After having a talk with Nathan, it was abundantly clear that the value he holds high are that of a premium mixologist. Selecting the finest ingredients from that available of the suppliers, the Pina Colada and Virgin Pornstar Martini excelled the expectations of our party and were truly mixed and pursed with passion and finese. A true asset, and high commendations to Nathan, our true mixologist and cocktail wizard.

Very nice atmosphere, staff are friendly and welcoming, the drinks are great, good quality and very well presented, take advantage of the happy hour but overall not that expensive. We will definitely return.

Come here often, sometimes slow service if busy but understandable. Great for pre drinks in hertford. Jordans an absolute star though always lovely and a great asset to your team.

Very quite when we visited on a Thursday evening, a very relaxed atmosphere. Some cocktails were 2 for £12 so we went for these - they looked great, tasted good but were filled completely with ice meaning you didn’t actually get much drink.

Went with friends, the first time visiting. Only ones in the bar, sat in the garden very far away. We ordered 6 drinks which took at least 30mins. As the only people in the entire place this was far too long to wait. 2 members of staff were sat arranging flowers during this time. Cocktails were of a very low quality after the wait. Overall disappointed.

Really disappointing birthday visit to the snug. After ringing 8 times, messaging on Facebook and sending 3 emails someone phoned me back and I requested the birthday package where balloons, cake and Prosecco are given. When we got there there was no birthday package ready and no record of there being one. Very frustrating visit with awful communication. Free Prosecco was given on arrival but no balloons or cake were available.

Jordan at the snug was great! He was so lovely, friendly and accommodating. 10/10 would recommend. We love the snug so glad to be back post covid

Not a fan of these types of venues but got dragged along for a quick cocktail. The place was empty when we arrived and is a bit soulless to tell the truth. The cocktail was okay but nothing special and certainly not worth the money charged.

Had a cocktail making lesson last night with a group of friends. Jordan looked after us for the evening and he was brilliant, great mixologist and all round great guy. We all had a fab time. Platters were delicious too. Would definitely go back.

Started off really well but then seemed to go down hill. Was not allowed to order at bar but staff took ages to come and take your order. Actually felt like an inconvenience to them so we left to take our custom elsewhere

Went to The Snug Bar for a couple of cocktails prior going to a local restaurant for a meal, had been there before and had an enjoyable time. We arrived at just past 7:00pm, we noted this as the happy hour had just ended, I went to the bar to order the drinks, after about a 5 minute wait, and on the request of one of the guys behind the bar the waitress requested that all people at the bar to go back to their tables and she would take orders at the table. After a further 10 minutes I had to attract the same waitress attention to order our drinks she took our order and we waited. It got to 7:30 and I asked waitress how long would it be before the drinks arrived as we had a resveration at a restaurant, she said they were being prepared. After a further ten minutes they had still not arrived, so we decided that a casual cocktail prior to going out for our meal was not going to happen. We informed the waitress we were leaving as we needed to get to the restaurant for our reservation, her response was she would get them to us shortly. We told her it was not an option, we had waited almost 45 minutes in the bar, which was not overly busy as there were a number of empty tables. Dissapointed at the poor service and getting our evening off to a bad start, but pleased to say that the restaurant we went to redeemed the evening.

It was very busy but staff were friendly and took our order. Great happy hour deals. Good selection of cocktails. It was noisy. They have board games to play with. It’s a great bar.

Visited on a Saturday lunch time. Lunch was relatively inexpensive and good. Wraps and burger were good a d the right size for lunch. My beer (Amstel) was not great, and I should on reflection sent it back. Staff were friendly. We will return but maybe not have the beer.

Had brunch on a trip to Hertford. Over priced and poorly cooked. Service was friendly but very slow. Nice garden at the rear but would not go back.

Great stuff with brilliant attitude to the two and four legs clients! We spent a really nice time there enjoyed the food and felt welcomed. Definitely will go there again

Saturday night drinking, heard that the snug was a good bar to go. It was not. The bar staff were rude & not interest. Table server “Jordan” is was overly friendly & was pestering us to get drinks we already said we didn’t want. He ruined our experience. He also made a joke that we found very offensive & we left shortly after. The cocktails were average & were filled to the top with soda when half full. Unimpressed. Never again.

Bit of a shame as we often pop to the snug bar for a quick breakfast or lunch however on this morning both myself and my husband were disappointed with our breakfasts. Usually I get smashed avocado but went for the same as my husband and had a cook breakfast.

