Too expensive, at least 30% more expensive than central London restaurants for a two course meal without drinks ‼️ Nice good, pleasant staff, however the price is too high.

My husband and I had dinner with friends at the Plough and Harrow during our trip to The Gower and we were really impressed. Lovely relaxing ambience and excellent quality of food; sea bass, skate and pork belly cooked to perfection and delicious. Very reasonably priced, and a special mention must go to Alice our super friendly and efficient server. Definitely worth a second visit next time we're staying in the Gower.

We booked this pub for a family dinner based on the menu and great reviews but sadly it didn't live up to expectations and we were disappointed with many aspects. Things started well when we were warmly greeted and given a homemade complimentary lemonade with alcohol or without which was nice. The menu looked great so we were looking forward to a fantastic meal. The chicken wings were not nice at all - very floury taste with no flavour and no sauce, there was just about 6 plonked on a plate. The fish and chip main and the goats cheese tart ok, the steak and sea bass good, BUT the chips and onion rings were really greasy and not nice at all. And when the Gower has possibly the best new potatoes in the world at this time of the year, why not have those on the menu... The flaming chocolate and orange brulee was like a chocolate mousse with a few small pieces of orange in it and the sugar topping was soggy. Two of us had 3 courses, 1 had 2 courses and 1 had just a main. We only had 1 or 2 drinks each and the bill was £170, which we felt really didn't represent value for money. Our quest to find an excellent gastro pub on the Gower continues.

Lovely food! A couple of off bits of wording on the menu- lobster Marie Rose but was prawns and salmon. 🤷♀️ Beautifully cooked fish and the best tiramisu! Lovely service from Matilda and Ellie. (And lady in flowery dress) I think the staff need to try more dishes so they can explain better! :)

On holiday, looking for a local place for a meal out on my birthday and found The Plough and Harrow. The whole experience was excellent and the bonus was a complimentary starter or dessert if seated before 6pm which we didn't know at time of booking. Whole team were great, excellent talent in the kitchen obviously, and a special mention to Vicki (hope spelled correctly) for outstanding service. Thank you for making the night memorable. Highly recommend!

What a gem. After a previous poor experience we tried again for a birthday meal and it did not disappont. I very tempting menu that cater for vegetarians amongst other dietary requirements. After entering the pub we were greeted by a very rude, grumpy and unwelcoming bar tender, despite waiting for quite some time for service. Incredibly disappointed and left without even ordering. Not a warm welcome at all! Update: the visit took place on Wed 29 May. We attended the Plough and Harrow in Murton. Having sat in the garden as we had the dog with us, we swiftly left following the poor welcome. We weren’t even greeted with an ‘hello’ or ‘good evening’ instead a table number was demanded. Great little place for a relaxed night out with friends/family but perfect ambience in the restaurant for something slightly more formal. Celebrating the local produce of the sea and the field in a totally original way. Both in the restaurant and in the bar this offers something way beyond ‘pub grub’ ( but be warned - the chips are to die for . And they don’t mind doing just a couple of bowls of those to go with your pint beside the fire in the bar either 😊 !!!

Booked a table for 2 at short notice for a Thursday night. On arrival the venue looked busy, inviting with a good atmosphere. We approached the bar for drinks and were offered a good selection of brands and staff enquired if we were members of the gourmet club (which you can join online and allows members to have some discount off their bill). We were informed that every Thursday is steak night and for a very reasonable price you can have 2 steaks with sides and wine. The service was excellent, we opted for the 2 steak deal, these were cooked to perfection and served with home cooked chips and a side of garlic bread. The wine was also excellent. This was unbelievable value for exceptional food and service and would highly recommend. We will definitely be visiting there again. The Plough and Harrow is the best pub in Swansea for food by far.

