The Speakeasy in Hackney

Ticked the 2 most common things one would look out for in a bar, which are good atmosphere and services. Greeted by a polite member of staff who then pointed us to a nice table and ensured someone came to take our order. The atmosphere was amazing. It had a sliding roof top, so you don't worry if the weather isn't too great. There are also heaters to keep you warm. A large screen showing popular sports. It was a good experience. Nice hangout spot for a group of friends 😉. Budget friendly. No reservations or tickets are needed.

Stumbled upon this place. Lovely staff and great atmosphere. Sunday Roast was a nice surprise.

Where do I begin… some would define happiness as seeing the first smile of their newborn baby or walking down the aisle with their besotted. Me? There is nothing I cherish more than the warm embrace of the Speakeasy on the most miserable of winters nights. The sight of the hallowed turf incites pure unadulterated joy within me, with the knowledge that once again my evening is in the safest of hands and my happiness ensured. Truthfully, the Speakeasy has absolutely everything we could ever want in a local, with as many screens as I can count, and fantastic food and drink with whatever your heart desires! The staff are the friendliest around, and genuinely make the place the delightful place that it is! We had the absolute pleasure of watching the semis and final of the Euros here, and the atmosphere was of course second to none! Even when we had missed the booking time for the final they had kept some tables back for regulars to save the day! By far the best pub around for watching live football, and without a doubt our favourite pinting destination for years to come.

How long have we got. I mean, talk about a hole in one. Absolute carnage all over the gaff. Number 1; it’s all about the people first, and don’t get me wrong besides a few Gary’s and Phil’s everyone are fabulous. The staff, perfect. The food almost perfect. The vibes… 11/10. Cannot say one bad word about this place.

It all started in the summer of 24’… Some say the happiest day of their lives; is the birth of their first child, marrying their true love or achieving sporting greatness. I respectfully disagree, the best day of my life was in fact discovering Speakeasy ❤️ A truly enlightening place to enjoy some beautifully brewed beer with a beautiful crowd of people.

We’ve been going to the Speakeasy for years and have been regulars during the Euros. We missed the booking slot for the final but they reached out on Instagram as they’d saved a few places for regulars - so kind and thoughtful!! Aside from that, atmosphere is always buzzing, pitchers of Asahi are always great, and food is delicious! Highly recommend 😊

The Speakeasy is a beautiful bar, Nights here are long under the stars When you have a pint here, Maybe even some caviar, You’ll see no other place in London is on par. So I will never stray too far, From this beautiful bar!!!

Be careful stepping foot in this establishment - you’ll never look at your local the same way ever again. The Speakeasy has it all. Ice cold beers (bargains galore), electric atmosphere, quality staff (including the best bouncers in LDN), banging grub and the ultimate set-up for consuming sport. Here’s a fun fact for you: The Speakeasy has the highest density of screens for watching sport out of any establishment in Northern Europe - and as a result - it has been dubbed a sports fan’s Valhalla in multiple publications. You could go on a 12-month bar crawl through London and you wouldn't find another boozer like the Speakeasy: where else in this great city can you watch a Euros semi-final surrounded by England fans and stroll casually into the urinals (no queue), then casually up to the bar (no queue) for a pint of the tremendous own-brand Speakeasy lager? It pains me that I can only award this place five stars...

Great setup, class prices, lovely staff! Would be the best place to watch England in London if they turned up the commentary volume a bit more and really pumped the England songs at HT/FT.

Poor service from the bouncers, average vibe and expensive drinks. Better than doing nothing on a Friday night but not better than countless pubs nearby.

Pretty good prices here, fast to get a pint too. Didn’t have to wait once. I remember the lady in the toilets was working particularly hard to keep the place clean and stocked up, which is appreciated, worth a shout out.

A good fun place to have a drink

Prices are always different for the same drinks. We gave up and decided to abandon this place forever when a small glass of tap soda in a grimy plastic cup was suddenly £4. The wine is truly horrible, and I’m not that fussy, but the clincher is the staff, who (with the exception of very pleasant door staff) are so rude it takes your breath away - they literally ignore you when you speak. See ya!

Saw a very accomplished and rousing band here. Food was typical, low grade pub grub (wraps, chips, other fried delights). Vaping and smoking by patrons not challenged here. People blew smoke in to other peoples faces throughout. Would *not* visit again. Most staff nice enough. Best part is it’s outdoors location in warmer weather. Fairly trashy with a rough-ish undertone.

Drinks ok, food poor. Ordered a load of starters to share with a group of us. Chicken wings were the tiniest things I’ve ever seen, the waiter was uninterested and clearly didn’t want to be there. They did however bring out a few more complimentary overcooked micro chicken wings, thanks guys 😊

Genuinely one of the nicest places I have been, the staff are lovely, the drinks are fairly priced and the food is good, the garden is great with plenty of seating and heaters for those colder nights. A must visit for anyone curious

My friends and I couldn’t believe how rude the bar staff were. It was a sunny afternoon with 3 tables to serve and they were SO miserable and judgemental. It almost felt like bullying any time you went up to the bar. Don’t go. There are so many better options in Dalston

Speak easy is one of my favourite places. The service is wonderful. And the boss is friendly and great! This place is a vibe. If you ever need to go anywhere during a hot summers day. Then it's here.

Decent all round bar. Fantastic value, have a lot of choice for lagers. Cocktails are well made and again decent value. There is a large amount of outdoor seating. Everyone from the bar staff to the security were very friendly and welcoming. They serve some nice nibbles and nachos as well.

I had the most splendid experience drinking at Speakeasy, the staff were so welcoming, friendly and overall wonderful. This venue will always hold a special place in my heart. If you are in the area please go. Ross the manager is one of the warmest and swell gentleman I have ever met.

The worst place to organise a drinks do. No communication in between managements. Despite booking a month in advance for a drink event on the 19th July, 2022, going multiple times to speak and confirm the booking with the management, I had to found our that the man in charge had no clue about my booking. Even though it was written in their diary. Which was kept with the security. When asked about the reservation and I got a reply by the manager that I can go somewhere else if I have a problem with this. I would've, if I hadn't told my friends meet there for a drink already. The attitude of the manager was so unpleasant throughout the evening that I was worried that he'll be rude with my guests and so I was buying most of the drinks, just to keep them away from the bar and from the manager. The service in the bar from straight face, no smile bar staffs were telling me that they weren't so happy to work their either. My advice, stay away.

Great place to chill either on your own or with mates. Superb drink prices and offers from 5 till 7. Fantastic for a sunny days drinking, take a jumper or a jacket though as it can get cold.