We enjoyed good service from the bartender.Sorry not to ask his name but we thought he was a great guy.

Visited the Snug during the weekend for an early coffee and something to eat.

To start off with, walking in the place looked lovely. Very quaint, okay music, quirky but in its own way. Upon being handed a cocktail menu we noticed, £9.75 for the cheapest cocktail on their “favourites”. Wonder if that’s the owners favourites or ours?! After ordering our first cocktail we sat back relaxing and enjoying the social side of being with the group we came in with. None of that alcohol available. Okay, a different cocktail ordered. None of that available either. Why should I have to order 3 different cocktails at a cocktail bar to not be able to be served it? The 3 cocktails I did pick all sounded pretentious with “pisco” and “mezcal” in yet not actually tasting as good as we thought they sounded. Maybe go back to basics with the cocktail menu? Might actually be a good idea as a cocktail bar?

Not a regular visitor to the Snug but as our group was in Town on a hot summers afternoon we popped in to try their cocktails.

This place is fabulous !! Could not get enough of it. The staff is great, the atmosphere great, the food absolutely fantastic !! The pie of the day never disappoints !! Wish I could have this place at home.

I visited today for lunch and was surprised.

Popped into snug bar as it seems to be one of my husbands favourites. My husband want the burger or ribs sadly we were just too early for the lunch time menu and had breakfast which I was more than happy with, I ordered the smashed avocado with poached egg, hollandaise sauce with mixed seeds it was beautiful and wanted more. Ended up eating my husband toasted from his fry up he ended but the bacon a little too overdone for his liking. We should of communicated when ordering so that’s on us. The two breakfast was great value only coming in around £20. Only little negative I had is that the flat white wasn’t great and would of liked the option of sweetener as the coffee was so bitter. However It’s still remind one of mine and my husbands fav routine place to just pop in to grab some food on the weekend.

Very pleasant atmosphere, staff and service were excellent. Fully recommend! Cocktails were lovely, some of the best!

7 of us went for drinks late on Saturday night after having dinner elsewhere. One table was being cleaned by a waitress. We said could we have the table, she said when it was ready whoever came first could have it. 10 minutes later she was still trying to clean the table, she was very unhelpful and quite unpleasant. It was only Confetti from a party. Should have taken 2 or 3 minutes top. Ended up having to do it ourselves and still found rubbish in the corner with Chicken bones. Then was given the wrong change after buying a second lot of drinks.

Great venue to have a working lunch. Range of tasty options to eat. Some healthy options alongside quality burger and chips. Friendly and helpful staff.

Full English with a Amstel beer. Service and staff nice. Music gets your head bopping Need I say anymore - to die for.

Went here for my 21st celebrations. Had the best night of my life, staff working were so helpful and friendly and joined in with my celebrations and challenges I had. Would defo go back and recommend.

I went here with a group of friends and we had to stand for at least 30 minutes due to the lack of seating and space available. We were told we couldn’t use the outside space, as they don’t want to disturb the neighbours, which I think was quite disappointing.

Stopped in here as part of a pub crawl, had a beer outside, the garden area is very nice.Drinks aren't the cheapest but are ok.Service was quick, toilets are tidy but not the biggest.Was quite busy in here. Decent atmosphere too.

I have always enjoyed brunch here, and the staff are all excellent and friendly - nothing is too much trouble. I would definitely recommend the all day breakfast menu! There is also a lovely walled garden strung with lights which is a great place to drink on a sunny summer evening. However, the decor inside is now looking very tired with worn tables which are always sticky and mucky. I think it's time the Hertford branch of The Snug Bar chain had a refurbishment!

We met some friends in the Snug before we went for a meal in Hertford and found the place to be buzzing with a really nice atmosphere. As oldies we didn't feel out of place there. We would have eaten in the Snug as we have heard good things about the food but wanted somewhere a bit more formal.The cocktails were good, I had a Zombie and Matt the barman told me a bit about the various spirits going into it, they will adapt them to your taste. I don't like ice!We will return.

Went in on Bank Holiday Monday for breakfast and were not greeted in the bar. Picked a table in the garden which was very dirty, and we realised had not been cleaned since the night before - the ash tray on the table was full, yet it was around 10am. The menu was very dirty and sticky too. We were not acknowledged, despite both staff on shift walking past us several times to bring food to one table and to clear another. In the time we were there, another couple got tired of waiting and left. We then decided to leave after waiting what felt like much too long.

