Have had a fantastic lunch here many time. Tonight, came here as part of a birthday party of 12 and it was just as exceptional! Fantastic food and hospitality! What an amazing place! A jewel in the crown of Southsea!

We had such an amazing vegan platter. I can’t recommend this place enough. The staff are so friendly and warm and the food is incredible. We will definitely be returning. Good vegan food is hard to find.

Delicious food with friendly staff. The decor is great and the murals on the wall are fantastic! The menu had a lot of variety and a bunch of interesting Latin American dishes, along with a couple of ‘safe’ options for the less adventurous. Can highly recommend the El Cubano sandwich! Lots of special discounts on depending on the day of the week as well - can highly recommend to anyone!

We were blown away by Jessie's Latin Lounge, not only were they friendly and welcoming but the service is second to none we were made to feel so comfortable and it was a pleasure to meet the staff as well as the wonderful Jessie and her lovely husband. The restaurant itself is authentically Colombian and the food absolutely delicious 👌👌fresh ingredients, full of flavour and perfectly presented 😍😍 the drinks were superb, so refreshing. Jessie's Latin Lounge is a true hidden gem and we will 100 percent return when we are next in Portsmouth

Loved this gem of a find! We've travelled far from home for the bank holiday weekend and to visit some friends. We'll be dropping in to Jessie's every time we visit Portsmouth, for sure! Proper Latin home-cooking. Yum!

We had lunch here and it was absolutely gorgeous! The food was very tasty and the service was so friendly. If we didn’t live so far away we would eat here all the time! Definitely worth a visit. X

2023 update: I saw Jessie's was open as I passed omw home. As I hadn't had lunch, I thought I'd pop in. Haviving been warmly welcomed, I ordered a Cuban sandwich (El Cubano), which was delicious, and came with a free hot drink, so I had a nice, hot, freshly made cup of coffee with it. The sandwich was so nice that I thought I'd take my cousin and her husband there for dinner when they visit (it'll be their first visit since I moved here in 2019. That's how nice the food is!). Lockdown (2020) update: open for takeaway 10am-3pm, Tuesday to Saturday. Based on what I've tried so far, I'd recommend the breakfast wrap, the quesadilla, the good intentions and the coffee! Previous (2019) review: We called in on a recommendation from someone at work - I'll be thanking him next time I see him :-) Went at noon, with wife, daughter and grandson, having skipped breakfast at home to save myself for a burrito, based on that recommendation. Staff were super-friendly and helpful, and made scrambled eggs on toast for the grandson, who's not experienced quality south American food, yet. Grown ups all had burritos (2 chicken, 1 meatball), and were well pleased. They were clearly freshly prepared and tasted excellent. We'll definitely be going back.

Great place for late morning coffees. 8 take aways made with care and friendly chat. I stayed on for a Latin Sandwich and it was delicious. Just a sandwich, but great taste. Again, friendly service and then left alone as I wanted to just read. I'll be back here for the evening selection ....

We had a very tasty meal at Jessie's. The menu was a bit baffling to someone like me with little experience of Latin food, but each dish was deliciously fresh and packed with flavour. The cocktails were also very tasty and good value. BonBon, who served / hosted us was upbeat and friendly. The atmosphere at Jessie's was warm and festive and the decor colourful and inviting. Sweet churros with added salt will blow your mind :o) Highly recommend!

Extremely cool Latin American restaurant. Very cozy, beautiful creative wall paintings, delicious food at reasonable prices, almost everything with a vegan option! Jessie is a wonderful host.

I'm the guy who came in asking about the legendary Cuban sandwich. It was everything I was told it was. So satisfying, beautiful ingredients, so well put together. And the cafe is so friendly. I felt like an old friend after 5 minutes. I'll definitely be back. Wonderful little place. I'd give you 10 stars if I could. See you soon amigos 👍

I had the loveliest lunch here and have been ravimg about it since. The Mexican wrap was incredibly tasty and the service was welcoming and friendly. The lasy behind the counter recommens the choclats cake as the 'best in the world' and I was not disappointed! I would 100% recommend this to anyone in the area!

