An excellent venue to meet friends for an evening meal.

Very nice interior. English pub, but with a hint of personality. Delicious food. Welcoming staff. Would definitely come back there.

Went for lunch. Welcomed warmly. Seated quickly with a smile. Drinks taken and menu explained. Allergy requirements asked about. So far, so good. Ordered the famous steak and Ale pie x2. Well it's as good as it has been on previous visits. Tasty with plenty of meat, succulent chunks. Served with chips and peas. Service quick and very pleasing. The drink was Black Sheep, and others are available. So will I visit again? Yes. Guess what I'll order.

Visited in a Sunday, it was very busy , with some large parties of people eating. Which put pressure on the waiting staff , so there was some small delays in getting food. Also one order was wrong, however the food was outstanding and the atmosphere was good. The pub is larger than it looks and sprawls off in many direction as does the car park. We'll worth a visit

Had a wake here not so long ago and thought what a lovely place. So decided to go back and have a meal there, 4 of us. 2 of us had pheasant and 2 opted for the pork...all enjoyed the food. Beer was different though, I really enjoyed the "Neck Oil" and brother in law enjoyed his "black sheep". We sat in what they called the cellar, really nice set up. Staff pleasant and attentive, price overall ok. All had afters, thoroughly enjoyed. Sorry no pics

We booked Sunday lunch. Staff friendly but I did not think the main course was up to much. Brocoli looked as if it had been cooked several days earlier the roast potatoes were tough on the outside and in general the food was not very warm. It will be a long time before we visit again.

Really enjoyed our meals here and there's plenty of parking. The swordfish was excellent and there are a wide variety of beers on tap. Will definitely be back!

A beautiful old pub in an attractive village that serves really good food but on this occasion a friend and I visited for drinks. The place has a lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff... Our previous visit to this was a few weeks before and the food was excellent. Overall very impressed.

We had a family meal. I must say I can't fault anything. The food was delicious and the staff were very helpful, always there I'd we needed anything. We shall be going back.

A blast from the past, last visited some 30 years ago. Staff were friendly, ale was reasonably priced and the atmosphere was very seasonally focused. A great little pub in a lovely little village.

The ambiance, decor, and friendly staff create a pleasant setting with a charming beer garden and an extensive drink selection. However, my experience with the Fish & Chips left me somewhat disappointed. The dish arrived with an unusual presentation—a Jenga block of partially cooked chips—and the beer-battered cod lacked flavor. The dessert, particularly the "jug" of custard, was comical, presented in the worlds smallest jug, which was quite disappointing. In pubs, patrons typically expect hearty, rustic fare with generous portions, and I found this aspect lacking. The others seemed to enjoy their meals more than me - think I chose the short straw.

Sunday lunch. I shared the platter for two with my wife and we couldn't finish the food, but managed the brownie for dessert. Lovely, friendly staff.

The Stags Head held my mothers Wake after her sad passing. They did and amazing job from start to finish very caring and empathetic, nothing was too much trouble for them thanks to Demi and Kelly on the day. Amazing job

What a wonderful pub, popped in for a lunch. Met by the most welcoming of staff, the food from a not the usual pub grub menu was delicious. I can and will recommend this as it turns a historic pub to everyone, it was so good I booked a Sunday lunch 2 days later - All I can say is Amazing!!!

We walked in without a booking about 3.30pm and managed to get a seat straight away. Very friendly staff. We ordered a sharing platter of roast beef/pork and turkey. The roast spuds were to die for as was the gravy. The vegetables including the cauliflower cheese were delicious. Would definitely go again

Wow! After 'borrowing' a family dog today to walk around Sywell Park (and a quick Google search) we found this gem of a place. On entering, we were greeted by the very friendly and welcoming bar man. We found a table and we're given menus. Dog friendly it said - well that's an understatement. Dogs have their own menu and in turn, each of our three servers who attended our table made a fuss of our dog. He was given a bowl of water and his meal ordered along with our own selection of 6 Tappetizers. Although the service felt a little slow our food was absolutely delicious and cannot be faulted in any way. It was served hot and in good quantities. So very glad we found this place with a large car park and contemporary decor. It is clean and modern. An absolute delight. Thank you to both management and staff - we will be back soon.

