On 18th June, I booked a table for 4 - for 6pm. We arrived on time and took our seats at a table by a window. As we placed our hands on the empty table, to sit down it became apparent that the Surface of the Table was very Sticky and not acceptable. Our two friends who are American, looked on in amazement, as Bar Staff could see our dilemma but did not step forward. Tom from South Carolina was on his feet and walked over, not to complain but to get the "Cleaning Spray and Cloth" which he spotted on a spare table near the bar. Unfortunately, the Spray and Wipe did nothing to resolve the problem so in desperation, we used the Large Laminated Menus face down on the table. They stuck with a permanence and the Cleaning materials were returned to the table. We attended the bar and requested 4 x Pepsi. We were asked whether we wanted "Pints" or Standard". As we were in mixed company, I suggested Standard Glasses. "You will need to pay for the drinks now I was told, pay as you go.," "No problem" I said. That will be £13.00 something.. said the lady behind the till... I could not remember the amount after the £13.00 as my mind was busy inquiring what else I had ordered with the DRINKS to get to that price!. No receipt was offered, or given and I just paid the asking price and wandered back to our table with two of the drinks, the other two were delivered to the table which looked really sassy with bright menus as place mats. I was still in a Pepsi daze as the Cutlery arrived, shortly followed by the food which was also ordered at the bar and was served up to the table on the laminated menus. Nothing was mentioned. On a positive note the Food wasn't bad at all, Tom's Cod was large and hung over the plate. It was a pity Tom had to have MASH with his Cod as we were told that they had NO CHIPS! No Chips, a Sticky Table and Very Expensive Pepsi ! Not the Greatest start to the evening. As a family we mainly shop at Aldi in Llangefni, and I personally buy a lot of their 2 litre bottles of "Own Brand " Pepsi - which is Excellent - I defy anybody to tell the difference .... Now the Aldi Look a like is, wait for it ... 49 pence per 2 Litre Bottle, Yes 2 Litre. I worked out that for £13.00 something, I could buy 26 x 2 Litre Bottles of the Aldi Product which represents over 52 LITRES . Hm - and will I be returning to the "Standing Stones" Holyhead in the near future for another Pepsi Moment --- I think not !

Definitely won’t be returning! Rude staff! Fish bones found in the steak pie which when we told the waitress she replied with “they’re mint leafs” as she stormed off, vile language behind the bar. We were the only table in and it’s now clear to see why! Our drinks took 45 mins to arrive just before our starters came out .Haven’t seen my family in years and very disappointed we made the decision to go here.

My wife and I went here for my birthday while on holiday in Anglesey. Due to my milk allergy I often find it difficult to eat out, but thankfully information about allergens at this restaurant was easy to find on the website, which was one of the main reasons we chose to eat here. Once we got to the Standing Stones the staff were very attentive without being intrusive, and handled our dietary requirements efficiently and effectively. I had the gammon steak, which came with both egg and pineapple, and was cooked just right, with a side of beer-battered onion rings. My wife had the minted lamb shank, which had plenty of meat on it, and was falling off the bone. Desserts are a particular bugbear of mine, as most seem to contain milk in some form, but unusually, here I was actually given a choice of desserts, three in fact. Unable to choose between them, my wife ordered the salted caramel tart, and I had the praline tart, both with vegan vanilla ice cream, and we shared them between us. Both were very nice indeed, and a very welcome surprise. Chain pubs are usually much of a muchness, but due to the menu, and especially the staff, the Standing Stones stood out. Dani, Dawni and Baylee were friendly, professional and very capable, and really helped make this a memorable experience. Despite my allergies, I felt safe in their hands, and confident that I wouldn't have a nasty surprise later on in the evening! They evencoped with my unusual drinks request. Many chain pubs could learn quite a bit by taking a trip here!

Mediocre. Had called here few years ago on way to ferry and had a decent meal. This time it was decidedly poor - bland food, not great quality - would have been better quality and value going to local chippy. Avoid.

Basing this review mainly on the staff there. I found them to all have a really bad attitude.I appreciate we have had a tough time recently with covid etc but there is no need to be rude.I ordered a hunters chicken & when it arrived it did not have the onion rings on it as indicated on the menu when I mentioned this there was no apology only yes I will get them now. They came out quick but I was shocked to see two onion rings and the bowl slammed on the table.Really disappointing I was glad to leave, not a nice atmosphere at all.

