Very lovely food great atmosphere and very quick service and staff were amazing especially the ladies called Paula and Julie

I’ve visited the stables quite a few times over the last two years and have always received a warm welcome in the bar and restaurant. It’s a great place for dinner with friends or a date night. The cheesecake is not to be missed! The food is always delicious and they do takeaway too.

Great atmosphere, friendly & attentive staff - especially Emma, Wonderful with children too! Would definitely recommend food also, the lunchtime wraps are delicious

Went in a large group the place was lovely really nice atmosphere and staff were really nice and helpful with the menu, food was top draw all cooked as asked Will definitely be back

Well, I used to believe that the food here was good but no longer. The menu never changes and it’s not great. I suggest change the menu seasonally, please.

12 of us for my mam’s birthday. Quality and choice of food was really good. Prices were reasonable. Staff were excellent and went out of their way to accommodate us. Very friendly. We will be back.

Me and my friends went to The Stables for the first time today, and we quickly agreed that we won't be going back. We had arrived separately, and started to order our drinks, however much to our surprise, and in a surly tone, the barmaid said to us "hurry up and decide what you want", and this with an added eye roll thrown in. We paid and decided to sit outside in the cold. This is a real shame, as we were hoping to make this pub our new local, but not now!!

Visited recently with friends. The menu offers numerous dishes. The food is best described as being average quality. Very expensive for what you get. Given the amount of local eateries within a 10 mile radius there is far better on offer and considerably cheaper. It is a pub which charges restaurant prices. Certainly won’t be rushing back to eat here.

My wife rung yesterday and asked to book for Sunday lunch, whoever took booking could have said the Sunday roast wasn’t on today because it’s New Year’s Eve, quite annoyed as we ordered 4 drinks before we found out about this. Anyway I had Teriyaki salmon, not good at all, my wife had mince and dumplings, mince came out in a bowl rest on plate, could tell she wasn’t enjoying it. My daughter n grandson shared a Parma which was ok, gone down a lot in last few year so until someone I know well tells me it has improved I won’t be back.

1/5 What a strange place. We rang to make a booking for a pre wedding get together. Only to be told that they close Mondays ( web site says open) but if there was enough they would open. Called next day to say if 35-40 were coming that they would not have enough staff ( 5 months away!!!) and that they would be too busy outside so we could not book .

Just back from a visit here,very nice,food is lovely,place is warm and friendly,staff are polite and welcoming,atmosphere is lovely. Prices are very reasonable,i would advise booking. Overall a lovely place,i would reccomend and will return.

We have lived in Wynyard for a couple of years and dined here a few times. The food is ok some of it reasonably priced. Some of the staff are lovely but one lady really lets the show down. The bar is a bit ‘tasty’ and plenty nose powder going on in the toilets…. Plenty! Not visited in a long time, never feel welcome.

Sunday dinner is amazing and the cheese cakes are just amazing also You must book or you an queue from 12 for Sunday lunch

This place literally does the best cheesecake! Been a few times just for dessert and you just can’t beat them - the flavours change weekly too, so always pleasantly surprised with whatever is on the menu.

It was a nice Sunday dinner the only downfall was the vegetables. I like al dented veg but some of it was raw

We do eat here but take the place for granted until we eat else where, Danny and the staff were fab, looked after us so well and the food is just amazing, we had starters, goats cheese tart and prawns which were gorgeous then we both had fillet steak, if you think you’ve had the best fillet you need to try theirs you just can not get any better. 5 big massive stars guys 🙌

There was a women who served us , i didnt catch her name but she told us about how big the portions of potato skins are , she clearly was having a tough day and was still very very nice to us and made our time at the stables very enjoyable

I booked this meal for the of us, upon arriving 2 was unable to show up. So that was 3 of us ( I paid a £30 deposit ). Atmosphere was nice but when we placed the order ans stated potatoes skins each the lady abruptly said " no u will get 2 they are big portions ' a little shocked..we went with 2. Starters were lovely, main however the oizza was just as I'd do at home nothing special ial about it for the price. Drinks...I was drinking non alcoholic lager.. ordered a second one and said non alcoholic in which i tried it and it was an alcoholic one. Service was fairly slow but we went with it.. overall asked for the bill ( my friend said see I'd they take the deposit off the bill and remember because the last time he went they didn't take it off ) and surprise surprise they ' forgot ' again..girl comes back said I have took the 10 off and held the 10 for the 2 people who didn't show. Now I know s business has to run.. however the place was not busy. Not busy enough to need that table of 2 there was plenty of empty tables. We also racked a big bill up on what we ordered so you'd have at least thought they would of not held on to the deposit. Never the less I will not be back again. It has completely put me off. And in 31 years this is my first bad review of a restaurant where I have gone out my way to make it public.

