Just had the best curry of my life..... the freshest of ingredients full of flavour and the Garlic naan was out of this world. The service was fast and friendly and very very reasonably priced.... would recommend this restaurant to everyone and can't wait to visit again very soon. Thank you very much.

We recently stayed in Stalbridge in a great Air Bnb and decided to have a takeaway from Saffron.What a great decision.The food was definitely one of the best Indian takeaways we have eaten for a long time.The food was excellent,perfectly cooked & Hot.It was accompanied by a generous,Fresh & Crisp Salad.Sadly not something you would usually get from an Indian Takeaway.Highly recommended and would definitely order again when we are next in the area.Do not be put off by the negative reviews or the appearance of the outside of the building.

Absolutely awful, no seasoning, No friendly greeting, no delicate flavour, not hot, got the order wrong , avoid at all costs,

On arrival this establishment looks rough, as I had pre ordered our meal before collection I had no option but to pick up the meal and hope for the best. The chana massala was off, as soon as you took the lid off the container the putrid smell hit me in the face. The vegetable curry was watery with no substance or taste as was the lamb rogan. The chicken tika had a taste but not that much, the mint sauce was pink! I would advise people NOT to eat from this Indian restaurant if that is what they call it. When I looked around the restaurant, which had no one in it (should of been a clue) it looked shabby and unsavoury. Will not be going back.

Always very welcoming and, thankfully efficient when busy. Good selection of veggie and meat dishes with choice on menu. Delicious chicken tikka masala (if that’s your thing.)

If one is looking for a quality Indian meal in this area I would suggest not coming here, I love this cuisine and have enjoyed it all around the world, but this was the worst ever I have eaten. The chicken cut in small CUBES on the plate was a good Warning to the dish. The sauce was such a combination of flavoures that in my estimation bore little resembelence to the menu description, The overall flavour was in fact somewhat bitter? Beer was good,but value for money ,,,,,, no! Meal taken 25th Feb. JA local

The food is honestly amazing, I 10/10 would recommend. The meat samosas were packed generously, unlike every other Indian takeaway I've been too. And the other food we ordered hd was delicious.

Friendly welcome, waitress was polite and attentive. Good atmosphere, quite busy too. Food took a long time between courses but was reasonably good, although not brilliant. Well priced which helps. Would've given 4 stars for service if it wasn't for the grumpy, rude waiter we had to endure through our visit. Will probably go again but not in any rush to do so.

Went to Saffron restaurant this evening. Had been to their previous restaurant in Henstridge and always had a good meal. Their change of location has not affected the quality of their food, friendliness or service. All remain excellent. Unfortunately, the meal I ordered was more spicy than I realised! Not only did they provide me with some natural yoghurt but when that wasn't enough, they insisted on cooking me a whole new meal that was less spicy!! On chatting to the owner, he wants to update the decor and make the place more inviting, but obviously needs to get established first. Would highly recommended visiting.

We couldn't find anywhere to eat on a Sunday evening and found Saffron by chance. Lovely staff and the food was amazing. Definitely recommend.

Really high quality food, will be back soon and will be spreading the word about this restaurants amazing authentic cuisine, the entrance/outside area could do with a tidy up but it's such a small gripe I still can't give the restaurant any less than 5 stars, great food!

A newly opened restaurant in Stalbridge that is trying very hard to establish itself after the nearby one where they worked, closed down. The entrance could be smarter and they might have a rethink about the interior decor, but these are clearly difficult times and these changes will take time. The food was excellent and the owners are both very friendly and helpful. They are very keen to accommodate any special requests and with this positive attitude, I am confident they can make a success of this place especially with so few dine in Indian / Bangladeshi restaurants in the area. Not yet quite good enough overall for 5*’s but close!

Mixed experience of Saffron. Nice pickle tray, lime pickle very spicy but all in all good. The main courses were hit and miss. Pilau rice was fine, it's rice. Peshwari naan was nice and full, delicious. Sag paneer didn't mix well, spinach was soggy and paneer was dry. Lagan curry was spicy but the overwhelming flavour was just star anise, didn't enjoy it as much as we'd like. Environment wasn't quite right, nearly full for a Wednesday night which was good but the decor itself didn't really suit an Indian restaurant.

We had a marvellous meal here this evening. The food was excellent, the decor and ambience first class as were the attention and service from the staff. All in all this is a splendid addition to the dining options in the region. Highly recommended.

Wow! What a really tasty and flavourful curry, large portions (enough to take away for our lunch tomorrow... Bonus!) and a very attentive waiter. We will return.

Are the owners trying to drive it into redevelopment as other than a pub? I have no information on this but there seem to have been so many short term landlords with long gaps over the last few years (and hence no income for the owners) that it is difficult to understand. What a shame - it could be good again.

This Public house has yet again closed its doors to the public. A real shame as the last landlords tried to make ago of it but the brewery were yet again greedy

Recently ate here with a group of work friends - found the staff very accommodating and the food was lovely. It's been a while since i last visited but I certainly will be doing so again in the near future :)

Was in the area with a few friends and was recommended by a local... was not disappointed! brilliant choice of specials and a good looking, polite landlady too! good value for money and the food was very tasty and will come back if im ever in the area again.