Went to standing stones for my sons 17th birthday. Bought him a cider after checking online that 16/17year old are allowed an alcoholic beverage by law. Turns out it’s not standing stones ‘policy’ to serve a teenager an alcoholic beverage whilst with their parents having a meal. Boggles the mind. Was treated poorly by a young redhaired girl. Very patronising and ill mannered. Annoying ,as we were looking forward to enjoying a family meal with a drink to celebrate.....Sad really as we come here very often. Have never experienced this before. What a shame!! Thanks for ruining my sons birthday.

Good food, big portions but overpriced. Fish & chips £18.50 Roast beef £18.50. Roast turkey £18.25. Ok you can have two for one main meals, but single customers pay full price with the offer of a free pudding…big deal…what if you don't eat pudding!! Why cant they just have a straightforward £9 or £10 per meal and not discriminate against single customers? Because there were three of us one had to pay the full pice, (no one wanted a pudding ) not fair on single customers.

1st the positives..... Nice helpful staff, nice interior, nice ale.Negatives......Poor food. We ordered cowboy beefburger....Honestly, in my opinion, the best known brand of burgers in supermarkets are FAR nicer than this offering. Again, in my opinion, Macdonalds burgers are MUCH NICER. The chips were cooked frozen ones and were passable. The desert was awful and the wrong one. I have never had a worse burger than this.

I can honestly say this was one of the worst pub meals I have ever had. My granddaughter is vegan and all they had was a disgusting looking burger which looked like it was made of rubber and tasted like it too my husband couldn't even cut his pie it was like rubber. Very cheap overpriced food even 2 for 1 it was extortionatly priced. I complained to the duty manager and in her favour she did refund one of the meals. But in all honesty none of the meals were of a standard I am used to if I had wanted cheap convenience food I would have gone to Macdonalds and it wouldn't have cost me over £30 !!!!! Definitely one to miss.

We were also the only table which wasn’t asked if everything was okay for us but could see the tables around us being asked.

The service was truly excellent - thank you so much Lisa and John. Very reasonable pricing especially as we weren’t even expecting 2-for-1! It is quality drinks and really very good pub grub served promptly, beautifully hot and tasty. The children’s menu has a good selection. Visited here as I was staying in the nearby Premier inn and didn’t fancy microwave food . I should have eaten at the inn as the food here was poor . I ordered the chick burger , fresh battered chicken fillet in a seeded bun , sauce , lettuce onion rings and chips for a bargain 13.50What I received looked like it was slung onto the plate from a considerable distance and was lukewarm and drenched in oil. The rings(2) were sodden in oil and cold , the chips marginally warmer, the lettuce and sauce non existent , but the flat formed chicken piece was hot .The friendly manager made up for the Appaloosa g food and made me give a star.East elsewhere

The front of house staff are very knowledgeable and the chef even came out to chat to us with other things he could do them and informed me how it would all be prepped, which is just amazing and a massive weight lifted when eating out with allergy children. Their pizzas and pizza bread garlic bread is just AMAZING, as is their other food. Over priced microwave food! Really disappointed, dirty cutlery had to ask for 4 other forks as all where obviously dirty! Also noticed a table next to us wasn’t cleaned between two different sets of people sitting on it, which i thought given the current circumstances hygiene should be top priority!!Visited as a group of four. Won’t be going again. One member of the group wasnt able to eat their meal and left it. Ordered sides, didn’t arrive the same time as our main meals and had to remind the waitress. The sides where pigs in blankets and when they eventually arrived i’m surprised anyone had the nerve to even serve them, as they didn’t even look edible. They where also left, by the end when the waitress came back and asked if everything was ok. We mentioned about the pigs in blankets and the awful Turkey dinner, the manager came over she was very polite, took the side of pigs and blankets off of the bill but we were told as the Turkey dinner was in a two for the price of one deal she wasn’t able to take it off? As it would cost us more but after thinking, it would have been possible as the price of the cheapest meal was £14 meaning it wouldn’t of cost us more by just paying for the one we were happy with in the deal. I also don’t know anywhere else where it costs £17.95 for one TURKEY DINNER! Nothing was offered as a gesture of good will to which we where disappointed! Don’t usually waste this much time in complaining but seriously!?

It would have been nice to have known this as I ordered, so I could choose something else. Ended up with salad cream. I then ordered my free desert, which I didn’t really want. But I had to justify £15 for a salad.Food is brought to a table, and you have to get it yourself. I mean come on REALLY. Wales has only just made masks in shops compulsory.I would have to say avoid. There is undoubtably better places nearby. I only went as it is near to the digs I’m staying in.

