We came here after a long Autumn walk with our dog, it was so lovely and warm next to the log fire and we had one of the best Sunday roasts we've ever had. It's not just an average pub roast, everything on the plate was incredible!

The Old Thatch Inn wins on all fronts. The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. The food is wonderful. I had glorious mackerel pate as a starter. Then ,unusually,. I opted for a brioche free burger what a pleasure. The food was accompanied by A splendid Cote de Rhone.

Excellent on all fronts. We were a big party (7) who’d had a last minute change - it was no problem. We had a warm welcome, friendly service and the food was excellent. We had steak, catch of the day (pollock with samphire) and fish and chips. Then crème brûlée, crumble, ice creams ( rum and raisin particularly delicious), and brownies. Rioja and coffee also excellent.

Lovely place with good prices and great food. Very accommodating staff. Were willing to make me a snack despite it not being on the menu and it was, hands down, the best I've had. Haven't tried the rooms so can't comment, but if their attention to detail with their food and drink has been applied to them as well then they will be lovely too. Mandatory update dictated by our Google overlords 05/10: had their signature burger tonight and it was absolutely delicious. Staff still wonderful.

We came here for a Sunday roast and it did not disappoint. A very quaint pub that does proper food properly. I came with my husband and we both had the roast beef. A massive win that the gravy was delish and that the roast came with cauliflower cheese. We shared the cheeseboard after and the Devon Blue was our favourite. The pub feels like a true locals pub, nestled in a deep Devon town. It’s a no “frills attached” pub that is well run, well kept and you are definitely well looked after here.

This is a very minor issue for me, but as a 16th-century property, it isn't wheelchair friendly. I have got mobility issues, and a year ago, there's no way that I could have eaten here. That would have been such a shame as the food was wonderful and the service was excellent. It is well priced and very easy to find and park.

Four of us had the set Christmas meal. It was the worst Christmas meal I have ever had in a restaurant. Potatoes burnt and uneatable. No apology when we told them they were "ghastly". The plates appeared to have been warmed up; certainly not freshly prepared. I wouldn't be surprised if they had been plated up the night before, as we were there for lunch. Lots of food went back. Won't be returning.

Visited on 9/09/23 very limited menu, no water offered to us. Food arrived and our burger was swimming in oil with no bottom bun, cold chips and very bland. Also ordered the fish and chips which was horrendous, soggy cold fish, the chips weren’t much better! Curry sauce came with the meal and it was inedible. No check back on our food, our food arrived at 7.10pm and we’ve left at 7.25pm very disappointed. Paid for our bill and bar staff were very rude and not attentive. Staying in the village to atted a wedding so decided to book a table for dinner in this fine eatery and it was certainly an enjoyable evening. The menu selection was varied but not extensive with choices for starters mains and deserts. We went all out ad couldn't have been happier, the food was freshly cooked, beutifull presented, geart portions and delicious. The drinks menu was well catered to and the staff were helpful and super knowledgable. Another great British pub that's got it right. We visited this recently reopened pub restaurant on a busy Saturday night. Despite the number of diners, we received excellent service from Richard. There is a small but very good menu. My partner and her son had the burger with pulled pork. I tried a bit of the burger and we all agreed it was delicious. I think it was the best burger I have eaten in a pub restaurant. I had chicken breast with potatoes and chorizo red cabbage. Everything was cooked perfectly right down to the skin in the chicken breast. We finished off our meal with a cheeseboard served with French bread - all three cheeses were good but the Cheddar was superb. Great value for money considering the quality of the food, the quality of the service and the ambience.

Our usual lunch stop off en - route to family in Cornwall, so anticipating the possibilty of it being a bit busier than normal so near to Christmas, despite the covid situation, we booked in advance. What a surprise to find an empty pub, but we were greeted as being expected, so thought that other guests would arrive later. But another surprise, a very limited menu choice and then to overherar a conversation between the chef?? and the barlady that all food was then cancelled. Our order did eventually arrive, ( not sure why egg and chips and a burger and chips needed 40 minutes to cook - even from scratch) but whilst the food was ok, the atmosphere was cold and uncomfortable and not a patch on its previous excellent quality. Obviously a problem somewhere. Hopefully it will be sorted out by the time we revisit in the new year.

The Old Thatch is very conveniently located just off the A30 in Devon, close to the Woodleigh exit. We called for lunch on the way westwards and were well looked after and served excellent food. My own choice was for the spicy tomato soup, and my wife's for the ciabatta and chips. My wife's helping was very generous. My one reservation about the Old Thatch concerns its internal appearance. Potentially its interior is very attractive and the bar area is full of character. However, the decor has a rather tired look about it. A programme of refurbishment would help to freshen the place up a bit.

Having read many reviews suggesting improvements in quality we thought we’d give the old thatch another go on our latest trip down to Cornwall. The quality of the cooking has improved a bit since we were last here in 2016, but that isn’t saying much. The hunters chicken and gammon egg and chips we had for lunch were really no different to what you would get in Wetherspoons. The difference though was the price. Twice as much here. It’s a real pity as the food was the real high spot of this pub. The atmosphere didn’t seem the same either. Not many locals drinking at the bar.

Lovely place to meet up with friends and enjoy the lovely open space. Not sure why they were closed today Friday 5th August, but did hear that it might be closed for a while due to on going dispute. Be a real shame if it does close as it was a good find with excellent coffee.

Sunday roast wasn't great unfortunately. The beef was exceptionally chewy and when mentioned to the waiter the reply was something along the lines of "yes we know". Also the veg consisted of swede, carrot and cabbage which was quite uninspiring. Would expect more for £18.

We just came upon this place whilst walking down Cullompton high street. There was a good choice of food at reasonable prices.
