Management is not welcoming and awfully rude! I had helped these three women into the pub and had let them know there is a disability route into the pub due to one woman struggling with the steps into the pub. Due to working there previously i had the knowledge of the pubs entrances and exits. They had accidentally mistaken me that i worked there but i had made it clear i didn’t work there and was wearing my own work uniform which is completely different to the stags uniform. I had then got told to move where i was originally sat due to the three ladies thinking i worked there, i can understand the misunderstanding of staff however this was said in such a rude spiteful manner. I had also came in another time before work and had overheard this lady with dark/highlighted hair to all the staff saying to completely ignore me and that they should not speak to me. She had tried to discreetly say this up in the conservatory however i had heard the whole conversation with being down at the bar. This is completely disgusting and disrespectful towards customers. Used to be such a lovely welcoming pub with all staff being chatty and welcoming to all customers. This is clearly not the case anymore. Massively disappointing.

Came in for a sunday lunch with family, was very disappointed. Used to be such a reliable place for a sunday lunch alongside lovely owners and staff. All staff looked joyful and managers were always lovely and chatty however that is now not the case unfortunately. Portion sizes have gotten smaller including the standard of the food. Such a shame that the stags standards has gone down hill since reopening. 1 waitress was lovely, we were sat in the conservatory, she catered to our every need! However we had heard a woman shouting at staff which is an awful look on the pub and were concerned for other staff. Really hope they take feedback seriously and turn this place back to how it was.

The portion of food is really small for its price and the taste is bland as well. We ordered 2 main dishes, sea bass and chicken, and a crab cake starter with a pot of tea and a glass of red wine It costs nearly £60 not fulfilling or satisfying with the taste.

Overpriced pub food, cooked without any degree of imagination. Please, if someone is paying for food they deserve better than a basic burger and frozen chips and little more. There is a lot of choice in and around Leamington, and I don't want to eat something that I could have cooked with a lot more care at home: That's a waste of money and an utterly pointless use of my time! Pub classics don't have to be this dull.

We hadn't realised that The Stag had been taken over when we booked for Sunday lunch. Whilst the pub is still nice and the staff are friendly, the food was really disappointing, especially compared to how it was previously. We didn't think the value for money was great and honestly, the food just didn't taste that great. It's such a shame as this used to be our favourite place locally for Sunday lunch.

I'm genuinely gutted about The Stag since the change in management. Their roast dinners used to be excellent - a real highlight that I regularly recommended to friends and family. My recent visit was thoroughly disappointing. For £18, I received a noticeably smaller portion than before, and the quality simply wasn't there. The food lacked the care and attention to detail that made it special previously. What used to be a reliable spot for a delicious Sunday lunch just isn't good value for money anymore. I truly hope the new owners take customer feedback seriously and make the necessary changes to restore The Stag to its former glory. Such a shame to see a local favorite decline like this.

Couldn't fault anything about this place and we will book and return with family in near future. THIS HAS NOW CLOSED. So all reviews prior to 12/01/25 would be redundant 🤔

We both ordered red bream from the specials board and were served a small overcooked fish with soggy skin on a colossal bed of half squashed grey-green marrowfat peas with a small bowl of flaccid skin-on potato in the shape of fries. No cruet and nothing seasoned. As it was put down we just felt disappointment. Like receiving a school dinner. We've never complained about food before and should have, but ate it and left. We were asked what we thought but were too shy, apparently this was a new dish, I said that it wasn't what we expected, I should have said, yeah, don't serve this again! I'm only fessing up now because Google keeps asking for a review! I've been a few times before and the food has been great so I hope it was a one-off. This visit my 94 year old mother decided to fall up a step onto a wooden floor, I cannot praise the staff highly enough for their professionalism and care. The accident book was filled in, they escorted her to the table where they brought within a couple of minutes ice to go on her bruised knees and a cup of black tea with milk and sugar on the side. Absolutely Superb! The team at the Stag hosted our wedding reception and provided the absolute best service and food we could have hoped for. We had 24 guests and we were all seated in the conservatory area. The staff were amazing but the food stole the show. Almost every single guest has approached me to tell me how impressed they were. We had 3 courses and all the food was served to everyone together and it was all hot and fresh. The pub had loads of staff on to help accommodate our party and they were all amazing. One of our guests even bought them all a drink at the end of the night to thank them! Beware the baked Camembert starter, it’s superb but big enough for 2 to share. The steak was easily one of the best I have ever had and all the puddings were or looked delicious and were all generous portions. I think Richard is new to managing the pub and he deserves such high praise. He was brilliant making sure we had everything and everything went to plan and on time. Karen who works in the office was brilliant keeping in touch with me in the weeks up to the event making sure we had everything we needed. The wine was superb, we had about 14 bottles between our party and the primitivo I drank was just perfect. We had a buffet for an extra 20 guests at 8pm in the evening and again it was just superb. We took over the conservatory area for the whole afternoon and evening and the whole event was a solid 10 out of 10. My new. Wife and I want to pass on our heartfelt thanks to the whole team at the stag for making our special day so perfect. Thanks from David and Tina xx

