The Solent Inn in Isle of Wight

Booked a Sunday lunch Saturday the 30th march and went today Easter Sunday the girls were lovely and made us really welcome and the Sunday lunch was excellent, compliments to the che,will definitely be going again !!

Had the most amazing Burns Night experience at the Solent Inn. Highly recommend going. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, roaring fire, great company and the BEST overall dining experience l have had in a long time!!! And a great pub quiz to end the evening on. Food was absolutely amazing x Thank you to all the staff of Solent Inn, for putting this together this special Burns night event such a lovely way to celebrate. So lucky this is only around the corner from me 🎉😊

This evening I treated my friends and family to a roast Dinner at the Solent Inn for my daughters 20th birthday. And I can honestly say,as did they, that we’ve not experienced a roast like this ever. Awesome!! Thank you Ross and Sonya

Have eaten here on innumerable Sundays, their roasts rival anything on the Island. Excellent every time.

Four of us booked for Sunday lunch, had a lovely generous meal and felt very welcome.

A fantastic Roast served at the Solent Inn. We turned up without booking and the bar lady managed to fit us in - the food was traditional and outstanding, the bar staff were very friendly and accommodating. Next time we will definitely book In Advance

Luckily for us The solent was one of the nearest pubs to our hotel and we found it early in our visit. It's an old and traditional pub with good food and service. It's also Camra rated and serves some good real ales. The barman asked if I was a Camra member (I am) to give me a discount. My wife and I visited The Solent several times during our IOW long weekend. We enjoyed the garden and the friendly atmosphere in the bar.

Great local pub, v friendly staff and toilets were immaculate, which is a really good indicator.

I organised to have a buffet and hire a room for my Rugby team the Bulldogs during the South Island sevens. The Solent inn were superb the buffet was top class, If we come to the sevens comp next year I would definitely book again, if they would have us. Top class venue

Tasty food. Good beer. Excellent attention to allergens. I have a dairy allergy and Gemma was great and very specific to making sure I was safe to eat.

They do a Roast dinner on Sundays, which I'm going to try this weekend 👍😋

Popped in for their gin & vodka tasting event. Bartender was extremely pleasant, suggested some good things to do on the island and provided some enjoyable banter - and we found a few new gins we liked!

Sat in the garden for a few beers, was perfect, staff excellent, recommended.

Called in on the off-chance at 1pm on Sunday and we’re served an excellent Sunday Roast quicker than MacDonalds! Beef served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, broccoli, cabbage, and roast carrots and parsnips. Delicious local beer.

Fabulous Sunday roast - we arrived about 1pm on bikes, starving. Able to get sorted within minutes - outside table in the sunny but sheltered (windy day) beer garden. Lovely friendly service and wonderful roast, two of us with a roast and a pint each bill was about £37 would recommend and would come here again.

Having booked the Solent inn for the second time within a month the food and service just got better. Couldn't fault the sunday roast absolutely fantastic. Great portion of meat and vegetables. Service was quick and food red hot. A must if you enjoy a large plate of food.

Wanted a sunday roast and looked for somewhere close on the net,so we went to the solent Inn. There were 5 of us we got a warm and friendly welcome. This is not a large pub but it had a lovely character to it. When lunch arrived we all thought this looked really nice and the taste was lovely and the staff were just brilliant,couldn't fault a thing. I really recommend this pub

Disappointed. Reading the reviews we visited the Solent for dinner. They do not offer any food apart from Sunday lunch. Probably this would be a nice local pub but if you want food you will be disappointed.

A great pub selling a great choice of real ales. Both Fuggle Dee-Dum and Venom were perfect. Friendly service from woman behind the bar. Would definitely recommend.

One of Ryde's best kept secrets, the Solent Inn is a gem of a traditional pub with a lovely garden, covered outdoor area and french doors leading into the lounge bar. Worked great as the start and end point for the Harriers trail run and I was priveleged to provide live music entertainment from the bay window area through the lounge bar into the garden. This is where they have the renowned open mic on Thursdays as well.

Great homemade roast dinner was enjoyed by us today including the gravy amazing crackling, giant yorkshire puds and apple sauce .The best pub roast dinner I've experienced and great value too. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Miss it, miss out!

Walked in, had a couple playing Hungarian folk music followed by bawdy 70s ballads on violin and guitar whilst the entire pub clapped along. Happy vibes! Nice ale, clean lines, some nice gins and a cute beer garden.

