Exceptional Sunday roast, thank you. We were made very welcome by the friendly staff who accommodated us and our dog despite having not booked and during peak service. The house wine was excellent and the local real ale perfect. Thanks again, highly recommended

The St Kew Inn is one of our all time favourites. They have a new head chef, George, and he's superb! The venison suet pudding was a particular knock out. And of course, the bar is as unique and delightful as ever.

Overall very disappointing. The waitress lacked basic awareness and didn’t take the order correctly. The food was nicely presented but not really as described on the menu. The scallops had an overpowering herb crust but the menu said lemon and herb butter which would have been a perfect match. The crust completely overpowered the sweet flavour of the scallops. The other food was very overpriced and portions mean. What we had was very average. There are far better places to eat locally with all the lovely local Cornish food.

Arriving without a table reservation at about 7.30pm midweek we felt fortunate to told a table could be found for the 5 of us and the dog. As we passed by the huge open fireplace in the bar area I would have loved to sit there as it looked so inviting. We were shown along a little passage to another eating area which was very quaint and had a small log burner - we were the only people in this area I suppose because it was a little late in the evening and midweek. Due to differing appetites we all had different items from the menu including starters, mains and a cheeseboard which was all served at the same time with no problem. Everything was delicious from monkfish scampi, burger - not just any burger, fish and chips with crushed minted peas and homemade tartare sauce and the most tasty cheese n crackers. Every morsel was appreciated. We enjoyed it so much we booked a early evening table Friday night. Food was once again fabulous and it was great that the tables were full as we didn't feel like we were holding up the staff from closing down. Although the food was a little higher priced than most places we visited it was certainly worth every penny. There are some homemade chutneys etc to purchase and we bought the chilli jam. I would love to visit again and have a table in the bar area.

Great location. The chef that created its wonderful reputation has left. We ordered: 1) peppered ox cheek on a pearl barley and vegetable bed: perfect, unctuous, autumnal melt in the mouth satisfaction. And 2) wild mushroom ragu with pasta: very pasta and no discernible mushroom, replacement dish only a sliver better. The red wine was cool & mediocre. The front of house handled our problem with poise and dignity, for which we tipped, the offending meal was not charged for. Not again.

Fabulous venue, staff all very friendly and helpful. It was an early lunch and I wasn’t super hungry so I chose a starter and a side. Whilst my chicken Caesar salad had a good dressing, I kid you not the size of the portion was shocking. Think ramekin size and priced at £12 it was a complete con. You can imagine just how much chicken was evident (desert spoon at most) and it totally lacked anchovies. Had to ask for some. Now I’ve eaten in a lot of restaurants and pubs in my lifetime and NEVER have I been so shocked at portion sizes as I was today. BEWARE go for a beer (good ales) but don’t eat here, it’s a complete con!

We live in mid Cornwall but for some reason have never been to this pub before. Going out for a walk and lunch for my birthday and stumbled across this lovely pub set in pretty hamlet. Menu looked nice and the food was outstanding. Prices were reasonable as the food was a bit more special than your average pub lunch. We ate in the beer garden which was ideal for dogs as there was plenty of shade and a stream. Pub looked well kept and not overally modernised. We had a look around the Church next door afterwards

This was our first visit and we were immediately impressed by the imposing and characterful building. Unfortunately, our welcome wasn’t very warm - there was an atmosphere amongst the staff who were very quiet as if something bad had happened to upset them. Anyway, we pushed on regardless and my wife and I ordered the beef short rib which soon arrived - generous portions perfectly cooked with the unctuous meat falling off the bone. The flavour was very strong - we liked it but some might well not. The service improved through the evening and we enjoyed our meal and wouldn’t hesitate to go return.

This is a wonderful pub with terrific food, lovely staff and in a special setting. However a recent visit was spoiled by a couple coming in for lunch in the bar area with a medium sized dog who they would not leave alone allowing it to put it paws on the dining table, jump on their lap continuously, get in the way of others. The dog was generally fawned over in loud voices which got it even more worked up and it became even more frazzled by all this attention. and would not sit still. Diners in the bar area were fed up by all this fuss. In the end we could take this nonsense no longer and left without ordering lunch. On leaving I did make mention of our disquiet to the manager. It is great that dogs are allowed pubs but perhaps a (humorous) sign could be on display that dogs must be well behaved and not disturb others although in this case it was the owners who were to blame, not the poor dog.

Definitely worth the drive and visit! Easy to find and also a stunning building in a small village. The atmosphere is laid back and quality. The bar area is cosy and welcoming. Recommend you make a reservation, we aimed for 19:30 after a long day walking. We sat in their bar area first and enjoyed some local beer and pork scratchings, which are made fresh and onsite in their kitchen. The starters were difficult to choose from, but we had the Caesar salad and crab meat Welsh rarebit which were both phenomenal. If there are two of you going I would definitely recommend doing the beef short rib. It’s massive and the best one I’ve tried…not to mention the Gherkin Gravy!

Then when mains came it blew us away. Hake & John Dorey we’re amazing but I’ve never tasted a pork belly like that in my Life… accompanying sauces were delicious. Wonderful food mainly cooked over coal. Food is top draw with great flavours. Superb sirloin steak cooked rare on the bone and beautiful Monk fish again cooked on the bone. Definitely give it a visit if you can.

Very welcoming, Great ice cream flavours. Especially the Ferrero Roche and Millionaires shortbread. Lady went above and beyond for our dog letting her sit in the shade on a 25 degree day to enjoy her pup cup. Thank you!

Visiting Port Issac to buy lobsters. Decided to have a light lunch at the Mote. Lovely welcome, sat down stairs. My wife had the leek & courgette soup & i had the crab & cheese melt. All the food was very tasty & well presented. Very enjoyable lunch.

the only place open on a Sunday on St Martins! So glad it was open, it was absolutely heaving but we got there in time to get seats and what was left of the cakes and drinks.
