Wow, what a delicious roast! In an amazing setting. We both had lamb, amazing Yorkshire pudding, a lovely choice of vegetables, green cabbage, red cabbage, swede, carrots, cauliflower cheese and broccoli. Followed by an amazing trifle. Lovely friendly staff, will definitely be returning.

My partner and I visited this pub on a recent holiday. The hosts own the pub, as well as the fabulous holiday accommodation we stayed in (look it up, it's in Meshaw). We had a two course Sunday lunch, the food was divine and hands down the best roast we had ever eaten out and would rival any top food restaurant! The portion sizes were generous and quality of the food and presentation was excellent, we didn't hesitate to devour every last mouthful. We also had a delicious bottle of red that paired the food perfectly and was fairly priced. The hosts couldn't have been more friendly and went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. You could easily drive by this pub, as at the moment it is being rethatched, but don't be put off, as inside it has been sympathetically restored and oozes old warn charm. Thank you Steve, Oliver and team, we will definelty be back when in the area! Don't drive by this fabulous gem, you will regret it!!

We have just left The Stag after spending a lovely afternoon there for lunch. The staff and owners were very friendly and helpful. Our group all had a two course meal and the food was amazing. The Pork Belly and Beef Brisket were both lovely. The pub is beautifully decorated inside. We will definitely be visiting again.

On a Christmas visit to Exmoor we had a very happy supper at The Stag. We all loved the setting, the welcome and obviously our food - and the effort made to please all of us, especially our nine-year-old, when the kitchen was extremely stretched, was truly touching. The homemade bread and butter that was provided was delicious and the spiced rum sticky toffee pudding was outrageously good. We will definitely return next time we are in the area.

I love going to this pub, great food and atmosphere. Would like to more often but when you own 2 horses, its usually them that come first. The guys and staff are very attentive, Will be going to valentines day as it will be very romantic with candles on the table, what more can you ask for.

My husband and I were staying locally for a couple of weeks and whilst we tried some of the other nearby pubs, The Stag was our favourite. We received a warm welcome on every visit. We would recommend the Sunday lunch, though booking is highly suggested!

We went for a big family birthday Sunday lunch. The menu is simple - just 4 choices of main- but utterly delicious. Amazing local pork, huge crispy Yorkshire Puddings and tasty veg. Puddings didn’t disappoint either- brownies, sticky toffee with rum, crumble and lemon meringue. The pub is old and has been extremely sympathetically “done up” on the inside. It. Looks derelict and shut from the outside, but don’t be put off.

This pub is a little gem. Went for dinner with friends, everyone loved their food choices. Friendly service. Small well crafted menu with really fresh local food. Excellent chef, who knows how to deliver really tasty food that is so much better than the usual pub fare. Thoroughly recommended

Stumbled on The Stag by chance on the way to Devon( those brown signs can sometimes be very useful) This quaint pub has been lovingly restored to an exceptionally high quality. The welcome was very friendly, surroundings cosy & the food was delicious. You must try the burger & amazing chips!! We will definitely be stumbling across it again!! The Boyden Family

Wow, what a find! This pub may be tucked away in a tiny village near Tiverton but what it has to offer is the overall package. Great atmosphere, very friendly, superb food and fantastic range of drinks - we can't help but keep going back! we maybe 15 minutes away but it has become our local.

The Stag certainly has potential with its charming interiors, warm fire and excellent gin selection HOWEVER I never want to wait 1.5 hours for my food to arrive, make my own trips to the bar for more drinks, not to be told whether food is unavailable until it arrives (they ran out of bread apparently) and the menu to be incorrect (I requested the broccoli instead of the carrot stated on menu, both items turned up on others plates and mine had a very sad amount of broccoli). Food was okay but overall very poor experience for the price. I feel sorry for the waiters who had to apologise. Please improve your organisation, communication, number of waiting staff and timing.

Travelling from Bristol to Barnstable for a weekend searched for a pub for lunch en-route and The Stag Inn at Rackenford came up on Trip Adivsor. We arrived at 1pm to be honest I sat outside with my two dogs. My husband entered and the barman was giving a couple directions to an alturnative pub The Mount Pleasant Inn. We required a sandwich each and we were informed we would have to wait 45 minutes and not a drink offered. It was not busy. So we too headed off to The Mount Pleasant Inn which was lovely.

Friends took us to this lovely pub as a Christmas present. Tucked away in a quiet corner of North Devon this recently refurbished and tastefully, rustically furnished pub is a delight. Great host, lovely menu and very decent wine list.

Beautifully restored ancient pub, keeping all its character. Well done! Owners couldn't have been more helpful. Really excellent roast beef, interesting vegetables, perfectly cooked. The classiest, best sticky toffee pudding I've ever had. Not your run of the mill pub venue or food. Well done.

A real gem, under new ownership, the inn has been extensively refurbished with great attention to detail and is now a simple but beautifully atmospheric place to unwind for the evening. Stunning fireplace if it's a grey, rainy day or for evening time. Lovely, friendly service, checking in often that all is good. The food is amazing - wonderful flavours & homebaked bread. Smoked mackerel terrine/horseradish/fennel starter was full of different flavours & we both had hake/leek/samphire with brown shrimp sauce which was cooked beautifully. Hazlenut brownie was to die for, best brownie I've ever tasted (& I've had a few!) - light, not stodgy or dense. Great range of British gins if you are a gin drinker. Best thing is the prices aren't high! It is a rare find in this part of Devon & definitely not your average pub grub, highly highly recommended. It is our now our 'go to' place - we will be back soon.

The Stag started serving food this week, the decor is beautiful, the service was very friendly and helpful. The bar offering looked comprehensive. The menu was small but offered a perfect selection. The starters were presented beautifully and were very good. The hake main was stunning in every way. We didnt have time for deserts but will next time. The cost was very reasonable. All in all we are very excited to have a great pub in Rackenford.

The Stag has a fantastic atmosphere. We visited a few weeks ago whilst on holiday to attend a charity quiz evening. The pub was packed and the staff were very friendly and even thought they were under pressure to serve drinks they managed it with a smile

This is a real gem in Dorchester. We love the coffee best in the area. The food is always excellent. The staff are very good always very helpful and service with a smile. Lovely place to meet up with friends and enjoy the lovely open space. Not sure why they were closed today Friday 5th August, but did hear that it might be closed for a while due to on going dispute. Be a real shame if it does close as it was a good find with excellent coffee.

Sunday roast wasn't great unfortunately. The beef was exceptionally chewy and when mentioned to the waiter the reply was something along the lines of "yes we know". Also the veg consisted of swede, carrot and cabbage which was quite uninspiring. Would expect more for £18.

Good pub with very cozy interior, especially with the blazing woodburner. Staff were great at hosting and very attentive. Dog friendly. Nice beers and great food. The landlord, Richard, even gave us a jump-start after we got stuck in a blizzard. Legend.
