The Spinney Pub in Sandwell

This place is absolutely first class, the food is top notch, prices are reasonable compared to other places in the area, but the food especially the curries are far better than anywhere else in my opinion, infact the wife won’t go anywhere else anymore because nowhere comes close for the money. The chef specials are our go to curries, chicken, lamb , or prawn claypots are beautiful, I think the naan bread here are second to none. Infact writing this has made my decision to go tonight. 😛

First time trying the spinney after hearing good things about it. Drinks were very well priced and quick service at the bar. Food was very good value too. We ordered a mixie and lollipop chicken to start, it took an hour to arrive which was a long time for a Desi pub. It was very good once it arrived. We then ordered a curry each, was a nice touch being asked how hot we wanted them. I always have a butter chicken and it was great here and very good value around £9 for curry and rice and £15 for the large mixie.

I visted The Spinney with my husband and 2 young children. This is a hidden gem. Amazing food. We ordered meat & non veg dishes and they were delicious and so well cooked. So much to choose from on the menu. We all enjoyed the food. The service was very quick and efficient. The young lady that was serving us was very pleasant and lovely. We felt very welcomed and we will most definitely be coming back.

Me and my husband visited The Spinney public house for food. I would like to highlight the exemplary customer service received from a waitress called Bipana ( apologies if I heard your name incorrectly). Bipana was attentive but not pushy and met all our needs and on this occasion the service really stood for us and made the whole experience a lot more enjoyable. In terms of the food, it tasted fresh and was delicious. We look forward to being served by Bipana again.

WOW! Tried The Spinney's Finger Licking Good curries last night. I am very much impressed by the authentication they have preserved in the Indian curries (especially Dal Makhani and Shahi Paneer which we ordered). The Lip-smacking Indo-Chinese Veggie Noodles and the flavorsome Gulab Jamun were the highlights of the night. THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING TO MAKE US A SPECIAL VEGAN CURRY TOO! WE WILL ORDER AGAIN SOON!

Visited 1st August. Nice friendly staff and boss quick service and all regulations in place so felt comfortable. Lovely waitress service nothing was too much trouble,. We recommend the chilli chicken it was delicious, my daughter doesn't like spicy food but she loved it, the chef came and asked how we were,( lovely chap). Food delicious, will definitely visit again whole visit was relaxing and chilled. Strongly recommended.

This was my second time to visit the Pub this year, Must say that it is the best food I have had from all the places that do similar food in West Midlands, and believe me I have been to a lot of them. Tried the mix grill and prawns during my first visit and a couple of the curries during the second visit. Both times the food was fantastic. The staff are also really friendly and asked if everything was okay once meal served, Santosh the Chef also came and spoke to us during our second visit, which was really good.

Held my dad’s 60th birthday party over the weekend at the Spinney for around 25 people. Food and service were both top class. Could not fault at all

Had great time with my family on my 60th birthday celebration. Sixty two peoples attended. Great venue for celebration. Accommodate easily 75 people. Very friendly atmosphere. Food drink and service are excellent. We do regularly attend once a week for barbecue curry and the drink. Never disappointed. Thanks Santosh providing excellent food and smiley service. Well organised. Bar staffs and manager are friendly too. Must visit to taste the food. I do highly recommend.

Yesterday I visited this place and I did not think I could get such authentic Indian food in West Bromwich but apparently I was wrong .The place is pretty much the real thing , cosy environment, friendly staff. Grill section is so mouth watering which I couldn’t express in words you have to go there to feel that .I had the Punjabi chicken curry and Garlic Naan which I can highly recommend . It is one of the place where you can tweet your tum as it was superbly delicious and with very reasonable price . Thank you so much THE SPINNEY for having me there and looking forward to visit again and again .6 star rating to Service and kuddos to chef .!!!

What can I say, Santosh really excelled himself with the Lobster. It’s a special request and isn’t on the normal menu but what a delight. My family and friends were so impressed with the taste, quality and overall presentation of the dish. Top marks to the chef again!!

Chef santosh s food is best out of all desi pubs all over Birmingham. Even he beats standards ,food taste , quality of any other 5 star Indian restaurants . His butter chicken must try dish . Fish pakora . Mix grill is full of flavour and fresh spices . I would say he cook food from scratch as soon as order comes not like other desi pubs just microwave it . I would recommend this place to anyone who's looking to taste authentic Indian punjabi cuisine.

We had family gathering in spinney. Food was delicious ever we had reasonable prices,excellent service, chef is really good, ask us about food which really appreciated from my family as well. I am regular at Spinneys and since chef Santosh has taken over the kitchen I have to say the food is exceptional and consistency high quality.

Popped into the spinney pub West Bromwich and what a surprise we had we had had a mixed grill from here before it’s 8/10 which is bery high from me and his curries ate reasonably priced and made to your tastye and style.Chef Santosh always welcomes everyone with with warm and homely welcome and his food well speaks for itselfgrill are fantastic curries even my dad who doesn’t go into pubs to eat comes in here to taste chef Santosh’s delights fresh off the grill.So we decided to have a change and had chilli fish with egg fried tandoori rice the egg fey was my addition to this already awesome dish and boy was it amazing tasty leaving a little tingle on your tongue begging for more and the rice complimented this dish perfectly hats off this place is a regular for beacuse of the level of service and the quality of food and the price well you will be surprised so don’t ware time try it out and ask for chef Santosh recommendations for the day 4.5 stars and that is because if I gave five stars there’s no room for improvement lol njoy I always do.

New chef is bang on! Lovely food, lovely atmosphere. You got try his lollipop chicken, sizzling Tandoor fish! Sizzling medium lamb chops, Half chicken i could carry on!. He also does delicious currys! Desi Bakra, fish curry. Cant wait to go there again. All food was fresh and juicy with alot flavours.

