Emailed the pub requesting a table a few weeks in advance. Got a reply a week later to say they couldn't guarantee a table as but will book us in anyway. On the day the weather was on the cool side for June, & the pub on a Friday evening had hardly any customers, staff were arrogant and the meals took ages to arrive. Can't recommend and the team need to up their game.

Visited The Southgate whilst we waited for our Pizza order from Pobbles Pizza (see my other review). There were plenty of tables outside which suited us with our dog, although dogs are allowed in one of the bar areas it was remarkably busy as the large screens were showing sport. The other looked busy too with people eating. Outside, several water bowls were available for dogs with a hose to refill if required. No complaints about the drinks for the humans. There are two prices, if you join as a member they are at a reduced price which we thought was a nice idea for the local community. We sat next to the pub sign and noted that the pub had been in existence since 1928, almost 100 years. Worth a visit.

Quite run down, found the staff a bit rude while waiting to order and the food wasn't great. Fine if there is nothing else around but honestly wouldn't bother again

Took my mum here this afternoon and it was fantastic. Had the chicken in peppercorn and I could have eaten it all over again. Delicious.

Delicious Sunday lunch with loads of home cooked veggies, stunning mash potato and loads of gravy. Then a great choice of desserts.

Few minutes walk from the Gower coastal path, a lovely picturesque walk from Three cliffs bay campsite, stunning views along the way and such a nice friendly pub. The sun was shining as we sat in the beer garden terrace, great choice of beers and cider. Large menu and our meals were delicious, lamb chops decent size and local. Highly recommend stopping here.

I held my wife’s birthday here and an amazing time was had by all. Christine, Dave and the team were superb and a number of guests commented on how good the buffet was and I cannot recommend this venue enough to host a party!

Disappointing overpriced basic food. Not one item of fresh food in the 5 meals that we ordered. Such a shame as the menu sounded nice.

Spur of the moment visit for lunch. Extensive menu with a number of vegetarian options. Food was excellent, vegetarian lasagne was really good. Friends were pleased with their choices too. Good sized portions and friendly service. Would recommend. The place is spotless too!!!

We wanted to eat as an extended family inside because of the weather forecast. So, 11 across all ages and 3 dogs were warmly welcomed into one of the nicest, cleanest friendliest pubs we have been to I can remember. Not just that but the food was in-fussy, tasty, served hot by staff with big smiles. The lamb was stunning but all else was lovely too. A must visit if this is what you want whether you live here or are like us on holiday. Thank you for entertaining us so well. When next we return to the Gower, we will be back

Hoping for a traditional Sunday dinner menu. Arrived approximately 1:00. Initially we were told that the kitchen was too busy and food orders were not being taken!!!! Restaurant was half empty. They no longer provide traditional Sunday lunch. We chose 2 x lamb chop dinners bother with veg, one with chips, one with mash potato. After waiting 40 minutes for the meal to arrive there was no sign of any gravy? Mash potatoes without gravy? We requested gravy only to be told that this was an additional £4!!!!!! We purchased gravy, lamb chops were sizeable but just ok. Not the best and to top it all the Gower Gold beer was flat. Having lived in Bishopston 2018/19 and frequently visiting this establishment for both food and beer I was shocked how it had changed for the worst.

My partner and his family visited in November. We were made to feel very welcome. Great ales on tap. We were lucky enough for them to let us eat a takeaway in there as the restaurant we planned to go to had double booked which was very kind of them. We had a great night and was so privileged to hear Hermione the bar manager sing in a cappella an Irish folk tune. Wow we couldn't hear a pin drop when she sang. It literally took my breath away. Definitely recommend this place and we will definitely revisit .

Skinny Caramel latte and fruit porridge. I have never seen a breakfast look so amazing but this also tasted amazing too. I can highly recommend this little coffee house a visit not only for the beautiful food and beverage but for people watching too. Best place I've been too.

I have waited several weeks before writing this. I rarely post negative reviews, particularly not for small independent venues. But the price of 2 pieces of cheese on toast costing £10.95 is still irritating me. I didn’t look at the bill until sitting back down and my bank account flashed up the amount. I went back to the counter and asked if this was correct. Then to add insult to injury, we had nearly finished our coffees and my wife went to the counter to check where the cheese on toast was. No apology from the staff, and they said it was waiting in the kitchen as they couldn’t remember what table ordered it. You would expect sour dough bread or some, artisan crafted speciality bread and a fine local Welsh mature cheddar for this price. What we received was bog standard supermarket sliced brown bread and a meagre layer of bog standard supermarket cheese, that barely covered the cardboard toast. It was now barely tepid and ranks as the worst and most expensive cheese on toast we have ever had. Our cake was good but I overpriced, and the coffee was OK, but no where near as good as numerous other coffee shops in Swansea. Positives are: venue is nice and clean, staff friendly but somewhat dopey. It’s a shame they demolished my old school Ty-Coch. I am sure the catering ladies would have done a better job

Love the cakes, though, 4 months after moving shop they have yet to update online sources with their new telephone number.
