Amazing new years eve and the staff were amazing! Taught us how to make a baby Guinness successfully 😂 spacious pub and excellent service overall

We went for Christmas day dinner 6 of our family. We had an absolutely great time would definitely recommend will be booking for next year. Poor lady who ended up working on her day off was a star even with the hiccup of the system going down and she stepped in to look after all us dinners as she was worried it might ruin our Christmas! I hope you get a good bonus staff like you are hard to find. Well done to all the staff.

We hired the sports room to have our wedding reception on December 21st and the staff just went above and beyond for us. We were allowed in earlier to decorate the room which was great as took the stress out of the evening. The staff were so attentive and drinks kept flowing all night, with noone having to wait long at all. With a large selection of drinks to choose from everyone was catered for, even me being pregnant got to celebrate with everyone with a glass of 0% alcohol presecco which was really nice. I had asked previous to our booking of the food , about having a grazing table as I had always wanted that, the manager advised they had never done one before but they would give it a go for us......... Well they totally smashed it and the grazing table was perfect, the guests absolutely loved it and the food was delicious with so much selection. We really couldn't have asked for anymore and I couldn't rate the whole evening high enough to truly reflect what an amazing evening we had! A massive thank you to Mel and the team for making it the best reception we could ever have wished for. We wouldn't think twice before booking any future events here. A big thank you from the new Mr and Mrs xxx

The Craft/needlework group meet at the Spyglass every week on a Wednesday afternoon. Today 19 of the members called in for a Christmas meal which was pre booked. Everyone was happy with the meals that they received and everyone received what they had ordered. The service was exceptional. Many thanks to Brian Matt and Isla for looking after us. Really good value for money 👏👏🧑‍🎄🎅

The food is good when it eventually arrives! We visited on a night when there was a private function in an adjoining bar and unfortunately this impacted service in the restaurant part of the pub, so service was very slow and we waited for over 45 minutes for our meal. We were told when we placed our order that we were lucky as we were the last order they were taking as they were stopping service after us, this was at 7:15pm. When we booked the table online there was no warning and tables were available all evening up until 9pm so I would have been most annoyed had I turned up to my booked table and told they had stopped service. Hence the low score for service. This is generally a nice pub but needs better management on nights like this.

Pub in Wigmore, Gillingham,Kent. Part of the Greene King group. A large inn with a sports bar area,restaurant, general bar area and a garden. Has large TV screens around the pub showing sports including premier league football. They have a good menu with some great deals like a selection of meals at 2 for £12.99. They also have special offers on specific days like fish & chips for just £6 on Fridays and a good sized Sunday roast for £9. There a seniors menus Monday to Friday before 5pm where you can get 2 courses for £6.49 and 3 courses for just £1 more. There is also a good children's menu. The pub has a nice friendly atmosphere and the restaurant and main pub area are both comfortable. They have a quiz night and occasional live music. All staff I have interacted with have always been friendly and helpful. The pub has a good sized car park, you just need to enter your cars REG into the pad inside. There are 3 charging points for electric vehicles and so e spaces for disabled folks. I would say the pub is suitable for all and a family meal will not break the bank. We visit the Spyglass & Kettle 4-5 times a week for food and drink. The kitchen staff deliver excellent food everytime. All the staff are happy, cheerful and friendly. Deals and offers run all week making it in my opinion cheaper to eat out than to eat in. Thanks.

Two of us visited for Sunday lunch. We both chose the turkey roast dinner. Our food came out after 25minutes which was very reasonable especially considering how busy they were. Our food was served hot on pre-warmed hot plates, a nice touch. The portions were generous, everything was well cooked and very tasty. We would return.

7 of us had meals, all good, priced well. Came out in a reasonable time for a Friday night.

a few months late but we came in for a meal with family which was lovely but the thing that stood out most was the service from the bartender rachel who went above and beyond to meet our needs and make us feel comfortable which was amazing.

Had the roast was not very good. 2 very small pieces of beef and staff could not keep up with the amount of people in there.

