Haystack, Brynhyfryd – The OG Brunch Spot ❤️‍🔥 We’ve been obsessed with this place since day one, and it just keeps getting better! Their firm favourites never miss, and the monthly specials? Always top-tier 🤌🏼. March’s specials have been an absolute Cymru delicacy dream 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 🐉 🔥 🥓 Bryn-stack – This is Welsh brunch on steroids. Two slices of toasted sourdough, grilled to perfection with Colliers mature cheddar and Gower Gold rarebit. Topped with crispy bacon, two fried eggs, and the most insanely good crispy cockles. Oh, and the laverbread hollandaise? Absolute gold 🏆. Every bite is rich, cheesy, and packed with proper Welsh flavour. 🧀 Cheesy Leek Loaded Tots – Crispy, golden tater tots smothered in a ridiculously good leek and cheese sauce made with Gower Gold and Colliers mature cheddar. Topped with crispy pancetta lardons and fresh parsley. Comfort food at its very best 🤤. 🍔 The Brunch Burger – A Haystack staple! Sausage patty, crispy bacon, chilli jam, halloumi, and a fried egg, all stacked inside a soft brioche bun. Served with tater tots, because of course 😮‍💨. Sweet, savoury, spicy – it just hits every single craving. Everything was absolutely sublime – the bold, rich flavours of Wales in every bite. Cheese, leeks, cockles, laverbread – Haystack really gets it 💯. Counting down the days until April’s specials drop! ⏳🔥 @haystackcafe Massive shout out to Liam for getting us down and for Wil & the team for looking after us so fabulously 🫶🏼 indulgent, Welsh, brunch, crispy, iconic

Visited on a Saturday afternoon and had to be placed in the queuing system which saw us waiting for about 20 minutes. Nowhere especially nice to go nearby so we just sat in the car. Queuing system is good but I would prefer to be able to book in advance so we don't face a queue on arrival. We were seated by a very pleasant waitress who instructed us to order at the counter or using the QR code on the table, however there is no WiFi and my phone signal was too weak to be able to use the QR code. Food took nearly an hour to arrive, we ordered a breakfast and a St Davids day special. It was busy but surely this is expected on a Saturday? We asked a waiter when we would get our food around the 40 minute mark, but he never came with an answer. The waitress did apologise for the wait when bringing our meals but no one came to check if everything was okay during our meal. You can tell the food is good quality but the taste was nothing special. The best thing on the plate was the tater tots until finding that the ones directly on the plate had been saturated in the butter that melted out of the sachet which had been placed upright in a hot pan used to serve the breakfast. A plate would have been just fine. Pleasant atmosphere, lots of people waiting for their meals. It's a bit tight inside so expect to squeeze past other people to get in and out of your seats. No plans to return.

They advertised that they were open until midnight for pancake day. We were turned away at 10pm as we weren’t on the waiting list. When I asked where was this waiting list I was told it’s from previous walk ins and that they were not longer accepting people or collection orders. For a place that is very vocal on social media, none of this was posted or made clear online before making the journey. We weren’t the only people sent away. As a place that only accepts walks in to then set up a wait system and not advertise it as much as they did for their ‘midnight opening hours’ was very disappointing. For future reference, social media can be used to post about those types of updates as well as marketing. It was a 40 minute round trip to be turned away.

Having visited several times before. I was very much looking forward to visiting on pancake day. However, straight away, the portion of pancakes was quite noticeably smaller. I usually leave feeling relatively full. However, yesterday I left very much still hungry. Certainly not worth the 13 pounds paid for the pancakes. They were nowhere near as flavoursome either. That being said, the coffee was great as always.

Half-term seemed like the perfect excuse to treat my daughter to a meal out, so we decided to visit The Haystack, a spot that has garnered quite a bit of local attention. Unfortunately, our experience proved that sometimes, hype doesn’t equate to quality. Upon arrival, we were instructed to join a virtual queue and wait in the car, with the promise of a text notification when our table was ready. That text never came. Eventually, we made our way inside and were seated at a window table. While this might sound idyllic, the reality was less so—the blazing sunlight made it unbearably hot and nearly impossible to see. Thankfully, when we asked to be moved, the staff obliged. Ordering is done via a QR code system, but bizarrely, there’s no free WiFi. A prominently displayed sign jokes, “Free WiFi… doesn’t exist. Talk to each other.” A witty touch, perhaps, but frustrating when you actually need internet access to place an order. With no WiFi available and mobile signal spotty, we had little choice but to queue at the counter. Maneuvering through the tightly packed tables—uncomfortably bumping into diners along the way—only added to the growing list of annoyances. We ordered a Benny Stack and Biscoff Pancakes. The pancakes arrived within ten minutes, but my dish was nowhere to be seen. After waiting a further 15 minutes, I asked if it would be much longer. Mere moments later, my Benny Stack appeared—its scorching hot plate suggesting it had been sitting under heat lamps the entire time. Unsurprisingly, the dish was completely dried out, the once-delicate poached eggs now hard-boiled. By this point, I had lost all enthusiasm for the meal and requested a refund. This was granted—but only for the Benny Stack, with no apology for the lackluster experience. With Swansea now boasting an array of excellent dining options that offer both quality and value for money, The Haystack simply isn’t keeping up. If you’re looking for a smooth, enjoyable dining experience, I’d suggest giving this place a miss.

