The Spur Country Pub & Restaurant in Arun

We visited this pub on the way home after a long walk with our dog 'Watson'. Dogs were allowed in the bar, the place was busy so had a nice country atmosphere, the bar keeper was friendly enough and we found a corner to sit and enjoy drinks and a portion of very nice chips! Menu looked good as did the roast on the table next to us so we will be back to try it out soon. Bar area is cosy but the pub has a large dining area and I could see it was larger still via a courtyard so deceptively big.

We hadn't booked so we're pleased to get a table, food, beer and staff were first rate 👌

Service quite slow but it was v busy

First visit for many years. A proper family run pub and restaurant with an extensive, authentic British pub menu. Will be back to sample more soon

Sadly will not be going back!! Purely based on the attitude / unfriendliness of the person "in charge" who we assume was the duty manager/owner. A shame he left us this impression as the food was very tasty pub grub at a reasonable price and the waiting staff were lovely. I'd give the wait staff a 5 stars and him 1. I've evened it to a 3 star. The first people to arrive, unlocked the bolt on the door did not even open it. Did not say hello, did not smile or give any friendly hospitality. Far from a country pub feel. Basically slammed the bill down and walked off. No thank you no goodbye. Awful manner about him and should consider his role in hospitality.

Very tasty food and good sized portions.

We rounded off a day at Goodwood Races with a meal at the Spurs. They never disappoint. Over the years, we have got to know the landlady who is such an amazing lady. She is always so welcoming as are all the staff. Our waitress (sorry, can't remember her name) was so friendly and helpful. Not an easy task serving so many of us. The young man behind the bar also showed such patience sorting out the bill 🤣. Looking forward to next year after the 🏇🏇🏇

We stay in our motorhome and eat here twice a year before heading to Goodwood. Wouldn't stay anywhere else.... beautiful pub, fab food and lovely staff. See you in April.

What a shame this place has become the way it has. Hadn't visited the Spur in over 25 years and may have been delusional that it would remain as I remembered. Unfortunately not the case. It's location between Arundel and Chichester used to be ideal for a quick escape to the countryside and the lovely kept cottage gardens are now long gone. Surprised that business is that slow that they shut during the afternoon as i assume it's not viable to remain open a far cry from the busy eatery ot used to be. Such a shame I guess I'll have to remember the good times here rather than relive them.

Good food, friendly pub for a drink as well. Hosts some classic car meets, has skittle alley for hire for larger groups.

Meal size is big. I had a starter for lunch and is was enough. Service a little slow but could've been due to being a party of 11. Lots of nooks and crannies!

We did ring 3 times and went to voice mail, decided to risk it and come anyway but lots of tables. Food was a good price but the pizza was lacking in taste. Not sure if it was pizza base was exactly fresh and lacked the prosciutto (spotted 3 pieces). The cheesy garlic fries were great.

I phoned (during opening hours) to try to book a table. No reply, it went to the answerphone. They didn’t call back.

My wife and I had the roast beef. Beef good, roast potatoes and parsnips under cooked, Yorkshire pudding dreadful. Main £17. Would not rush back.

We have just met up with friends at The Spur and very much enjoyed our our evening meal at this very pleasant establishment. From the telephone booking, ordering drinks, making our choices and eating the food everything was absolutely wonderful. Without doubt, this was the best 'pub meal we have had for ages. The food was beautifully prepared and was very tasty. Would heartily recommend. We live in Dorset, however we will definitely revisit the Spur when we are next in the Slindon area. Thanks so much.

Stopped on the off chance and was blown away. Will definitely be back. Great food, good beer choice and a stunning garden.

We enjoyed a lovely meal at The Spur, Slindon. I chose the chicken & ham pie which came with a good selection of vegetables. The pie was lovely & served with dauphinoise potatoes. My son went for the Spur Burger which he also thoroughly enjoyed. I couldn't resist the white chocolate & almond cheesecake with black cherries.

Spur of the moment lunch after a walk around Slindon. Excellent food. Attentive staff and a relaxing atmosphere. Surprisingly spacious and a good looking garden area for the warmer months.

Our first visit to The Spur for a weekday lunch was very enjoyable. There was a broad choice of main courses. The food was hot and tasty. We shall certainly dine there again

Was here for a wake nice spread including vegan and vegetarian Had a couple of neckoil ipa 6 pounds a pint I thought a bit expensive Some of the dinners coming out looked very tasty and good portions

Cold temperature, despite log burner but a warm welcome. Food excellent and good value. (Too much gravy on plate and coffee not to my taste but being picky!) I will go again, with more layers on!

