Experienced a wonderful Steak Masterclass yesterday with a friend at South Coast Cookery in Southsea Deli. The atmosphere was superb, learned so much and got to enjoy a variety of absolutely phenomenal quality steaks from Isle of Wight! A brilliant birthday treat. Highly highly recommended and will certainly be trying another class soon. Daniel was a really warm host with lots of knowledge to share in a fun, charismatic yet calm way. Clearly knows his stuff and has great passion for food, which is infectious. Left feeling inspired to cook more with better sourced ingredients. Thank you very much for a lovely evening.

Our second food workshop at South Coast Cookery, and just like the 1st one it was great fun. The food we made was delicious. Who knew making tzatziki could be so simple and so much better than shop bought versions. Just like you get in Greece 🙂

Lovely cafe- very bright and clean space with fantastic fresh food

Me and my boyfriend did the Korean Bibimbap cooking class tonight and it did not disappoint! Lulu and the staff were amazing, we learnt a lot and ate a lot of good food we cooked ourselves! It was very sociable, meeting 8 other people booked onto the course was fun! We are excited to try out more classes, there’s so many to choose from!

We had a wonderful time at the Thai Fishcake and knife skills cookery class last night. Alfie and Daniel were such lovely hosts, helpful and friendly. The venue for a cooking class was fantastic! We are delighted to have this on our doorstep and we will definitely be back - to try out the deli for breakfast and to do the cinnamon rolls cookery class! Highly recommend.

I attended the Greek Souvlaki workshop with my daughter and we both had an amazing time. Great location and work space, amazing staff and we made the nicest Greek meal. Would highly recommend

My partner and I attended the pasta making workshop. It was brilliant and would definitely recommend it! The vibe was very chill and friendly. The instructions were very clear and the demonstrations were easy to follow. The pacing was nice, we didn't feel rushed. The food was delicious. You come away with the knowledge and skills (and the recipe) to be able to make it at home, which I definitely plan to do!

A really lovely evening spent at The Southsea Deli. Daniel is an excellent teacher and also makes it fun. The group size is small enough that we all got a lot of attention. We will definitely be doing more of these classes.

Super fresh, spacious seating, lovely food, service and coffee. I only dropped in to leave a leaflet about new biz SimpliFAB and ended up staying for coffee and brunch after wandering in. Lovely place with generous table space.

The atmosphere is fantastic. The food (sandwiches, etc.) is kind of basic, but the coffee is good.

Really friendly service with lots of lunch options. Food very tasty. Club sandwich felt expensive for what it was but all quality ingredients and tasted great. Have had coffee from their takeaway truck on the seafront previously too, which was also excellent. Quality choice of condiments and ingredients to take away as well, a lovely little deli in Central Southsea.

Had a great evening doing the Indian Street Food class. A comprehensive explanation of how to prepare and cook courgette bhaji, chicken skewers and yoghurt dip, all of which were incredibly delicious. Well worth the time & money. Will definitely do another class with Southsea Deli.

A brilliant evening. The atmosphere was very relaxed, could ask any questions, leaning new things and great tips. It was great to cook tasty healthy food with a wonderful approach. Anyone could have joined in, even if you are not a person who "couldn't cook" We will be back. Many thanks .

Attended the Indian street food workshop with my dad this evening. Gorgeous relaxed atmosphere, very well organised, knowledgeable staff and delicious food that will be easy to replicate at home. 5 stars from us!

Steak masterclass workshop was brilliant, and I have finally learnt how to cook a steak well and not worry about ruining it. Daniel and his team are excellent. Wonderful evening

2nd visit and still found it lovely! Good is delicious 😋 ploughman's was gorgeous and the fresh apple sluice is a little bit addictive!

The course was great, learnt new skills and got a chance to try a few different steak types all under the teams guidance. We made an amazing salsa Verde the topped the steaks off to perfection.

Yoga 🧘‍♀️ & brunch with the fabulous Kat. Beautiful space, gorgeous yoga sesh, tasty brunch from Daniel and the team. I love this place. ❤️

Attended a curry class run by South Coast Cookery. It was brilliant. The tutor was very friendly and helpful and, even though I had made it, the curry was delicious. Thoroughly recommended

Great brunch - the food and service was amazing

I went to the Sunday morning yoga and brunch and it was fabulous! Such a relaxing morning with a wonderful instructor and delicious food. Will definitely be back.

We were bought the cooking class as a wedding present. It was a lovely gift and a fun experience to do together. We will definitely do another class.

Attended an evening Indian Street Food Cookery Class. Absolutely brilliant; I really enjoyed it. Daniel gave clear instructions and lots of useful tips and, even if I do say so myself, the end result was delicious. Nice group of people too. I would highly recommend this for a fun couple of hours.

Cinnamon Bun workshop ..simply lush. Highly recommend this workshop.

The curry workshop was great. Everything explained in simply way, lots of tips and super delicious result. Hosts were super friendly and eager to explain everything. It's definitely not my last time here :).

Just attended a cinnamon bun course, led by Will. It was fabulous, highly recommend. Fun, informative, lots of top tips and amazing buns! What more could a girl ask for?!

The taco cookery course was good fun, informative and loved making the taco recipe. Would definitely do another course here as well run. Thanks for a lovely night.

I did a Thai Fishcake and knife skills workshop, run by Daniel which was very good and informative.

Have always loved the deli as a nice lunch spot with delicious food, and a great place to pick up little foodie bits. I also attended one of their South Coast Cookery lessons with Norman from Grate Fire Kitchen making tacos and it was brilliant, couldn't recommend highly enough for a fun thing to do!

