Bluebell Coffee & Kitchen in Swansea

I have waited several weeks before writing this. I rarely post negative reviews, particularly not for small independent venues. But the price of 2 pieces of cheese on toast costing £10.95 is still irritating me. I didn’t look at the bill until sitting back down and my bank account flashed up the amount. I went back to the counter and asked if this was correct. Then to add insult to injury, we had nearly finished our coffees and my wife went to the counter to check where the cheese on toast was. No apology from the staff, and they said it was waiting in the kitchen as they couldn’t remember what table ordered it. You would expect sour dough bread or some, artisan crafted speciality bread and a fine local Welsh mature cheddar for this price. What we received was big standard supermarket sliced brown bread and a meagre layer of big standard supermarket cheese, that barely covered the cardboard toast. It was now barely tepid and ranks as the worst and most expensive cheese on toast we have ever had. Our cake was good but I overpriced, and the coffee was OK, but no where near as good as numerous other coffee shops in Swansea. Positives are: venue is nice and clean, staff friendly but somewhat dopey. It’s a shame they demolished my old school Ty-Coch. I am sure the catering ladies would have done a better job

First time I have been here, saw the previous reviews and ratings so thought I would give it a go. We ordered salmon and eggs on toast with hollandaise sauce and I went for a special which was Korean style, dirty fries. Got to say the Korean mince in the fries was bang on. Really good food. Service was very good as well. It's always good to see small independent businesses doing well, top job.

Nice coffee (arrived in cool looking eco friendly cups) china cups also available Ordered avocado on toast and some pancakes Service friendly and fast (was towards end of day on Saturday) Food was seasoned well and I would definitely go back Very tasty

Been here for food several times. Breakfast is top quality, Greek night was outstanding and Sunday lunch was superb. Shoutout to potatoes in the breakfast - they are the MVP.

I cannot recommend Bluebell enough. It is a lovely cosy cafe with high quality food and coffee. The bread is to die for! It’s homemade and very thick slices. The poached eggs are always cooked to perfection and there is always a generous amount of avocado. Due to food intolerances, I always ask for adjustments and nothing is ever too much. The coffee tastes great and such friendly staff. I always look forward to coming here for food and a coffee to start my weekend.

Nice cozy place to have breakfast / brunch and some tea. Found it by chance driving through the town. Appreciated that they put the hollandaise sauce on the side as requested on my Eggs Benny Bagel.

We went to the bluebell today for an Easter afternoon tea. It was the best afternoon tea we’ve ever had - service was great, food was lovely and the fuss they made of my son just added to the whole experience. My son has a dairy allergy - but the team made sure he didn’t miss out on any chocolate treats (which he often does) Such a lovely visit ❤️

Smelt of old cooking fat , but everything else was good.

I sent an email over three weeks ago with a query for a venue hire but no response. It was recommended by a lovely staff member as well which is why we are disappointed to not having a reply as of yet

When we arrived it was so noisy that you could not hold a conversation properly. There was a baby shower party in one half of the room. Lots of cheering, clapping and noise...which you'd expect at a party but not when you pop in for coffee and cake. We both felt that you should not have opened to the public on this occasion. It was chaotic. To add to it...the food orders were being yelled out above the noise. It was a horrible experience and atmosphere. To make things worse, right next to us before we'd even finished, staff began moving and dragging tables and chairs....near kitchen window, causing more noise and distribution. Obviously preparing for another party as balloons were brought in. There was no thought or consideration for your non party customers. It was horrendous and we couldn't wait to get out of there. You maybe need to consider closing to the public when you have parties....because take it from us....the two don't mix and it doesn't work.

My girlfriend and 4 month old had an amazing experience at pizza night in Bluebell. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the pizza was absolutely superb. The crust was perfect, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. The restaurant had a cozy ambiance and also a night time Cool vibe, and the service was excellent. I highly recommend trying it out! And just small things like getting dips in dishes that actually last until the end of the food.

Came here for the pizza night which they have every Friday. What can I say. Service and food were incredible and have been back a couple of times since.

I love this place, the food is always outstanding, with great vegan options. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. Give it a try, you won't regret it.

Was looking forward to our Monday visit here, but were underwhelmed to be honest. The service team seemed to be unhappy with each other with negative comments in earshot so the atmosphere was a bit off. We had a full breakfast and a Greek breakfast that both looked great but was disappointing mainly as most of it was tepid. Potato wedges were undercooked and the Greek sausage tasted like any other mid-range sausage. Couldn't really see a Greek influence, I'm sorry to say. Highlight was homemade bread and a great coffee. We don't write a critical review lightly, and might be better on a different day. All the ingredients are there.

The breakfast s/ brunchs looked lovely but my ‘Chefs Special’ was far from lovely ., unfortunately- £11.95 for Chicken with avocado and chorizo sandwich with chips . The chips were nice but the bread v ordinary and the chicken pieces looked like and tasted like leftovers .

Had afternoon tea, was lovely. Some of the savoury options were a bit cold, but enjoyable nonetheless. Great service and good atmosphere.