Don’t go here if you’re short on time. It’s great for the cafe that they’re busy and popular but it felt like an endless wait before sitting down and after ordering. They have a waitlist so when you arrive, they will text you when your table is free. I was told it would be a 15-20 min wait. After 25 mins, I went back in, especially as I had seen people leave and was told that there were already 2 free tables and I was next. So I don’t know why I wasn’t messaged. It took 20 mins to get a coffee after ordering and then it another long wait for the breakfast. We got the vegan breakfast which was really underwhelming. Having a vegetable based sausage is always a let down when there are so many good alternatives available these days. The scrambled tofu had no flavour either. Sadly won’t be going back again for a breakfast. The staff were friendly.

“queues going out the door!” probably to file a complaint because their phones are never answered. Me, my friend and my partner ordered from here today for breakfast. The reviews looked good so i looked past the £50 price mark (mind you, we only ordered 3 things). My partner is vegan, so got the Vegan breakfast, which came with real bacon, real egg and real sausage, meaning he couldn’t eat literally any of the food that came. My avocado chorizo toast was absolutely foul, it was all covered in oil and tasted of nothing but salt. The pancakes and bacon were dry and tasteless too, how do you mess up pancakes so badly? The entire experience was absolutely awful and the fact they don’t answer their phone makes it even more irritating to be honest. Avoid.

I used to enjoy coming here, but unfortunately, things have changed. My partner and I visited last Friday, and we were disappointed with both the service and the atmosphere. My partner’s breakfast was served first, but mine took several more minutes, leaving their food to go cold while waiting. When I tried to ask at the counter, the staff were unresponsive, and I felt ignored. The food quality wasn’t what it used to be, and the space was overcrowded to the point where it was hard to move comfortably. Overall, it wasn’t the relaxing breakfast we’d hoped for!

I've been wanting to try The Haystack Cafe for a while. Upon arrival the cafe has this quirky decor which makes it stand out from the rest. The menu has plenty of choice from breakfast to pancakes. Pick your grub and order at the counter. I had the farmers breakfast with the tots (great addition) with black pudding. The breakfast arrived in a frying pan which was unique and looked very appetising. As I started to eat the bacon and sausage I noticed they were colder than the rest of the food as if it had been cooked already but not reheated enough. The latte was okay but had a slight bitterness about it. Although a nice cafe I was left feeling disappointed. On the plus side the staff were very friendly.

We went for lunch on a Sunday and it was a really lovely cafe vibe and decor. There was a ‘wait to be seated’ sign at the door but staff didn’t say anything to us so we ended up showing ourselves to the bar where they gave us a seat. The coffees were really nice (a cappuccino and a dirty chai). They were about standard price for Swansea city centre, so a bit more than expected for an out of city cafe. We decided to have pancakes as they looked unbelievable on Instagram. I went for a basic biscoff and white chocolate, my partner had the pancake battle special they have going on where it’s a £12.95 pancake stack with lots of different flavours. These were incredibly tasty and loaded with toppings. However, we were a little disappointed that my basic biscoff one was significantly bigger than the more expensive battle one (as seen in the picture). One minor annoyance was that we had to go back downstairs to get our cutlery as the waitress put the places down and left without supplying any. This was a lovely breakfast place offering lots of veggie and different menu items, we will definitely be coming back, but it’s more of a treat place than somewhere I’d go regularly due to the price. It would be a better experience if the servers were a bit more experienced as we had to do a lot of things largely by ourselves and if the Instagram page didn’t advertise menu items with loads of toppings etc which then turn out to be smaller than the cheap ones!! Will be coming back as the experience on the whole was good and the food was tasty.

Very overpriced. Staff were too rushed with us, I didn't even catch what was said by the waitress as we were shown to the table (my son who'd been there before knew the process though)... Food has to ordered via scanning a QR Code - when will these places realise not all of us like the digital approach, I want to be served by a human! Food was nice enough, nothing special, had just as nice breakfasts for half the price elsewhere. And I had to clean the table myself, my wet wipe was filthy after doing so, so am guessing they don't get wiped down very often. These kind of places seem to focus on being quirky but can't get basics right.

I had to take some home in a box with me. Definitely recommend. It does get busy so expect a little bit of a wait, we have been lucky and have not had to wait more than 15-20 minutes for a table. Only slightly odd thing is, you can order from your phone via a QR code, but when the food is brought out you’re told to go and get yourself cutlery from beside the till. Surely this defeats the objet of ordering on your phone?

Delicious food and really lives up to what's on their social media. We were a table of 9 and they were able to seat us quickly and service was good - although slightly staggered due to our size and the small team working hard behind the scenes. Not for the faint hearted as portions are really big. I made my own pancake stack with raspberry, white Choc, fudge, ice cream and whipped cream. I also had the tater tots with cod and mushy peas which was excellent. Beautifully presented. My friends had the competition of the week pancake stacks which were honey chicken with peanut brittle and double Choc with a Choc ice on top. Some others in our group had more breakfast based foods e.g. sourdough with avocado, egg and chorizo - there were also well liked. Drinks were good too. The dog was given a puppcino which was a really nice touch.