This is a really attractive deli, light and spacious with really friendly, helpful staff. And the food is delicious. The Christmas special sandwich I had for lunch on Saturday was so good that I went back for lunch on Sunday and that was just as good.

Fantastic meal and great company

Visited Southcoast Cookery for the Cinnamon Bun Masterclass, had so much fun, made the tastiest buns I’ve ever had (and cinnamon buns are my favourite so I’ve eaten alot before!). Highly recommend!

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Southsea Deli—this place truly feels like a second home. Every time I walk through the door, I’m greeted with the warmest smiles and the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Sunny is an absolute artist when it comes to oat cappuccinos. And then there’s Tom, who makes the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Luke is kind aswell. Yeah they told me that Dan is cool too

A beast of a place, this is incredible brunch place, delicious food, which is worthy of the 5 stars not only in Portsmouth but in the whole of south coast. I love this place!

We did the Asian Street Food cookery class and I can't want to book another evening.

This is the second workshop I have done with South Coast Cookery and it was absolutely excellent. I will definitely be signing up for many more in 2025.

I attended the South Coast Cookery workshop at the Southsea Deli on Thursday 7th November. This was the Asian Street Food workshop at which Daniel taught us to make Vietnamese meatballs and Summer rolls. Daniel is an excellent teacher and creates a great atmosphere. The setup at the Deli is great. Small enough to be intimate but accommodates enough people (10) to make it feel nice and sociable. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and cooked some really great food which I will definitely make again. The best meatballs I have ever made for sure!

We recently hired Southsea Deli for a family and friends birthday get-together Daniel provided a three course supper menu which was a total delight. He and his staff served wine and the delicious food throughout the evening in such a totally relaxed and seamless way that they were almost invisible to the guests. It is a skill not everyone has. Everybody enjoyed a wonderful evening and can't wait to revisit at their earliest opportunity. A big thankyou to Dan, Luke and Albert for making our special evening a memorable one. There is nowhere quite like Southsea Deli, you are the best!

Lovely staff. Very nice interior and furnishings. However unfortunately, the same can’t be said of the food we were served. We both ordered a cooked breakfast and the fried eggs had hard yolks, the bacon had been cooked too fast, so was tough and chewy, and the toast was so overdone that you couldn’t cut through it without it disintegrating and pinging pieces all over the table. I can only assume on the day we visited the normal chef was off sick, as if that was not the case, I can’t see how anyone would have cooking classes there (accept maybe the chef who cooked our breakfast)!

I always go in for something small and end up with loads! The team here are super friendly and I always feel so welcome. The deli counter has some amazing fritattas, salads and sausage rolls and the shop is well stocked with lots of delicious, locally sourced items. The coffee is very good too.

By far the best value for money / best quality spot for coffee and lunch in the city. Where else can you sit down and get a great coffee and a sourdough sandwich for a tenner ? Also with fresh high quality ingredients. I’m fortunate I don’t live close by, otherwise I’d be -£300 a month. But anyone who is near elm grove and hungry, you should go.

The Southsea Deli provided an excellent venue for our daughter's wedding reception. Everyone was well catered for including the children. The food, venue and staff were exceptional and we cannot praise them enough. My wife and I would thoroughly recommend the Southsea Deli.

Fabulous! Best sandwiches I've ever had. All fresh ingredients. Delicious sides and baked goodies. The cookies and brownies were amazing. Such a cute place to sit and relax.

Absolutely beautiful cafe. I had the most amazing sandwich with coppa and mozzarella. Well worth a visit and I can’t wait to visit again. Fantastic selection of goodies on sale as well.

The ultimate bacon sandwich, really is. We also shared a club sandwich which was equally fantastic. Lovely space to sit and eat as well, and staff are friendly and helpful. Top notch!

A lovely restaurant and deli on elm grove. A simple breakfast menu. Food is well cooked and tasty. And coffee is great. Perfect location for breakfast to start your Saturday. We had smashed avocado with a fried egg (fried is the only option), and an English breakfast. We all thoroughly enjoyed it.

Got a really nice bits earlier today from the van at the park run. The 2 members of staff had very good conversation and customer care

We enjoyed an amazing night at Southsea Deli in January for a friends baby shower. Daniel and the team couldn’t have been more helpful. My favourite café in town, great coffee, food and perfect seating options. I often take my laptop here to work and the staff are always very friendly. Limited vegan lunch options is a bit of a shame but the vegan roasted pepper and hummus sourdough sandwich is fantastic. Very reasonable food prices and a relaxed environment that doesn't make you feel pressured to order food. Also do great gifting options at Christmas and cookery workshops as a little bonus.

Can’t believe I’ve not found this place before. I went in and got a side salad and spinach and feta pie yesterday to take away and I think I might be the best thing I’ve ever eaten. I cannot tell you how many people I’ve told about it in 24 hours :) No photos - I’d eaten at least 75% of it before I even thought about it

The perfect day. We recently celebrated our wedding at The Southsea Deli and we couldn’t be happier with our choice. From start to finish Daniel made the planning and event seamless. The food was stunning (with our options adjusted to cater for both veggie and GF), our guests were so well looked after by the amazing staff and our wedding cake was just beautiful. My adult daughter and I really enjoyed our experience at Southsea Deli yesterday. All the staff were polite, helpful and went the extra mile. The food was great- tasty and presented well. We were particularly impressed with the gluten free choices. The decor was tastefully done and the atmosphere was relaxing, While we were there, a cookery workshop was underway which looked great fun- I certainly will be back to the deli and might even try a workshop! We hired the Southsea Deli to provide canapés at our wedding on 08.07.23 and received so many compliments from our guests! People were still talking about the fabulous sausage rolls well into the evening! The staff who were circulating the food were friendly and polite, we couldn't have asked for better service or food!