Jessie’s is a such a fantastic family run cafe! We come frequently and it doesn’t disappoint! One of our favourites is Colombian breakfast, it’s soooo tasty! All staff are lovely and always greet us with smile and warmth. Can’t recommend enough!

Perfect place for some food and there is such a lovely atmosphere in there. It is fairly rare to find Colombian food and to be able to find that in Southsea is a true blessing.

One star is for the server who was doing her best BUT what a disappointment today! We ordered 2 bacon sandwiches but (eventually) 2 sausage ones turned up. Apology accepted, it was their mistake & they would sort it - we explained we were short of time. THEN, only a few mins later a customer who'd arrived a good 5mins after us was given (you've guessed it) 2 bacon sandwiches!!!! And on we waited .... By now my husband had to leave for work so we had to ask for them to be takeaway & I still waited few more longer!!!! 45 minutes wasted AND a very bad start to our Saturday. I am furious!!

I got the arepa vegana and it was the best thing I've ever eaten. The staff are delightful, restaurant is stunning, extremely highly recommend and i will be back often. Love!!

Gorgeous food, so sad its only lunch, had Empenadas and 3 meat Arepas to share, more than enough food, stuffed and satisfied, 2 meals a soft drink and a pot of tea under £23. (also dog friendly)

I've been searching for some quality nachos in portsmouth for a while, with no place quite hitting the chip to topping to quality combo quite right, that's until jessies, absolute spot on nachos, can't wait until lockdown ends and I can pop in for some in-person!

Walking by this place yesterday at about 9.40am I stopped to look at the menu, in the distance I saw a man stirring the food in the pan, he then tasted the food on the spoon and then put the spoon back in the pan to continue stirring. I give his hygiene rating triple 000.

Pasta bake on the specials is fantastic and rest of the food is delicious. I would highly recommend

Only had a takeaway coffee which was lovely. Food that other people where eating looked and smelt lovely, the prices look reasonable to. I certainly recommend the coffee and will try the food at some point in the future.

I went in on a Friday at 445 and was told that they closed at 5pm despite the website saying 7pm. I came back in the following day with my wife and arrived around 4pm, I placed the order of Patacones, empanadas, and my wife ordered a chicken burrito. I paid for it and went and sat down, my wife was brought her burrito at about 425pm and I thought nothing of it as they would bring my food out shortly. I told my wife to start without me, well she finished her meal and mine never arrived. When I went to the counter to ask about my food I asked the lovely lady at the counter where the manager was, she pointed in the kitchen. A lady turned to me and started having a discussion about my missing food from the kitchen, I then asked if she minded coming over to the counter instead of yelling across the kitchen, I did hear her say to the lady at the front counter “can you just explain it to him”, I couldn’t hear what else she was saying. They close at 5 and I left at 450pm without any food. So much potential this place has but it’s not being managed correctly in my opinion, but they must be earning enough money because a table of 5 walked in about ten min after us and they were told that only drinks no food. The lady that took our order was pleasant and professional, very welcoming and bubbly. Shame, I won’t be returning. I do not recommend this place and am still in search of a good Latin restaurant in Portsmouth.

Really excellent. Not rushed with anything which we appreciated when trying to do anything with a baby. We ate Colombian eggs and the pollo picante burger. First class.

Being born and breed in Portsmouth I am ashamed to say I don't get down to Southsea very much. Today I was helping out with something and found myself with a spare 45 mins so I thought I would look for somewhere for a tea and a bite. I came across Jessie's and what a find it is. Clean, tidy, friendly, good food all at an excellent price. My first reaction was " London has finally come to Southsea" I certainly will be back. Alan Priddy

Great little restaurant, good food

The coffee was really good and everything is reasonably priced (both drinks and food). The atmosphere is nice and cosy and they play latin music which seems like a good idea to keep the place in theme. The only downside that kept me from giving this 5 stars was the speed of service for food. We were informed “it could take a bit longer, around 20 minutes” and in fact we waited more than an hour. However, their specific Colombian dishes are great, you should definitely try them!
