The Stag in Dover

We popped in for a drink to see what it was like. It's a friendly customer focused community pub. We didn't eat this time but will definitely be back to try the menu.

Popped in here after going to the life boat open day and glad we did. Lovely local type pub with darts and pool to play. Didn't eat here as the cook was cooking at the open day, but staff nice and friendly. Games and books available.

Went in for a bite to eat with my family and our dog. Although the kitchen was closed we were offered bar snacks (and dog treats!) so we stayed for a drink. Staff were very friendly and there was a lovely atmosphere. We enjoyed playing the games on the table... A nice touch! :)

What a great night , we went there on Saturday , fantastic live singer , great atmosphere, would recommend this place for a really good night out, well done The Stag.

Great pub friendly atmosphere enough said...

No food consumed. It is helpful that this pub has a rear entrance as it assists with parking. Ales are well kept. It's just a pity that the real Ales app is not kept up to date. Bar staff need to be more friendly. They just serve without a smile or a nice word. Very pleasant eating area. I will use the pub again, despite its shortcomings.

Wasnt greeted as we entered, ask about food, was told no food today but they had rolls, we was starving and not local, so did the trick. No thank you when served, no smile, no thank you when leaving. Wasnt busy. No customer service. Won't be returning. Was tues afternoon 10/10/23

Went to the stag for lunch and a pint after a walk along Walmer sea front food was very good from a small but good lunch time menu. A good selection of beers with guest draft beers. Very friendly staff good atmosphere and very clean. This was the first time here and will be going back

Today when England and Arsenal were playing Kieran ran the whole bar single handed. This guy deserves a raise. Great customer service through a tough time.

Great location. Friendly helpful staff. No hot food at the time I went. The atmosphere was a bit flat but I went during the day in the week so it maybe more lively on an evening. Nice sea views.

Great place to go for a drink, friendly and vibrant enough that you can have fun but can also just slip into a corner and enjoy some peace.

Update: "Quite some time after your visit!" I review places I visit when Google reminds me about them. In this case, a week ago. Not bad considering that both Christmas and New Year celebrations occurred between my visit and my review, not to mention my flight from the UK back to the USA and returning to work. Sorry I wasn't more prompt. Like I said, if you like sports bars, give The Stag a try. Original: This is more like a sports bar than other bars in Deal. The World Cup was on the TVs when I visited. It was loud (mostly from one particular guy), and one guy was sitting on his own at a table for 3, while the three of us stood waiting for a table. To make things worse, that one guy left his drink and his coat at the table while he went off and joined another table! Not the bar's fault, but with so few seats available, they might have policed it a bit better. The bar has a pool table and a dartboard, both of which limit the amount of seating available. If sports bars are your thing, give The Stag a try.

Welcoming and lovely ambience. Child friendly. Sea views. We only popped in for a coffee on our way to Walmer Castle. Lady serving brought coffee to our table. Next time in the area, we will eat in there.

A pleasant suprise. Not been here since, I can't remember when. Pleasantly warm and suprised to see TImothy Taylor, Landord as a regular beer and was in excellent condition.

Lovely pub! Great service, nice friendly atmosphere and good selection. Nice seating areas, TVs for events and a pool table. Plus, they had bowls of roast potatoes on the bar on Sunday!

This is a nice pub to visit. It does what it says on the label,it is a nice traditional pub. TARDIS like it is bigger in the inside than it looks in the outside. A central bar which I really liked because it is in the middle of the pub so serves from all sides, does that make sense? Well visit it and find out.

Called in for food unfortunately they only do it every other day, service from the young man was very good though, friendly and pleasant, service very good. 4 stars as there was no food.

Enjoyed my visit with my elderley mum today, bar lady was very pleasant and we enjoyed some very good traditional English bar food, pub was spotless and has a lovely traditional ambiance, Thankyou.

Beer, football and great company. This place was properly my favorite boozer in Deal. Hopefully a dart scoring board aswell

Fantastic Landlords, great atmosphere, well worth a visit

Really enjoyed my time here. Warm atmosphere, very welcoming staff and a good selection of lagers if that's your thing. Haven't really been to any other pubs in Walmer but, by it's own merits, you would not be disappointed of you stopped here for a drink or two opposite the seafront.

I've visited the stag on many occasions through the years, but hadn't been in for quite some time before this visit and I was pleasantly surprised by the improvements. The back area had been covered over to make a really nice room and the whole place was clean and pleasant. There was a decent variety of ales and lagers and a good place to watch the footie if you're a fan

Just had a quick point very nice

Only had time for one pint on our travels but it was well kept and I had a great view of the sea from the bay window. Don't be confused trying to find it, the name refers to a ship not the animal so the pub sign can be misleading.

Very rude barmaid ranting about how we have to walk all the way round the pub just to enter in the same door we came in. Always a great place for refreshment! Drinks served perfectly (GnT's) and good snacks/rolls for nibbles. Clean, friendly and easy access in these strange socially distancing times. Cheers!

Dog friendly seafront pub. No food, which is a shame as I was starving. Staff were friendly enough to the locals, but didn't really bother with visitors. Locals were friendly enough to make up for it.

Lovely Fullers and Cornish ales but 2 TV's dominate a small bar. Ok I am not a football fan - so I chose the wrong pub, or maybe the wrong time.

Nice pub next to the sea front. Plenty of TVs to watch sport plus a pool table. Would recommend

Location is very good, lots of space and screens to watch sport etc.. Staff were keen to serve and helpful. I ordered a Cider and large Merlot which were very good indeed. Avoid the coffee as I don't think they are geared up for that type of offering. Would visit again, indeed we went to Deal for the day and went there twice as the service was so efficient.

Good pub friendly people now ive been there several times. Pool table, darts, and live sports plus your on the seafront.

Why oh why do you need to have bad music turned up loud? Ruins everyone's experience and would be a great pub if it weren't for that.