Been to this pub a few times and highly recommend food Annette was so professional, friendly and nothing was s problem in fact all staff members are excellent

When we finally got our Sunday roast (waited for an hour) it was dreadful, none of the veg was cooked, the meat was tough the mash was cold ! A lot of people sitting near us were annoyed about the long wait which was never mentioned when the meals were paid for. Very disappointing

I often eat and drink here with my friends, and we always receive a really warm welcome from the staff, particularly Nettie. The food is tasty and good value for money, and always a good atmosphere. Wednesday night quiz nights are good fun, and I also love live music nights.

Update** answering to your comment under my review: we did actually asked the bartender if the garden is open, he went to check and said yes! This is why we went out in the garden! I’ve been coming to your pub lots of times, either for birthday parties or family lunches. But tonight I came with my mum for a drink, weather wasn’t bad so we decided to sit in the garden. As soon as we went in the garden, a dog came out of somewhere and started barking at us and climb on me. We said ok, maybe the doggie is friendly and we sat down at the table with our drinks. A second after that another big dog came out, came next to us and started barking. We really got scared as the dog didn’t seem friendly at all. A kid came out and started talking to the dogs to come back to him but they didn’t seem calm and kept barking at us. We made our way back to the pub and the dogs kept following us. It was really disturbing as we couldn’t enjoy our drinks outside in the garden because of the dogs. It was Friday night, there were no lights in the garden and there were only two scary dogs barking on us.. very disappointing and wouldn’t be back!

Brilliant pub, we eat here often, food is extremely tasty and great value. Would definitely recommend to eat here, we often wait around 30 minutes for food sometimes comes quicker than expected, but haven't got a bad thing to say about the spyglass and kettle.

Didn't eat here, just went in for a beer. Lacked a bit of atmosphere, not many people in, unlike the Saucer used to be on a Saturday evening. Smiley bar staff though.

We went there on Sunday 6th October and we were absolutely disappointed with the food it was well overcooked and out of 6 of us only 1 person ate it due to being hungry all it was dry and hard we left saying we would never go back

Poor on everything except the beer.. Cleaned my plate the 15 chips etc because we were hungry , left pub still hungry. went home and raided the fridge. This was one we wish we had avoided , the cost/portion size we were ripped off . Don't worry owners we won't be back you lifted more than enough of our money.

Had a big family meal for my daughters birthday and I can't fault the service we had from kyia and the kitchen team for the hospitality we was a group of 19 of us at very short notice and the pub was really busy. So I'd like to thank the staff for the hard work they put in. Me and my family will definitely return

Came here for lunch and meet up with in-laws, we booked an earlier table, we arrived and went to bar, lent on it and when I pulled my forearms away I thought I was going to tear my skin away the surface was that sticky, the barmaid who gave the impression she didn’t want to be there got our wine bottle order wrong twice claiming all she heard was “pinot Grigio “ not piñon Grigio rose” , what twice!? Went to table and for god’s sake also sticky, I don’t know what they use to clean but it must be a mixture of water and glue, no surface, if cleaned properly should leave a sticky residue, it’s not difficult! I have to say that for the price point the food was fine, service needs a lot of attention. The exterior of the premises needs an overhaul , rotten and unpainted windows just show a shoddy service and lack of care, in the days where it’s difficult running a public house you should, at the very least make it look attractive to potential new customers, but no it was a we don’t care attitude, and get some staff who actually want to work and please customers, not look at you as if you are asking for too much, it’s a drink and food, not exactly difficult, but it clearly was for the bar staff Will not be going back unless I have to to meet the in-laws Sort it out please

The pub Smells really bad and service was rubbish they seemed like they didn’t want us there. Tables wasn’t cleared. And they was sticky

Great food, always hot and well cooked. Comfortable seating and friendly staff. I havent given it 5 stars as I've visited a few times this summer and the ladies toilet seats are all broken and not secure, which is dangerous and unsafe. How long can simple fixes take.

Understandably busy for a Saturday night, plus there was another band in the other bar, staff ensured all punters were served in a timely manner. Can only sincerely thank Kyih and Cameron. You were both brilliant. We had ordered food to come out at a specific time, and the chef, Ryan, ensured it all happened as planned. We can't fault the evening. Absolute Stars!. All of them. Thank you for making our evening special. Really can't thank them all enough.