Great curry with all the trimmings and mixed grill will definitely be returning for more. Generous portions so Monday nights T sorted.

I came here last night with friends to watch boxing and try the mixed grill I have heard so much about. The pub was a dive but I don't mind this as a lot of desi pubs are. The food was ok but maybe only bit above average. What was annoying was they had liverpool tv channel on for a pre season friendly and lots of their fans in there behaving like animals. No boxing so we had to leave and watch the boxing somewhere else.

I had heard from many that this place had gone downhill for food, as the chef had left.

Local pub, came here several times and would argue better then the red lion and talbot...

The Spinney since its refurbishment has served fantastic food.

I have visited this pub a few times and thought the food was ok. The service is not bad. The atmosphere is usually upbeat, but on this visit it was quite still upbeat. But when I visited the pub on Thursday 22nd March 2018, I ordered a small mix grill and lamb Balti with a plain naan. When I reached home and tried the chicken tikka, it was a mix of old pieces and some freshish chicken. The balti curry was a mess and too much of a mish mash. Not freshly cooked. On the next night at home I heated the curry again to see either rice bits or something I can’t bring myself to think of, but I didn’t eat it. I will not be eating here again.

Visited The Spinney on the 21/2/2018 with some friends. We came here at Xmas for our Xmas meal, and we enjoyed the food.

Damn this place is good. Drinks are cheap and the food...... every item on the menu is sooo good. We didn’t have time to eat it all. England has the best restaurants and this is one of them.

I was recommended this place by a friend so thought I'd check it out.

First time we have been here. We had heard good things about this place so decided to give it a try. We order a small mix grill, lamb curry, chips, kadai paneer and 4 naan breads. The food was excellent, we could not fault it at all. We arrived just before 6 the pub was not busy at all. All in all the food cost £30 between 3 of us.

Love the chef he will cook your food exactly as you ask. I love a hot curry and he has called my curry the no name curry because i like abit of everything in it. My husband has a create your own mixed grill and is never dissapointed. Its a loud and lively pub thats slways got sports on..but always made to feel welcome.. so much of regulars now the bar man knows our drinks with out askin and chef knows our food..which i think the personal touches like that make it that bit better. Keep up thd good work chef

Came here for the first time.thought i try it out .firstly when i picked up the menu.it was dirty.covered in grease.then went to order food.gave the little girl a 20 pound note.she gave me change for a 10 pound note.she relieased her mistake.not very talktive.no...

Me recomendó que visite el que visite el León se llama Spinney en todos los santos camino. Todo lo que puedo decir que la comida estaba bien te cobran 50 peniques cada vez utilizando su tarjeta. miserable viejo amigo que sirve cerveza dito con el servicio de comida. Clientela de um no mi tipo de persona! A cinco de la tarde la gente borracha que no jure sonoridad se sienta cómodo comer solo tarde por la noche nunca más me quedaré con León. no con la familia o decente folk! La comida era decente, pero no bastante con algún tipo similar lugares en la zona. grill pub En positivo un montón de pantallas para el deporte. El servicio era muy malo para comer, ya que se olvidaron de nuestra orden y después de 40 minutos se dieron cuenta cuando nos persiguieron. Nos dijeron que no era de carne halal así estar molesto si fue? ! ? El servicio en el bar era perfecto.

Buena comida y buen ambiente, mejor reformarlo. El personal es agradable. Volveré. . Pollo Tikka. son las envolturas,! !

Just had a great chicken jalfrezi here - it was one of the best curries i have had, this place is as good as the Soho Tavern. A little drafty in the main room when the door is opened but regulars and staff were very friendly. Give it a try I will definitely be going back.

Some of the best Indian food I've ever tasted, hands down. The Nepalese chef is held in very high regard, and people travel from all over Birmingham to sample his cooking. Rapidly overtaking the likes of the Red Lion and The Vine, this place is going to be BIG in 2017.

Are just a couple of things that blew my mind. Great chef currys were just as good as the starters my new favourite mixed grill place.

Had a great meal on Christmas Day, it was very busy as you could clearly see. There was a young girl waitressing, it was her first day, she was clearly learning on the job but she did really well !!!

Don't be put off by the location and the poor exterior decor, the effort is well worth it indeed.I was put on to this place by my daughter after she used it by chance one night with her boyfriend, so it is one of those places used by a range of ages, and you can see why. The large tandoori mixed grill would feed four easily, and you regularly see a group of lads in there sharing one with a heap of perfectly cooked nan. The small mixed grill is a challenge and does for two with the masala chips as the perfect side, and they are bang on. The quality of the various meats in the tandoori grill is nigh on excellent and well recommended.The usual range of curries is available including the ubiquitous chicken tikka masala and another highlight is the chilli chicken, not to be missed.The down side? Well not many, but it is a bit cold in the lounge where the food is served, but the spicies soon mean the jacket is off. The last time we were in there the tV footy was on and way too loud, but I am a rugby bloke so maybe that isn't a problem for some.The big + mark is the cost. Four of us eat there for £28 and were well wedged. Decent range of the usual keg beers andlagers is a dissapoinment with no ales but the guiness is kept well. Ample Parking is a joy and easy to get to.I will be going back, largely because everybody else in the family tells me we are!

really good indian/asian food at a reasonable price. I am a meat eater but the tarka daal(lentils) could make me vegetarian, lovely fish tikka and sheek kebab too. really nice!

I come here after football with my local club, Good atmosphere! And nice food! What more can you ask for! I was a little unsure at first, not really knowing anyone there, but its actually quite a good pub!

Been here many a time for a chicken tikka on the skillet and it's always pretty good. No real ales is a bit of a let down, but the back room is good enough for a cheap and cheerful way to pass your time and consolidate your hunger.
