great cup of coffee. Enjoy.

This is everything the last cafe in Norwich I reviewed . . . . . well wasn't. First off great coffee served by a very pleasant lady who remembered to bring the milk. Then a real conversation with two blokes sitting nearby. The background music was in the background and didn't seem to be for the staff's own personal entertainment. I didn't look at the menu but there were meals available. I'll be back, and I think often enough to become a regular. I used to frequent The Saints Coffee Bar, 23 St John Maddermarket for the same reasons as above. Then it became something else . . . . . . and I didn't.

Although the cakes looked lovely and the staff were very friendly, I can't give this place more than 2 stars. We were told that they didn't have toilets! I'm pretty sure it's a legal requirement to have a customer toilet where you are serving food and drink. The other negative is the tea. I don't know if the teapot hadn't been washed properly or there was still some washing up liquid in there, but it really didn't taste good. I won't be going back.

A chance encounter whilst meandering through Norwich lanes and back streets, where the old Coleman's Mustard shop used to be in Bridewell Alley. We spotted it the other weekend, but had just finished breakfast elsewhere so returned today. Unsure whether it would be open on a Sunday, we were pleased to find space at the breakfast bar. A couple of smooth Americano's and a fresh orange and we soon made our selection of bacon, sausage and egg paninis with cherry tomatoes and scrambled eggs on brown bread toast. Straightforward fayre that was soon dished up, well presented and enjoyed. Locally sourced bacon, sausages and produce makes all the difference.. tasty, flavoursome and just what the doctor ordered. Friendly service, with time to chat about the cafe, the local scene and the quaintness of the location.. another Americano and we were able to set off around the city feeling suitably refreshed and replenished.. by the look of the home baked cakes on offer, I don't think it will be long before a revisit is in order. Another gem of a find in Norwich.. small, tucked away, but definitely worth seeking out.

I feel a bit sad writing this review as if I had written a review a couple of months ago it would have been a 4 or 5 star review, but recent changes have made me re-evaluate my feelings. I used to love going to Mustard; I loved it's cosy friendly vibe, I loved going in see the new artwork adorning the walls, and I loved the fact that I could sit in on a cold winter day and only order a coffee and a soup or sandwich and not feel too guilty about taking up a table as there was enough seating for everyone, and I didn't mind sharing with others who were on their own as well. However, at the end of the summer they had a refurb, and when I visited a few weeks ago I was shocked to see that most of the chairs and tables had gone, to be replaced by a single "bar" opposite the counter with a few stools, and only 2 coffee tables at the back with a couple of comfy chairs. I was also sad to see that they had wallpapered over the lovely "coffee bean" mural at the back of the shop, and the walls had been emptied of artwork and its unique personality. I was told by a member of staff that they had made the decision to move towards a more "grab and go" ethos, but with plenty of coffee places in town like this already, I felt that this decision could go against them in the long-term. They have also radically altered their menu, and taken a lot of the choice of options off of the menu. The quality of the coffee and food was still great, but I felt like the atmosphere had changed somewhat, and I felt guilty sitting at a table when others came in after me in small groups (I later moved to let a group sit where I had been sitting). I'm sure Mustard had their reasons for the big changes, but for me it hasn't worked I'm afraid.

Mustard has changed, they've moved the seating and only got 2 coffee tables with some grubby chairs. Friendly service, still a lovely place in a great location but they've lost the massive menu with all the delicious choice sandwishes on - now you get to pick from a small selection of ready made sarnies/soups and salads from a cold open take away fridge, my daughters was made the day before, the prawns didn't taste too fresh, the bread not too soft!! I had the soup which was served in the plastic pot it was picked in. Still a good cup of tea-pig in a nice pot. Maybe I've got to accept its not a sit in place now as they want the take away market more. Shame I loved the choice and the freshly made sarnies. You can still get pastries to eat in or take away. But you might not always get a seat.

Situated in Norwich's historic lanes area we were alerted to this quirky Coffee bar by a flyer in our hotel. This proved an adventure in itself to find in the atmospheric Bridewell alley despite my wife being a native of Norwich. We enjoyed a snack of homemade sausage rolls -meat sourced from a local butcher with lashings of mustard. Given that the café is situated in the former Colman's Mustard shop we felt that they could make more of the connection by offering a selection of prepared mustards. Drinks from a wide selection available were two Lemon and Ginger teas which went down well on a bitterly cold Monday afternoon. Very friendly obliging service and being independently run definitely stands out from the ubiquitous national chains.

Not exactly great culinary challenges for a Chef but these were well prepared and presented. the Bacon was some of the best I have tasted. The coffees we had although a touch small were very tasty, full of flavour and a match for the best out there. A surprise for me was they were included in the price of the meal which I did not expect. Perhaps I did not read the menu correctly but initially thought it was going to be a little expensive and found out it was the opposite. Very worth a visit if a little cold sat there with our coats on and the main door open. The sandwiches on the board looked attractive but we did not experience them. I feel I have to write a review about Mustard Coffee Bar to draw attention to the fact that the website that is currently shown, is in fact the website of the previous owners Ami and Ruth. The coffee bar changed hands at the end of October 2013. Whilst in there care for three years the girls grew the business into a thriving one, much loved by many Norwich people, and ive heard much missed by those people too. Unfortunately the girls had to sell due to a family member with ill health, but ive heard was sold to a lovely family that are just as passionate about the place as Ami and Ruth were. I felt I had to write this review as there have been comments about their website from recent visitors and wanted to make it clear that this is the old website, not the one of the current owners. Good luck to the new owners, lets hope you make it as popular as the original Mustateers! My review rating is of when the girls had Mustard when I last visited.