Amazing, always go here in my breaks. Friendly staff and the food is beautiful, they also welcome dogs and do the lushest puppuccino, my dog loves visiting here!

The best place for breakfast in Swansea. Fact. I’ve been going for years and every single meal I’ve had has been amazing. Wonderful family run bsuiness. Great atmosphere, staff are absolutely fantastic and food is insane. Ignore any bad reviews.. they must be delusional. I would mark 1000 stars if I could! The banging bagel is a must!

I have been to bluebell regularly over the last few years. Both with friends and my children, It is my little boys favourite place to eat. Sophia, Tim and their team are incredible and the Bangin’ Bagel is THE BEST brunch in Swansea. Also organised baby showers and birthdays here and Bluebell Bakes have made both my babies birthday cakes. Thank you for always catering for us. We love Bluebell 💙

Absolutely terrible the way brought an issue up it was my friends engagement party and they ruined it by not being professional or understanding I will definitely not be going there again!!

The most horrible experience i ever had in a coffee house. Very disorganised! The order was totally messed up. I've ordered pancakes with honey and Berry(i clearly specified that i don't want chocolate) and avocado on toast with scrambled egg, feta and hallumi cheese. The girl who took my order she repeat after me what i want and it was fine. But when the order came everything was totally different, the pancakes was with chocolate, i sent it back and she came with the same pancakes but with some berries on top and she told me that the black sauce from the pancakes its the juice from the beries but it was chocolate!! I sent it back again the third time finally she came with the right one. The taste was bad, a lot of backing powder in it! The order with avocado, she came just with two pieces of toast and some avocado on top and nothing else. I sent it back and after she came , something from that plate was still missing, the third time she came with that plate finally it was the right one but the scrambled egg was very raw! Not recommended!

Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend visiting. The food is decent, but so overpriced! Kids pancakes almost £11, just crazy prices for a cafe in tycoch. Latte over £5! The customer service is non-existent. Absolutely shocking! When ordering the lady serving didn't speak, at all, she didn't even say the price just waited for me to tap card, as it's card only. When my order came, it wasn't correct, no apology, just made me feel awkward. It's such a shame, as they have a lovely little spot and food is decent quality. Just need to sort their pricing and menu out, and train staff to speak and acknowledge customers.

Visited this week for a lovely festive afternoon tea. Even though I had rang to confirm a few amendments due to dietary requirements this was not initially met. However, the friendly manager sorted it and my mum and I had a great afternoon tea. I would definitely recommend booking. The sandwiches and cakes were lovely and it was nice to have a few savoury items along with the sandwiches.

This is a great little cafe. Home made bread for the sandwich which was delicious, and a generous pot of tea. Parking can be hard to come by by.

Difficulty in getting the order correct left on person without a drink

It's Saturday ballet which can only mean one thing, exploring cafes. Today I thought I'd give the Bluebell cafe a try. I had a really warm welcome from the staff, the cafe has a really nice relaxed vibe, it wasn't too busy on arrival with a good few seats to choose from. The menu was really good with plenty of choice. I went for the Bluebell breakfast which has the unique twist of Greek potatoes added. I can honestly say that this was the best breakfast I've had for a while, everything was fresh and tasty, the latte was piping hot (as requested) and quite smooth. Throughout the staff were really friendly, you cannot fault the customer service. Bring on next Saturday because I will definitely be back!!

Lovely drinks selection and staff are very friendly.

We recently used Bluebell to cater a work event for about 15 people and they were brilliant! Lots of veggie/vegan/gluten free options, really lovely food, and delivered directly to the venue. Would highly recommend Bluebell for any events needing catering :-)

My boyfriend and I stopped off for a delicious vegetarian breakfast this morning. Each item was cooked perfectly. I especially loved the flavour to the beans and tomatoes. The cafe was very clean and tidy and the autumnal decorations were lovely! Thank you to our server Bev and the friendly service from the owner Sophia. We have also had takeaway pizza night here before which was also very lovely!

Just had a veggie breakfast and have to say there was so much taste on the food. Probably one of the best breakfasts I have had - so much variety. Absolutely delicious. Staff were so friendly and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend 🌟

I asked this lovely business to cater my Mum’s memorial gathering, and the service and food was all excellent. Nothing was too much trouble, and the food was delivered and set up beautifully. The scones and vegan carrot cake in particular received rave reviews! Thank you so much.

Lovely pancakes and butty! Ingredients used are clearly quite high quality. Packaging kept everything nice and hot. Definitely ordering again! Hopefully you guys will have flapjacks next time though. Would be nice if drinks were added to the menu and given in separate bag though? :)

Me and my partner order our breakfast from here quite often and the bacon sausage and porched egg have always been beautiful, however couple of times we ordered it now hasn’t been the best I normally order the porched egg on toast but past couple times I’ve had it the egg is not porched it’s boiled and I don’t want boiled egg on toast , especially when your paying £20 you want what your paying for.