A traditional pub with a lovely suntrap garden. Open fires during the winter. Good range of beers, cider and spirits. Home cooked food which is really delicious. This Inn is a little off the centre of Ryde but worth a visit.

From the moment we entered the inn we were made to feel very welcome. The two ladies were extremely friendly and did all they could to make us feel at home. The food was delicious and the beer even better. Chef/Landlord also came to check all was ok. To cap the evening off , in the bar was an open mike night. Would certainly recommend.

New food menu is incredible. Portions are huge on the burgers and cooked to a very high standard. 100% best burger in Ryde currently. Also love the menu side combos.

We had our Civil Partnership reception here at the Solent Inn. Sonia could not have done more for us, she planned it with us meticulously and when we arrived wow was the buffet table laden with such delicious goodies……from the Asian sticky sausages to the veggie curry that Ross had prepared three days earlier to let it mature, it was just all fabulous. We had the snug for a smallish reception of 25-30 guests which includes the three outdoor tables under the canopy which is absolutely fab, plenty of sac3 to love about inside and out. I would highly recommend anyone who needs an intimate venue to book the Solent Inn without a doubt, if you want quality food, great ales, super service and a friendly environment then this is the place.

A lovely place for a Sunday Roast. Fantastic service, very friendly and accommodating staff. We ate here today whilst visiting the Isle of Wight. In our party was 2 adults, 4 children and a dog. We initially sat outside but the lovely ladies behind the bar said we were more than welcome to sit inside with the dog. Our food was served very promptly and was very well presented and it was beautiful. Even the children said what a “lush” roast dinner it was. Would definitely recommend and if we visit the Island again we will most defiantly return. Thank you so much 😊

The number of times I had to walk past The Solent on our recent holiday without going in doesn't bear thinking about. It looked like such a warm vibrant place that I made it my holiday mission to pay this pub a visit. We came late afternoon so probably not as vibrant as it undoubtedly would have been later, but we enjoyed this friendly welcoming place nonetheless. The real ales I had, Hobgoblin Gold and High and Dry were both well kept and therefore tasted as good as they should. I'm sad I couldn't have visited more and spent a longer visit.

Nice little pub off the beaten track if you don't want the throngs that go the the big busy pubs in Ryde. Nice little pub garden with seated tables & umbrellas for shade. Had the loaded fries with pulled pork & cheese which were lush & plentiful. Was only £11.35 for them plus my pint of Stowford. Lady behind bar with purple hair was very welcoming and helpful. Good service too and will definitely come again. Easy 5 🌟.

We visited for a few drinks whilst in Ryde and was not dissapointed. We managed to get a table in the garden which was lovely on a sunny day. Unfortunately we were not able to get any food as due to Covid they are only serving food between 12 and 3pm. They only have 2 full time chefs and as the lady behind the bar said, they need a break too! Both inside and outside of the pub were really clean and nice. Toilets clean. Sanitizer stations throughout. Phone chargers for rent. Staff very welcoming and very nice atmosphere.

The staff in here were so good! I had to change my little one and they were getting the board fixed but gave me a nice soft clean blanket and a space to change my baby! They were so polite and welcoming!

We stumbled across this after a terrible experience at another venue who clearly did not want tourists. The Solent Inn was totally different; really friendly bar lady and plenty of beers and even a cocktail tap! We didn’t eat so cannot comment on food but...

Asked the landlord and landlady if they could possibly do a suprise buffet for my partner . This they did without hesitation the food was fantastic all freshly cooked food and great service would recommend this lovely pub to anyone.

Nice little out of the way pub and Camra friendly

Can't recommend the Solent Inn highly enough. We went for lunch as a large family group and had such a great time. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was friendly and welcoming. There was something for everyone.

Came here before for a drink, lovely atmosphere, welcome staff. Came today for food. Ordered loaded fries. Pulled pork, sausage and prawn ones. Ate all 3 between us. The best loaded fries ever. Perfectly cooked perfectly seasoned. Will defiantly be coming back here !!!

Lovely little Pub with a nice outside area to sit. Was nice and quiet in the summer and the staff are very friendly. Ordered a few different variations of the Loaded Fries and was very impressed and cannot recommend them enough. Large portions and fresh ingredients!
