Took my mum for her birthday last night amazing food staff and all round great place great value for money 100% recommended

Vivir muy local entró por comida. La hamburguesa fabulosa el lado italiano del menú lo que compramos fue horrible. Bruchetta era tan mala que no se parecía en nada a la morena de verdad. Las albóndigas muy pobres literalmente solo salsa la pasta como lo haríamos en casa. La hamburguesa y patatas fritas era agradable presentado bien fresco. Lo compré para mi hijo de 3 años como ningún menú infantil, pero hacen porciones más pequeñas. Quizás quitar la parte italiana y hacer las otras partes del menú que sería mejor servicio era bueno ser honesto bebidas precios razonables, pero si te encanta la comida italiana en el corazón evitar esa parte de ella.

Fortunately, the Squirrel has undergone a successful refurbishment & a complete change of management and menu. Very pleased with the results as we have had disappointing meals here in the past. Not so with the new improved Squirrel. The carvery has gone, thank goodness, to be replaced by traditional fare and also a good selection of Italian meals. The service is very good and the staff exceedingly friendly& obliging. We will most certainly put it on our list of places to eat in the future & look forward to our next visit.

I visited the Squirrel yesterday for an evening meal, together with our family. The venue is under new ownership. The food was high quality and the service was an excellent standard. I would recommend the Squirrel Restaurant to others and will return soon. Sean Egan

Went here with my fiancée for a date night meal and chose this place due to it having some good reviews and a new Italian kitchen along with the usual pub fare. We ordered from the 'Italian' menu but unfortunately was presented with the same catering suppliers meal in a porcelain dish that you get in any old pub. Looked exactly the same and tasted exactly, not home made or Italian at all other than the name 'lasagne'. Massively disappointed and won't be visiting again

Had a lovely time with the family here, the new team are super friendly and welcoming. The quality of the food was brilliant. Will be back soon!

So while I wish the new owners the very best, they need to set their stall out properly. We came from Lytham to Fleetwood today and decided on a visit to the Squirrel an old favourite in Bispham. Checked the website and found promises of Sunday roasts and photos of succulent meats, gravy and Yorkshire puddings. Best of all and this is great…. 20% of for Blue Light members. Couldn’t get there fast enough. Imagine our horror to find a cheerful lady saying we are new and we don’t do the carvery or roasts anymore. Even on these reviews I’m being asked if I’d recommend the Sunday Roast. End of an era that’s all I can say…. End of an era. Alfred would turn in his grave, if he had one.

Simply went as there was Italian food on. What a pleasant surprise. The food was excellent 5* quality as good as any bistro I’ve been in it was simply that good!!! And the prices, me n MeJo have paid double and not itch as not been as good as here!!! Give this place a try, you won’t be disappointed!!! Smiffy.

He estado yendo a la ardilla por más de 20 años y han empezado a hacer comida de nuevo. Entré a probarlo y conseguí la mezcla de 4 por 3 para compartir también con amigos. Tony que trabaja allí fue servicial, cuando pedí la mezcla y el partido dije que me sorprendiera con lo que consiguieron ya que había una pareja que no tenían, pero no tengo quejas. Mi amiga también pidió 2 hamburguesas justo antes de las 9 de la noche, pero yo estaba lleno, así que terminé llevándomelo a casa y lo comí más tarde. Fue encantador. Sin duda volveremos allí de nuevo.

Resultó que algo de comer alrededor de las 3 pm entró en un ambiente muerto caminó hasta el bar para preguntar si se estaba sirviendo comida fue ignorado durante unos buenos 5 a 10 minutos, ya que estaban demasiado ocupados charlando entre sí en la parte trasera - después de esto unos 2 minutos después otra pareja entra y se sientan Claramente aquí al personal no le importan demasiado los clientes o los negocios Honestamente, ¿cómo es que el lugar sigue estando con el personal como que debe avergonzarse de una completa falta de respeto Espero que la gerencia vea que está aquí el personal es inútil y consigue el despedido Si la gerencia ve esto para investigar el tiempo fue alrededor de 3 ish

**The Squirrel is NO LONGER a Stonehouse carvery pub** It has recently become "Mangiamo at the Squirrel" run by a Blackpool bloke. Wouldn't want anyone to be put off trying it because of the previous poor reviews about the old carvery pub. Good luck with the new venture 👍

It was an experience. The service was excellent. The decor was less so. Tape and Christmas trimmings stuck to the walls and ceiling, grime and sust everywhere, dents, chipped paint, and greasy hand prints from hundreds of hands on the wall by the bar. All this would be normal had we not been told about how it had literally just been decorated... Even broken windows with no boards, covering or patch. For a venue that's been closed for refurbishment, it's rather disappointing to see that it's so dishevelled. If you are proud of the work, check it and make sure its been done before boasting about it to customers.