As it was a special occasion, we decided to try out this little pub and restaurant. Being in Wynyard it's bound to be good. The name says it all. Right… Our first thoughts as we pulled up the pub looked lovely from the outside, and the interior was even nicer. Once seated, it was half an hour before someone came to take our order, considering how many waitresses there were, it was not only very slow service but unprofessional staff too. We all decided to push the boat out and order starters. When they arrived, the portions were small, especially the spring rolls, which you got two of. Our main meals arrived, and they looked delicious but as we started tucking in we soon noticed little faults with them. The fish and chips were greasy, as though the fish had been swimming in oil and not the sea. The wagyu burger had no taste, if it wasn’t for the garnish it would have been like eating cardboard. Then the mince and dumplings which were rich and salty, the dumpling were more like a rock. All of these I could have cooked better at home. Not one of the waiting staff came to ask us for desserts. It was getting late, so we asked for the bill. To our horror, we were rudely ushered off the table so it could be given to regulars that demanded it was theirs. Not only were the meals underwhelming but, after heading into the toilets which were dirty, we witnessed drug taking by fellow customers. Not what you want to see when entering a toilet. The whole night was disappointing and I'm pleased to say that we won't be going back there anytime soon.

Visited recently with friends. I had Spring Rolls started followed by a Parmo. Two spring rolls which were ok. The Parmo was a decent size but I’ve had far better locally. The food is vastly overpriced considering it’s “pub grub” Won’t be rushing back!

We booked early for Christmas Eve and were not disappointed. Fantastic food. Great atmosphere. Service exceptional. Highly recommended.

Came for a meal at my parents recommendation. Starters and drinks were lovely and so was the service. Mains were ok but a lot to be desired. The cod curry was basically a slab of cod with chip shop curry sauce on it. The salmon was lovely according to my mother. My dad got the duck pizza and said it could have used some sauce (we were offered some by the waitress but he declined so his own fault) and my partner got fish and chips which he said was lovely apart from the fact there was like 5 chips so large they could count as roast potato’s. Over all the food was above average but could be improved on the starters were amazing especially the beef broth soup. We would come again it’s more high end pub grub.

Visited for lunch this week after some time since my last visit and thoroughly enjoyed the great food and good service. Well done the stables !

We went here for a colleague’s lunchtime leaving do. It was recommended, and other people seemed okay with their orders. I had fish and chips. It was very disappointing. The fish was cooked from frozen and soggy. The meager portion of chips were dark brown...

My Sunday roast was very tasty with a lovely gravy. But the presentation was terrible! My family and I were served our vegetables in what looked like a large soup bowl. They were all jumbled up and just plonked in the middle of the table...

Sirloin steak on the bone, blue cheese sauce, crispy salad, fries! No one could ask for more. AMAZING. Hubby had mince and dumplings, fresh mash and peas. Divine.

We had 4 dinners and I must say the best place for Sunday lunch I know.I love everything about this place. Lovely atmosphere and best lunch I've ever tasted . Very welcoming staff. Will be back soon

We presented as walk in customers for lunchtime at 12. The restaurant was booked up, but they squeezed us in. On agreeing to take the table the bar lady said she would need the table back by 13:00, my partner told them that was fine...

We popped into The Stables for Sunday lunch - two beef and one turkey. The food was superb - with rich gravy and a generous side portion of vegetables. The Stables is turning into the perfect local.

Very disappointed with the customer service I have received from trying to order a cheesecake. I contacted The Stables via their Instagram page where they are daily promoting their cheesecakes, from here I kindly asked for some information on collection, price and design of cheesecakes. I was told they would get back to me, of which they never did. I then messaged again expressing I was still interested in ordering a cheesecake from them for a 21st birthday, from here we agreed on a style and price. When i confirmed and asked when I would be able to collect the cheesecake I was again ignored. From here I then messaged a third time, asking if they were able to confirm if this service is something they were able to offer and if not please could they simply let me know so I could make other arrangements, this message was yet again ignored and I have had no response. I will certainly not be recommending this service as I believe simply ignoring customers is very rude and unprofessional.