Our first visit. It was chosen by others for a get together. I like the pub, proper old school country pub. The bar staff and servers were all spot on. Sadly I was driving so just water for me which was a pain as they had some good looking beers on offer. We had a table in the dining room which was great as a few of the group were having a serious catch up. The pub was just the job for that. We had a lunch, the food was ok, I can’t praise it more than that. I had belly pork - one of my favourite meals - somehow the rind had gone awol. The meal was ok, but not what I expected. My wife has sea bream which was a little over done. I don’t mean to be too picky because the good bits outweighed the not so good. I’d love to try the ales if I go again.

Saturday night dinner with a couple of friends and from the get go service was slow & staff uninformed. Firstly couldn’t see our reservation - until we looked at the bookings & found it. Took 20 mins until we could get anyone’s attention after sitting down to order drinks - then came back to say no house rose (by this time the couple who had walked in behind us were finishing their starters). Then given bread which looked like the bake at home stuff from Tesco, served in an old baking tray. To be fair though, the olives we were given were good. Food came and was very average and green beans were very undercooked. Oh & they had no vinegar! How does a restaurant run out of a basic like vinegar! We all had a scoop of ice cream for dessert, but the quality was rather poor - the cherry could’ve been anything and the chocolate was rather anemic. Never mind we were having a good chat, so we ordered post dinner drinks - decaf normal coffee, peppermint tea & small glass of wine and were promised some biscuits to go alongside - yep you guessed it - coffee arrived as expresso, no mint tea of any kind available & the wine was delivered as a large glass - at £13.50! Manager looked rather embarrassed, but only took off the tea (went for decaf ordinary tea in end) and the coffee. All in all a really poor experience and will not be back. Really painful paying the bill of hard earned cash where the management clearly do not care about the customer experience. Save your cash, book elsewhere!

We walked from Leamington across the fields and wanted a nice pub meal. Initial impressions were good, friendly and good drinks service. We were told olives and bread were coming. There were three of us and we were given a tiny pot of 8 olives at most, next a metal tray with three tiny pieces of bagette which looked like it came from Tesco. My main was pork belly which was a small piece of pork drowning in a sea of liquid, overall it was tastless and lacked basic seasoning. Nothing like the photo on the website. My son's chicken was ok but overdone and just sat on a large paralell array of green beans which did not taste of much, chips were ok. My wife was ok with her fish and gave 6/10. Despite asking twice for strawberry my son was given chocolate ice cream. Overall an underwhelming experience. Maybe this is what happens late on a Tuesday but for the price this experience was well below expectations. People will say why not say something there and then, my family said not to as it can get even worse.

The Stag used to be one of the best country pubs around, sadly no longer. The service is awful, our party of 5 were forgotten about following our starter, we had to remind staff twice that we were still waiting, happily the manager gave us a round of drinks to apologise. I was not keen on the lamb, looking and tasted like it came out of a tin, and the veg was basic at best. The saving grace is the beer garden, would be great as long as you don’t expect good food and service, it saddens me to see how an old favourite has declined.

Not sure what's gone wrong there (new management maybe?) but it's like going to a completely different place. 4 people in our group who had the steak said the cut of meat sub standard and tasteless. Previously multiple steak options which perhaps should have raised the alarm bells. One steak not cooked as ordered. Sent back and then brought back a few minutes later and asked if we would eat it anyway and take off the bill. No offer to replace it. 2 sausages and a blob of mash for £16. Think carefully if you have been here before it's changed significantly. Complaint raised with the waitress who had difficulty disagreeing with our feedback.