Was really disappointed. Came in the other day with my friend and her kids. Food was cold and dry, mash was very lumpy. Meat was very gamey. Went back to get another drink and was stood 10 minutes while the server was stood talking to somebody. It was very quiet so that wasn't why. We won't be back unfortunately. Pricing was ok atleast.

Honestamente, la ardilla ha ido bajando lentamente colina abajo y mi experiencia más reciente me ha hecho no querer volver nunca más. Al comprar un asado un domingo a las 6 pm vimos las lámparas de calor sonar en la línea y luego los dos gerentes que inmediatamente comienzan a recoger comida de la línea en frente de todos los clientes con los dedos, cuando subimos y decimos que teníamos boletos para el carvery el gerente rubio grosero nos estaba interrogando cuando compramos los boletos. Le dijimos 5 minutos y la otra morena gerente dijo que no había nada que pudiera hacer la línea estaba fuera, a pesar de que mirando el pase habría sido suficiente para solo nosotros. Nos dijeron que solicitáramos un reembolso y luego inmediatamente volvieron a recoger la línea con los dedos, sin tener el profesionalismo para llevarla a la parte trasera y cargar un plato para ellos mismos. Al final tuvimos que ir a otro lugar, sentimos que los gerentes realmente no se preocupaban por la experiencia de los clientes, simplemente un servicio al cliente realmente pobre. En lugar de que alguien se acerque y se disculpe después de publicar esta reseña en su página de Google, acabamos de recibir una respuesta básicamente diciendo que estamos equivocados y lo que vimos y experimentamos estuvo mal porque no lo toleran, obviamente, es necesario tener una conversación con su equipo, entonces si los clientes están viendo esto. Gracias por tomarse el tiempo para leer mi opinión y simplemente confirmar mis pensamientos de que no te importa la experiencia del cliente invalidándonos - si tienes cámaras debe comprobarlos en 14. 07 . 24 .

Honestly squirrel has just been slowly going down hill and my most recent experience has just made me never want to go back again. When buying a roast on a Sunday at 6pm we saw the heat lamps go off on the line and then the two managers who immediately start picking food off the line infront of all the customers with their fingers, when we go up and say we had tickets for the carvery the rude blonde manager was quizzing us on when we bought the tickets. We told her 5 minutes and the other brunette manager said there was nothing she could do the line was off, even though by looking at the pass there would have been enough for just us. We were told to request a refund and then they immediately went back to picking at the line with their fingers, not having the professionalism to take it to the back and load up a plate for themselves. In the end we had to go elsewhere, felt like the managers just really didn't care about customers experience, just really poor customer service.

Very poor carvery food dried up, stuffing you would not feed a dog. Only 2 choices meat, no receipt on the till don't think I'll visit again.

Went in here for carvery 27/7/24 there is only one word to describe my experience DISGUSTING. Waited a while for someone to come and serve. Beef tough, Gammon that was put on my plate was all fat,Turkey was ok. Peas were all dried up roast potatoes burnt, cauliflower cheese very hard,Yorkshire pudding you needed a hammer and chisel,only a small amount of gravy left and to top it all stone cold. I went back with my plate and had to wait again as no one to serve when they came I told them it was cold and I asked them to put it in micro wave and bring more gravy this they did. On my way out I noticed a few tables had plates with left over food on them I wonder why. Well I will never return I gave a score of 1 but infact it should be 0. Very very disappointing

Really helpful, friendly staff made a massive difference. Food was good and plenty, enjoyed cavery and pizza. Kids meals, bouncy castle and icecream machine a real hit. App was a nightmare but staff patient and resourceful.

Staff are lovely but wouldn't advise goin for the break fast 7 pluss people waiting to eat cook brings out four eggs gone back to work hungry

Had a lovely carvery & drinks but desert's took awhile to arrive

We only had starter / sharer, but it took over half an hour, despite it being quiet. They didn't bring plates and seemed very put out when we asked for them. The waitress did not speak and showed no interest in customer service. We won't be going there again. The food itself was awful and near cold. It's just not good enough.

Love this place, always go on special occasions. Definitely would recommend, food is amazing and the prices are great!