Visited today for a meal with friends. Everything from the start was great. Showed to our table straight away and told how everything worked. Ordered at the bar and food came out quick and was really good. Covid measures were great and made us feel very safe. Will certainly return.

Four of us visited whilst on holiday, having reserved our table online. Very good Covid arrangements which gave us a feeling of safety. Lovely Sunday roast beef dinners, but the restaurant had run out of mustard, horseradish sauce and IPA. One of the desserts was also substituted by an inferior one. Yes, we are in strange times, but ensuring that you have ordered enough supplies of condiments is really pretty basic.

Walking distance of Premier Inn so very convenient for a meal. Fish and chips and similar are probably the best bet. My wife had the salmon which had been cooked to death but to be fair my steak was OK. Staff very friendly and was COVID safe.

Since March this has been the first time I’ve been out for a meal. I booked and walked over froM the premier inn. The lady in reception explained about the trace system and the app. I was taken to a table. The app didn’t work but I got served at the bar, no queues. As a single person I was a bit put off by the 2 for 1 policy but the bar man explained I could get a pizza to take away. I had 3 pints which slipped down.Food is delivered to a delivery table where you collect. I really wanted vegetables and there are non on the menu except chips. I would say the food is very average but in terms of safety the restaurant has it sorted. My pie was lovely and with some veg it would have been amazing. But pie , gravy , chips and pies was nice enough. I’m rating this so highly as it gave me confidence to go out in the future

We visited here on bank holiday weekend. I didn’t book until the morning of the visit, but Lisa the manageress booked 4 of us in without a problem. When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely member of staff called John. Nothing was too much trouble for him. I couldn’t find anything suitable on the menu to suit my gluten free/ vegetarian diet. They offered a vegan G/F curry that wasn’t on the menu. It was delicious, as were the rest of my family’s meals. The system in place was very effective to ensure customer safety and social distancing. The young lady ( Abbie) that delivered the meals was also very friendly and extremely helpful. We’ll definitely be visiting again! Thanks!

We were starving and called in on spec. Luckily there was a spare table. Covid measures are easy to follow and logical.Menu is shorter than normal but still enough to choose from. We had the burger and scampi, it was a normal wait and food was served hot. It is the usual pub grub and filled us up nicely. As it was a Tuesday in August so we had the government discount along with 2 for 1, a real bargain. Staff friendly, I have been finding a number of places where they look at you like you are patient zero carrying the plague, so it was nice to see a smile and a friendly welcome.

Came in last night with my friends, the measures that have been put in place are great having our safety in mind, which is lovely as most places are just a freefall. Food was lovely and hot. All staff very polite and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Decided to try here for food , poor quality, food not very hot, presentation was poor looked as if thrown onto plate ,you dont get your meal brought to you ,they drop it off on another table and you have to fetch it yourself. This is the 1st place I've seen this done.It was two for one meal expensive for the quality. I wont be going back ..☹☹ Certainly wouldn't recommend it!!!!

The food here was very disappointing . Got a very basic meal of a soup and some nachos. Soup portion wouldn’t have even filled a toddler never mind an adult. nachos were disappointing bland and lacked descent toppings! Would favour McDonald’s if got caught waiting for a delayed boat in the future!

Beautiful food, wait wasn't very long even with lots of other tables. Very family oriented and while the pandemic is on every measurement is in place. Very affordable, cosy atmosphere and very friendly staff.

We have just left after a fantastic meal, 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a daft dog! From the minute we arrived everything was so well organised, all covid regulations followed without feeling regimented. They accommodated us and brought water for the dog who settled like he was at home (he is usually a bit bonkers!) Food was lovely, had no beef for the Sunday roast so they substituted with a rump steak! So impressed, thank you x

I ordered the kids chicken nuggets and chips and I would give this a 7/10 the reason for this is the chips were amazing a 10/10 but the nuggets were processed chicken and the batter wasn’t very crispy.