It's always a lovely vibe here, this time I went with a friend for a belated birthday meal, ordered off the festive menu, 3 courses and a pint of the local ale, the food was delicious and immaculately presented, and the beer was good too, definitely the place to bring a date or partner for a bit of posh nosh at reasonable prices

We booked a table on Sunday 19th November at 6.30 pm for a party of 7 and ordered our mains in prior to arrival at the request of the pub . We were lead to our table and ordered alchoholic drinks and water for the table to go with our mains. one bottle of sparkling and a jug of tap water . We had to ask twice for the water as it was forgotten . The dining area wasn't busy. Only two other tables occupied a family table was just finishing up when we arrived and table with a couple on . Several members of our party ordered starters which all arrived fine . Bearing in mind the mains were ordered in advance before we arrived. They didn't arrive together. In fact there was a 10-12 minute delay between the first main meal being served and the final one . I ordered all the trimmings expecting everything it mentioned on the nenu which included Yorkshire pudding and cauliflower cheese .I received neither Just a few undercooked potatoes. Carrots . Suede and a bit of cabbage with a smidge of gravy when I asked the waitress she mentioned something about those items not being vegan . I told her that I wasn't vegan and had not been asked by the pub whether or not I wanted items removed . If was just assumed . She then brought me out a Yorkshire pudding but no cauliflower cheese . I ordered dessert. Which was a winter crumble . It was served with the crumble burnt and the pub had clearly tried to scrape the top off before serving as there was very little crumble on top . Just a burnt light crust . The fruit underneath also tasted burnt . I informed our server that the desert was inedible she offered me another crumble which I refused as the inedible crumble had put me off eating desert . When the bill arrived I was charged for the crumble. Four of us have had upset tummies since dining that evening including myself. Were been several times before to this pub and have eaten our dinner there Christmas day and have never had an issue before. I'm really hoping last night was just a one off and not a sign that the pub has gone down hill .

A nice range of lunch options should suit most budgets, but you may want extra vegetables as not many came with the main courses. The duck with lentils was very salty.

I love this pub. It’s one of my favourites. Dog friendly and up until now people who seem to visit this seem friendly and of good character. Not much seating inside for drinking (most of its restaurant). Outside there is plenty of space and seats. A cool gin bar open in the corner (not always open) Ordering drinks can be slow sometimes as it always seems busy with lots of food being served. Just wish there was a little bit more “hustle” to make sure people are not waiting.

rather expensive and limited vegan options and the roasts didn't come with yorkies but sitting outside was very pleasant and the staff were friendly

This pub is very smart and modern. Nice area outside to sit and watch the kids play. It has however lost its charm. We used to go many years ago and it was a great village pub with lots of cats 😀 Now it is another, good, pub bistro.

Popped in here for dinner whilst visiting the area and had a staggeringly good meal. We had the rump steak and sea bream- the steak is probably the best steak I've ever had at a pub or restaurant and the fish was lovely too. Superb.

Really enjoyed our Sunday lunch here, there were 4 of us and we all enjoyed our meals, I'm afraid you dropped a star for the roast potatoes, they needed a lot longer in the oven and had no crispy edges other than that it was lovely

We were on holiday in the area and were walking with our dog and the stag was on route half way round. What a find! The staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. Very dog friendly too. The service was excellent and the food very tasty. A really busy pub and all staff very hard working and friendly. Of particular note: ollie, Beth, poppy and Tom. Not the cheapest but we have found this wherever we seem to go these days; the cost of eating out just seems to have gone up across the board. If I had to make any criticism at all, it would be lack of veg with the Sunday roast. We love lots of veg and good variety and had we not opted to pay extra for the broccoli and cauliflower cheese, it would have been a bit lacking in our opinion: a bit of cabbage, a few peas and about 5 small chantenay carrots to share. But not a major issue and would definitely not prevent us from returning. The warm apple cake was to die for!!! Would definitely return and had the perfect experience. The pub deserves to do well. Thank you!

Visited the stag again today. Unfortunately the last two visits the food quality has declined. Ate basic steak, very tough to eat. Really disappointed as portion sizes and quality has decline in the last 6-9 months. Get the quality back, it’s a great location

Lovely friendly pub in Warwick. Will definitely be back when the new owners finalise their menu, and likely before for the clean pint of Everard's.

I had a delivery via UberEats this weekend. It was such a lovely meal!! My bacon and brie pizza, with some mushrooms added, was simply divine, and the chips were very tasty. I can’t comment on the restaurant itself as I’ve never been in, but I’m sure I will be at some point.

Charming village pub. It is named after a trade union leader who lived in the village.

Delightful gem, I'd call this place. Quiet, (No musac!), most friendly, & the bacon/egg & maple syrup waffle was truly gorgeous!!