Well where do I start with this Review! Been going to the squirrel for sometime now and over the last few weeks the only way to describe each visit is it’s become a Child’s Playground! I attended here last week and saw the current manager showing her belly and trying to do some kind of dancing on the floor blind drunk, to then attend last night being (Saturday) For the England match and from around 8 it became a Playground for again the 2 managers kids and again the 2 of them being blind drunk. Over the weeks there children leaving a pub at close it’s a disgrace that a company like yourselves allows such behaviour from there staff! This Pub is not what it used to be. The only good thing a can comment on is the Food on this occasion and the service from the lovely lady in the restaurant!

I love the squirrel pub we go regularly for Sunday lunch it's such a friendly atmosphere the staff are great colette one of the employees goes out of her way we are booking a baby shower their soon can't wait .

The people were so sweet! Collette on the bar was a good laugh and poured and excellent pint! Ciaran in the kitchen who made the best pizza I have ever made! Both were amazingly kind and made my experience very special!

Had a great family meal here. The kids loved the bouncy castle and ice cream machine. It had a lovely relaxed atmosphere and the staff were great with everyone. Will definitely be going back.

Considering the dining room decor has not changed since I first visited in the 90’s lol still clean, lovely breakfast buffet, second time we have visited this week. Excellent customer service from Tilly ! Will deffo be visiting again 😁

Went on Sunday for our usual carvery got served at the bar and paid for the carvery and found a table to sit at problem was we had to clean it our selves and the other tables were the same so anyone coming in would have to clean the table as well.There was no table service so if you wanted anything you had to get up and get it yourself .Used the squirrel for a long time but it wasn't the same the food was average and it's always been better than that, halfway through our meal a old man walked out of the kitchen who could hardly walk to put it bluntly with what he was wearing we wouldn't like that to be seen working in a kitchen .We got there just after 12.00 and there was only 2 other people there we left about 12.30 and still no one came in which is very rare as there has always been a que it will be a long time before we go again

This place has gone down hill. The breakfast is not as nice as it used to be. The black pudding is like crisps, you always have to wait for food even though it's all you can eat. You don't want to have to eat half your breakfast while having to wait for other items to come out. The place is filthy, The bench seats were covered in old dry food and flies buzzing around.

Sorry to say didn't like the food at all ..we had a carvery..meat well it was dry and hardly any of it.partner had the big carvery and meat size was the same..veg was watery..service for drinks was very slow..very dark and dingy in there..tables weren't being cleared ..sit near a window on a warm day you will just melt..no blinds to close..toilets wasn't stocked well..no soap,hot water didn't work neither did the hand drier and thank god I has tissues on me ...thanks but no thanks

My calzone was fine, my missus' pizza was not great - the topping was miles away from the edge and the massive crust was so thin it just snapped into shards of bread that you could cut yourself with!😆 Starters were quite small, but also inexpensive, and tasty. Staff were pleasant. Overall, not bad, but if I'd not been in a rush I would've sent the pizza back - I'm assuming this is not how they are meant to be, having never had a pizza like this anywhere else, ever. Maybe they were having an off day, and I wouldn't say I'd never return. All the best for the future - cheers.

What a great little pub 1st time here and it won’t be the last. Tony greeted us as we entered and was so attentive all evening. We had a 3 course meal for £14.99 each what a bargain !!!! We chose tomato soup for starters which came with the best pinwheel pizza dippers what a delight was enough for a full meal on its own for me lol. Then we had a traditional carvery which was lovely and fresh and then apple pie and custard. Tony looked after us from start to finish he was so lovely.

Summer 24: Staff were friendly, food was very good. Extremely loud at the bar, as a result part of our order was missed. We did without it and weren’t changed for it. Boxing Day 2023 - Most of the food was very good especially the crispy Brie and the roast potatoes. Staff were all friendly and helpful but were ridiculously understaffed.

Wife had the carvery which she was very pleased about and I had the Hot honey porker pizza which I really enjoyed, the honey makes a big difference and it's got just enough spices to make your mouth tingle. I usually go for the Calzone pizza which is amazing, but the Hot Honey Porker has it beat, I wonder if I asked nicely they would make it into a Calzone for me? Oh to make your pizzas so much better ask for Garlic butter on them it's free and improves the pizzas no end ( go on a Tuesday and they are half price) Thanks chef 👍

Needs an update, food is OK and quite cheap.

Disappointed! Lack of food and ages to replenish. But more than that....the kitchen manager Hannah had a mighty attitude. I really think customer relations should be a course she needs to take!! I totally understand about the children's plates but there's a way of saying things and your way was just so wrong. Nicky however has superb customer relation skills. Take some lessons Hannah from Nicky. You will get returning customers then hopefully!!