I arrived at the Spyglass yesterday and was greeted promptly Via the bar staff Rachel, and could not be more helpful. Food was great and served Via Kyia. Both were polite and friendly I will definitely re visit this venue and recommend to my friends.

We ordered food and it took almost 2 hours to arrive because they "lost our order". We ended up leaving with our food in little bags because they refused to give a refund. The prices may be cheap but thats because they a very few staff and no service.

Just had a really lovely lunch here today 7-8-24 great food couldnt fault it one bit my 9 yr old ate a large cod meal, great food great service

Visited the pub today because of the £5 burgers, which were so much better than expected. It was extremely busy when we arrived, yet the staff thrived despite the large amount of food and drink orders. We also didn't wait too long for food, and when it came we weren't disappointed. Will be visiting again!

Decent if you just want a quiet pint with your friends however the customer service is far from good. It’s almost like it’s a chore to be served, once you are served it is fine. PS - I saw a rat behind the kitchen while i was in the pub garden.

absolutely fantastic service throughout the time there, especially as this was a work meal so quite a few of us there and england was playing so the staff definitely had a lot going on that night. excellent menu variety and really tasty food. they have food deals on during the week aswell and for a good price. would highly recommend spyglass and kettle and will definitely be going again

I recently met up here with some friends from work for dinner and drinks while watching the Euros, and it was fantastic. The atmosphere was lively, making it a great spot for an evening out. The menu had a variety of options at affordable prices, so everyone found something they liked. Thank you to the staff who did an amazing job accommodating our group of 10+ people and handled all our requests perfectly. I would highly recommend this place to friends and family… Definitely worth a visit!

Food came out after waiting 45+ minutes not the first time this has happened the food was not as good as other green king pubs it was warm but not hot the onion rings where soggy and had to wait for mine to be brought out after my burger arrived

Local and friendly pub. The staff are welcoming and there are lots of well-organised events taking place during the week and at different times of the year. The kitchen puts out some very tasty food and the bar is always well stocked with favourites. Televisions are conveniently situated for viewing major sports tournaments and there is a real family and friends atmosphere. Would rate this as one of the best GK pubs in Medway and more low key and personalised rather than Cricketers Rainham. The bar staff always make you feel very welcome and have time for conversation and get drinks orders right.

I bring my Mum to the Spyglass most Thursdays. The food is lovely and very affordable. My Mum has 2 courses for just £5.99! The staff really do go the extra mile. Highly recommend.

Lately every time we come for Wednesday quiz night there is a huge delay in food, tonight being 1.5hrs. Nobody told us there was a wait on food until we asked 45 mins after ordering. Staff don’t seem fussed and are quite rude. After this happening for the 5th time I don’t think I will bother coming again sadly as it seems to have gone really downhill. They say they are understaffed but when the pub is less than half empty and there are four employees on front house this shocks me. Management need a big re-think and to get a lot of improvements done, especially when food has just about been edible lately and with children’s orders coming out with about 5 chips on the plate which is disappointing.

We came in for lunch on a Monday afternoon. It was very quiet. We ordered food through the app, and drinks at the bar as some were not included in the app menu. When we approached the bar to ask a question about the menu, two members of staff blankly walked away when being approached. After waiting for around 30 mins we asked for an update on our food twice. When it arrived after 45 mins we were only then told there was a delay on all food being served, but no real explanation or apology was given. The food was mostly edible, but wouldn’t say it was enjoyable at all. It obviously was reheated, but still had time for some elements to go cold again. While I understand there was a known delay, the overall attitude and approach from all of the staff we encountered was disappointing. They didn’t seem interested, and were un phased by the low quality of their food and their service today. If I ever visit again, I very much hope for a vast improvement on todays’ experience, as the beautiful setting offers so much potential for a nice afternoon.

Booked the room with Pool Tables as we had a booking of 20 people, children and adults. Ordered food, came out within 15 minutes of ordering. Cheap food and drink. Kids were entertained, being able to play pool and adults equally entertained as the football was on the tv. Lovely bite to eat out!