After hearing great things and seeing the hype on social media recently, we were expecting a nice meal. Unfortunately, we found the whole experience quite underwhelming. We visited Saturday afternoon. My stater of mussels was under seasoned and swimming in sauce. The "foccacia" we ordered wasn't foccacia at all, rather a mini bloomer with rosemary and salt. Whilst the bread was nice enough, we wanted foccacia and didn't get it. The real dissapointment came with our main course though. The beef olives were cold, tough, with a small amount of sauce and one of them had a peice of string in it! The side veg was OK, but nothing special. The potato dauphinoise were quite dry too. Everything just felt poorly reheated, if you know what I mean. The service was also pretty underwhelming. And when we complained about the meal, we were only offered £10 off. We won't be going back and won't be recommending it to anyone. Such a shame.

Update: Went back recently, 11 months after the review below. I’d given it 5 stars and was incredibly impressed! Sadly 11 months later that wasn’t the case. We had starters, mine was a chorizo scotch egg, which was massively under seasoned. It had no flavour at all, just texture. The saddest part was the chicken roast. All the seasoning seemed to have gone into the chicken in the form of way too much salt. I ate as much as i could but left needing pints of water. It was sad and very underwhelming. I don’t like leaving negative reviews but I also don’t like seeing somewhere that has been great, slip into the world of mediocre. It could have been a bad day, it was an unseasonably hot day, but on this occasion, the balance was off. Sad but recoverable. Hope to be back soon. Original Review: I love a roast dinner. I mean I LOVE a roast dinner… The Plough and Harrow is the best pub roast. Pure and simple. Book in advance to avoid disappointment. Right from the starters… which were beautifully presented & flavourful, the tone was set. We had the Welsh lamb & the pork. Both meats just melted & the flavour was incredible! Stunning roast potatoes & a special shout out to the parsnips with a little magic twist. The stuffing, the crackling, the veg… it’s the complete package. If you’re in South Wales, this is the place to go for a Sunday roast. If you’re not in South Wales, go. My only negative critique is on the dessert side of things: the base of the Lemon Meringue tart was disappointing. While the lemon meringue had that balance of sweet and tangy, the base was tough & somewhere between cardboard and plastic & sadly ruins a really nice dessert. However… the clotted fudge ice cream is a must! The pub itself is light, fresh & inviting. The staff were lovely, friendly & very patient with my overly excited and indecisive partner. Though with a menu that is simply mouth watering, it’s hard to be decisive. We are really looking forward to going back.

My partner and his family visited in November. We were made to feel very welcome. Great ales on tap. We were lucky enough for them to let us eat a takeaway in there as the restaurant we planned to go to had double booked which was very kind of them. We had a great night and was so privileged to hear Hermione the bar manager sing in a cappella an Irish folk tune. Wow we couldn't hear a pin drop when she sang. It literally took my breath away. Definitely recommend this place and we will definitely revisit .

I have waited several weeks before writing this. I rarely post negative reviews, particularly not for small independent venues. But the price of 2 pieces of cheese on toast costing £10.95 is still irritating me. I didn’t look at the bill until sitting back down and my bank account flashed up the amount. I went back to the counter and asked if this was correct. Then to add insult to injury, we had nearly finished our coffees and my wife went to the counter to check where the cheese on toast was. No apology from the staff, and they said it was waiting in the kitchen as they couldn’t remember what table ordered it. You would expect sour dough bread or some, artisan crafted speciality bread and a fine local Welsh mature cheddar for this price. What we received was big standard supermarket sliced brown bread and a meagre layer of big standard supermarket cheese, that barely covered the cardboard toast. It was now barely tepid and ranks as the worst and most expensive cheese on toast we have ever had. Our cake was good but I overpriced, and the coffee was OK, but no where near as good as numerous other coffee shops in Swansea. Positives are: venue is nice and clean, staff friendly but somewhat dopey. It’s a shame they demolished my old school Ty-Coch. I am sure the catering ladies would have done a better job

Exceptional food, lovely atmosphere, fantastic service, and amazing coffee. We had the full breakfast and waffles. A real surprise find, and we'll be back.

Love the cakes, though, 4 months after moving shop they have yet to update online sources with their new telephone number.