Went in on Saturday, lovely atmosphere, lovely staff, lovely food. All round much better than last time I was in there.

Ordered full works carvery, was definitely not full works 2 pieces of meat 1sausage and 3 dried out pigs in blankets. Yorkshires ran out. Mash was a wash out. Won’t be back

Wasn't great tonight. Meat was really dry and even though we for there early it looked like it had been sat under the lamp for quite a while. Yorkshire pudding was completely inedible, no amount of gravy could soften it..... literally couldn't even cut it. Veg was all great though and roast potatoes as good as always. Staff are lovely... shout out to Jess and Nikki

First time visiting... ordered a table for 6 via the app. Cavery, good. Fish and chips, had better. Burger, like one from a fair ground (full of fat/gristle). Pizza, very good. Service, poor, no meet and greet at door, e.g. to tell you where to sit, no ordering at the table unless you scan a code and order via the app (had to queue at bar). Confusing if you don't know the procedure and haven't visited before. Had to replace 6 dirty glasses for water too. No soap in toilets. Bouncy castle outside for kids, uncollected empties and sun shade umbrellas not stowed correctly, potential for an accident.

Staff are really friendly here and the service was quick. Ordering via the app was easy and the place was very clean. The carvery was very tasty but the Yorkshire pudding let it down. Also the loaded chips had a plastic type of melted cheese and not proper cheese which was disappointing. The cheesy garlic bread was really thin and tasteless. However halloumi fries and pizza wheels were really nice. My son loved the bottomless ice cream and fudge cake is good too. The place is dog friendly. I would recommend they start making their own Yorkshire pudding instead of using frozen ones. They also should improve the garlic bread and change to better cheese on the loaded fries. Overall decent place to grab something to eat and there's always some kind of Meal deal available.

2nd May 2024. This was our second visit to the Squirrel and definitely our last. We decided on the carvery. The miserable portion piece of beef was very fatty, we both left most of it on the plate, all the vegetables were cold, even the roast potatoes. A total disaster. We were looking forward to eating out, but left feeling extremely disappointed.

Where do I start ordered carvery for two absolutely awful meat was dry all vegetables were dry Yorkshire pudding ok in fact the only thing what was ok were the condiments.I was very disgusted with the buckets on the tables how they could put utensils and napkins in them when they looked like the never been in the wash definitely wasn’t my cup of tea

NEW REVIEW 20/04/24 After an odd experience Vicky invited us back for complimentary meal. Nicky went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect with our meal! We can't thank them enough. The food and service was exceptional! We love the squirrel and will continue to go! Thankyou guys so much!! The lady in charge of our daughters 18th birthday meal was absolutely amazing! She went above and beyond and was extremely polite (and funny) we can't thank her enough! All Our guests were happy and the food was great!

We came for a carvery on Saturday 13th April 24 we were very disappointed the food was was all cold including the meat or lack of meat as it was virtually all fat and the amount on plate would not feed a one year old child vegetable choice was very limited roast potatoes all soggy stuffing was none existent just hard burnt bits in dish will definitely not be returning and would advise give it miss

A rather strange experience which was distinctly average on the whole. Service took an extremely long time due to a very large party being served which we were warned about. The food when it arrived, while reasonably cooked, just seemed cheap. The ultimate combo starter did not live up to the name, presented in a tiny bowl with no side plates. The chicken burger was dry The Hot Porker burger was interesting but we expected much more flavour given the listed ingredients. The staff all were very nice but the whole service just felt sad and uninspired. No real expressions of interest or offers of condiments, drinks, coffee which aren't _strictly_ necessary but overall gives the impression they're going through the motions without any real pride. Sadly we probably won't be returning :/

Came in today and we all had a carvery which tasted nice especially the onion gravy and potatoes. The staff nicky and collette were lovely and also helped me with my bruised ankle. Thank you also to mary the chef, the food was great! Will definitely be back soon. Edit: Came back on the 3rd and another great meal and service! Tony was very professional and polite, thank you once again! The tomato and mozzarella pinwheels where AMAZING 😍

Food was lovely,.nice and quiet

Enjoyed our Sunday carvery here. There were 4 types of meat to choose from which all were tasty and tender . An array of hot freshly cooked vegetables adorned the Bain marie with hot delicious thick gravy. On the side table there was an accompaniment of various sauces .All this was served by friendly and welcoming staff . Well worth a visit .

Nicky the barmaid is absolutely lovely and very friendly, couldn't do enough for us. Helped my parents as both are disabled. We all had the carvery which was cooked to perfection. Would recommend, will definitely be back.