The food was cooked well, delicious and delivered on time. Ingredients better than the standard cooked breakfast, however I ordered The Big Greek, Go Big: Extra Sausage, Bacon & Egg, but the extra sausage bacon and egg were missing, it was just a regular Big Greek. I tried to request a partial refund through Just Eat but they only accept requests for full refunds which seemed a bit extreme, I just wanted the £2.50 back

Definitely lived up to the reviews. On a miserable rainy morning, we were greeted with smiles and great service. Food was delicious (we had the bagel, all bells and whistles, and the Welsh full breakfast). It feels very community focussed with all visitors made to feel very welcome. Only disappointment was not having one near to where we live so that we could go on a regular basis!

Always a great place to eat. Sophia and the team also catered for our wedding recently and it was absolutely delicious! They were super helpful throughout. Thank you again.

Called in on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Steady flow of customers in and out but tables available. Interior is bright and airy, and there is a small seating area on the raised walkway outside. The cooked breakfast we had was excellent. Freshly cooked with plenty on the plate. Toast was particularly enjoyable - freshly sliced bread. Some kids at the next table had pancakes which also looked delicious. Would definitely visit again.

Ordered the go big Greek breakfast instead of go big full English. I'm so happy I did, it was absolutely perfect!!!

Excellent selection of bites to eat, to satisfy the need for a "light bite", through to platefuls for the very hungriest among us! Lovely array of teas and juices to accompany your meal, and a very homely and cosy feel inside. The staff are all wonderful and very helpful, but it does get busy around typical lunchtimes so there may be a short wait at peak times for a table. That alone speaks volumes for Bluebell - never disappointing!

We visited this morning for breakfast, there was only one other table occupied. The table we chose seemed clean but we discovered a lump of grease on it. The menus were tatty & rather more suited to a roadside cafe, falling apart & stuck together...

Amazing breakfast and cheesecake, great staff

Just had breakfast here and it was lovely. Had the bangin' bagel and my wife had "the big Greek" very reasonably priced to and served by a very polite young lady. We'll done bluebell 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Good food, great service… but unfortunately wouldn’t go back due to stuffy warm atmosphere and kitchen vents that are not working (?). By the end it got so stuffy my eyes were irritated and had to go and wait outside for my partner. Clothes are really smelly now.

Food was cold not edible over an hour and 30 minutes late and restaurant cooked as soon as ordered but no driver allocated. They said keep food warm but rock solid and cold. Won’t be ordering again

We ordered two coffees, one cappuccino and one chai latte; we also ordered two of their winter special pancakes; a combo of apple compote and butterscotch sauce, with a side of streaky bacon! Our coffee and chai came quickly with a smile! This place, with their varied menu and homemade bread and other goodies has quickly topped our list of favorite places to eat! Best pancakes I e had in this country since moving from America! And the streaky bacon was amazing too!

Had a Big Greek breakfast and it was terrific Thank You. Particularly enjoyed the BBQ beans and Greek Sausage. The poached egg and halloumi were cooked perfectly. The fried lemoned spuds were a lovely accompaniment. Thank You very much.

well compared to the first breakfast, this one was really poor quality, potatoes was hardly cooked and soft and not nicely done as i had hoped.

Awful couldn't finish my breakfast, the potatoes were acid, bacon smelt and orange juice tasted like dog .Never again. Definitely not worth £9

We arranged for afternoon tea for a large group to celebrate a colleagues retirement. We were very disappointed with the table so we were moved to a larger place. We purchased afternoon tea to be met with no beverage accompanying the food selection. The quantity and quality was not as expected which is disappointing as we work close by so the bluebell could have become a regular haunt We have decided not to return

Good vegan breakfast with a vegan oatshake, had out door seating for dog and they brought him water. Was so good I forgot to take a photo!

Visited with friend and had poached eggs on toast. Toast and eggs really lovely. I had asked for 2 bacon to go with the eggs - what I had was one rasher cut in half - medallion end and the tail/streaky end. At £1.50 per...

Family stop off for late breakfast. Floor littered with crumbs and debris. Table sticky. Toilets not great. Extremely expensive. Very disappointing visit on this occasion.

Terrible service, get there 1st and wait while they serve all the take aways 1st. 2.95 for a pot of tea for one. Basically 1 tea bag and weak cheap tea. Pretentious robbery, unbelievable!

wow, blown away by that breakfast, idk what to say this place should be getting awards for that, a local legend right here. going to be ordering more :D on a side note the appearance of the breakfast and the seasoning just seriously made my day, full energy now.

Food well cooked and presented but spoilt by the packaging. I had pancakes with syrup and bacon. The bacon was way too crispy (that’s purely personal taste) and it was delivered in a cardboard box. The problem was that the syrup was just poured over so was swimming around the bottom of the box. It should have been separately packaged so it could be poured over on arrival. Spent ages trying to get it out. Luckily I had a tin of syrup in my cupboard so could add to it. Using paper packaging is generally good for the environment but because it was food contaminated it had to be put in household waste not recycling. At least plastic containers can be washed and recycled.

just what we were looking for after a long early journey.. good coffee, great breakfast, and a comfy setting. My wife has just said as I’m typing “best toast I’ve had” . Friendly staff and a great greek inspired menu. highly recommended