Burnt toast, over cooked steak, no sauses, flavourless fish. Tinfoil wrap in food, lasagna was unrecognisable, and puddings out of stock! All pre booked, slow service, no apologies made! Well not be returning!

Que cada vez es más difícil encontrar un pub razonable para almorzar alrededor de Sturminster Newton. Pubs cambian de manos con frecuencia y la comida va hacia arriba y hacia abajo. Existen más lejanos así Gastropubs todo lo que pedimos es bien preparado, a un precio razonable la clásica comida de pub para un almuerzo informal más bien cuidadas de cerveza y una buena copa de vino. Decoración de buen gusto es una ventaja.

Me daba miedo ir porque había leído otras críticas que dijo muy largas para la comida, pero no esperar tanto. Cuando llegó la comida fue deliciosa y buenas porciones.

Visité por primera vez con la familia después de leer las críticas anteriores. Me alegro tanto de haberlo hecho! El servicio y la comida también. Había una variedad de carne asada o pollo. Todos nos lo pasamos de ternera con patatas asadas, budín de Yorkshire y variedad de verduras. Buena variedad de postres si tienes. Sin duda volveremos.

Estamos muy contentos de que por fin tiene un gran Stalbridge lugar para comer de nuevo, nos hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos y la comida era excelente... Usted sólo tiene que probar sus patatas fritas triple preparado son increíbles!!!!

It's great to have a place to eat in Stalbridge offering good food at reasonable prices with very friendly and efficient service. Arron and Julie and their family who run the pub have brought it back to life and it is now a pleasure to visit. My wife and I have eaten there on a few occasions recently and have thoroughly enjoyed the food and the overall experience. Highly recommended!

Fuimos a el Stalbridge armas para el almuerzo del domingo, después de que nos dijeron lo bueno que era por otros sabemos de la ciudad. Los tres de nosotros todo tenía carne asada, que era excelente, y el servicio era perfecto. El pub tenía un gran ambiente, y todo el personal fue muy amable. Es fantástico ver este lugar prósperas, que es todo a la dura labor de este equipo de familia ... y un excelente chef!

We visited today as a group of 6 one of which was a child. The service was fantastic and the food was amazing and great value. I would happily recommend the chocolate fudge cake to quote my 4 year old "it was the most ginormous chocolate cake he'd ever see and yummy!" It was great to see the pub so busy with both people eating and drinking in the bar. We will be back.

We came to this pub for Sunday lunch with a group of friends. In the car park, a fence was on the ground & looked as though it'd been there for a few weeks, in fact it made the place look a bit untidy. The pub itself is pleasant enough & the staff polite. The food though did leave a little bit to be desired. There was a choice of pork or beef, I had pork. There wasn't that much meat on the plate & it came with two fairly large "roast" potatoes which seemed to have been "roasted" in the deep fat fryer. One of the potatoes was hard & inedible, one of the other people that I know of also had the same experience with one of their spuds. The veg was OK & the pudding very nice. Overall, with a bit of extra care with details & a bit more meat on the plates, it would have been reasonable, but at the moment, there's room for improvement.

After some time being shut and with a couple of previous tenants the arms had lost its charm but now it's back to its old self. We have visited for an evening meal three times in the the last four weeks and each time the food has been superb. Last night I had sea bass in a crayfish and saffron sauce and it was divine, far better than I would expect from a pub, worthy in fact of a top class seafood restaurant. It's great to have our local back on form!

Went there for lunch on Sunday. Good meal, wine and service. The daily specials menus looked good too. Bar and restaurant busy, lots of atmosphere and as fast as people left others replaced them in the restaurant. For the 21/2 years we have lived in the town The Stalbridge Arms has either been closed or saddled with interim managers. Now it has a family as tennants and they are making a real go of it. They really do deserve to succeed and on this evidence they will. Let's hope so. We will certainly return.

visited today for lunch with family. Lovely friendly atmosphere and welcome from locals and staff alike. Food was absolutely delicious. Cooked to order so very fresh. Very generous portions too. We probably won't have to eat again until Sunday! Well worth a visit. You won't be disappointed. we would like to wish them good luck for a successful future. They deserve it. Wish it was my local!

Attended the Stalbridge Arms for New Years eve where we had dinner. The food was fresh, delicious, extremely generous portions & good value. What topped off the evening was the atmosphere created by new landlady & landlord Julie & Aaron who went out of their way to make everyone feel welcome & special. Would recommend to all!

The Stalbridge Arms is under new management and what an amazing transformation. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending the food which is very competitively priced and excellent value but most important is the atmosphere and level of service. You are made to feel so very welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Make a visit you won't be disappointed :)

Lunch time visit to The Stalbridge Arms, the pub has been refurbished, and has a new landlord and landlady. The food is very good, I have the fish and chips, the chips were hand cut and some of the best chips I have had in a long time, the fish was succulent and batter very crispy, came with peas and tartare sauce, some of the best fish and chips I have eaten in a long time.I had the cheesecake to follow, nice desert, came with cream.The whole pub and dining experience was great, was a family meal and everyone's food looked great.

