Barman was very unfriendly and told us we won’t be welcome long. After one drink we left and he called the police making false claims of drink driving. We were obviously not drink driving which made the accusation even more offensive.

This is a very minor issue for me, but as a 16th-century property, it isn't wheelchair friendly. I have got mobility issues, and a year ago, there's no way that I could have eaten here. That would have been such a shame as the food was wonderful and the service was excellent. It is well priced and very easy to find and park.

Wonderful friendly staff who create a really chilled out and welcoming atmosphere. Food is GORGEOUS and very reasonably priced as well. I had the roast turkey on a plate full of gravy and flavour. They have a cosy log burner to relax in front of too which was just the cherry on the cake. It’s a shame we’re not locals as we’d definitely make this our regular!

Four of us had the set Christmas meal. It was the worst Christmas meal I have ever had in a restaurant. Potatoes burnt and uneatable. No apology when we told them they were "ghastly". The plates appeared to have been warmed up; certainly not freshly prepared. I wouldn't be surprised if they had been plated up the night before, as we were there for lunch. Lots of food went back. Won't be returning.

Fantastic meal - certainly not basic pub grub. This chef really knows his flavours and lovely to see a seasonal menu. I had the fish with pomme anna & fennel - delicious. Visited on 9/09/23 very limited menu, no water offered to us. Food arrived and our burger was swimming in oil with no bottom bun, cold chips and very bland. Also ordered the fish and chips which was horrendous, soggy cold fish, the chips weren’t much better! Curry sauce came with the meal and it was inedible. No check back on our food, our food arrived at 7.10pm and we’ve left at 7.25pm very disappointed. Paid for our bill and bar staff were very rude and not attentive. Definitely won’t be returning after it being recommend to us by many people as we live in the village it’s a great shame. Will continue supporting the kings arms from now on.

We walked to here on the first evening of our holiday, it was the only pub in walking distance but how fortunate that it was such a lovely, friendly pub serving great food. We all had the fish and chips. All four of us devoured every last bit of food. Dog friendly, nice garden with plenty of seating and a really cosy feel to the inside of the pub. We wanted to go again but didn’t quite get round to it a second time but I would totally recommend it.

Staying in the village to atted a wedding so decided to book a table for dinner in this fine eatery and it was certainly an enjoyable evening. The menu selection was varied but not extensive with choices for starters mains and deserts. We went all out ad couldn't have been happier, the food was freshly cooked, beutifull presented, geart portions and delicious. The drinks menu was well catered to and the staff were helpful and super knowledgable. Another great British pub that's got it right. Highly recommend a visit, it's not cheap but is certainly worth every penny, I'll certainly return if ever back in the area.

Had a lovely two night stay in this beautifully restored building. We felt at home as soon as we entered our room which was beautifully decorated and well maintained but still with plenty of character. We visited this recently reopened pub restaurant on a busy Saturday night. Despite the number of diners, we received excellent service from Richard. There is a small but very good menu. My partner and her son had the burger with pulled pork. I tried a bit of the burger and we all agreed it was delicious. I think it was the best burger I have eaten in a pub restaurant. I had chicken breast with potatoes and chorizo red cabbage. Everything was cooked perfectly right down to the skin in the chicken breast. We finished off our meal with a cheeseboard served with French bread - all three cheeses were good but the Cheddar was superb. Great value for money considering the quality of the food, the quality of the service and the ambience.

Our usual lunch stop off en - route to family in Cornwall, so anticipating the possibilty of it being a bit busier than normal so near to Christmas, despite the covid situation, we booked in advance. What a surprise to find an empty pub, but we were greeted as being expected, so thought that other guests would arrive later. But another surprise, a very limited menu choice and then to overherar a conversation between the chef?? and the barlady that all food was then cancelled. Our order did eventually arrive, ( not sure why egg and chips and a burger and chips needed 40 minutes to cook - even from scratch) but whilst the food was ok, the atmosphere was cold and uncomfortable and not a patch on its previous excellent quality. Obviously a problem somewhere. Hopefully it will be sorted out by the time we revisit in the new year.

The Old Thatch is very conveniently located just off the A30 in Devon, close to the Woodleigh exit. We called for lunch on the way westwards and were well looked after and served excellent food. My own choice was for the spicy tomato soup, and my wife's for the ciabatta and chips. My wife's helping was very generous. My one reservation about the Old Thatch concerns its internal appearance. Potentially its interior is very attractive and the bar area is full of character. However, the decor has a rather tired look about it. A programme of refurbishment would help to freshen the place up a bit.

Having read many reviews suggesting improvements in quality we thought we’d give the old thatch another go on our latest trip down to Cornwall. The quality of the cooking has improved a bit since we were last here in 2016, but that isn’t saying much. The hunters chicken and gammon egg and chips we had for lunch were really no different to what you would get in Wetherspoons. The difference though was the price. Twice as much here. Our regular lunch stop en-route to Cornwall over the past 15 years or so and as always a friendly welcome, great Otter Ale from the cellar, a good very sensibly priced menu and good cooking- what more can a hungry traveller want!! See youagain later on this year!

Seen the signs for the pub on the way to Cornwall and stopped for lunch, glad we did. Great food and service, the pie was a proper pie, good quality meat and good pastry, the wife enjoyed her seafood chowder. Will definitely stop again next time we down that way.

Warm welcome, great pint, nice wine selection and roaring fire. Superb homemade pies and lovely chips - no dry catering cardboard chips here!! Don’t drive past. We will make a point of stopping here whenever we are on the way to Cornwall. Thank you for a great lunch.

We stopped in on the way down to Cornwall for dinner with our baby and dog. We were all made to feel welcome. My husband had the Steak and Ale Pie and I had Lasagne. Best Lasagne I’ve ever had. The pie was that good that my husband spent all week saying how good it was and that we would stop on the way home. We both had the pie and I agree it was delicious. Thank you for having us.

Went for evening meal, good food, catered well for my daughter's gluten allergy. Friendly staff, dog friendly, parking across the road. I for one can thoroughly recommend their home made pies, excellent.

What a joy this pub/restaurant was. The food was good, the locals were all very friendly and the place had a great atmosphere. Special mention should be made of the young waitress who served us. Unfortunately I don't know her name but we visited on a Saturday evening and I do remember that she had only been working there for a couple of months. 10 out of 10.