Beer battered fish was so light and tasty. Puree pees delicious! Loved the Jenga chips! Coronation chicken sandwich very tasty with lovely soft white tiger bread. Draught Doom Bar superb! Staff very pleasant. Will be back!

We found ourselves at The Stag's Head in Great Doddington last Sunday and what a delightful experience it was. My wife and I indulged in the Sunday roasts - I savored the roast pork with crispy crackling while she enjoyed a tender roast turkey. The roasts were accompanied by a selection of fresh vegetables, homemade stuffing, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, and a bowl of rich, flavorful gravy. The kids weren’t left behind; they happily tucked into their pizzas from a kid-friendly menu. The attentive and friendly service added to the warm ambiance of this old-style, character-filled building. It's the kind of place where every corner has a story to tell. We wholeheartedly recommend The Stag’s Head to anyone in the Wellingborough, Northamptonshire area. It's a place where good food and friendly faces await. We're already looking forward to our next visit!

What a wonderful Sunday lunch experience! The staff couldn't have been more welcoming. Every single member of staff was helpful, smiley and just absolutely lovely. They were also really attentive and fun with my 8 year old daughter despite being busy with some big parties. Due to one of our party having a dairy allergy, they double checked with the chef what she could safely eat. This was greatly appreciated. The food was reasonably priced and delicious. The brownie was incredible. Thank you! It's been a long time since we had such first class service.

Lovely restaurant with good food and service

Very friendly welcome and a lovely looking pub and restaurant. The food was very good but the service was lacking a bit. Ordered wine when the mains came out and they turned up after we had finished which was disappointing Did also see someone go to the bar rather than use the waitresses. I think it needs more attentive drinks waiters bit cannot criticise the food at all,it was very good

We live in Barton , never been to the stags head , doddington . We went on a Thurs at 5.30, very quiet, just opened I believe. Lovely pub, welcoming pretty lady. Food was amazing can't wait to go back. Highly recommended. 5x ⭐

Another visit to the Stags head" in Doddington this time for my father in laws birthday. This place never disappoints me. 3 courses consumed and washed down with a couple of beers. Lovely. We will be back again x

The Pub itself is a piece of art,lovely staf, garden, street view, big car park, lovely design inside. I didn't try the food, but i heard it is delicious. Staff are very friendly and helpful . Great variety of lagers and beers, local beers, and other soft drinks . Inside on a very hot day is like an oasis in the desert, thanks to the air conditioning. Lovely pub, i will definitely go again, especially to try the food too. I will update this review with food information later on. I hope it was helpful for you. Let me know in a comment. Friends came from Glasgow to celebrate anniversary,they eat regularly in top restaurants in Glasgow and rated The Stags head as one of the best meals they have had,service was great and atmosphere good, we really enjoyed our dinner.Definitely will be back .

We stopped on the way to Huntingdon, for a light lunch. Lovely pub/restaurant. We were just after usual finishing time for lunch but one of the staff said she should be able to get the chef to feed us! We chose turkey & stuffing, and halloumi & onion chutney, both open on sourbread. Plus chips! They came beautifully presented with pea shoots and leaves, and the turkey had delicious dripping gravy to pour over. Both were superb and although "open" were easy to eat as the bread was crispy and soft - perfect! But, in addition, the chips were delicious! Home-made and probably 2 or 3 times fried. Without doubt as good as the best pub sandwiches we've ever had! The service was great, always with a smile. If the main menu is as good, it would be well worth trying! Highly recommended.