My partner and I were walking past last week and were given a free sample of coffee. It was delicious and we decided to go back this week for breakfast. The service was speedy, efficient and friendly and the cafe is clean, bright, modern and funky.

Tiny cafe with one largish table and bar stools around the wall at the back. Service was very friendly and the breakfast was tasty. Good quality bread/toast.

I Found this place on the recommendation of a good friend, walking up and down a couple of the lanes its not the easiest to find, but worth the trip. This is a great small spot for coffee close to the centre of norwich but off the well beaten path, quieter with a relaxed friendly atmosphere in a very quirky old building with interesting original artwork by local artists displayed. You know that the people there are loyal regulars, this place has quite the fan club.

Although the name suggests that the coffee is the main attraction here, this is easily Norwich's best place for breakfast.

Amazing little place, staff are always smiling and lovely, and the food on offer is always great with good sized portions. Great atmosphere too with local artwork displayed around the small interior. I come here often and would recommend to anyone.

This is a very nice little cafe hidden in the centre of Norwich, on an alley just off Bedford Street. Nice hangout place I'd say. The staff are very friendly and the food is very nice; a good selection of sandwiches and homemade soups which are yummy. There are cool artworks hanging on the walls to keep you amused (or if you're tempted, buy them at a reasonable price). The back wall of the cafe is a lovely feature in itself. Overall, a very interesting spot with young and trendy crowd.

I love this place! The staff are very friendly, the food is freshly made and they sell the best coffee in Norwich. They are veggie friendly which is a plus! I would recommend them to everyone.

This really is a wonderful place, you get the warmest greeting and geniunely friendly atmosphere. There is a tremendous choice of sandwiches, snacks, cakes etc, along with superb coffees/teas. This really is the perfect antidote to the faceless, charmless chains throughout the city. It is a real pleasure visiting here and we will certainly be frequent visitors.

Got here for a brunch after popping in previously and liking the look of what we saw. It was the most friendly place. Menu smallish but delicious and very veggie friendly. Tempted by a slice of Victoria sponge cake which turned out to be the best we have ever had. Loved this cafe to pieces!

This is a very welcoming cafe, tucked down one of Norwich's lanes. Loads of character and charm. The staff are very accommodating and the food and drink good quality. My only criticism is that the coffee cups are a little on the wee side. Sort this problem out and Mustard would receive a 5 star review.

My sister and I found this fantastic treasure by default but what an amazing find. From the moment we entered and were welcomed by a colorful, smiling young lady. we chose our breakfast but I was undecided on what coffee to have she asked me "how do you like your coffee?" then she recommended the flat white coffee and she was right strong, flavoursome but not bitter - what a knowledge. whilst enjoying the most amazing breakfast every she talked to us about our plans for the day and then later gave us a hand written list of places to eat that night - such a kind thought - this really made our day and she nor the amazing coffee shop with it s tales of the coffee beans on the walls - that was an education - will never be forgotten. Everyone in the coffee shop was warm and friendly and this was great to see - keep up the good work - we would return to Norfolk just to visit you

This is a Norwich secret. Tucked down Bridewell Alley, off Bedford Street, this little independent coffee bar is run and owned by a couple of people who are very passionate about great food and coffee. They roast their own beans, cook all their own food and hang local young artists work for sale. Their breakfasts are amazing. I recently has an eggs Benedict which would not be out of place in a posh restaurant at 5x the price lunch can be just a sandwich or their special of the day, which seems to vary every day and never gets repeated.. You can sit around the big table and chat or on a bar stool for more privacy. It's not a pot of tea and scone shop. This place is alive and different. The atmosphere is arty and colourful. They take Sunday & Monday off, but if you want to see how friendly Norwich people are, give it a try. You will not be disappointed.

Love this place! Broad diverse menu with many dishes not commonly seen. Calm and relaxing interior too, very nice design. Wonderful friendly service too. This place would be a smash hit in London or New York, and I was delighted to find in little Norwich.

I came here with three friends last month whilst we were staying in Norwich. We were more than impressed with the service and food; it was amazing!!!! Our servers were kind and helpful, the food was brought out incredibly fast and the ambience of the restaurant was lovely. We got the rosé Toppoki and the usual Toppoki, the Jinju tapas and the Korean Fried Chicken. Everything was so insanely good, and portion sizes were huge! We could not stop talking about it on our walk back to where we were staying. Thank you for a lovely meal on the last day of our trip! Highly recommend!

Came across this place and noticed they sold grounded coffee and purchased it. 5 minutes later after walking away I realised that they sold me coffee beans, so went back and politely asked if this could be exchanged- which the staff said even though they advertise it they didnt sell it and only sell the beans-so requested a refund. At this point they couldn’t see my transaction on the till and asked if I even paid for it? The guy who served me was there but didn’t mention he served me at that time- I was then asked to check my internet banking to check the transaction has gone through and for them to see this also???? Because if it didn’t go through then no refund is required????(Could have asked the staff member who served me?????) Eventually they found my purchase- said it’s been refunded- but still hasn’t. So keep the £6… not worth the re visit.