Our son bought his Mum a cocktail making lesson at 'The Snug' for her recent birthday. We spent a very enjoyable couple of hours in the hands of Cocktail Maestro, Ed, who taught us each how to make 3 delicious cocktails, in a very informal and enjoyable experience. Part of the package was a choice of 4 starters from the Snug's food menu. All were delicious and perfectly complemented our wonderful cocktails.This really was a thoughtful gift and would be much appreciated by many people looking for something novel to do, as part of a celebration.

My friend and I attended a cocktail making class on Sunday. What a great way to spend a Sunday evening. Our cocktail "teacher" Matt (i think that was his name!) was very helpful and did everything in his power to make our session enjoyable. He obviously knows his trade well and gave lots of interesting facts and tips on how to make the perfect cocktail. We followed this up with a lovely evening meal - needed it to soak up the alcohol!! Food was delicious and good portions. Would thoroughly recommend. We will definitely go back.

What a find, the Snug bar Hartford, wow want in for lunch with my wife and the dog, found the staff to be attentive and courteous. The food was excellent my wife had the loaded natchos and for dessert had a banana split which they made even though it was not on the menu . I had the grilled vegetables and haloumi in a brioche hun which was fantastic and was very reasonably priced. We cannot recommend this bar enough.

Popped in by chance and was really pleasantly surprised. Staff very enthused with the bar, great cocktails and nice atmosphere.If eating it is recommended to either get there early or advance book as tables go quickly

Visited The Snug Bar on Friday for lunch. Very pleased with the menu, the staff were understanding as to allergies Food was very good and will definitely be coming back.

We came here on a Saturday night for a quick bite to eat. We were lucky and it was still happy hour - 241 on cocktails - frozen margheritas were excellent! We also had a burger and tacos - really good. Good value too. Bit noisy and Saturday night drunkedness, but still, I'd go again!

Ate here recently with family - nothing special just fancied a bite for lunch. Food arrived very quickly, was very reasonably priced and was lovely! Waiting staff were fantastic and really attentive - checked if they could get us anything else/coffee after the meal etc. Nice to have this sort of service in such a relaxed atmosphere!

We have visited for breakfast a few times and food is always speedy and really tasty! The staff are very welcoming and friendly especially the host penny who greets us on arrival and is happy to help with anything we need.We recently visited the ware branch last week as this is actually our local snug for breakfast the food took 45 minutes even though we were the only customers it arrived stone cold! We weren't even offered a fresh one just told we could have a refund and the food was taken away. We now drive the extra mile to the Hertford snug as the ware one Is nowhere near up to par with Hertford's service and quality food!

2 4 1 cocktails went down well with the ladies and the designer beers were ok but it is a bit pricey, good outside seated area to the rear, all in all a cosy venue

Came here for breakfast. Wasn't impressed. The full breakfast had two items missing, had a tiny portion of cold beans. Wouldn't bother again.

Came on a Saturday and discovered happy hour had been extended due to the football. Both had burgers (one beef and one chicken). Couldn't fault the food, it's exactly what the menu suggests a hearty tasty burger with a generous side of fries. Happy hour was on the same drinks so you had to have 2 of the same cocktail. Cocktails tasted lovely but were large, a bit too much ice and mixer meant I couldn't finish as it was just too much liquid. I would prefer the drinks shorter but maybe that's personal preference. So if you can't drink masses of liquid I'd try and find an extra short drink. Average seems harsh but I couldn't say very good as I wasn't overwhelmed by my visit. It was nice and if you catch the happy hour and have food it's definitely worth the visit.

We drank prosecco here last time, we didn't eat. Small, but perfectly formed! Sadly, we couldn't sit in the lovely little courtyard as the British weather was terrible :-(

The Snug is somewhere that I like to take my family for a treat, and we've always enjoyed the burgers and platters. never had a breakfast before, and won't again! The breakfasts were tiny, literally one tablespoon of beans, no sausages or mushrooms and two rashers of bacon. I know these things happen and it wasn't the fault of the chef but to have run out of these essential items Sunday midday for an ALL DAY BREAKFAST seems like poor planning! The eggs florentine were absolutely drowned in sauce and the whole thing was really not worth the excessively high price.Really really disappointing.On the plus side, the staff were friendly, polite and professional.

