The Coppleridge Inn in North Dorset

Booked on line a table for six had to call next day as still didn't receive confirmation but they apologised as had a wedding on and needed to check with the chef.Service was slow and we had to remind them for water on the table the food howeialthough menu bit limited was very good and price wise we thought was reasonable.

We had a family Sunday roast here the weekend before last. The staff were perfect! Attentive but not too much, the food was lovely by far the best roast we have had put in a long time and we eat out most Sundays.

Third time we've stayed on route from Suffolk to Cornwall. Lovely location. Dog friendly. Excellent service. Super rooms... very comfortable. Wonderful service and great breakfast.

We visited today, Sunday without a booking and were grateful to be seated next to the window in the main bar. The Sunday lunches were excellent; we had two.meals, beef and pork. The choice and portions of veg were excellent and the meats on both of our plates were succulent and tender. The front of house team was kept busy but were polite, attentive and efficient throughout. A most enjoyable visit, we will return in due course. We did return and we were delighted that our first visit wasn't a "one-off". The food and service were again excellent, we highly recommend the Coppleridge Inn.

We came here for a quiet weekend away. The location is beautiful! Gorgeous views from every angle of the inn. The room was so comfortable and cozy, and the bathroom was lovely and clean. Michael and all the staff were the kindest bunch and were really helpful. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a scenic little getaway!

We came as a family of 8 for Sunday lunch. The food was absolutely delicious and portions were huge. The service was attentive without being intrusive, the atmosphere was lovely and relaxed. Overall a really lovely meal in a really lovely place.

Lovely venue. The breakfast was amazing and the waitress who served us was brilliant. The only downside was the moths in the wardrobe. Apart from that everything else was superb.

My husband and I got married here last June. It was the most magical day. The staff were all amazing and worked so hard to make our day just the way we wanted. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and we got married out in the woods in an arbor with the sun shining and birds singing. We returned for our 1st anniversary. We had a wonderful roast dinner and breakfast and everyone remembered us. I want to say a huge thank you to Tina, Graham and Micheal and all the staff who once again made our stay amazing. I would recommend it as a wedding venue. We will be back to visit and the venue will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you once again.

Stayed with my father and golden retriever dog. This was our third visit and we will be back again soon. Set in beautiful Dorset countryside, the Inn is perfectly located for exploring the region. The Twin room was spacious, clean and had everything you need for a pleasant stay in the country. Breakfast was exceptional and the staff our always on hand to enhance your stay.

We booked in advance, and were not told about a larger booking. We had to wait an hour for the food, which there was no warning provided when we arrived or while we had to wait, and then had a further wait to pay due to a technical problem. Together with the moderate modern club music, it was not a good experience and will not be going back.

We attended a wedding on Saturday we stayed overnight in a lovely room very spacious comfortable and clean. The breakfast on Sunday was very good plenty of food choices. Very reasonably priced Inn for accommodation food and drinks. Staff were all very polite and helpful, a special thanks to Michael for going above and beyond. Would definitely recommend this establishment.

We had a wonderful day for our wedding and reception in September 2023. The venue, marquee, staff, food and service were amazing, they couldn't do enough for us. So many of our guests have commented on the lovely location and marvellous food. Thank you all for such a special day with a loud shout out for Michael who was brilliant!! Lovely rural pub... Happy hour on a Friday in summer is an absolute hit with live music... 2 for the price of 1...can't go wrong.

Sadly had a really disappointing Sunday lunch really slow and poor quality service . Really basic service should be standard in any establishment . Had to ask several times for cutlery . We waited An hour for a burger then to be told they didn’t have any . Roast was cold . Manager was rude to his staff and it’s an amazing venue but very low standard .

Absolutely lovely place! We have spent three nights in a gorgeous room with big bathroom. The only "noise" during night were the surrounding sheep... 😉 The landlord and -lady were superfriendly, the breakfast was completly fresh made. Sorry that the restaurant was only open one evening, but the food was delicious.

Pretty pub, but why on EARTH are your disabled toilets down a flight of stairs? EDIT: Instead of using defensive language, why not have better signage?

We arrived for my husbands birthday meal, the greeting was lovely, we were taken to our table, also we were lucky on this evening as it was a happy hour so it was buy one get one free to celebrate an award they had won, we ordered our meals, starters were delicious, and the waitress were lovely asked a few times of everything was ok, our mains arrived and hand on heart I can say it’s the best steak I have had in a very long time, it just melted in my mouth, and my husband enjoyed his cottage pie too, would recommend eating here 100% and also special place here as it’s where we got married too.