Having dined at Wynyard Hall where we were staying , we followed a recommendation to try the food here. An excellent choice. We couldn't get a table in the restaurant/ dining room but were happy to sit in the bar. Very friendly staff. Excellent menu and delicious food at a reasonable price. Good atmosphere in the bar once the foul mouthed female left. I felt the staff should have dealt with her loud swearing.

Ate diner here for second time on first Thursday after New year. Usual good atmosphere and efficient staff but food was a bit of a let down compared to last time, I had some stodgy tasteless fish cakes to start and Oriental salmon main which was over cooked and on a bed of mushy veg, bit of a disappointment really as others with us had good food.

Food was spot on couldn’t fault it but the woman behind the bar was a inattentive she does not like people from outside area very rude and unpleasant and ignorant seemed be more intensive towards young gentleman at the bar

Group of ladies had dinner from main menu. We were amazed that the on the bill we were charged for ' table dressings ' ie cracker/napkins!! Place was busy and noisy. Few mistakes with the food order. Some changes on the menu might encourage us to return.

Have visited The Stables many times over the years,mostly special occasions as such a lovely location and restaurant.

We ordered a takeaway yesterday evening for 2 chicken parmos. The chips were lovely but the parmo was very salty and couldn’t eat it’s shame as the last time we ate in it was lovely.

We regularly visit for a midweek early dinner.

On a whim we decided to go for Sunday Lunch having eaten at the Stables various times but never for Sunday Lunch. Was not the cheapest at £13 but excellent quality and plenty of everything. Would certainly return.

We dropped in here whilst staying at Wynard Hall. They were very busy for a Tuesday evening but managed to squeeze a table of 4 in. A bit of a wait for food but was gorgeous and the selection of cheesecakes!!!! Oh my god! Delicious!

Return visit here and absolutely recommend. Generous portions sizes of delicious food and staff very welcoming / attentive.

Another lovely meal all round .. always very consistent.. never lets you down Must try a mid week meal I’m sure it will be just as fine Great service...minimum waiting time .. hot food ... what more do you want !!

Family meal on a Sunday,music blaring but then magically stopped 20 mins in ! Food good some of my family’s veg was hard, i.e. broccoli and green beans. Chunky chips good and service ok, quite friendly. Puddings ok and range of drinks good. Nice and airy but no atmosphere. Scampi good but some meats tough, mainly pork. Would give it another go to see if it can be better. Want it to be cos it’s quite nice just not great !

Table for 5 booked on a Friday evening. Lovely ambience. Good menu choices and food extremely good. Boxes to take uneaten food away. Loved the steak and ale pie.

First visit for us from Manchester although my brother his wife & son are regulars.

The “locals” seem to think that strangers should not be allowed to approach the bar. They sit holding court and don’t take kindly to having to move slightly to allow you to get a drink.

Visited with a friend who has been before, she was right , what a lovely place, decor inside is classy, cosy and tastefully done.

Visited the stables with friends for a drink, the place had plenty of character gave out that cosy feeling. Staff were very professional. The place was spotless can’t wait to return

Really disappointed this time , staff friendly in the restaurant but felt there was no atmosphere and they just wanted you in out quickly a totally different experience from previous visits. Ordered gammon from the special board well what a bad choice that was it was so greasy that when you cut it up the oil just dripped of couldn't eat it even the salad was soggy with grease from , told the waiter who went and spoke to the chef who came back with its not oil but the juices from the gammon maybe but all over your plate , totally not interesred not even an apology and the cheek to charge me for the full meal. Totally spoilt our wedding anniversary.

The food was very nice, decent value for money. Recommend the hanging kebab. Service was good. But had to eat in the bar as restaurant was full and we felt slightly uncomfortable by regulars looking at us as if to say “what are yous doing in here”.