Lovely bar staff rebecca and sophie served me with a smile and they both were very welcoming. Everywhere nice and clean. The one way system helps to keep everyone safe and it works great to. Our food was out very quickly by great staff John and Abby. Kerry were quick to take plates away and kept everywhere nice and clean. 5 star experience well done staff at standing stones. If you're visiting Anglesey I recommend the Standing Stones. Hygiene and covid process were outstanding. The staff wore PPE at all times and all food was delivered to a communal table, they then called you over, so no close contact. When finished you placed empty plates on a different table. Antibacterial hand sanitisers were conveniently placed everywhere, including outside the toilets so no need to worry about touching door handles etc. Only used the loos once and they were being cleaned by a member of staff and it was obvious they were being regularly cleaned, and some sinks were taped off to distance users. They have a strict policy on children not leaving their seats to run around. They had asked 3 families to leave the previous day when parents refused to control their children . I'll definitely be going back. Oh, and food was good

We visited on Friday 21/02/2020 Myself and my husband were visiting our son and daughter in law. We have been to this pub for lunch before and it was lovely. I’m sorry to say though we were very disappointed on this visit. We ordered different toasted sandwiches with chips and a burger. The toasted sandwiches were burnt but they hid it (not very well on the inside ) there was just the smallest amount of cheese just in the middle so was very very dry. Safe to say we didn’t finish. On each of the meals there was literally 7/8 chips. We were very disappointed, on a positive note the lady on the bar (older maybe 50’s?) was absolutely lovely. I’m not sure that that is enough for us to return though I’m sorry. * I did complain but was just told they were short staffed?

Things didn't start well...we called in for dinner after getting off the ferry, before our drive back home. My husband bought drinks at the bar - ordered a coke and received a pepsi, nothing said about not selling coke - personal choice, I find pepsi too gassy and artificial tasting. Then we ordered dinner...specifically asking for no pepper with the halloumi salad. The food arrived - the salad was in a hot bowl (not warm...hot, it was carried from the kitchen with a tea towel!) There were 4 wafer thin pieces of halloumi, cooked to within an inch of their lives, lots of pepper, no oil and vinegar dressing, no grated carrot, no crispy onion bits as described in the menu...and all a bit limp from being in a hot bowl Certainly looked nothing like the refreshing salad detailed in the menu. Got it changed and redone, as asked, without pepper...however there was still some pieces of pepper in the salad (can only assume cross contamination in the food preparation area...or lack of care by the kitchen staff?). My husbands brie and bacon burger was over cooked. Our son's pizza was OK. If we have to come this way again on the ferry, we'll grab a KFC I think.

Absolutely shocking. Just visited the Standing Stones. Was told 30 minutes wait which we accepted. However, having complained on numerous occasions about the wait (after 40 minutes) and being told repeatedly “we’re just plating it up now” our food eventually turned up 55 minutes later. What adds insult to injury is my Brie and bacon burger should never have been served. The burger was burnt to a charred crisp and was topped with a sorry looking raw rasher of bacon! Never visiting again! Try explaining to your 5 and 8 year daughters that 55 minutes will be worth the wait!

This used to be a nice restaurant that I went to with my family frequently but it has got much worse. My recent experience was enough for me to decide to never come again.I ordered a simple burger with some bacon and I got a burnt burger. It looked awful. Even though I hate to waste, I had to ask for a new one. This one was even worse. It was basically cremated and I guess it could have saved money for a funeral, but this was not a cremation ceremony, it was supposed to be a meal. I couldn’t really eat this as I took one bite and it was awful. I also got my replacement burger when everyone else was finishing their meals. This was odd to me as it was very quiet and it took ages. I also had to go up to the bar and take our own forks from the cutlery tray as they forgot to give us forks with our meals even though we reminded them twice. In the end, I got a way better meal, way better customer service and way better experience at KFC.

Went for a drink on a Sunday night. Opening hours were unclear, although Google said 11pm. They called last orders about 8pm, they were cleaning around us, not the most welcoming, said they were being paid until 9pm. Odd but would return maybe on a busier Saturday to try again. No Guinness, had to try their version which was ok.

Can't comment on the rooms but went in for food tonight and it was all outstanding. I tried to find a menu online but for some reason it's not on the hotel website. A couple of us went for the pizza and they were delicious and at a fantastic price. Will definitely be returning to try other things on the menu.

Customer facing staff is key to a pleasurable experience stay at any hotel though staff seemed to be demotivated and seemingly reflected that, in my opinion, of the general managers demeanour. Never had such a cold reception…. anywhere! Shame. Food nice enough as was accommodation. Sadly to add, my car which was parked overnight and was subjected by those who insist on wearing hoodies in the twilight hours collecting car badges by the use of screwdrivers! Not the fault of the hotel but just added to the forgettable experience. Choice is always yours!