The new family that have taken over the Stalbridge Arms are here to stay! The food is excellent - absolutely delicious and excellent value for money. We have eaten there twice this week and it would be difficult to beat. Just what Stalbridge has needed and we look forward to our next visit. Julie and Arron are so welcoming as are the rest of the family.

This poor, lovely, pub has a chequered history. Owned by an investment co., most recent landlord didn't survive...so they've now put a caretaker manager in. Check first to see what food is being offered... I wish it luck, hence the 5 grading.

Food was very good quality and big portions, but expensive for what they were. They bought out our steaks, then we had a wait for the salad, and then another wait for the chips which we thought they had forgotten. Once the meal was over and we had the bill we were told the card machine wasn't working so we'd have to pay cash, none of us had cash and we weren't told before we ordered. We were told 'There's a cash point up the road'! And it's always nice to hear the chefs swearing at each other at the bar!

My family had a fantastic Sunday lunch here last week. The new landlord and lady were very welcoming. All 7 of us cleaned our plates. Perfect grub with spot on portions sizes and i am a massive foody and cant stand paying for food cooked poorly. So i totally recommend Sunday lunch at Stalbridge Arms.. book a table ! Lovely grub, good wine, skittles and a games of pool. What more do you need.

We hadnt had a great visit before, but finding out there were new owners we gave it another go. Vast improvement, they have really turned it around, nice menu, the surroundings were never a problem, but at least the tables were clean this time, previous owners didnt seem to care, Thumbs up all round, will be coming again!

My wife and I returned here for lunch after a 10 mile walk. Although not a particularly attractive pub, it does serve food until 3pm, which is great for us walkers. The menu is average for a pub and generally OK. I had steak and chips served with an attractively presented side salad. At £9.95 I thought this represented good value. The landlord and his wife were friendly and offered extremely good and attentive service.

We had a table booked for 6, and the table was dirty and sticky, we asked for it to be cleaned, they did, the only saving grace was the food was ok, shame it was ruined by someone laying the table before cleaning it!

Had a great luchtime meal at the stabridge arms, friendly staff, very attentative and helpful. Good selection of beer. Good choice of food freshly cooked. large eating area ideal for small and large party groups. Cozy area with sofas by a fire. Skittle alley at back of pub with evening entertinment.

Arrived quite late on Sunday lunchtime. Good welcome, fire, tables beer and food .......whats not to like! The buiding was quite interesting. Usual selection of beers with odd names. Standard pub food but served with a genuine smile and tasty. We could have eaten from the Christmas menu but didn't. Would happily go again.

We came here for a family meal a few weeks back after hearing good things. The pub was clearly popular and already lively when we turned up and although the new owners were busy they found us a quieter spot. Food was prompt and tasty. As a previous reviewer pointed out, the food is standard fare rather than gastro, but as a family of vegetarians we all had different meals which represents quite a lot of choice in my experience!Can definitely recommend a warm welcome here.

This pub has recently changed hands so decided to look at reviews on trip advisor before booking.Reviews seemed to be very good so we booked and took some friends with us. We were quite disappointed, the menu was very basic and limited on choice and although we ate our main courses our vegetables were cold and undercooked. The staff were very friendly but not much in attendance. I must admit that it was very reasonable on price but overall would say that it would be best suited to a lunchtime snack rather than an evening meal.( pub grub not a restaurant meal )

Sue and (super) Tony are the lovely landlady and landlord of this fab pub. Enjoyed a super Ploughmans at lunchtime today. Can't wait to go back......skittle alley out the back :) Some big plans ahead for them, looking forward to seeing them completed. Recommend it highly.

Our family group of six adults enjoyed a great lunch here on 22 August 2013. The extensive menu included vegetarian choices and were served promptly and in ample portions. The staff were really friendly and efficient. This little known establishment - recently re-opened under new management, deserves much success. We will certainly give it a try any time we are in the area.

We ate here yesterday and what a lovely experience. The staff were really friendly and polite. The menu was perfect,had a good variety at great prices. I've heard it has just reopened and I really hope it does well as it really deserves to. Fab food,great location and friendly staff,what more could you ask for.

I can highly recommend this pub. We went there with our two children (aged 10 & 2) a couple of days ago and were instantly made to feel welcome by the great friendly staff. A deal on the menu meant the kids ate free, including dessert and kids drinks come with unlimited refills. While we waited for the food we made use of the big family games room at the back, mainly the (free) traditional skittles alley which the kids loved. Great food, great games room and excellent staff. A real pub with character in a world of identikit chains.

Sadly, this establishment is no longer in business despite rave reviews. What a shame :(There was a chalkboard outside saying 'so sorry, we are longer in business'.

This is a friendly and welcoming pub that has recently been refurbished. It has a very nice atmosphere and really good real ales from the Piddle Brewery.Seating, a pool table, a comfy seated area nest to a fire and food.A little gem.