Having not been here for years I've been twice in the past month and have been a little disappointed. It wasn't quite the chic place that I remembered. The first night was a gin night , great selection of boutique gins but spoilt by tonic from a hose. The second night was a white wine night . The selection could be more exciting. Please rethink the wine selection and be more classy with the tonic .

More like a kindergarten than a bar. Could be a great place but they need to decide who they are catering for and stick to it. One size doesn't fit all and there are more than enough places for mothers and pushchairs to go already.

Came here last Friday from a pub nearby which was closing, had a few drinks in here, had a dj playing was fairly quiet though, drinks were reasonable and a decent selection available.Staff were very quick to serve but didn't look the happiest.Toilets are decent and clean.Was in here til gone 1am, good place for a late drink and to chat with friends.

We called in unexpectedly, [ we have been here before] its small "L" shaped dining and drinks area with a small bar almost directly in front of you as you enter from outside. its on the darkish side but, on occasions you accept that..... another time you may say lets get out of here...They also have a small garden area so you can basque in the sunshine. The whole experience of going out can be governed on how you feel on the day...Sunshine is a great commodity to follow you around...it lifts you up to a new level ....... The bar staff here are really friendly and welcoming, the Snug sells bar food ....burgers, fries, toastie sandwiches,etc;; they are even open for Coffee mornings and they are frequently visited by many, many mums..[babies included [Always a welcoming smile regardless of the time you arrive.].Good Job Snug, its a brilliant asset to the local town.....and mums

Amazing cocktails made by a polite bartender whom was called Fin, very welcoming, had some great food so asked for the name of the chef as it was too die for and his name was Brendan, overall lovely evening, 100% recommend and will definitely be a returning customer for times to come!

We have been going to the snug once every now and then for 5 years and normally it's been fantastic.. On the last two occasions however the service has been a bit slack. This time although there were two people working and only 4 of us in the pub it was quite hard to get a drink with the bar staff more interest in what ever bar staff do being a bar. That being said it's a nice cocktail bar

I love The Snug! I'm not a pub person but this pub is so nice that I am quite happy to call in regularly for cocktail happy hour and a veggie dog from the menu - both fit the bill nicely. The pub is small, cosy and the right side of shabby chic. The staff are great and give excellent service - what is not to like about this place :0),

I used to prefer this snug to the one in Ware, but the last few times in here have been awful. Staff don't care and spend most the time chatting and ignoring you. No one asks you if your food is ok or if you want another drink etc. . Again, too busy larking around at the bar. Didn't stay long as it was a rubbish atmosphere trying to hear each other over the staff messing around.

Ok so when you see a £10 fish finger sandwich you have to have a go right : so the sandwich / burger was well worth the money, fresh really good batter . Again proves the point waiting for fresh cooked food is worth it ... But the real gem is :- Jack the manager . Very funny lad polite efficient and generally a really good sense of humour . So if you go there have a laugh with jack as his personality says a lot about the establishment

We visited the Hertford Snug with friends today for a relaxed bite to eat and a drink. We are so lucky to have this place in our home town! There is nowhere in town that does better cocktails, they do the best I've had outside of London. The food wasn't Michelin standard but was exactly what we needed and the staff and service were brilliant. We'll be back regularly now, this place is brilliant! Thanks guys!

Literally one of the best burgers I've ever had! The 3 people with me agreed! I had the bbq cheeseburger and it was amazing! Great service and drinks also!

I've visited The Snug a couple of times now for a bite to eat and never left dissatisfied. The portions are decent enough as is the food choice. I quite like the atmosphere and decor too. It's one of those places where once inside it has a cosy, friendly feel to it. If I had to describe the main positive, it's that it's one of those local establishments that's nice to call in to on a cold winters day. The type you fancy when you'd rather be ever so slightly away from the hubbub of some of the other local eateries.

Visited on a Monday lunchtime. We had fish and chips and a burger. The fish and chips was the better of the two and was really nice. Alcoholic cocktails are very expensive when not on happy hour so we had non alcoholic ones which were good.

Just caught this place while meeting a friend for lunch. It is a simple menu but well executed and priced. The flavors were spot on and the service was very good and patient as we were catching up for a while before ordering and we were not pressured and made to feel welcome whilst taking our time.Great place and well worth a visit!!!

went in for pre dinner cocktails with friends, we had been meaning to come here for ages for cocktails and were really disappointed. The cocktails were either bland (really couldn't taste much alcohol) or not very nice. We are all seasoned cocktail drinkers and will definitely not be back.