We had booked to come here for our Christmas dinner on Christmas Day …. £95 a head for 3 courses ( same price for my 12 year old son ) …..We arrived at 12:30 .. All started out well … complimentary glass of fizz , canapés …. Myself and my mum were having a starter but not my husband and son … starters were nice and hot ….. then 2 hours later our main meals finally came out …. No explanation as to why they took 2 hours …. Came out just about warm , no extra gravy or even a cranberry sauce … waitresses/waiters were not attentive at all …. Then another hour went by after we had eaten the Luke warm main as we were all so hungry …. Still no sign of our desserts …. Asked for a coffee for my mum ….. we were told desserts would be another 10 minutes ….. then 10 minutes went by ( still no sign of coffee either ) and the icing on the cake was the people on the table behind us ( who had arrived 2 hours after us !) were served their deserts and we still hadn’t had ours !! My husband wanted us to walk out but I went to the bar to tell the landlord we were going as we had now been here nearly 4 hours ,it was Christmas Day , we had family coming and we were still waiting for our desserts / coffee etc ….. he said they are coming now …. No apologies or explanation as to why we had waited 2 hours for our main or any the deserts has taken 1.5 hours ….. he offered me 20 % off of our bill and vouchers to come back and eat another time which I turned down ! We were so disappointed…. It was Christmas Day and you expect a bit of luxury of eating out at that price per head or at least some decency to keep you informed if issues were happening or the chance to leave and only pay for what you’d eaten …..but to be left for hours , not even a complimentary drink whilst you wait 2 hours for your turkey ! Not impressed and we won’t be visiting again !

We went to The Coppleridge Inn for our work Christmas meal and we all had SUCH a good time. We'd been there a couple of years ago and had requested a certain room which was given to us. The place had been really nicely decorated for Christmas and there was an open fire warming the room. The service was very polite and we got everything as ordered with zero mistakes. We'd had to amend our booking a couple of times and they were very understanding. And the food was fantastic - we had the three course Christmas meal and not a single complaint amongst the group. We had such a good time that we think we're going to make it a tradition to go to The Coppleridge for all future work Christmas dos. Thank you!!

We stayed at The Coppleridge during the first weekend of December. This particular weekend was very cold and we were looking forward to getting to our room to warm up and be cosy with our 3 children. Very disappointed to discover the room was freezing cold, turned the thermostat up and went for food in the hope it would warm up. Told the gentleman serving in the pub how cold it was in our room. The room was still freezing when we returned after food and we were unable to bath our children that night or the following morning as it was so cold! However, the food at the pub was delicious as was the breakfast both mornings. We had hoped to see someone at breakfast to say how cold it had been during the night but only the chef was about. It was a lot warmer though when we returned on the Saturday night. Good location, good value for money, delicious food just a shame it was so cold!

We stayed at The Coppleridge during the first weekend in December. We were only using it as a base as we were out and about during the day. The weather this particular weekend was very cold and we were looking forward to getting into the warm and getting cosy. We were very disappointed when we got to our room that it was absolutely freezing inside the room. We found the thermostat and turned it up and went for food in the hope it would be warmer when we got back. Unfortunately it was still freezing cold when we got in over an hour later. We did tell the gentleman in the pub it was cold but there was nobody about the following morning except the chef to report to. We were unable to bath our children that night and the following morning as it was too cold! When we we returned the following evening it was thankfully much warmer. I don’t understand why the heating hadn’t been put on when we were booked in and had been for quite some time! However, the food at the pub on the Friday night was delicious as was the breakfast both mornings. As a family of 5 it is difficult to find somewhere we don’t need to book extra rooms. This was a great location and price just a shame it was so cold the first night. If it had been the second night, we would have gone home!

Why oh why do these pubs ruin a nice experience by adding the so-called discretionary tip automatically to the bill without asking first. It ruins the whole occasion as you have to either accept this dodgy practice without complaint or spoil the end of the meal by asking it to be removed. The sooner this practice is abandoned the better and these places leave it to the guest to decide if they want to leave a tip. Aside from that it’s a lovely place with considerate staff even if we were put in an obvious overflow restaurant ( just 3 tables taken and very plain) as there was a big party in the main part bar and restaurant ( something we were not told when we booked). Because of this service was very slow (45 minutes from ordering to getting our meal) but when it arrived it was good. Would love to go again especially if they abandon this tipping rip off.

We arrange a family gathering to celebrate a recent marriage and Tina.together with the team looked after us very well. Everyone enjoyed the evening and food and they catered for those people with special dietary needs. Those people stopping overnight were very happy with their rooms and the hospitality offered.

Lovley family Sunday lunch with lashings of tasty and well presented roast. Awesome bao bun and cheesecake for pudding. Friendly staff in a nice environment. Lovely views from the terrace. Bravo ! Come here, you will have a nice time. There were 8 of us aged for 8 to 80 and we all felt at home.

Thanks to Michael and team for all their endeavours in making the party for 29 guests a memorable occasion. The food was great and atmosphere very relaxed. Friends who did stay over for the night said the rooms were very comfortable.