Went for a family night. Duck spring rolls starter my son got were full of duck, pizzas looked good my gammon was nice but gamon egg chips and salad doesn’t go it should be chunky chips a grilled mushroom and peas. The yolk running onto the salad doesn’t work. Sons pepperoni Parmo looked good. Bakes prawn starter was ok but not enough coriander but that’s picky. All the food was piping hot like I like it and staff were cannie the two ladies very helpful. Prices reasonable cheesecakes a storm I’d go back

Working away in Teeside and found this place online - definitely right decision. Great food, generous portions, reasonably priced and staff very attentive.

The Stables is a lovely pub in Wynyard Village. There is plenty of parking and when you enter there is a bar area on the right and restaurant on the left. The menu has a good selection of meals and drinks to suit all tastes at a reasonable price. The staff are very friendly and attentive.

This is a peasant eatery. On entering there is a bar on the right with a restaurant on the left. Menus are identical. Good quality if slightly pricey but this is a desirable area so I accept the rationale for this.

Food was lovely and freshly cooked, staff were very attentive and very accommodating the menu caters for all and has a great choice. Meals are reasonably priced and you get a good sized portion. Would definitely recommend the chicken Parmesan it was delicious. Lovely place with great food and great staff

We visited as a family of 4 with 2 young children as a birthday treat. The was a good choice on the menu, the staff were all young and friendly. The food was presented well, tasted great and there was plenty of it. The Easter egg cheesecakes were a real hit.. Very enjoyable dining experience, thank you!

Went here with a few friends for happy hour one night. Food was ok, nothing spectacular. Location is nice, with a beer garden. Small restaurant, it was very busy when we were there.

Sunday. No vegetarian substitutions. Which is strange considering it’s 2019? No extra veg or anything either. Puddins were small and burnt. The rest was good, deserts are nice!

Staff were extremely helpful as we are quite an awkward family when it comes to ordering - nothing was too much and the food was absolutely divine. Will definitely be returning! Thank you

I booked my birthday meal here, for 16 of my family to celebrate. My mother rang the restaurant to order a birthday cheesecake for me as they promote these all of the time on their Instagram. the woman who spoke to my mother was very rude and had no patience on the phone. the day before the meal the owner of the establishment spoke to my mother on the phone advising the cheesecake we bought from them (£30) could not be eaten in the restaurant. the man would not let my mother speak when she questioned this. he said he has a living to make and we would we need to take the cheesecake away with us. when my mother questioned this and asked if we could bring our own cake he said this was fine and we COULD eat this in his restaurant. with him saying this it was very confusing. why could we not eat the cheesecake we bought from him in his restaurant but could bring a cake of our own and was able to eat it there. very awkward intimidating rude owner, very bad customer service . We will not be returning.

Have been to the Stables for years but last couple of times our party have waited over an hour for food to arrive.

Me and my friends met up every 2/3 months for a meal at the stables, normally very nice but this visit this time was very upsetting, the meal was lovely as normal but when we got the bill normally we just pay it and divided it by the 4 of us but this time for no reason we checked it and to our disgust they’d over charge us by £15 when we call the manager over he just dismissed it and said just knock it off the amount! no apology at all, just wondering how many times as this happened to us in the passed and other people. My advise to people who visit this pub check your bill!!!

We booked the Stables for a family get together. We were so impressed from the initial booking, the greeting we received on arrival, the food and service. We had a great evening. Everyone commented on the food which was tasty and such good value for money. We will definitely be returning. Thanks for a great evening

We very much enjoyed the food we were served here. All the food was served piping hot and had some great flavor profiles. It was a very comfortable environment with easy lounging and good areas for chatting.

Live nowhere near the Stables but since getting married back in 2010 up at Wynyard Hall nearby, my family and I make it our mission to come up and eat whenever we can. The food is simply divine, service always spot on and the kids with ages ranging from 20yrs to 6yrs absolutely love it too (bonus)! We visited last Sunday and as per usual the Sunday roast was delicious, they are not stingy with the gravy or the veg. Little one obviously wanted another Yorkshire pudding during meal and then again requested extra gravy both requests came out extra fast and without complaint. Hubby had the steak and ale pie which he said was ‘beautiful’. The desserts of choice on Sunday were Eton Mess and Sticky Toffee pudding, both delicious. My only critique would be ‘bring back the crumble’, absolute best crumble I’ve ever tasted ever in my life! Fact! We’ve travelled up from just outside of London and detoured for that crumble on our way up to Newcastle! Oh and also the Pan Fried Chicken with asparagus, sweet potato and peppercorn sauce is my favourite meal here, divine!