Cocktails in this place are excellent and I doubt you will find better in town. Prices vary but can be expensive if you want something special. They have a great range and their own. Staff are friendly and helpful to recommend. Food is good. Sweet potatoes fries are a must! As is happy hour 4-7? 2-4-1 cocktails on their favourites a great place to always start a night out

I have recently returned from my 3rd visit to this snug bar, I have visited a few of the snug bars and this one is definitely my favourite.. It is the most intimate and cosy.. the Cocktails are great.. Particularly the strawberry daiquiris! Staff are attentive and service has always been faultless. I shared the meze board with a friend and it was great value for money! Previously had the chilli cheese fries which were my fav! Would definitely recommend and return!

Have been in a number of times and have finally got round to writing a review. Great food, especially the burgers. And the lunch deal is great value. Full chicken breast burger, chips and a bottomless coke for less than £10. The cocktails are great and cant beat happy hour. Bartender even introduced me to the rum old fasion and now I cant get enough of them. The staff are the best around, always friendly attentive and cant do enough to help. Really set this place apart. Deffinitely worth a visit

had a table booked up with them for 9 people for a hen party. When we turned up they had let another group of people sit at our reserved table. The manager then denied any knowledge of emails that not only had he received but had responded to about the booking. When they finally sorted out the table the service was slow even though we had pre-ordered our food. Wouldn't go back couldn't organise a thing!!

Pretty pricey in here, quite small and can get crowded. Staff looked pretty fed up. Wouldn't recommend for large groups, ok for a quick drink then move on elsewhere.

We were invited by friends to a cocktail making class for a birthday party. The bartender turned party host was good fun and got the party going. We all had to make 3 cocktails to make and then drink. Party food was served which included stuffed jacket potatoes and chicken kebabs. We had a designated area for the whole evening and continued with the party once the cocktail making had finished. The cocktail making cost £35 per head and I thought it was a great way to celebrate.

False Advertising on a board outside using an out of date offer which states £10 for burger,chips and a mojoito . I asked for this to be told the offer isn't available. The cocktail menu isn't clear on how much alcohol is in the cocktails.. so basically you could be paying £8+ for a single measure. Happy hour ok.. but service quite slow. I was with two others and cocktails were being bought to us one by one which isn't really good when you're in a group Been there previously and had much better experience

My wife and I returned to Hertford for the first time in two and a half years and revisited The Snug Bar, we were delighted when we walked in and was firstly remembered by the now supervisor Jordan, who not only remembered us by name and for my wife's dislike to vodka, which brings me to the drinks, which were poured with flair, precision and fresh fruit, our drinks were brought to us in outside area which is a fantastic sun trap, ideal for a cocktail or two. After being made feel welcome and valued as customers, we decided to stop for lunch and when asked Jordan gave good recommendations of the whole menu, but also pointed out the value of the offers for the day I had the Snug bar's 10 years celebration menu, which consists of and bacon, chesse burger, skinny fries and a silver mojito all for just £10! the burger was cooked perfectly, it was juicy, the cheese melted and the bacon was crispy, with a lightly toasted bun, I would highly recommend The Snug Bar to all my friends and family going to Hertford, there is a wide range of drinks and the food is excellent, the nice touch to the already relaxed atmosphere is the warm and welcoming staff, that simply made our day revisiting Hertford, we both said that we will not be leaving it so long coming back again!10/10 food10/10 drinks10/10 atmosphere10/10 staffa must visit!!

First visit was 2007, when we moved to Hertford, we've eaten there at least once a week since. Staff are very friendly and attentive, especially Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.Grandkids love it, they have been going to the Snug half their lives, must be something in the food.

I always enjoy the snug, I normally go for breakfast or lunch. Both are always good especially the burgers. They have a lovely sun trap garden and I'm looking forward To spending many summer afternoons there.On a night out I normally start in the snug and enjoy their happy hour. The cocktails are brilliant especially when they are 2 for 1.The staff are young however they can't do enough for you and are always happy and helpful.A great local!

Awesome Mac n Cheese and according to the husband and daughter "the best burger in Hertford" and that's some praise! Great value for money lunch menu and fantastic service from the lovely Penny and Jordan.This pub is family friendly - attracts lovely people and is very relaxed and yet service is excellent. The garden is a lovely suntrap and excellent for lazy lunches with friends. Hertfords friendliest pub that serves lovely food.