"Underwhelming" is the word I would pick to describe my experience at Haystack earlier this week. I had heard a lot of good things about this place and decided to give it a go myself. The place was packed and though I was able to secure a table, I struggled to order via the app (WiFi was bad and data didn't work). Eventually, I gave up and ordered at the till, and had to wait five minutes, as the employees were frantically running around doing other things. The food (I ordered "The Haystack") looked amazing, but tasted very average. I'd give the flat white a better score - this was probably the highlight of the trip. Parking is accessible, and the cafe is easy to find, but Haystack seems very understaffed and could do with an extra server at the least. The stress was evident on the faces of all employees, and this took away from my experience. I'd be willing to give it another go some time, but I won't be rushing back.

Delicious food, got the Kinder pancakes and a side of potato tots with smoked salmon. Lovely friendly staff! Great little place, always super busy! Can tend to be a bit pricey but lovely as a treat :)

This is such a nice place. The food is great as well as the staff. Only wish you could book tables to guarantee you get a table. Wish there was more parking as it gets very busy.

Stunning breakfast on our date day, local parking which was free and the best menu! All around £10-15 quid but quality was great! Deffo a great spot for a treat or a moment to remember. Place was busy on an early Monday morning but still didn't wait long for grub. Coffee and ingredients are local. Coaltown coffee and knipes and co which is great to see. Clean and tidy, nice staff and all the decor is pretty neat and trendy! We loved our American pancakes and we loved the XL breakfast. Plenty of syrups and styles for coffee to so we both had our favourites!

Walked in and instantly one of the tiny staff members had the biggest sighs and eye rolls from behind the counter, obviously couldn't face having to deal with any more customers. Instantly felt like walking out the door. Utterly miserable, surly service throughout our time there. Horrible experience and won't be back

Been twice (so far!). Both times had a breakfast or one of the specials (cheese toastie with kale) and both absolutely scrumptious 🤤 I'm amazed I've been here twice now and resisted actually having pancakes, mainly because I've been too full to order any more! The presentation and taste are both amazing and I love supporting local businesses so they'll definitely be getting more of my custom in the future. Diolch Haystack! ❤️

I wish i didn’t even have to put one star for the service. Came for breakfast last week for my friends birthday, we were told by Ameera there was a 30 minute wait so we waited. We then went back in and was told by her again that it was a 30 minute wait, then to our surprise we saw people who were behind us in the queue go in before us. We had then found out that there was a list that we were supposed to join that the waitress Ameera did not tell us about. Overall we waited around 45 minutes not on the list and 30 minutes on the list. I am extremely disappointed with the service from this waitres, although i must add all of the other waitress were lovely!

THE LIST. What is THE LIST? How do you get on the LIST? Who controls the LIST? Woe betide you if you don't get on THE LIST! Went in today for some lunch. A number of tables empty yet dirty. Stood around waiting to be seated or at least greeted as the kids working chatted with their mates. Asked if we could sit at one of the dirty tables. No apparently we need to get on THE LIST and there's a half hour wait. Do not come here unless you're mates with them or don't mind staff chewing wasps whilst they're attempting customer service.

Food looks better than it is, breakfast stack is good but sometimes greasy. Pancakes are good but stodgy. Coffee is always good. Parking can be an issue when busy. Avoid on a Saturday morning or you’ll be waiting for a table. Service is hit and miss.

1 hour wait for a table. Food was horrible. £7 for 2 pancakes with bananas and syrup. There was 5 small banana slices and to much syrup. And my dads girlfriend almost died falling down the stairs if she wasn't holding on the banisters. She cut her hand badly.

Super tasty food, but the service was absolutely shocking!!!!!!! We sat down and my food came out pretty quickly. My husbands came out 20 minutes later, by which point I had eaten mine. The husbands milkshake then came out after his food arrived and I had to ask where my can of coke was!!! Even though the food was nice, the rest of the experience was shocking and we won’t be returning. Overrated.

Not a very good experience. Firstly we were overcharged by about £6 for some bacon. If we didn't query it, we wouldn't have known. Thus is not the first time it's happened to us. I dread to think of how many others have been unknowingly overcharged like us. No apology from the server. Next, our coffees arrived and we're very cold. Had to send them back. Again no apology. Our food was very standard, nothing to rave about. The bread certainly was not home made as advertised. Far too overpriced for what you get. Also, some politeness and curtesy wouldn't go amiss with the lady that served us. A little bit of care and a 'sorry' makes a big difference.

Pennard is one of the true hidden gems in golf. A proper links with breathtaking views of Three Cliffs and Oxwich Bay from several holes. I’ve played it several times now and it’s always magnificent condition. One of those courses where you just don’t want the round to end.

Great coffee shop .. I can't sell it enough you will understand if you visit .. coffee is very good, lush venue, great vibes .. I love coming here during a lunch break to switch off .. Highly recommended .. never eaten here but I often get food envy when food is brought out as it looks and smells delish!