Lovely place for lunch. They also have lots of old car meets there which is of interst to many.

Hired the skittles room, was a great venu, separate from the main pub. Atmosphere was really made by the group of people, but the room was great for 16 of us, with plenty of space for us all. The food was good and all served on time, with no one waiting for food, and all our diatry needs were looked after.

A smashing country pub with a warm welcome from the staff and a comfortable environment to sit and eat. The food was of a good standard without the hefty price tag. Two good, well kept real ales. If I'm in the area again, I will definitely go back.

I went here with my family to have a meal. We were unnoticed for the entire time we were there. Having driven 11 miles to experience their food. Poor customer service, atmosphere poor, I suppose the food would have been the same too. I will never waste my time, energy or fuel going here again.

One of those places we drive past almost everyday. So glad we stopped by tonight for our evening meal. Excellent home made hot food. Good service and lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be returning again. Thank you for a very enjoyable meal.

Country pub vibes with nice atmosphere. Lots of seating inside and out. Food was good but could do with more vegan options. Facilities were good but no hand towels in the bathroom. Staff were good and attentive to the table, I would advise booking, we went on a Wednesday and it was fairly busy at lunch time

Dog friendly pub, plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. Friendly staff. Good menu with a choice of potatoes for each dish. Separate pizza menu. Numerous ice cream flavours and four sorbets. Not expensive at under £50, main, desert and drink for two. Saw a review saying the pies were stuffed full. I had the chicken and ham pie, and it was stuffed full with chunks of chicken breast and ham.

They serve Directors so they can be forgiven most things. But they have a restaurant area and still they exclude drinkers by reserving tables in the bar area. If it's not a lovely day for the garden it might be worth finding somewhere else for lunch.

Great pub! Turned up last minute, just before the kitchen closed but the staff were welcoming and friendly. We had a delicious lunch. This is a lovely find in beautiful countryside.

Excellent Sunday roast! Piping hot and variety of vegetables served. Crumble was very good too !!!

Lovely place to take time out for a meal and a beer or glass of what you like . Friendly staff great food, check the specials board. The only downside is the limited menu, but apart from that it still gets 5 stars.

First time back for 4 years. It hasn't changed. The food is lovely and the owners very pleasant. It's just a great pub all round.

We had a delightful lunch at the Spur on Sunday. The staff were so helpful and friendly and willing to accommodate our dietary requirements. Everyone went above and beyond to make our visit pleasant and the food was wonderful.

Cracking pub! Traditional home cooked food and really welcoming staff. We wanted a nice pub lunch on a Monday, and The Spur serves 7 days a week (12-3) for lunch on Monday. The menu is wide and everything looks tasty, plus a great range of proper British puddings. We had pies and they were amazing, full of meat and really tasty, also love getting a plate of veg and full jug of gravy with a pie. The place is very big, lots of room to eat comfortably, very friendly staff, and a decent range of beer. You will not be disappointed if you come here

Very nice and clean but needs to be more cozy as its all a bit open with a mismatch between the two ends of the pub.

Our walking group is quite choosy where we have lunch after our walks. The Spur has great food, and the staff are very friendly. It's ideally situated for walks in the Slindon area.

Spur of the moment (get it) decision to stop here. So glad we did as from the moment we entered we had a warm welcome. Directors bitter in perfect condition and wonderful, genuinely home cooked food including proper pies made in house. Lots of space with tables sensibly spaced and good outside options. Not local to me but I will visit again and soon.

We popped in for a spot of lunch with our two Cockerpoo's on the way to see our Son at Portsmouth Uni. The dogs were welcomed with open arms. The bar staff was open and approachable. The landlady and landlord were both relaxed and chatty with us and we were made to feel like we were one of the locals. The food was reasonably priced and a good size portion. Definitely

Members of staff were great polite and happy in their work. I came with my husband who arranged a surprise visit from a school I hadn't seen for 26 years brilliant. Food was great thank you to you all at Spur.

Excellent meal here last night. Value for money, friendly staff, lovely pub. I'm usually quite hard to please when eating out, but I couldn't fault The Spur. Family had 1 x fish & chips, 2 x rack of ribs, 1 x meze platter, 1 x Berry crumble and 2 x ice cream waffles. All delicious!