I have just recently visited the stables for a friends birthday and I have to say it was absolutely fabulous! The food was perfect and the staff go above and beyond to make sure your visit is special and memorable! I was there for 2 days running and with tables of 10 or more people and everyone was more than satisfied with the food and the service ! I would recommend this fabulous restaurant to anyone and I will be returning as will all our friends who travelled from London and Dubai ... thanks again.... Justine x

As always our restaurant of choice for food, this place cannot be beaten it really is the best place around for food, quality and service. Sunday lunch all round and always delivers, thank you Danny and the staff 5* we will be back very soon x

Just celebrated my special birthday ... Friday booked into restaurant with friends for lunch , food , service , staff were fantastic ...

Went for a family birthday meal at The Stables, Wynyard tonight. It took an hour for our food to arrive, we were asked three separate times if extra drinks were needed before the food arrived, that’s how long we were waiting. When the food finally came there were issues with three of the six meals ordered. The hanging chicken kebab was cold, the plain chicken burger had béchamel sauce and the rib eye steak was smothered in sauce. I mentioned this to the manager and the kebab was replaced with a hot meal, a plain chicken burger was brought and a steak pie to replace the steak. This was after the Manager suggested scraping the sauces off both meals! No apologies given and they didn’t come back to check if the replacement meals were ok. When the bill came they had charged for the steak and ‘replacement meal’, no deductions for the other two issues. When queried we were told “for the sake of £18.50 we’ll remove it”. Customer service was appalling and ruined what should have been an enjoyable family meal. Will not be returning and recommend that they treat their customers with more courtesy and respect in the future.

After Waiting an hour for food it would have been appreciated to have it served warm, unfortunately not. Cold food with dirty plates was just the start. Three of my parties six meals were returned, we genuinely couldn’t distinguish a bowl of soup from a rib eye steak there was so much sauce hiding god knows what. At least the offending meals were replaced, imagine my surprise when being asked to pay for them all! The manager seemed out of his depth, rude and inexperienced. Facebook complaints deleted almost instantly, make of that what you will.

Originally left a review on their Facebook page which was deleted within 5 minutes, which says it all really. Visited for my nanna's birthday which they managed to completely ruin through sheer incompetence. Food arrived an hour after ordering, mostly cold and different to how it was requested (ie a 'plain burger' arrived with sauce on which the manager suggested we could just 'scrape off'). The steak was covered in so much sauce I assume it was either burnt and they were trying to hide this fact or the chef misunderstood and thought someone had ordered soup.

Seeing as my review on their facebook page keeps being deleted id like to make it known for my nannas 80th birthday celebrations we came here and 3 out of the 6 meals we ordered weren't right and charged for. My sister ordered a steak which was drenched in sauce, my mams came stone cold and my chicken burger i asked for plain had sauce all over it. We queried the bill and the manager hit back with attitude "for the sake of 18 pound ill take it off". The manager didnt have any remorse whatsoever for our awful experience and service and instead gave us attitude/rudeness. Very upset and clearly under new management. Will not be returning .

First visit to The Stables yesterday, don't know why considering I only live 5 mins away, but very glad we went.

We went for an evening meal with 8 friends between Christmas & new year. The restaurant was busy but we had our table sorted early as the menus were presented we were told that a number of items was off the menu, possibly due to the time of year. I had the special nachos which was enormous and tasted reasonable but not spice, Main course was Tandoori fish and this was excellent. Not cheap eats more gastro pub prices, we would visit again.

Lots of good things to say about this little gem. So cosy and welcoming, the staff are attentive and food/drinks arrive quickly. The soup we had was the best I've ever tasted and the price we paid was not too much. Great place.

The food was good but not worth the asking price. To pay £26 for a fillet steak and then be expected to pay £4 for a few veg is too much. The dining room doesn't have a great atmosphere as it is let down by the accoustics. It is very echoey and when there is a young un squealing at the top of its head (not the restaurant's fault) the noise is piercing.

First time visit with friends. Lovely place to go. Really enjoyed the friendly service of the bar staff, quick turnaround on food, great gins. Lovely clean place. If I’m back in the area will like to return.