We stayed at the inn for two nights in late July during our two weeks' stay in the UK. One reason for choosing this inn was its ideal location as a middle point from London to Cornwall, and proximity to Stonehenge. We traveled by car and arrived at the inn without any problem helped by the signs from the A350. The inn is situated in a quiet and rural setting, just what we needed after our stay in London. Our room was spacious and meticulously clean. Some of the facilities were old but very well maintained. We had dinner at both nights in the conservatory. They have a reasonably extensive menu, and it was easy to find dishes meeting our liking. I particularly enjoyed the ribeye steak with peppercorn sauce. It seemed that their were many guests for dinner as well as staying, but the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Compared with Oxford and other tourist destinations, we thought the prices for the food and accommodation quite reasonable. We will definitely revisit on our next visit to the UK.

The Coppleridge Inn hosted a weaving workshop for a small group. Graham and Michael were very friendly and happy to help with anything we needed. The sandwiches, teas and coffees were very enjoyable. I wouldn't hesitate recommending the Coppleridge as a venue - I will definitely go back.

We booked a table for a group of four at 6.30pm. On arrival we were shown into the empty restaurant and asked if we had booked. We were then asked if we would like to see the menu - strange!! The waitress returned with two menus, and said she only had two as all the rest had disappeared. One of the menus she presented to us looked as if it had been used to wipe the floor, wet, soggy and smudged. Each of us ordered something different. Two of the meals were good the other two were not. We told the waitress that one of the meals was really not good. The waitress offered to have it replaced. My wife suggested that rather than replacing it, it might be better to adjust the bill. Five minutes later the waitress returned and handed my wife the bill. When asked what was this for, the waitress said; "you asked for the bill". There was then the most bizzare and unprofessional exchange with the waitress saying yes you did and my wife saying no I didn't. I took the bill to the bar and asked to talk to the manager. The manager was actually serving behind the bar. When I started to explain what the issue was he became very defensive and rude to the point of ignorance. He said that he and the chef had 'inspected' my wife's returned meal and there was nothing wrong with it. He also started bleating that the waitress was only a young girl, she had just taken he exams that afternoon..... as if any of this was of interest to me! To be honest this was the most unprofessional exchange I have ever had in a pub and or restaurant. When I asked if he was going to listen to me his attitude was one of couldn't care less. When I suggested that I would be leaving a negative feedback he then suddenly suggested that we may be able to resolve this. Unfortunately for him he had already completely alienated me with his child like behaviour. I said I would leave a negative review and his exact words were; "Knock yourself out". Almost in disbelief I said we will not be back again to which he replied; " You brought it here" - whatever that means! On the positive side during our previous visit we had asked for a wedding brochure as my Niece is getting married next year and we were considering this as a potential venue. So glad we can now scrub this place as a venue. Well done Mr Manager.

Great place for family 60th wedding anniversary party. Staff laid out two alternative rooms to eat, as it was a hot day, and they gave us more space. Lovely lazy lunch, service outstanding. Food excellent. Would recommend for any party/family gatherings.

A real gem. Beautiful hotel with lovely gardens and scenery. We only stayed for 1 night but the room was lovely, the bed was the most comfortable bed we've ever slept on. We even contacted the hotel when we got back to ask for the make of the mattress! Very friendly staff and a great full English breakfast. Would definitely recommend.

Serving staff very friendly and helpful, food basic pub standard. Although the cider battered haddock is really not a good choice, the batter is turmeric and very yellow and tastes of it. The fish should be the main event, it is not, if you like chips then you are in luck they are ok but seriously! The chips are 3 times the size of the fish and at £16+ well under value. Lastly the payment, the serving manager was great the (assuming) manager could not careless and had no interest in the complaints raised from our table (16) so charged full price. This is not about price it is sub standard food and attitude, also we are giving this place a 2nd chance following a bad experience previously.

We have been regulars at this pub. Not anymore. I’m sure the keyboard warrior manager will explain why. Always seems to come up with excuses for poor staff and equally poor service. Perhaps it stems from the top.

We had our daughter's wedding reception at the Coppleridge this weekend. The Inn is in an absolutely stunning location with beautiful views. The accommodation around the venue is spacious, clean and very comfortable. Michael, Graham and their team were absolutely brilliant, nothing was too much trouble and they took great care to make sure our day was perfect. The food for the wedding breakfast was plentiful and delicious as was the breakfast this morning. Thank you very much to all at The Coppleridge!

We chose this Inn to stay for 2 nights while we visted relatives in nearby Gillingham. Staying at Coppleridge was a delight. The room in the old stables wing was comfortable and well appointed with a wonderful view across the green downs. Michael, the manager, could not have been more charming and accommodating, and the young staff in the restaurant were attentive, polite and efficient. We enjoyed the full English breakfast both mornings and dinner both evenings. The quality and presentation of the meals were excellent. In particular, the Eton Mess with fresh berries and real cream and delightfully light meringue was a highlight.