Once again returned to The Stag for delicious Sunday lunch & meet up with sisters. The staff are always welcoming,helpful,on the ball & absolutely amazing. I bought my dog 🐕 along this time they went out of their way to accommodate us & the dog. 🤩 I highly recommend a visit to this pub, each time we’ve visited it gets a 10/10 from us. We held Dad's wake at the pub recently. From the moment we made contact to book a table to the moment we left we were treated professionally and compassionately. The service was great and the food was delicious, everyone enjoyed Dad's favourite meal of fish and chips. How on earth you managed to serve 16 portions at the same time I'll never know - well done! Thank you very much for making a very difficult situation a little easier.

The food was lovely and well presented and the service was great.

Firstly it was a Sunday afternoon quite late, hence why atmosphere was 3. The food was absolutely banging, good price too. Quick service and food was hot as in just out of the oven hot. Great place for a family Sunday lunch, also place is very dog friendly. Sit in the garden to soak up some rays on the pallet made sofas is a good touch.

Sunday lunch was lovely!! We didn't realise they had forgotten our Yorkshire puddings till we had nearly finished!! I only realised because I saw someone else's lunch being brought out and saw them! They said we can have 2 next time.

I went here for a 50 year young birthday treat. The reasons I was disappointed was the discrepancies on the menu. Firstly the Wagu burger is described on the menu as "Served in a brioche bun", however it was served in what appeared to be a "Pretzel bun". Secondly and more importantly, my father ordered the Black and Blue burger (Blackened onions and Blue cheese) thinking that blackened may be extra caramelised. After only tasting a loose onion on his plate he immediately started complaining about how spicy it was, even to the point of saying that it was vile. When the host returned to the table we asked the host if the onions had chilli in them. The host needed to read the menu to see if chilli was indeed mentioned (which it wasn't). The host then needed to go to the kitchen and ask the chef if chilli was used. The chef confirmed that the onions were in fact cooked in a Cajun spice blend including chilli. My father doesn't have an allergy to spice merely a lack of tolerance. The hosts were brilliant, and immediately offered an alternative meal for him and this obviously had to be cooked fresh however put a dampener on an otherwise nice occasion. In fairness and for clarity, the business owner had asked us beforehand if we had any allergies. What I find so frustrating and annoying is the lack of attention to detail and the pretentious and flowery use of wording often used in menus, for example "Blackened" used here in this establishment and the classic "Lasagna Alforno" NOT used HERE but in many other places, when "Alforno" means cooked in an oven, how else do you cook lasagna?. The point that I am making is this, it turns out that "Blackened" is a technique used in Cajun Cuisine THAT USES SPICES INCLUDING CHILLI. For anyone reading this far I am a classically trained chef who believes menus should be simple to read without the silly pretentious and flowery wording. Say what it is, because it is what it is. When an establishment can make two fundamental mistakes on one items menu description (Bun and Chilli), I will skip a second visit as a just in case measure. On another note the building is lovely but the toilets are in need of an update. The staff were very welcoming, however it appears that this pub and restaurant is a key place to have a funeral wake due to its proximity to the Crematorium and Cemetery, so be prepared for lots of black clothes (customers and staff) and a mildly subdued visit.

Mothers day meal on the Saturday evening. All 3 meals were superb and service impeccable, highly recommend.

Staff seem friendly however the food was terrible, I ordered the chef’s special mixed grill. The steak was as tough as a old horses saddle the chips aren’t chips, just hot skin on potato slices. Never again!

Very disappointed with my experience here,came with family,menu looked great unfortunately the starters was so small £7-8 on starters basically get 5 prawns and 4 meatballs the little bowls the starter came in was ridiculous,I ordered the mushroom ravioli with garlic bread when they placed the food in front off me all I could smell was burnt toast I tried the bread but was basically burnt so I asked the waitress for my bread to be changed while eating the ravioli it was cold and the ravioli tasted like paste i so wished I never ordered it and by the time they said your bread will be out soon I just stopped eating I never got a apology for the bread even though having to to pay £14.50 for cold ravioli and burnt bread,felt like that staff couldn’t care,also halfway through our meal a cat was roaming the restaurant,totally disappointed will not be going back even though it’s now part of our local having just moved to the area.
